Chapter 26:

Was it because you wanted justice or vengeance?

Principal Celestia pulled into the police station parking lot an hour after leaving Rainbows home. She had in her hand the last piece of evidence that would be needed to get a absolute conviction of Rainbows mother. A look of both anger and determination on her face showed as she pulled open the double steel blue doors of the police station entry way. Once she was inside the station she headed for the information desk. The officer behind the desk showed signs of one that had been on the force for far too long. His grey smoky hair blended with red and white and his skin showed the signs of someone that had seen far too much as a police officer. He was reading an afternoon newspaper when Celestia walked into the station. Principal Celestia looked around then said to him as she turned her gaze to him.

“Excuse me officer I was wondering if you know if my sister Luna moon has been brought in as of yet? Or if you would know what her bail has been set to that is if it has actually been set as of yet?”

The officer looked over his newspaper then set it down and began to type on his computer without a word to her. Once he found the information that was needed he simply got up and and began to  lead Celestia down a long hallway and into a waiting room and directed her to take a seat. Which she did without question. In front of her was a window, phone and plan black steel chair. The same was on the other side of the window. A few minutes latter Luna was brought in and directed to sit down on the opposite side of the window. Luna was wearing a full orange jumpsuit  when she saw her sister sitting on the other side of the glass window she took a seat and picked up the phone and placed it to her ear. Celestia looked at her sister and Luna stared coldly back at her as she too picked up her own phone and placed it to her ear as well. Just as they both were about to start talking to each other a recorded voice message was heard over both phones.

“All visitor, conversions will and shall be recorded. You will have ten minutes of talk time beginning now.”

Taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out Celestia said to her sister over the phone as she looked at Luna through the glass window.

“Luna I need to know why did you kill him?, We could have just as easily gotten him on everything that we had. All we needed was for him to confess that Rainbow’s mother was involved. That she was the one that was paying FBI agents to keep his DNA out of codex. So why sister? Why did you kill him?”

Luna half quirked a smile then said as she stared coldly into her sister's eyes.

“I did for Rainbow and for Sunset. I know it is not what we wanted and what we talked about Tia but, he would have simply gotten off. Or found some way to get out. I couldn’t let that happen.”

Celestia closed her eyes as she took in what her sister just said to her. Celestia then held up the file that she had brought with her so that Luna could see it as she said into the phone.

“I have here the last piece of evidence to this Luna, you won’t have to stay in here long. But, I need to know before I leave here to hand this over to the….right person. Did you do this because you wanted vengeance or because you simply wanted to have justice due to what happened to Sunset and to Rainbow.”

Luna looked down as she closed her eyes then said as she held the phone tightly in her hand.

“You asked if I wanted justice….. or vengeance….. for what happened to Sunset and to Rainbow, Tia, How can I actually answer that? I simply don’t know which I wanted Tia.”

Celestia with a confused look on her face replied to Luna as the two of them stared at each other.

“Why not sister? Why can you not answer that simple question? Look it is very simple either you wanted justice or you wanted vengeance. Which one did you want when you killed the man that had brought us all so much pain and grief?”

Luna looked down at the floor as she said to her sister while staring at the floor.

“Rainbow. Tia she is not alone with how she feels in this matter. I too know how she feels. I know all too damn, well how she feels. Beyond that Celestia, my sister I can not say anything further.”

Celestia’s slowly went wide as she came to understand what her sister was talking about. Celestia swallowed hard as she set the file down and said to her sister.

“So you were…..” Celestia began but, was cut off by her sister as Luna said to her.

“Yes Tia I was.”

Luna closed her eyes as she was about to hang up the phone she said to her sister sternly into the phone.

“You should go now Tia.”

Celestia watched as her sister hung up the phone then got up and nodded to the guard as he led her back to her cell. Luna stopped in the doorway and looked over her shoulder taking one last final look at her sister. As she watched Celestia get up and began to walk out of the room with the file in hand. Luna thought to herself.

“Chrysalis will make sure I get out of here in a few hours. All I have to do is wait. I love you sister but, you can not follow me on this path. CHS needs you. My life both as your redeemed sister and your vice principal is over.”

Getting back to her cell she turned to the guard and said to him.

“Do I have any right at all to ask a favor of you sir?”

The guard scratched his chin for a second then said to her sternly.

“It depends on what that favor is convict.”

Luna narrowed her eyes to him as she said to him.

