The doors of my office flew open in a rush, filling my large and dark office with un-welcome light. Standing in the well-lit door-way was a black silhouette of a mare standing on her hind legs. It was my boss, Trenda. “Jad!” She screamed. “Inmate #3301 is ready for you”. I strained my eyes to adapt to the light, but failed. I gave up and just decided to cover my eyes with my wings. “Very well, Trenda. Send him in”. The figure in my door-way stomped her hoof and before I could comprehend what was going on a large table that held a strapped down stallion was being wheeled into my office. “Here we go again…” I muttered to myself. “You know you love it, Jad” Trenda laughed as she walked away, slamming my doors shut behind her.

My office once again was dim and dark. I was used to it, others were not. Walking up to the table I examined a very scared stallion. He was wrapped tightly in a straightjacket with a muzzle in his mouth, a blindfold over his eyes, and to make it worse, he was tied down to the table. I picked up the clipboard that was sitting on the foot of his table and started reading his description. “Onyx Hemmingsworth is it”? I asked the stallion. He shook his head rapidly up and down. To make things easier I went ahead and removed his muzzle.

“Welcome to my office, Onyx” I said with a calm voice, “My name is Jad Omega. Do you know why you are here?” The terrified stallion replied with a shaky voice “N-no sir. I was s-sleeping in my b-bed and bef-fore I-I knew it I was b-being t-tied down to this t-table…”. I laughed a bit, that only seemed to make him even more frightened. “You see, Onyx” I continued, relaxed “This is an Insane Asylum. You were admitted here because you’re mentally insane. Is that not correct”? He responded, unsure of what to say “Y-yes. No? Maybe…I’m n-not sure.”

I walked around the table on my hind legs, holding his clipboard and reading his description out loud. “Hemmingsworth, Onyx. Age, 21. Sex, Male. Eye color, Green. Mane color, Black. Reason of Admittance…After a court trial in Abredale’s Court on October 23rd, Onyx Hemmingsworth was found not guilty of a four pony murder by reason of…insanity”. Reading that word out loud made me smile a small bit. “You see, Onyx. Ponies coming into my office is rare.” I said. “W-why Is that?” he remarked.

I stopped beside his table and continued “As you know, this Asylum tries to work with CURING the mentally insane instead of just harboring them in a cell. However, my office is different. My job isn’t to cure the insanity, my job is to punish it”. Hearing my words the stallion stiffened up and gasped sharply. “P-punish it?! B-but I didn’t d-do anything wrong!!” he exclaimed. “Onyx Onyx Onyx…” I said, my voice sounding more and more possessed with each word “You killed four innocent ponies last month. Insane or not, did you think you can get away with it? Did you think to yourself that just by pleading insane that all your problems would go away?” I said, starting to get angry. “…y-yes…” the stallion said, feeling remorse for his actions. I laughed as I opened my wings to pull out my knife. “Think again”.
