Chapter 1: Gods below
“Toilet paper? Check. Bathing suite? Yep. Rusty? Yepers.” Incase your confused that was a list. A list of things that Austin is packing. Simple a dare. No not a dare to pact things that would be stupid and pointless! This dare is about out lasting nature and let it not be said that Austin is a moron.
“Now that those are out of the way time for the important stuff! 2L bottle of Pepsi? Check. 2 pound bag of Swedish Berries? Got them. The whole Demonata saga? Check. IPod? Never leave home with out it! And that should do it.” However it can be said that he is a teenager so other stuff comes first.
With the backpack filled Austin made his way down to the dock at his grandparent’s cottage. It was Spring Break of Austin’s second year in high school and Austin with three of his most trusted friends own the place for the week. With no parties (Austin hates hates hates loud parties.) it was very dull. Well it was till Sasha got the smart idea to dare Austin to live on one small island’s in the lake.
At the dock Austin’s friends were waiting. Sasha, small Russian computer wiz. Justin, Canadian military guy. Erickson a hyper computer programmer. They were waiting in the boat, if one could call it a boat. It was one of those boat were the people sit in it and pedal to move it.
“Come on man! You’re burning daylight!” Sasha said from the front right of the boat.
“Calm down man. It’s what? 7:36 am? Relax.” Justin snapped at Sasha, taking the front left of the boat. Erickson said nothing as he bounced a little in his seat.
‘Gods below! Its 7:40 and he’s probably had what? Two chocolate bars and a glass chocolate milk. Eight years and nothing changes.’ Austin smirked to him self as he got in the boat. “Well alright boys, lets ride!”
20 minutes of pedaling later
They reached the island and as Austin was going to shore Sasha grabbed his shoulder to stop him. Austin looks at his friend of four years with a hint of irritation.
“You know the rules?” Sasha asks. Austin rolls his eyes and answers in his monotone voice.
“Yes, I stay here till the sun goes down, then I swim back to the docks. Not that difficult ya know.” Sasha nodes his head and let’s go.
“See ya then!” The boat turns around and levees Austin alone. Just the way he likes it. Austin walks up the beach till he gets to the tree line. Finding a good place in the shade Austin takes off his backpack and pulls out the first book in the Demonata series “Lord Loss” and starts to read.
12ish hours latter
The sun had just finished setting as Austin closed book five of the Demonata “Blood Beast”. Austin puts the book back in the pack and pulls out the bathing suit and his bottle of Pepsi. Taking a swing of Pepsi, Austin changes quickly and is ready to swim. Replacing the clothes Austin has another swing of Pepsi then puts the bottle away as he heads down to the beach. He puts the backpack on so when he’s laying on his back the pack and all it holds will stay dry. When the water was starting to touch the bottom of the backpack Austin turns around and lies down so his face and backpack are looking at the night sky. ‘Nice night’ as he swims a thought crawls into his head ‘What if there are fish below?’ one of the things Austin hates is swimming with fish. As he try’s not to panic his legs start to be dragged down. He only notices as his head goes under……moron.
When his head goes under Austin panics and starts thrashing trying to surface. On the plus side the fish stayed away. As time went by Austin’s lungs started to get a burning feeling. ‘Drowned, by an undertow that should not be here……Shame full. Just as Austin was going to open his mouth and end his show, his head breaks a surface.
Chapter 2: A whole new world of pain
Chapter 2: A whole new world of pain
Austin’s brook the waters surface. Breathing deeply as it did. He was still thrashing till he realized a few things. One, he was sitting not floating in water. Second it appears to be day time where ever he was. Lastly the backpack got wet.
“Oh god the backpack!” He stood up and opened the bag fearing the worse. As it turned out everything was bone dry. He was so over come with relief that the IPod and books were dry he decided to ignore the fact that they should be wet. Looking up he saw the land much better then when he was in panic mode.
The land around him was beautiful. Rolling green hills, the river he was standing in and blue sky with not a cloud in it. He was pissed off at it. How dare this land look so good when he went through a watery hell. He looked up river. He looked down river. He lifted his head and unleashed a river of curses.
20 minutes of curse’s later
“I feel much better. Now what?” Thinking of nothing better to do Austin puts on the pack same way as before, lies down and floats away down river.
After one hour of floating and humming “Hoist the colors” Austin got bored “Bored now!”. Standing up and cracking his back and ankles he stared walking to the shore. The shore itself was a little bit of sand then a small hill. Climbing the hill Austin sang slowly, so not be heard.
“ ‘Yo ho all hands
Hoist the colors high
Heave ho thiefs and beggars
Never shall we die.’”
Slowly lifting his head Austin saw a odd sight. A small yellow and pink pegasus playing with a rabbit. Austin closed his eyes and pinched his arm to make sure that he was not dreaming. Sadly to say the only thing he got was pain. ‘I gots an idea. I’ll just sneak around them and be on my ways. I’m so smat. I mean smart…odd.’ Stepping so lightly that his bare feet didn’t make a noise on the soft grass. What he didn’t expect was the bunny looking at him then tapping the pegasus and pointing at him. The yellow horse turned and froze when it saw Austin standing nearly behind her. ‘Bloody bunny!’
After five minutes of doing nothing but staring at one another the silence turned from shocked to awkward. So Austin just decided to keep moving. As he turned to leave he heard a voice.
“W-w-what a-ar-are y-you?” Turning so fast it made his head spin, Austin was looking for the source of the female voice but all he saw was the horse and it rabbit.
“W-w-we-well aren’t you going t-to say somt-thing.” The horse spoke. THE BLOODY HORSE SOPKE! If not for the fact that it had wings and was yellow with pink he mite of fainted. But no Austin has seen weirder things (A thin American, who would of thought!) so he replied in a cold, bored monotone voice that he used with people he didn’t know.
“I’m a human. What else would I be?” The small horse seemed surprised that Austin could talk and gave a small “eep!” well since he was all ready talking to a horse Austin thought he might as well have a conservation with the thing.
“So my names Austin. What’s yo” As Austin was walking to the small horse he was cut off by a very loud.
“GET THE BUCK AWAY FROM HER!!!” Austin turned to see a blue blur come at him. Poor guy only had time to think one thing ‘Oh fuck all kinds of duck!’ Then pain then darkness, blessed darkness.
