The Cello Player and The Music Star
"Heart, wake up! I bought some muffins from Sugarcube Corner, and I WILL eat yours if you don't come down!" Octavia laughed. I was in bed. I brushed my mane and walked downstairs, grabbing a muffin with my magic.
"I've always been jealous of you being a unicorn. But I don't care too much." My little filly sister giggled.
"Are you serious?" I questioned. Octavia chuckled. "I need to get ready for my show, today. I didn't technically agree to it, but Photo Finish insisted. I got a concert in a few hours in... Canterlot."
"Canterlot?" Octavia was shocked.
"Don't worry. After I begged her for a while, she gave you a ticket and, a backstage pass!" I handed her the ticket and put the pass around her neck. "I suggest you keep that close, I can't believe how many fans I've gotten in a matter of days. She's really dedicated to her art of finding stars." I frowned, but then managed to smile for a few seconds.
"Considering she doesn't find singing stars, but fashion stars, I'll take your word for it." Tavi smirked.
We both laughed as I picked out a dress and smiled. A limo pulled up to the house moments later, time to go. As a foal, I didn't know what to do to ensure the future came out right. But when I tried, I only sealed myself from my sister for a long, long time.
Octavia and I were backstage, and I was nervous. Photo Finish came in with her makeup and wardrobe, slapping on me what seemed like a pound of mascara and blush, as well as some eyeliner. Then I got smacked into a poof-y green dress and was pushed into position onstage, where the curtains would open in minutes. Photo Finish let Octavia onstage for just a few seconds to wish good luck. She beamed at me, and told me that I would be fine. I wasn't giving up on my destiny now. Not today, anyway.
"Are you sure you know the song you're singing? If we're going to make 'The MAGICS!' special, you'll have to make it count! This advertising, modeling, and honor, to preform on stage in front of thousands of ponies in the capital of Equestria, does not come cheap. Even if you're only a filly!" Photo Finish snapped.
"Yep!" I smiled. When I said that, the lights flashed for two seconds, and stopped.
"It's time for your moment to shine! I go!" Photo Finish left, and the curtain rose, instruments began playing. I held my head up high.
"I'd like to dedicate this song, to my lovely and comforting sister, Octavia!" I shouted with glee, and the ponies murmured with excitement.
"I lift my head, and see over the crowd's smiles, yeah
I focus now, not giving up.
I freeze in fear, but remember I can't quit now
I turn my head, and you take a bow
My true love, I'll stop for you
I want you to hear, want you to hear
My song for you, in hopes we stay
Together, forever
I love you, and you love me
Sisters for life!
If I hurt you, you'd forgive me
Sisters for life!
I've always known, that'd you never give up on me, yeah
We'd never stop, having our backs.
In sun and storm, I'd never leave you behind.
And I know, you'd do the same
My true love, I'll stop for you
I want you to hear, want you to hear
My song for you, in hopes we stay
Together, forever
I enjoy your company
Sisters for life!
And I know, you enjoy mine
Sisters for life!
Sisters. For. Life!
Born kind, born loved.
Living on each other's dreams.
Born kind, and raised with HOPE! Oh, yeah!
If you hurt me, I'd forgive you
Sisters for life!
And if I hurt you, you'd forgive me
Sisters for life!
We're sisters, and sisters love."
Every pony in the concert hall shouted and cheered once the song ended, and Octavia ran up to me, in tears with the biggest smile on her face I had ever seen. "T-that was... IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!" Octavia whined, leaning onto me, and grinning. The ponies cheered even more. Photo Finish said she was amazed by my performance, and proclaimed she'd take me on a world tour of Equestria so every pony could hear my amazing voice. Octavia and I were shocked on how she responded.
"B-but, why? Didn't you hear my song? Sisters For Life? You can't break us up, we're a music duo!" I cried.
"Heart, it's your dream. Do it for me. I won't let you give up your cutie mark and your very destiny, all for me. No matter how nice that actually would be, for any pair of sisters. Do this. Do it for me." Octavia stared deep in my eyes, confident that I should make my choice and go on the tour.
"B-but... Okay." I teared up, my voice slightly cracking. "Sisters for life?"
"Sisters for life. I'll never forget you."
I went with Photo Finish, to start my tour the next few days after, and I never saw her again.
The Cello Player and The Music Star
Octavia was backstage, preparing for our first show. We were both fillies and had volunteered to play in our favorite band The Hoover's place when their tour carriage broke down in Manehattan. She was polishing her cello and went to the closet to get more polishing liquid, when she bumped into me. I blew the grey and pink bangs out of my face, and smiled. My rosy coat made me easy to tell apart from my sister, even if we didn't have our marks yet. A tall, buff pony trotted backstage. He was light blue, had a green flat mane, and green eyes. His cutie mark was a camera.
"You two foals are on in five minutes. You sure you know their hit song?" His voice was raspy.
"Yes, Sir. Don't worry, the concert will be great. My sister has the best singing voice in town!" My sister grinned.
"Oh, really? We'll see then. Get ready to play." He walked off, smirking. The curtains opened and we started the show. Octavia had started attempting to play an upbeat jazzy tune with a touch of pop with her cello. I began to sing.
"Oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah
I tried and tried again, I fell timeless times
I know I'll never fail
I'll never give up, I'll never give up
I will quit when I reach the end (repeat after "yeah!")
I can win in the end, if it could it'd make time bend
I can win in the end, if it could it'd make time bend (times 2)
Oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah
I won't quit until it's over, I won't quit until it's over
You can't make me quit, YEAH!
Song ends
And that's when it happened. Right there on stage, in the middle of the song, we got our cutie marks. Every pony stomped with their hooves and cheered for us, and we smiled as we continued the lyrics again, and finished. Later after the show, we ran backstage to look at each other's marks. Mine was a bunch of musical notes, where the bottoms were hearts. Octavia's was a simple purple note that looked similar to one of mine. We squealed with glee and clapped our hooves together. Ponies would smile at us and make requests. We always refused them, but thanked them. I even got an offer to be sponsored by Photo Finish! We were so close back then. But years after, we would see each other less and less, and slowly drift apart.
