He sat back, kicking his feet on his desk, and putting his arms behind his head. “Ohhh my god, that was terrible.” He groaned to himself. As previously stated, he had been streaming, and it was pretty messy. After being banned from Twitch in the middle of a commentary, he had taken over a friend's twitch in order to finish up, but things went south there, as well. At first, only he could hear Mytho, then his computer crashed. It was... Interesting, to say the least. Almost as if on cue, the smoke detector went off, to add to the shitty situation. “God damn it.” He muttered, sitting back up and grabbing a pack of batteries. “I'm gonna have to fix this thing sooner or later, anyways.” He stood up, and stretched, popping a few bones in the process. Speedy walked drowsily out of the room, as staring at a computer for an hour and a half does that to people, and made his way towards the beeping noise, though, it seemed- different, this time. It was constant, with almost no stopping in between. If he didn't know any better it sounded like a screa- “PLEASE HELP.” He jumped at the sound, caught completely off guard by the high-pitched, little-sister-in-an-anime type voice. After a few moments of looking around, he realized what it had to be. The smoke detector. “SOMEONE, ANYONE.” Nervously, he reached up and went to change the batteries. Upon placing the last battery inside, everything went white, and he could only hear a continuous, high-pitched ringing noise in his ear. As his vision and hearing slowly went back to normal, he felt something pressed up against his leg. “Oh, thank you! I could have died if you hadn't saved me!” The small smoke detector clung to his leg like it was a life raft. You would have thought that he'd be surprised that his smoke detector was talking to him and hugging his leg, but something else was bugging him a bit more. And that was the fact that his leg ended in a hoof instead of a foot. Am I... he thought to himself as he looked around his body. Four legs. A muzzle. Hooves. A tail. “I'm a fucking horse” He groaned. And he thought the stream was the only thing that was going to mess up his day. Suddenly, the detector spoke up once more. “Might I ask my savior's name?” She asked, blinking her sparkly blue eyes at him. “Um...” He started, until realizing he should probably go by his pony name, wherever he was. “S... Soundspeed... yeah. Yours?” He said, looking down at the detector. “Smokey.” She smiled as she looked at the gray stallion. “Well, Smokey, hop on. We're finding a way back home.” Smokey somehow nodded, and climbed up his tail, and plopped onto his back. “Hold on!” He took off, down a dirt path nearby. Smokey's little smoke detector arms held onto his mane as to not fall off as he ran for a while, sometimes tripping as to the fact he wasn't entirely used to having four legs and no feet. After about an hour of running, he came across a large, brick building. He slowed to a walk, and made his way to the entrance. What he saw made him completely reconsider even staying alive up until this point in his life. Above the front entrance of the building, in large letters read: Royal Pony Academy “Smokey, we need to leave, now.” He muttered, voice shaking. Just as he turned around, he met face-to-face with another pony. She was a purple filly, with a spiky black mane and red highlights. Her red eyes pierced into his soul as her bat-like wings fidgeted. “WHO ARE YOU LOOKIN' AT?! YOU THINK BEING NEW IS ROUGH?! TRY GROWIN' UP WITHOUT A FATHER” It's So LateAs the final school bell rang throughout the schoolyard, Speedy trotted through the highschool-aged ponies, blending in almost perfectly with his childish structure. Fairly enough, he could probably pull off being a middle schooler if he tried hard enough. He made his way through the crowd, trying to find someone to casually ask if he could room with them for a couple days. After a couple minutes of looking around the place, he happened to run into a familiar pony. The purple pony growled, pushing him to the side. "Outta my way!" She yelled, stomping past him. Dazed, he didn't even realize that she had just, well, for lack of a better word, disappeared once she went behind a tree. Yet another familiar pony walked out from behind the tree in the opposite direction that the other was going. "Speedy!" She yelled, running across the walkway to him. "Do you not have anywhere to stay for the night?!" She asked, holding his hoof with hers. "Uh..." He sighed, giving in. He had to admit it, he was tired. "Yeah, actually." Whirlwind's eyes lit up in excitement. "Great! I actually have another room in my house with a bed if you want. We can even make a special bed for your..." She looked down upon Smokey, sending an evil-looking shadow over the kawii smoke detector, who shrank behind Soundspeed's mane. "Sounds good, let's go." He said reluctantly. It was about eight thirty at night the same evening the red pony had brought the grey stallion into her home. Though both of them were expecting the other to be sleeping, neither of them were doing so. In fact, the only one sleeping was Smokey, who was dreaming of her father. "Damn it." Speedy muttered, flipping through a book of magic that he probably stole from the school library. There had to be a way to get him back to normal, there just had to. Whirlwind, however, was fucking about with a different type of magic. A small, angry horse figurine stood upon her shelf. Upon tapping it with her hoof, the figure said quietly; "Try growing up without a father" She smiled happily to herself. Forcibly sawing off a unicorn's horn when she was seven had done her good, after all. Soundspeed woke up the next morning, only to find the other Pegasus had already gone off to school. She had left a note (quite creepily, really) next to his face on the desk that he had fallen asleep on. Sorry, Speedy! I had to run to school early again today! I also returned your book, I hope you don't mind! He could feel the smirk in the note. Damn. She was a self-insert OC, if he'd ever seen one. He sat up, and looked around. After a few seconds, he realized- Smokey was nowhere to be found, and in the place of where the smoke detector was the night before, Was two double A