Mintyfresh slammed down a map onto the small table in front of him. The piece of paper was covered in different coloured inks and markings- x’s, dashes, and in some places it was just ripped. “How do you explain this?!” Icefire hunched her shoulders, and looked down at the ground.
“You said that the Everfree Forest was secure! Now we have a hoard of Discord’s in there!”
“I-I’m sorry! I thought it was!” Ice replied, her voice slightly wavering.
Minty sighed. The Everfree Forest was a vital point in this war- it was a shelter, a hideout, and a major battle spot- one of the most important spots in this war. And now, because of Icefire’s carelessness, the once-held turning point in the war was gone. Minty decided it was time to stop playing a defensive war, and start playing an offensive war. Discord controlled the cities of Applelossa, Hoofington, Trottingham, Fillydelphia, and Manehattan, and now the Everfree Forest. Equestria was losing terribly with only Canterlot, Ponyville, and Cloudsdale. Minty hated to admit it, but unless they gained control of more cities and towns, the war would end shortly, and not in their favour.
“Okay Icefire, I have an idea. It requires a strong leader, and that’s where you come in. Now, I need a strong group to attack the Everfree Forest, and hold the position for one hour. Then, while they are trying to defend that spot in the forest, another stealthy group of about 100 ponies will come in from behind and siege the forest. If all my intelligence is correct, they have about 3,000 ponies consisting of Unicorns, Pegasi, and Earth ponies defending it.”
“Now, my idea is I will lead a group of 2,500 ponies of all kinds into the Everfree Forest. We will attempt to attract all the attention we can. Setting fire, knocking down trees, and other various things. You will lead the 100 ponies behind enemy lines to singlehoofingly capture the forest with the aid of me and my troops.”
“Okay, my only request is that I have my friend ShadowClaw as my second-in command.”
“Request granted. I will be at the entrance to the Everfree Forest with my troops at 0800 tomorrow morning. Be sure you’re ready to attack at a moments notice. When you see a green ray of magic shoot into the air, proceed into the forest. Now, any questions?” Minty asked sincerely.
“Um no, just a request. Please don’t die out there Minty, I like having you as my boss.” Ice said.
“Request acknowledged. And also you should try to complete that request as well. Dismissed.”

Everfree Forest, 0800 hours
Mintyfresh arrived at the Everfree Forest on time. He and his battalion were prepared for a bloody fight in order to help Equestria. Minty hoped Icefire was on time, or else this whole effort would result in no positive effects. And that would surely cost them the war. He sent his green ray of magic into the air hoping Ice would notice it, yet he wasn’t sure.
“Into the forest, set fire to the trees, tear down the trees, throw rocks as far as you can. Whatever you can do to attract the attention of Discord’s troops!” Minty ordered his fellow ponies.
Minty picked up rocks with his hoofs, and started chucking them at the other side of the forest, while he was doing that he was also casting a spell that would set fire to the trees. Minty felt terrible about burning down Everfree Forest like this, but it was the one of the few ways to get Discord’s troops attention.
Minutes after the assault on the forest, Discordians started piling through the trees. Many climbed down from the skies or the trees. Minty took a deep breath, then plunged into the fight.
He hit a pegasus mare with a stunning spell, the only spell other than levitation he allowed himself to use on non-Unicorn ponies. Then an Earth pony came from behind him, and shoved him. Little did that do, since Minty was a stronger build than the Earth pony. Minty raised one hoof, then punched the pony as hard as he could in the belly.
Yet another swooped down attempting to grab Minty. He easily avoided the petty assault, then jumped and grabbed the pegasus with his hoofs. He steered him directly for a tall sturdy tree. Minty dropped at the last second, fortunately he seemed to only have gained a couple of bruises from the event. The pegasus was worse off. From the distance Minty could see both his wings broken, a broken hoof, and blood dripping down his face.
Minty walked away discouraged. He didn’t try to kill the poor pegasus. He shoved the thought away. He needed to focus on fighting, or else his favourite mercenary’s life could be compromised. As he trotted quickly to the bloody fight he couldn’t help but notice all the dead and injured ponies scattered across the forest’s floor. It was quite the dreary site, not really a lightening mood. He knew how war went, but it still discouraged him that they need to kill to decide who really rules Equestria.
Minty made it back to the battlefield. Already it seemed they were losing. I hope Icefire is close, or else we may all die, Minty thought. Then, he grabbed a hold of himself, and plunged into the battle.

