The scientist were to begin their journey of the ages. The sphere was well made from materials that could withstand the elements, but would it be enough?
The man in a heavy slightly singed lab coat smiled at the two as they were entering the sphere. Another scientist stuck all the expensive surveillance and testing equipment in the pod, making the space to live in very very small.
"how you two feeling?" A scientist called through his headset.
"well I've been better, I actually feel kind of uncomfortable."
The scientist nodded, " Good, uncomfortable is a good thing."
"why?"
"Because uncomfortable is smaller and less likely to break."
The machine began arching electricity and the edges began spinning, as the room suddenly got a lot hotter. The scientists donned their heat-proof gear and their sun-viewing goggles.
The majority of the scientists were behind a special viewing window where it was safe, supposedly anyway.
As the scientists were put into the sphere, they were given only a one room space to live in, the door was sealed shut behind them.
Finally, the sphere was ready to be launched into the reactor, The scientist now left the room to view the experiment from a safer distance through a video feed. The scientists behind the viewing window began to run the experiment remotely.
Thomas began to panic, "Honey, I- I can't breathe!"
His wife tried calming him down, "Honey please calm down, we'll be in cryonic sleep. We won't really need to breathe. Not even a little."
"I can't breathe! Get me out of here!"
"No can do Thomas, you knew what you were signing on for. Just relax, and sit tight, you will be done with this before you know it."
"Honey, do you need to call this one off? I can always be with a different scientist that's a little less claustrophobic."
"No, no- I got this, I promise to stop freaking out. How are my vitals John?"
"All in the green Thomas, Now do I have to go over the basics of this mission again?"
"Everything is relative, go through the generated wormhole, investigate the other side 'given that I survive' and report back through my communicating device anything that I see, living or otherwise."
"Good memory, Basically we need to see if the other side has anything of note that would be of interest to the scientific community. Are you sure you are ready?"
"Ready as I will ever be."
"Ok, launching in ten, nine, eight-"
Thomas and his wife were sealed inside of the sphere, and proceeded to fall into cryonic sleep.
