Don't Mess with Fluttershy's Mare

Prelude

Since her reformation, Starlight Glimmer had become friends with Twilight and her friends but she had developed a special bond with one that she had not the others, and surprisingly it is the one who exposed her in "Our Town" that she had grown so close to, Fluttershy. Almost immediately once they began to spend more time together, something special began to develop between them and soon they realized it was love, true love. It had become the type of love that caused them to become inseparable for the most part. Now Starlight has decided the time has come to cement her relationship with Fluttershy, to hopefully forge a bond that will be eternal.

It was another beautiful morning in Ponyville as the sun woke Starlight up. She quickly got out of bed and readied herself for the day ahead. She was particularly happy because her marefriend had invited her to a picnic. She had special plans for this picnic though, she was ready to move things to the next level. She had decided that the time to propose to her marefriend had come.

She skipped down the stairs into the dining hall in Twilight's castle with a huge smile on her face. Twilight saw this and asked, "Good morning Starlight, what is up with the smile?"

Starlight asked in return, "Do you promise not to tell anypony?"

Twilight replied, "Of course."

Starlight said, "Well Fluttershy has invited me to a picnic today and I plan on making it special." She pulled out a gold necklace with a diamond ring on it. She continued, "I'm going to ask Fluttershy to marry me today!"

Twilight gasped, "This soon? You two have only been dating for three months."

Starlight replied, "Yes. I know it may seem soon but when we spend time together I can just feel the love from her. Our energies seem to merge into one and I know she truly loves me and I truly love her."

Twilight sighed, "I know. You spend more time daydreaming about her than you do focusing on your friendship studies." Twilight became more serious and continued, "Starlight, you aren't going to get mad and revert to your old self if she says no are you? You won't hold anything against her if she says no, will you?"

Starlight replied, "Of course not. I'll be sad but I'll accept the fact that she thought I was trying to rush things."

Twilight smiled, "Good. Let's eat some breakfast and tell you what, why don't you take the morning off. I know that is the time you two usually have your picnics."

Starlight hugged her and replied, "Thank you Twilight! You're too good to me."

Twilight said, "Well I want you to be happy and if spending time with Fluttershy makes you happy, then I want you to do it."

While they were eating their breakfast Fluttershy was readying herself for the picnic. While she was happy, she was also nervous as she wanted to make herself extra beautiful for her. She decided she would ask her animals, "What should I do to make myself extra beautiful for Starlight?"

Angel opened the door and began pointing towards the garden. Fluttershy followed him and noticed he was pointing towards some daisies and then her mane. Fluttershy asked, "You think wearing daisies in my mane will make me extra beautiful."

Angel began squeaking and nodding his head in approval. Fluttershy continued, "Alright Angel bunny, if you think that is good, I'll do it."

Fluttershy proceeded to put three daisies in her mane up by her ear before she grabbed some cucumber sandwiches and headed out. While she was excited for her picnic with Starlight like she has been for months, something in the back of her mind kept telling her that something special was going to happen that day, despite having this feeling, she tried to not act overly excited.

A couple hours after eating her breakfast, Starlight put some cider in her saddlebags and headed towards the park. Her and Fluttershy had agreed that she would bring the cider while Fluttershy would supply the food. She couldn't help but be nervous on her way to the park. She kept on thinking to herself, "What if she says no? What if she thinks I'm trying to rush her and dumps me? What if she decides to hate me?" She smacked herself and said, "Come on Starlight. You know she loves you and if she says no, just wait until she is ready."

Around ten they arrived at the park. They ran to one another and embraced. Starlight said, "Fluttershy sweetie, it is so good to see you!"

Fluttershy replied, "I am happy to see you too Starlight!"

They lovingly kissed before sitting down to eat their meal. Starlight asked, "So honey, how have things been going since I last saw you."

Fluttershy replied, "Uhm, well they have been going well. Angel has been a bit pickier that normal."

Starlight laughed, "Well it's just part of who he is. I'm sure he appreciates you with as good as you are to him." She gave Fluttershy a smile and continued, "Fluttershy, you look absolutely lovely with those daisies in your mane!"

Fluttershy blushed, "I wore them just for you. I know how you love it when I do that."

Starlight replied, "I do love it! You are the most beautiful pony I have ever known but when you do that, it makes you even more beautiful!"

After that Starlight seemed to grow nervous and just couldn't seem to even eat that much. Fluttershy saw this and asked, "Starlight, what is wrong. Usually you devour my sandwiches, don't you like them?"

Starlight replied, "Well uh, uh....." She decided the time had come she levitated the necklace and ring out of her saddlebag and began, "Fluttershy, I know we have only been together for three months and you know how much I love you." She began to stutter a bit as she continued, "I tru-truly love you Fluttershy, I-I love you more than anything in the world an-and I can't imagine how my life would be without you." She began to tear up, levitated the necklace and ring to Fluttershy and asked, "Flut-Fluttershy, would you marry me? Would you make me the happiest mare in the world?"

Fluttershy put the necklace on and began to cry tears of joy, "Yes Starlight, yes! Yes I'll marry you!"

The two began to cry harder and engaged in a loving kiss, the type that neither mare wished would ever have to end. Many ponies in town were watching the two but couldn't help but feel happy for them. They knew of Starlight's past and how she had changed and they knew how much her and Fluttershy loved one another. Finally the two broke their kiss and held one another close as they finished their meal.

After an hour Fluttershy asked, "Starlight, don't you think you should get back to Twilight's castle? I'm sure she'll be upset if you are late for your study session."

Starlight replied, "Yeah, I probably should get going." They stood up, kissed again and Starlight continued, "Can I see you again tonight honey? Could we have supper together?"

Fluttershy replied, "Of course!"

Both expressed their love for one another before leaving the park. One pony couldn't help but watch their interaction with a sense of jealousy. While he had not seen Starlight in years, he was hoping that he could talk to her, get to know her all over again and maybe steal her away from Fluttershy.
