Depression

Previous ChapterI walk to school with nothing but my leather jacket on and some old ripped up jeans along with some combat boots. Its around mid fall and everyone is worried about this year's fall formal. Personally I could give less of a shit about it but it is kinda funny watching all these people going around and freaking out on who will they ask to this stupid dance, I think to myself about asking Sunset to the formal but that would be out of character for me, plus I don't think that she or anyone else in the school think I even exist.
I finally get into the school and walk to the benches that are outside of the principal's office. I don't know why but I find that this is the best spot in the school, this and under the stairs.
Vice principal Luna walks up with a smile that makes me sick, she turns and notices me as she opens the door and asks "Why are you here so early Milo?"
This caught me off guard but I find that this is expected from the school staff, especially the principals. I just sit there in my own world thinking about how things will turn out for today, then I reply to Luna. "I like the quiet and you look like I need a drink by the way." A smile coming across my face like when you find the Christmas presents two months early in your parent's closet.
Lets just say that Luna wasn't to fond of that last comment, but right as she was about to scold me for saying such remarks Sunset walks up and now things are at an awkward pause.
"Why hello Sunset, didn't expect you to be hear this early also, I was about to tell this student here that such comments should be kept to one's self, even though it may or may not be true." Luna says in a disgustingly happy voice.
Sunset looks at me and smiles, its the most beautiful smile I've seen it fills me with the most utter sense of dread and hate. I get out a pen and a scrap piece of paper that I had in my pocket, quickly writing a note down " meet me out front near the statue when everyone is gone, even the staff, janitors don't count."
I get up and slip the paper into Sunset's bag then walk away.
Its lunchtime and everything is normal, or what I call a normal day in my mind, some peace and quite under the stairs and a burger. As always I have my pack with me at this time to keep appearances but whats in my bag is a different story, its not books or pens like a normal student would keep there. I have an extra set of clothes with shoes along with a pint of whiskey.
As I am eating lunch I hear some footsteps coming down the hall, scrambling to put my booze away in my bag I smash the burger while doing so; just as things couldn't get worse right. The sound of footsteps gets closer and closer, I see Sunset with the note in her hand.
Talking to herself. "Who put this in my backpack, and why does it say, meet me out at the statue after everyone is gone even staff?"
I get humor out of this, and decide to speak up. "You don't normally come down this hall during lunch Sunset."
"Who said that?" Sunset says with a gasp she looks around wondering where I am.
"I did." Replying with a monotone voice
Sunset still looking around trying to find the voice
"Down here." I say while laying back on the backpack I had, burger still smashed and on the floor. And I had a small cup full of whiskey next to me.
"Oh, sorry I didn't see you there." Sunset said with an tone that made it seem like she was sorry, but I knew she wasn't.
"So... Did you see anything when you were walking up, because like I said you don't normally come down here during lunch." I say flatly
"What do you mean, did you have your cigarettes out again or something else." Sunset said in a confused tone.
"First off how did you know I smoke, second have you been following me?" I say while getting up and walking to the girl with hair like crimson with golden streaks.
Sunset is taken back a bit at the last statement she backs up a little as I get closer. "No; what made you think that. And have you been watching me because I never see you in any of the classes even though the teachers call your name for the roll calls." She asks.
"I watch everyone, and no one knows about it. You're the first to notice Sunset." I tell her in a sad tone while looking down at the ground.
"Sweet Leaf should be walking down the hall, followed by Harshwhinny." I added.
And with scary accuracy here comes Sweet Leaf, followed by Harshwhinny, I look at Sunset and she at me. We stand there for about a minuet then I start to walk back to my stuff and sit down. I take a drink of the whisky in the cup that I have sitting near my pack.
"Why? Or should I say how did you know they would come down this hall." Sunset asks me
"We are creatures of habit and don't like change that much, the best we can do is adapt to the surroundings that we are thrown into. And as for you, shouldn't you get to class, you wouldn't want to be late." I say to her as I give a slight grin.
"What are you talking about, I don't go to class until about one fifteen." The confused girl says.
"Sweet Leaf and Harshwhinny walk down this hall at about one eleven to one thirteen, check your pocket watch." I tell her with a little bit of a smirk on my face.
Sunset looks at her watch and recoils a bit and then slowly walks away. Now I am laughing internally as I see her walk down the hall and off to class.
