Sunlight Dawn is born to the newly wedded Princess Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry. The Sparkles live their happiness perfect harmony. But the happiness was not to last. From the shadows, Deep Sorrow has plans for the newborn girl and sends dark forces to kidnap her.

But all of a sudden, the newborn Sunlight Dawn becomes separated from her family and living in in a world unknown. Sunlight Dawn is living in a faraway land, not knowing what her identity is or where she originally came from.

Now the Sparkle family is devastated and tries to look for their lost princess. As everypony scrambles to find Sunlight Dawn, Deep Sorrow puts his plans in motion and spread a everlasting shadow over the lands of Equestria and finish what his father, King Sombra, started: to rule the Crystal Empire.
