Chapters Everyday Ambobrosia was happy.
Even while the other changelings were moaning about the miss of love and complaining about the new food. Bread.
She remained happy and cheerful.
Amobrosia looked at the glass half full,unlike her bleak and angry aunt,Queen Chrysalis.
Chrysalis was ever so angry and mad these days. Sparks of anger flew out of nowhere from the evil queen. All she ever talked about was Shining Armor,if not Cadnece. Ambrosia was always trying to cheer up the active volcano,but it would either end with tears or a slap on the cheek.
Queen Miasma,the old student of Chryslais,was a bit more different. Miasma seemed to comfort Ambrosia and try to pretend like everything was normal. When everyone could tell it wasn't.
"How did it end this time?"Miasma asked Ambrosia one day.
Ambrosia had attempted to cheer her aunt up with a corny joke. Failure.
"Not good."Ambrosia answered gloomily.
Miasma sighed."Can't you just give up?"
Ambrosia shook her head. She cared for her aunt,but it was embarrassing for a princess to care of her family member.
The Changeling Law was strict. Any sign of affection caught was consider shameful. That's why you could only make friendship bracelet in private,hug secretly,and even small talk was mysteriously done underground.
It wasn't a world that Ambrosia liked.
Ambrosia sort if though outside the box. Is she was given the chance to be a real pony,she would blend right in.
She did have transformation powers but she would have to get to Canterlot or some ditzy little pony town.
"No."Ambrosia answered,this time a bit more less sorry for herself.
Miasma groaned."I've been trying to cheer up ol' Myxine."
Queen Myxine was a boy headed Queen. She was the younger sister to Chrysalis. She was always jealous of her older sister's power. Both of Chrysalis and Myxine were atrociously no fun. All of them set in power.
"Did your plan work?"Ambrosia asked.
"It's the 134th fail."Smart Miasma replied.
Miasma used to be a student. She was very smart,and used to be that isolated book changeling. It's hard to believe that ever happened.
It wasn't long ago of a matter of fact,Ambrosia had foal sitted Miasma and helped her study. But now look at the Besties,they were monarchs to thousand of shape shifting ponies. Life wasn't a dream any more.
Ambrosia giggled. She thought it was sort of funny that Miasma had 134 fails.
"I know."Miamsa confessed as she rolled her eyes.
"So do you wanna maybe go see what Myxine is doing?"Amborsia questioned.
"That's half way across Hive!"Miasma complained.
"You could use some flying exercise."Ambrosia commented as she flew out the window.
Hive was beautiful. Even though it was in the Badlands it had it's perks, Everything around them was made of layered sandstone. Every skyscraper was beautifully layered to make a rainbow of warm colors. The best part was every building had a great number of Windows,so you could easily fly in and out.
Below all the high buildings were small markets. Little tents selling knick knacks and things from normal ponies. The markets also sold the major food source,bread.
Bread wasn't interesting but you could put honey,tree sap,or even changeling goop on it. That made it more appetizing. Don't ask what changeling goop is though...
"Come on slowpoke!"Ambrosia called to Miasma as she flew through a hazard of flying changelings.
"Who you calling slow?"Miasma playfully challenged as she flew over the group of slowing flying changelings.
Ambrosia speed up and tried to follow her friend through the city.
Even though Ambrosia was captivated by the beautiful city she longed to live in Canterlot and be subject to the Laws of Friendship.
Deep down Ambrosia secretly wanted a hug. It was a deadly sin in Hive. The last hug she remembered was when she was just a larvae,just a wiggling worm. It was a hug from her parents before they were slaughtered.
They were killed due to a food shortage,before changelings ate bread.
That's right before bread was discovered changelings used weaker ones as food. Ambrosia wished she could know what her parents thought of her as a princess. Ofcourse only Celestia knows that!
But now the changelings had become more civilized. The proper from would be less savage in Ambrosia's opinion.
"Beat ya!"Miasma yelled as she landed on the balcony of Myxine's Library.
"No fair...I got lost!"Ambrosia lied.
Miasma laughed.
The two then entered the library. The library had no books,only small scrolls that kept track of history. Myxine was in charge of it,since Chryslais hogged the queenly duties.
Typical.
"Hello."Myxine coldly greeted them.
"Hi!"Ambrosia greeted kindly.
"What do you girls want?"Myxine asked.
"We wanted to...."Miasma began but she looked at Ambrosia. It was her idea.
"Wanted to tell you a joke."Ambrosia cheerfully said.
Ambrosia had always wanted to be a comedian in Canterlot.
Highly unlikely though! Who would want to see a pony filled with holes make jokes? Not her!
"Why did the cyclops close the school?"Ambrosia asked.
"Why?"Myxine sarcastically responded.
"He only had....one pupil!"Ambrosia exclaimed.
Both Ambrosia add Miasma laughed,but Myxine just stared.
