2: Hero of Time?

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Applejack slowed to a trot. Our green clad hero, Link, wasn’t heavy, the apple buckets on the farm were heavier than him. She slowed because her mane hurt from his constant tugging every time she rounded a turn. It’s also much easier to make conversation in a trot instead of a full run.

“So what’s it like in Hyrule? It sounds like a dandy place!”

Being the audience, you don’t hear what he said. Just know he tells of his story. The story we know as Ocarina of Time.

Applejack was astounded by the concept of another universe.”Hold on now Sally! Chosen hero of the Goddesses? Sounds a bit fishy to me ,”she mustered a chuckle.”Then again if you would’ve said I represent the Element of Honesty, I would have called ya crazy!”

Obviously Link questioned what the Element of Honesty was, and before long Applejack was telling Link the story of Nightmare Moon and the Elements of Harmony. She also talked about the other major events up to episode 10 (Swarm of the Century), which had just happened about a month ago.

Meanwhile, Navi, still hiding in the alleyway did, in fact, hear Link revelation and flew into the streets upon hearing his voice.”Hey! Hey!”she shouted hoping to get his attention. She could only see the distraught faces of the ponies upon seeing another parasprite. She knew Link was in this town, and she was going to find him! Unfortunately, Navi had hidden in the alleyway across the street from Sugarcube Corner. Pinkie had been the first to see the glowing light emerge out into the streets and was quickly on her way to gather the necessary instruments.

While talking to Link, Applejack had turned her head and crashed into the library in classic MLP humor. She knocked on the door and was responded by, “It’s open!” the terrified voice of Twilight replied.

The reference to entering into a tree is too obvious, completely removing all humor from the situation. This is SERIOUS STUFF PEOPLE! This is no fanfic, nor is this a video game, this is REAL LIFE MAN!...

... I’m still in control of the story though, and I say the reason Twilight nor Spike came to the door was because the tree was infested by a giant spider, about the size of two ponies. (see what I did there? entering tree, giant spider. lol)

“You tell him Link!” Applejack yelled as support.

Link reached for his adventure pack and pulled out his slingshot. He quickly shot the spider’s one, giant, bulging eye.... It immediately died in a puff of purple smoke. Link stood there staring at the lack of spider. Honestly, Link expected more of a fight, at least a more rewarding death, but this was no video game. Oh, well.

Twilight tried to thank him, but it was hard to thank a creature which you had only heard of in video games. At least she knew he spoke Equestrian (which is the same as Hyrulian). “Thanks for, uh, saving Spike and me from that horrible spider. My name is Twilight Sparkle. I am here researching friendship for my mentor, Princess Celestia."

Link introduced himself and Applejack excused Twilight into the other room to explain the situation. Link casually walked outside to catch some fresh air. What is going on ? Fine, I’ll let you read his thoughts. Must be a mission from the Goddesses. Navi would know. His attempt to call for Navi obviously failed. He heard a happy polka beat and felt better knowing the townsponies were happier than himself. If only Navi were here with him.

Navi, meanwhile wished Link was with her too. The rest of the ponies had run away and hidden, but this pink one expected her to stoop to the level of those detestations, those parasprites, as she herself had been called. Link would be able to stop her. She sighed, “I’ll never find Link at this rate!” That’s when she heard a familiar voice calling.

Navi tried focusing on where Link voice was coming from but couldn’t concentrate on it enough to hear it over Pinkie’s accordion. She just wanted to get away from that band on hooves.

She soon found herself that she had flown high enough she couldn’t hear the melody, although still able to hear the beat of the tuba and cymbals, but still could not locate the sound of Link’s voice. It was getting dark, and she needed a place to rest. Creepy dark alleyways are harder to sleep in than you would think.

She bumped into a cloud. She looked surprised.

I feel I should break here to explain Navi’s surprise. In Hyrule, the clouds were what the clouds are here on Earth: water vapor. When I say she bumped INTO a cloud I mean the cloud stopped her from continuing forward.

She never thought about sleeping in a cloud, but it will do. So she carved out a little cave and a bed and dosed off to sleep. She wanted to find Link but was too tired to keep looking, and her moral was low due to that blasted polka. Navi noticed the beat had stopped.

“She must have given up. Maybe now...(yawn)... I can... get... some... slee...,” her sentence was cut off by her own snoring.