Everfree Forest, 0825 hours
Wildberry was very proud of herself. She had made it so Discord controlled almost all of Equestria. She was on the verge of becoming the General of Discord’s army. An honor as it was, Berry didn’t really care. All she wanted was for there to be chaos in the land of Equestria. All the love and emotion in the land made her sick. She wanted everypony to be begging her for forgiveness.
Yet, she saw a threat to that opportunity when one of her officers alerted her that there was an attack on the North side of Everfree Forest. That was grave news, since her and her infantry were tired from 20 days of trudging through Equestria. The pegasus ponies were the ponies who had the most strength, and they may be her only chance of winning.
“Officer, order all pegasi back to this post at once.” she ordered.
“Ma’am, that would leave the other half of our army behind and they would all easily be killed.”
“Exactly.” Berry said with a devious look in her eyes.
Within the next few minutes, 500 pegasi were in front of Berry waiting for a command. “My troops, you are the most energy filled in the infantry. For that reason, I have ordered you back to this post. Together you will fight and you won’t have tired Unicorns and Earth ponies getting in your way.”
Every pegasi cheered. They had been waiting to be honored for their role in the war. They were by far the best combat fighters, what with being able to evade attacks with flying and swooping down at speeds faster than anypony to land a powerful punch. Berry admired them, but thought of them only as tools needed to be used to create a bigger project.
Everypony listened to the sound of Earth ponies and Unicorns alike screaming for mercy, begging to be let go. Most of their pleas went unanswered, but some were left alone. The pegasi and Berry were disappointed at the loss of the ponies, but knew if was a necessary price to pay. The goal was to get the attackers to waste as much energy as possible, then attack when they were depleted of energy.
When the cries suddenly stopped, Berry knew they were on to her. “Gather around the center!” she ordered.
Everypony marched or flew to the center. They prepared to get into attacking positions, and waited. It was a long and silent wait, since neither of the groups wanted to alert the other where they were. Eventually, Berry shouted, “Come out you little fillies’ and colts’.” That one sentence enraged many of the enemy ponies. Several started jumping out from the bushes. Of the many that jumped out, the Discordian ponies suffered small casualties compared to the Equestrian side.
Suddenly a giant group of ponies charged through the bushes with a white pony with a green mane containing a white stripe in it leading the herd. Berry instantly recognized this pony as their leader. Berry got into a defensive position, and prepared to batter away any punches the stallion threw at her.

Everfree Forest, 0830 hours
Ice was losing energy, and losing it fast. She shot a look over to her second in command, and gave him a nod. It meant that Ice would leave the battle, and check up on Minty. Shadow nodded, and went back to the fight he was currently in the middle of with a dark gray unicorn. Ice shot up into the air, and started flying over the burning forest. She soon spotted her commander, and flew down to aid her in the fight he was in. Before the pegasus could get any closer, she was tackled in mid-air by another pegasus onto a treetop.
The mare looked up, only to see that another mare had tackled her. Ice could tell that this pony was a Discordian- her fur and mane were a shade of gray, which made her already dark mane darker. It looked like one of her old friends, but she knew that her friend wouldn’t be a Discordian. She faked the pony out by moving to the right and punching left. The other pegasus grabbed her wing and broke it. Ice tumbled to the ground.
He landed right on top of Mintyfresh. Ice got punctured by his horn. Wildberry took advantage of the situation and threw Minty across the battlefield landing him in front of multiple pegasi troops. Ice willed herself to stand and thought it was best to keep the officer of the Discordian infantry busy. But then something unexplainable happened.
“I can pay more than Minty.” Wildberry said, catching Ice off-guard.
“Huh?” Ice mumbled.
“You heard me. More bits.” Wildberry stated once more. Ice pondered the situation.
“How much more?” Ice wondered.
“1,000 more bits than your current salary.”
“So, I think I might take you up on that offer.”
“Good, to get in you need to kill one officer of Celestia’s troops.” Wildberry turned to fight another Equestrian soldier. Ice saw the perfect opportunity Ice lunged at Wildberry. Ice hit her in the back of the neck. Wildberry without thinking about it bucked her in the chest, breaking a few ribs.
“Uhh,” Ice moaned.
“Well I see you’ve made your choice,” Wildberry said menacingly, finishing off the other soldier. Wildberry came over to do the same to Ice. When Wildberry raised her hoof. Minty hit her with a powerful spell that sent the unknowing pony flying.
“Ice are you alright?” Minty asked keeping the enemies at bay with a force field.
“Ugh...Yeah I’m okay,” Ice moaned, coughing up blood.
“You need to get to a medic,” Minty said, levitating Ice off the battlefield.

Equestrian Chronicles: Discordian
Manehatten, 1030 hours
Discord sighed, and looked down at one of his generals. "You let them invade the Everfree forest. Without even a fight." The general looked up. "Without a fight? We lost some 500 ponies, and we're STILL losing them! And who knows how many of Celestia's we took out!"
Discord rolled his eyes, and summoned a glass of chocolate milk. He sipped the glass, and gave his general a look over the milk. "Once we wipe out all of Celestia's warriors in the forest, then I'll call it a fight. Otherwise, it's just a rumble. Now," he conjured up an Easter egg basket filled with explosive eggs, "I have a certain flying city to take over. Send an order out saying that all platoon leaders need to send all the ponies they can spare to our headquarters. It's time to equip some ponies with wings."
Snowsly was a little shaken about the attack on the Everfree Forest. It was a well-planned out attack, and that showed there would most likely be more of them. She put her hoof to her chin, the pony leading the charge was a stallion named Mintyfresh. He had also had another assistant, called Icefire who lead a smaller regiment behind Wildberry’s forces, therefore flanking her troops. Now she knew one of them needed to be taken out, and she was just the assassin to do it.
She bravely walked up to her commander, Ocean Gleam and asked if she could alone attempt to kidnap either Icefire or Mintyfresh. She granted her permission to do the assault. She only asked that she wait till after the siege on the Everfree Forest. She accepted the request.