Batteries. Death Is Among The MortalsSmokey blinked lazily, her eyes slowly un-blurring themselves. She looked around the room she was in. It was dark, and pretty hard to see in. It was damp, too. Her best guess was that she was in a basement, from how high up and squat the two windows were. She appeared to be on a desk, along with a few other pretty odd objects. To her right was a small figurine of what appeared to be the angry pony her and Soundspeed has run into earlier the day before, along with what appeared to be a horn of some kind. To her left was... "Speedy's hair?" She reached out to pat it with her smoke detector hands. Suddenly, she heard the door from the top of the stairs creak open, and saw a familiar red pegasus coming down the worn, wooden stairs. Smokey stared, confused as to why she had woken up there as Whirlwind scooped up the three things around the smoke detector. "Alright, let's do this." She muttered, ignoring the smoke detector completely as she made her way into a room to the side, closing the door behind her. Smokey heard some weird chant from the other side of the door, along with some weird flashing lights that would burst from under the door at random intervals. Around ten minutes later, the door was blown open by what seemed to be an explosion. Smokey, worried, attempted to sit up, only to feel a surge of pain wash over her. It was then that she realized that she was missing two batteries, and in trying to keep her alive with only two, her body had nearly drained the pair of batteries left completely. She groaned, now feeling lightheaded, and sat against the wall, watching the smoke clear from the room. Whirlwind walked out of the side room along with a stallion that looked almost exactly alike to the one Smokey was brought here with. The only difference was that his cutie mark was facing the opposite direction. Smokey stared blankly at the stallion until Whirlwind interrupted. "Oh, yeah, I forgot!" She exclaimed. "May I present to you..." She made a drumroll noise with her mouth before throwing her two hooves towards the pegasus. "Speedsound!" No one said anything, but she wasn't letting it go to waste. She made a few quiet cheering noises, along with a couple of 'yeah''s and 'good job's to herself before continuing. "Anyways," She smiled. "Using the magic from the horn I, erm, borrowed... I managed to mix the soul of Jet with some of Soundspeed's DNA and..." She threw her hooves towards the stallion again, who just rolled his eyes in return. "tah dah!" She did makeshift jazzhands with her hooves. "And now you can stay with Soundspeed here all you want, 'cuz Speedsound is gonna take his place in your dimension!" The enthusiasm in her voice made Smokey kind of sick. "No! You can't replace him! Besides, he said he's take us back to our dimension and-" Whirlwind cut her off. "And what? You'll both go to what you refer to as the 'real world' and he puts you back onto the wall? You want him to never even look at you again until he has to change your batteries because you started that god awful beeping again?" Smokey, though trying to prevent it, started to cry. "Face it," Whirlwind stated. "It's better for everyone if we keep Soundspeed here." Smokey just stared, baffled. She didn't wan't to accept what the filly was saying as truth, she really didn't. But it all, mixed with the immense pain from the low batteries didn't really help clear her mind to think straight, and nodded at what the red pony was saying. "See? It's not that bad. So long as you don't get in my way, I won't hurt you or your precious Soundspeed. All you need to do for me is keep him away from Speedsound and myself, which shouldn't be hard. Sound good?" Smokey somehow nodded once more as Whirlwind replaced her batteries. After bringing the smoke detector upstairs and putting her back in the guest room, she made sure to call out over her shoulder: "Oh, and if you even hint to Soundspeed that Speedsound exists..." She drew a line across her neck with a hoof. "I'll fucking obliterate you." "What are YOU looking at, anyways?" She scoffed, rolling her eyes at him. Smokey adverted her glare as she trotted past them, staring back at her as she did so. "Well, shit." he muttered, fluffing his wings. "Not only am I a horse now, but 'm also in one of the worst possible places imaginable."He wouldn't wish this on his worst enemy. Oh well, at least he was most likely early, since the other pony seemed to be the only one around. He tool up the opportunity to look around the school, Smokey still on his back. "Where are we?" She asked quietly, glancing around, mostly out of fear that the fatherless horse could return. "A mixture of the two worst places in the universe," he mumbled. "An MLP faniverse AND a high school. Great." The sarcasm could be felt in his last comment. Just as they started to turn the corner, a red filly bumped into them. "Oh, my bad." She stuttered, her curly yellow maine all over the place. "wait..." she said, looking at him up and down. "Is that a smoke detector on your back?" Before he could answer- "Oh! You must be new here, aren't you?" She smirked. They were both quiet for a minute, speedy being afraid, Smokey being slightly aroused (she was thinking of her father reading Fifty Shades of Grey to her, she wasn't really paying attention) and the filly was just, well, she was... confused by everything that had just happened up to this point. "Well, I'm Whirlwind. Whirlwind Storm." The Pegasus did a cute pose as she introduced herself. "Pleased to meet you." she giggled, holding out her hoof. After reluctantly shaking it, she turned to go in the opposite direction of the grey stallion and his smoke detector. "See ya around!" She called cheerfully over her shoulder, though it just filled him with more dread. "Make that three of the worst things in the universe." He mentioned to Smokey, who was still shaking with pleasure from her father's voice. "We're in a faniverse with a self-insert OC in it." He groaned, rolling his eyes. Whirlwind smirked to herself as she trotted away, knowing fully well that he would never become that shambling mess of a human being he was once, ever again. (not in the weird way, though, I promise she's just a villain shhhhhhhh)
