Chapter 5: The Fall...

I was snoring in my home made hammock after last night. For the first time, I had a bed time story. At first I kept protesting, saying I was too old. Spada on the other hoof said otherwise. All of a sudden, I heard a banging on the door. I yawned and got up, feeling groggy. Yesterday was tell stories day, until someone came up and told me that there is a mission tomorrow at the castle. I got up completely and heard more banging.

"I'm up Spada, no more noises please!" I said. I got out some milk, drank some and considered it breakfast. I put on my cloak, which had a new color upgrade. Now, it had a crimson streak around my hood and chest, making the Assassin's symbol. I loved the new design. I got outside to see a bed headed Spada in her usual golden armor, but with a helmat on. I found it strange because these were only used for defensive situations. We started hearing five bells. These bells mean something is wrong. I climbed up the castle wall while Spada ask around on what's going on. I get to a high point and look everywhere. I then squinted to see an enemy airship. It was an old-school one, one that uses magic and classic flamethrowers. Before I started trying to climb down, it shot six mortars. I fell onto my back and got the wind knocked out of me. I felt I was picked up. I look over to see Spada carrying me with fear in her eyes.

"What the Tartarous was that?!" She asks. I shook my head.

"Enemy airship, counted only one though," I said. As if Fate decided to have a joke, seven airship anchors dropped down, missing us by an inch. The next thing I see, is smoke and soot everywhere. I got up, trying to look for Spada."Spada!?" I yelled out. "Spada!!!" I tried to scream. Before I screamed again, an explosion erupted at the castle. At the room where Celestia and Luna's thrones are. I look down to see a mare in gold armor rushing to the castle, carrying the same stupid spear like always. "Spada no!" I yelled, trying to run, only to be swept up by two Assassins. "Let me go I have to save Spada!" I yelled.

"Keep quiet, there's nothing we can do, if we stay, there's nothing to do!" He yelled back. I kept gasping for breath as I saw my friend dissapear in the smoke. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, I felt shattered. Everything went by so quick. I closed my eyes to try and stop the tears on my face from falling. I then, heard silence. I open my eyes to see a ceiling, sound of pouring rain coming down. I look around to see I'm in a handcrafted hut. I sat up, looking around.

"Where am I?" I asked out loud.

"You're in our chieftain hut as Luna called it," an Assassin said in the corner. I look at him.

"Where's Spada?" I asked. He spits into a spit spittoon.

"How's your head?" He asks. I look at him with a glare.

"Genuinely, how is your head, I don't have a silly grudge on Celestial Guards," he said. I kept frowning.

"Where. Is. Spada. You son of a-" Luna cuts me off with her hoof when she comes in.

"I'm sorry Mr. Eugene, Quickblade is not too well, I'll take him for you," she said. I turned to her with daggers in my eyes.

"Where is Spada, and don't give me some drummed up BS," I said. Luna, wide eyed now, stared at me.

"Quickblade, I do not know where she is," she said. I felt anger boiling. I kept my composer, and kept my cool for the most part.

"Luna, she is about as bright as the sun, where is she," I ask again. She sighs and starts pinching the bridge of her nose. "Luna, just lay it on me, if she's taken prisoner, I won't go after her," I said, excellently lying. She bights her lower lip.

"Quickblade, when I say we don't know where she is, I mean we think she's... Dead," she finished. I stared blankly. "Quickblade, there may be a chance she survived, but they're very slim. If it helps, we know who may or may not have killed her and destroyed Canterlot," she said.

"Spit it out," I mumbled, still staring.

"They call themselves the Air before Armageddon," she finished. "At first they were rumors, thought to be insane ponies," she said. I kept staring. "Then, well, Canterlot was attacked. We found you and took care of you for five days now. Most Guards and less than half the Assassins were caught," she said. I nodded, understanding. "Then, they took over Canterlot, and are expecting us to attack in one week," she said. I nodded. I know what I must do.

"Air before Armageddon huh? The only Armageddon they'll face is me," I said, turning to leave the tent.

Meanwhile,

"What do you mean you can't find them?" I ask. The Celestial Guard in front of me shakes his head.

"Captain Spada, we've looked, but the Assassins appear to be in hiding for now," he said. I groaned and slammed my fist onto the table.

"We are gonna need to find them fast since we only have a week!" I said. He shakes his head.

"We have to let them find us the way Celestia described them," he said. I sighed and nodded. I was separated from Quickblade during the attack. I thought I heard a cry for help, and told him to stay there. He didn't hear me apparently. Celestia soon gathered all she could find of us and teleported us to a nearby military cave in Canterlot. I was training most of our military forces. Celestia said we are gonna have to wait for the Assassins to plan the attack. The Guards on the other hand just have to carry it out since we still have a bigger group than the Assassins. I sat in my chair, my hand to my chin, trying to think what might happen. All I can think right now is of Quickblade, the stallion who's almost as stubborn as me, except calmer, sneakier, and quicker. I tried to push him out, but the thoughts of him won't budge. I sighed sadly. Bad thing about our disconnection with the Assassins, we dunno who's alive or not. I have a feeling though, that he is. I used that as my courage. For me, it's enough to go on. If he's dead, this Air before Armageddon is going to feel my want for vengeance.