Everfree Forest, 1100 hours
Icefire was just waking up in a field hospital, she sat up immediately and ran out of her room. In her rush she ran right into a green-maned unicorn.
“I was just coming to check on you,” Mintyfresh breathlessly said.
“Oh, how is the battle doing?” Ice asked blankly.
“Good......enough,” Minty said looking down, “We’re losing too many troops in there.”
“I’ll be on my way then,” Ice said trotting down the corridor.
“Don’t you want your pay?” Minty asked. Ice stopped dead in her tracks.
“Umm...” Ice started remembering what Berry had said earlier, “I am no longer a mercenary, thus meaning I don’t need your bits.”
“Suit yourself, I’ve been meaning to ask you. What did Wildberry say to you that made you stop fighting her?” Minty asked the new recruit.
“She was offering me a job as a Discordian. I-I was thinking about taking her up on the offer but then I saw you getting attacked and I thought better of it, so I attacked her,” the white mare admitted, “I would have died if you didn’t come and save my flank.”
“It wasn’t anything special,” Minty started to blush. This is so un-stallion-like.
“It is special! I would’ve died if you didn’t save me!” Ice half-shouted at the unicorn.
“I know okay, just one of my old friends taught me to always save a pony in need.”
“Who?” Ice wondered out loud.
“A earth pony named Applejack,” Minty stated.
“Oh.” said Ice sounding awkward.
“She died in a battle a while back...” Minty said trailing off.
Suddenly a pony dressed in the royal guards’ clothing came galloping towards Mintyfresh and Icefire. He said, “The Princess has requested both you and Ms. Icefire to immediately go to Canterlot. She told me she is giving you a high honor yet never told me what it was.”
“Well, I guess we go then.” Minty said.
“I guess so.” Ice responded.
They headed towards a train that would take them safely towards Canterlot.

Manehatten, 1200 hours
After getting the OK from Ocean, Snowsly started galloping towards her quarters to get her supplies. She was a hoof-to-hoof fighter, so she had plenty of weapons to choose from for a kidnapping. About half an hour later, she set out to find out any information as to where her target was going today. She soon found out that the two would be heading to Canterlot, to receive an unneeded and pointless award from Celestia. Snow rolled her eyes, and set out for the city. It took her awhile, and fighting a few of Celestia’s warriors, but she finally made it.
Snow flew over the city, looking for a place to land that wasn’t swarmed with the enemy. She soon found one, and in a prime spot- right by the train tracks, where the leaders and high uppers in Celestia’s armies came into the city. She hid in a bush, got her weapons at the ready- a knockout gas bomb, a few ninja stars, and a knife in case things got extreme- and waited.

Canterlot, 1245 hours
Ice and Minty boarded the train that would take them into Canterlot. “What do you think the honor is for?” Ice asked.
Minty shrugged. “I have no idea. Not even the guard knew.”
Ice cocked her head. “Don’t you think that’s a little strange? Celestia not telling her messenger what she specifically needs us for?”
Minty shook his head. “No. There’s always the chance that the guard could have gotten kidnapped and tortured for information. Or the guard could have been a spy for Discord. You can’t trust many ponies anymore.”
Ice nodded. “That makes sense.”
Minty nodded. “Now, let’s just relax.”
The ride took almost no time at all- all the extra tracks were closed off, and this part of Ponyville was almost deserted, save for a few of Celestia’s guards.
Soon enough, the pair reached the big city. They couldn’t get off right away, since the guards had to clear the debris from the end of the tracks, ‘secure’ the area- Snow chuckled silently at this- and fight the door for it to open. After a few minutes, Ice and Minty got off the train. Snow saw her chance. She pulled the pin on the knockout bomb, and threw it. It landed with a soft thud on the grass near a few guards. They didn’t notice a thing until they started to get drowsy. The guards muttered incoherently, which caught Ice and Minty’s attention.
“What the hay...?” Minty asked, the gas getting to him before he could finish his sentence. He quickly fell to the ground, which alarmed Ice. “What the buck is going on?” He yelled, fighting off gas-induced sleep. Snow stepped out of the bushes, her knife in her mouth.
“Now, do you want to come quietly and in one piece, or silent and multiple pieces?” She asked around the knife. Ice’s eyes widened, and before he could say anything, he dropped to the ground, asleep. Snowsly laughed. “Quietly it is!” She threw Icefire onto her back, and flew back to Manehatten to show Ocean and Discord her accomplishment.
“Buck, you’re heavy.” Snowsly said, throwing Icefire onto the floor of her quarters. Discord and Ocean both praised her for her capture, but were disappointed that it wasn’t someone higher up. Snowsly made a mental note to find out how high up her targets were next time. She hid her weapons for when her capture woke up, and locked the doors and windows. “Guess I have to watch you until other orders,” Snowsly said, looking down at the pony.