"Needs work."Myxine commented bitterly.
Ambrosia sighed and flew off into Hive again.
Miasma followed.
The two changelings didn't really talk as they flew back to the palace. For once Ambirsia was not happy. Not sad but clearly giving up.
"No one understands me."Ambrosia thought."And no one ever will."
One the two reached the castle Miasma said,"I gotta go.See ya in a bit."
The changeling Queen flew off.
Miasma didn't know what to say. Changelings didn't go through friendship problems. This was just in her mature to abandon Ambrosia.
You can never take away an animal's instinct. Even if you try.
Ambrosia sighed. No one will understand me.
"Hello!"A squeaky pony hollered.
Ambrosia had reached Ponyville and apparently fallen asleep on a bench.
"You look funny."The pony added.
Ambrosia looked up to see a pink pony with bouncy hot pink hair. The pony also had three small balloons marked on her flank.
"Hello."Ambrosia greeted as she rubbed her sleepy eyes.
"Get up silly filly!"The pony coaxed.
Ambrosia slowly sat up and sleepily stared at the pony.
"Oh where are my manners? My name is Pinkameana Dianne Pie,Pinkie for short!"The pony introduced herself.
"I am Que---."Ambrosia rembered she was no longer a ruler."My name is Ambrosia."
"Nice to meet ya!"Pinkie said as she shook Ambrosia's hoof forcefully.
Ambrosia already liked Pinkie. She was warm and friendly. Beastly she didn't a re that Ambrosia was a changeling.
"Hey do I know you from-?"Pinkie asked until Ambrosia interrupted.
"No.I would've rembered such a PINK-tastic pony."Amborsia recited one of her jokes.
"Hilarious!"Pinkie exclaimed giggling.
Thus was so strange. No one ever laughed at Ambrosi'a joke. The usual reaction was simply a cold shoulder.
"So where can I get a bit to eat?"Ambrosai politely asked.
"Ooh! I know!"Pinkie exclaimed as she grabbed Ambrosia and raced through the town.
Ponyville wasn't beautiful it was magnificent! The colors were variant depending on what home you looked at. Everyone in the town was different.
To blend in Ambrosia morphed into a pony she saw that appealed to her.
"How did ya do that?"Pinkie asked.
Shoot! She must've noticed.
No one on the street really noticed. Most of them were busy or just plain lazy with sight.
"It's a magic spell."Ambrosia lied.
"You look a lot like Lyra..only with a black coat and yellow mane."Pinkie commented.
"Yeah. Lyra's hair just appealed to me." This time it was the truth.
"Okie dokie lokie!"Pinkie agreed.
Ambrosia had never heard that word,but she for sure liked it!
"So...."Pinkie began."Where ya from?"
"The Badlands."Ambrosia answered.
"So you must be from Dodge Junction?"
Ambrosia just nodded. It wasn't technically lying if she nodded.
"Anyways here we are!"Pinkie exclaimed as her pink hoof pointed to an odd house.
It looked like the Wedding Cake at Cadence's wedding. The roof looke like frosting and the colors looked sweet and soft. The best part was a sign with what appeared to be bread on it. Only the bread had pink changeling goop on it (once again don't ask) The whole general building was amazing;like everything in the town.
"Welcome to Sugar Cube Corner!"Pinkie said as she lead Ambrosia into the delicious smelling cottage.
When Ambrosia and Pinkie stepped in they heard a voice,"Welcome."
The voice came from a stout little blue pony with a pink changeling goop like hair. She wore a yellow apron and huge hit pink earrings. This pony also had an odd marking in her flank.
"I'm Mrs.Cake!"The pony kindly introduced herself."Hiw may I help you new pony?"
Ambrosia didn't speak but looked at Pinkie.
"She is kind of slow."Pinkie joked."Jut get us two cupcakes."
"Right away Pinkie."Mrs.Cake said as she waddled over to the counter.
Ambrosia looked around the room. The changeling goop bread was on pictures and all sorts of things. It must be some religious symbol,Ambrosia thought to herself.
"Here ya are!"Mrs.Came exclaimed as she handed Pinkie a plate with the two "breads" on it.
"Eat up!"Pinkie told Ambrosia as she popped one into her mouth.
Ambrosia picked the other one up and bit it.
Mind blown!
It was the most interesting taste ever! Sweet creamy....it was delicious.
"Can I have another?" Ambrosia whispered to Pinkie.
Mrs.Cake must've overheard and gave Ambrosia a plate.
Immediately Ambrosia popped one in her mouth. It was even more delicious!
Ambrosia was about to ask for another but Pinkie said,"Woah better watch your calories!"
Calories?
"Okay."Amborisia obeyed. There must be a good reason why.
It was just such a good experience.
Yet deep down Ambrosia sort of missed home.
"You can stay here for the night."Pinkie offered."My apartment is right upstairs."
