Alone Time
Vulpecula took off from the balcony into the cool night.
It was only eleven and she'd already had enough. Royal duties are a bore, and the fact that her overly eager first cousin once removed Neve Amore was attempting to help was just too much for her.
She didn't want the stars arranged in love hearts, or the sky to be a deep pink. She just wanted everything the same as usual.
She found a small cloud just big enough to lay on. Folding her wings close to her body to help seal in heat, she was glad she had a little extra fluff to keep her warm in the chilly air.
Being up high meant that she could be alone, but it also meant it was much colder. She was thankful for her bat pony heritage.
She sighed and peeked her head over the edge of the cloud, watching the few lights below her flicker on and off, only tiny specks from the spot she was resting.
However, though it was early for the heir to the night, it was very late for the ponies of Equestria, and in a short amount of time, most of the lights turned off.
She sighed and flopped onto the cloud, wishing she had brought a book with her. She was far too tired to focus her magic to a teleportation or portal spell, so she nuzzled into the cloud for a quick nap.
Two hours later, Princess Luna found her daughter asleep on that same cloud.
“Vulpecula?” the young alicorn awoke with a start.
“Sorry mother, I was just-” The Night Princess raised a hoof to silence her daughter.
“I know, Amore can be a bit much, and I get you just needed alone time, but you still have duties Vulpecula. Please, just come back to the castle, I need help with dream patrol.”
Vulpecula bowed her head. “Mother, I was… Uh, wondering if maybe we could do it here?”
“Of course, my child.”
