Mama Twily's Stories

"WAAAAH!" Twilight Sparkle woke with start to the sound of her daughter's midnight crying.

These awakenings had been happening since Twinkle Quill was first born. Every night, well, morning, at exactly 12:00 am, Twilight would hear crying in her mind. According to Celestia, Alicorns cry silently until they learn to talk, affecting only any other alicorns nearby. So Twilight had to get up every morning at midnight, just because she was an alicorn. She found this distinctly unfair.

Being careful not to wake her wife, she slid out of her bed, and stood for a moment to stretch her wings, while levitating her glasses onto her face.

Once she left her room, she started to trot, knowing that Trixie wouldn't wake, due to the soundproofing of the crystal walls. She picked up the younger alicorn and placed her on her back. She immediately teleported herself into the library, her infant daughter still playing with Mama Twily's pretty feathers.

As soon as Twinkle realised what room they were in, she giggled and clapped her hooves.

Twilight walked over to a bookshelf, pulling out one of Twinkle's favourite books.

"Daring Do and the Gryphon's Goblet. By A.K.Yearling." She read out. Then she stopped. "You know, Twink, I think there's one of these I forgot to read you." Twinkle looked at her mother curiously.

"You know how Auntie Rainbow is in some of these?" She nodded her head, keeping her eyes on Twilight.

"I don't think I ever read you the first one she was in. I mean, I have it, but I only read it once or twice." Twinkle cocked her head why.

"I experienced it first hoof."

Twilight walked over to the shelf again, fully aware of her daughter's eyes following her. She reached to the back of the shelf, and pulled out a dusty book, with Rainbow Dash and Daring Do on the cover, headed by the title 'Daring Do and the Ring of Destiny' Twinkle clapped her hooves and giggled.

Twilight placed a small pile of books on the floor and leaned the book against it, then lay down in front of the books and let Twinkle crawl onto her back. She then lit a candle and started reading to her daughter.

"The end." Twilight finished the story, and turned her head, expecting her daughter to be asleep like always. But she was wide awake.

Then, a knock at the door, a single knock echoing throughout the entire first floor due to the cavernous ceilings. Twinkle was immediately on her hooves, waddling towards the door.

"Twinkle, wait for me to answer the door!" Twinkle kept walking

"TWINKLE QUILL! STOP!" Twinkle continued, now almost at the door. Twilight teleported herself between her daughter and the door. Twinkle stopped in her tracks.

Twilight turned towards the door, and Twinkle immediately ducked under her, apparently finally recognising possible danger.

Twilight opened the door slowly. And there, standing in the doorway, was Daring Do, and a small, golden brown pegasus filly.

"Hey, Twilight. Got a spare room?"