"Okay."Ambrosia agreed.
Pinkie showed Ambrosia the room.
"This is Gummy."Pinkie said as she picked up a baby alligator.
"Awww."Ambrosia reacted.
"Hmmm most people would scream and run like a maniac."Pinkie then let the little gator run around on the ground.
The alligator just stood there and licked it's big purple eye.Eww!
"You can sleep in the air mattress."Pinkie told Ambrosia as she tried to pull a mattress out of the closet.
Pinkie was really generous and kind. Was this how it was? Was it okay to hug even?
Ambrosia didn't know and wanted to find out. Later though.
"Little help!"Pinkie called. She was stuck under the mattress which has fallen on top of her.
Ambrosia raced over and lifted the mattress up and set is aside.
"Thanks buddy!"Pinkie thanked her.
Buddy?
"Your welcome...pal!"Ambrosia responded cheerfully.
Pinkie smiled.
This was a strange little town. A strange little town indeed,but it was better than Hive.
"I am staying here."Ambrosia thought that night.
The Stars twinkled outside. Get seems to twinkle in agreement. Even the moon appeared to encourage her with its soft beams if moon light that flowed through the window.
Pinkie was fast asleep,missing the beautiful sky show.
Pinkie was so nice. No one in Hive would have ever done that. They would've kicked her to the curb as if she was a piece if trash. Even if she was a queen. No one cared.
Here ponies cared and were nice.
Ambrosia looked at Pinkie.
Ambrosia then slipped into the bed with Pinkie and hugged her tightly.
It felt good to hug her. She was warm unlike the changeling exoskeletons.
The stars stilled shined on her hugging ceremony.
Ambrosia though could never get this view from the city. The city lights would just out shine the stars,but in Ponyville they were free to shine.
Ambrosia was free to shine.
Not cooped up by some stupid city.
The stupid city she would never go to again. It was official.
She would never return as long as she lived.
"Miasma I think you need to give up."Myxine told Miasama.
Miasma had searched the place for the fifth time already.
"I should look around Hive then!"Miasma suggested.
Myxine argued,"We've sent thousands of search parties out and no one has seen her. It is pointless."
"She couldn't have just disappeared!"Miasma cried.
Myxine tried to calm her down."Look I am sure she is safe."
"How do you know?"Miasma angrily disagreed.
"I just do."Myxine lied. Ambrosia was probualy caught by a carnibal or something dreadful.
"What if she left Hive?"Miasma then thought outloud.
"Goodness no!"Myxine said. She then blushed. It was wiring for a changeling to care about someone other than themself
"Maybe Chrsi will let me go?"Miasma brain stormed aloud again.
"First don't call her Chrysi. Secondly you're nuts! Ponies hate changelings!"
"Changelings change." Chrysalis said as she entered the room.
Ambrosia was in her bed.
The day was now over. Changeling law required only nocturnal changelings to be up at this hour. Amborsia was a day changeling so she would be pushed if caught awake.
"What if I run away?"Ambrosia thought.
That was possible.
She could shape shift into an original pony and blend right in with the ponies of Equestria. No one would suspect a thing.
Even the changelings couldn't find her. She would be long gone and out of reach. As well as unrecognizable!
Perfect!
"Ok what will I need?"Ambrosia asked herself as she got out of her chryslais bed that hung from the ceiling.
She rummages through her spider silk bags of things.
She decided she could take a map, a box of matches,a jar of changeling goop,and a picture if herr family.
The picture was an old photo of Chryslais,Miasma,Myxine,and even Chryslais all smiling at the Canterlot wedding. Before they were caught.
In the background of the photo was Cadnece tied up and struggling.
"I'll miss you guys."She said as she shoved the picture into her leaf pouch of things she was bringing.
Ambrosia had gotten out of the city.
She was still not near any sign of civilazation.
"Let's see."Ambrosia said as she looked at the map.
The map was pretty simple. She didn't want to go to Appleloosa. Too southern. Not Manehatten. Too busy. Then Canterlot was on a really steep mountain. No!
But then she saw Ponyville.
It was a sweet looking country town. It seemed to be on flat land and just a short three hour journey. Also it would be easy to blend in there. All sorts of ponies lived at Ponyville.
Or so Ambrosia had heard...
"Ok let's go!"Ambrosia exclaimed into sandy dessert night sky.
She began to fly through the starry sky. Not a single cloud got in her way and she for once felt free. The Chageling Law only allowed changelings to fly at a specific altitude,but that wasn't the law.
Ambrosia listened to the Ambrosian Law now!
"Woohoo!"Ambrosia shouted as she flew through the air and into the distance.
"Ponyville here I come!"She yelled again.
Her voice echoed in response as if a friend was calling her to Ponyville.
A new Ambrosian Law:Friends!
That was a good law to keep indeed.