“It is nothing illegal or anything sexual at all if that is what you are worried about sir?, All I want you to do is take a letter that I have written before my sister showed up here that is and have it delivered to her at Rainbow Dash’s home. Rainbow live’s on, Cloudsdale Lane; North at 1245 Cloudsdale Road. Across the street of the old paint and go shops. That is all I need of you to do  that and one other thing. Please be the one to hand this directly to my sister. Nothing more and nothing less.”

The guard sighed then nodded his head and Luna as she  turned around then went to her bed reached under the mattress and took out a triple folded piece of paper.  She then walked back over to him and handed him the letter as she said to him.

“I know you might have to read it and I fully agree with you sir on this matter. But, what is in that letter you may not fully understand nor even want to understand.”

The guard took the letter from her and said to her.

“Because I have a niece and a daughter whom I love very much I will this one single time not read this letter. But, don’t ask of me to do this again.”

Luna nodded then walked back over to her bed and sat down her bed and let out a soft sigh as a loud click was heard just outside of her jail cell barred window. The guard had already gone around the corner when Luna heard the click Luna looked towards the window and smiled to herself. Celestia left the room that she and Luna had both been in unaware as to what was about to happen. Celestia sighed to herself and headed into the captain's office when she got out the room that she and her sister had visited in. Celestia handed him the file as she  walked up to him and said to him.

“Here captain you will need this in order to get Rainbows mother for everything that she has done and for paying certain people in the FBI to keep her boyfriends DNA out of codex.”

The caption looked over the file then smiled to Celestia as he stood up from his desk he said to her.

“I am not sure how you came about this file. But, if what is in here is true then I want you to know that if this person's mother is the reason we couldn’t find the state hoper. Then she will pay for interfering in police business.”

“The state hoper?” Celestia said as she got up from her chair with a raised eyebrow.

“Yes, Ma’am that is what we at this station have called him. Since he has raped eighty women Now that we have what is left of him in our morgue we can start to content his DNA to the rapes of at least eighty different cases all throughout the last ten states.”

“I see, I need to know captain has my sister seen a judge yet to set her bail at any point?”

The police captain looked back down to the file then looked at Celestia as he said to her.

“No not as of yet, I am sure the judge will set it in the morning in the meantime we need to know where Rainbows mother is now.”

“As far as I know she is in Europe you’ll have to talk to my sister to find out if…... that man that she killed told her when or even if Rainbow’s mother will be coming back. My sister didn’t tell me anything about this so I really don’t know if she is or isn’t coming back to the states.” Celestia replied as she looked down at the floor of the police captain's office.

“Well with this and all the information that has already been given to us by Luna we don’t actually need to know where she is. I am sure the D.A. will want to bring her back as soon as possible.”  The captain replied as he led Celestia out of his office and to the front door of the police station.

Celestia sighed then headed out of the station. Celestia drove back to Rainbows home then headed inside once she parked her car outside in Rainbows driveway. When got inside the house she headed upstairs where she found light music coming from a radio in the kitchen. Both Twilight and Princess Celestia where listening to the radio and drinking some tea as they both sat at the kitchen table.  Principal Celestia looked at them then nodded as she turned around then headed to Rainbows bedroom. Once there she found both Fluttershy and Rainbow fast asleep in bed together. Carefully and quietly walking into the room she reached out and gently pulled the covers over the two of them. Making sure they were both fully covered up Celestia then turned around and headed into the hallway then down the hallway and into the kitchen. Celestia pulled out one of the chairs of the kitchen table and sat down next to Twilight and across from her counterpart at the kitchen table. As she too began to listen to the soft music coming from the radio she said to both of them.

“I think you both should know that I went to the police station, bail money has not yet been set for my sister and I am not sure if it will be set.”

Twilight and Princess Celestia both looked down at the table as they all heard a loud boom that sounded more like thunder outside. All three of them got up from the table just as a radio announcer’s voice came over the radio saying.

“We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you this special announcement. An explosion was seen moments ago at the police station. It has not yet been confirmed if anyone was hurt or even killed in the explosion. What we do know is  this and that is one prisoner has escaped. Yet it is not clear as to whom it was or even how this was possible. All that is really known for sure is that the police are trying to get this situation under control.”

Principal Celestia lowered her head as she closed her eyes. Twilight as well as Princess Celestia both looked at her as they heard her say to herself while they both looked at her.

“Luna oh, god I hope she didn’t plan this.”

Principal Celestia opened her eyes and headed for the front door of Rainbows home. Just as she got to the door she heard a soft knock. Celestia opened the door and saw the same guard that had led her sister back to her cell standing in Rainbows doorway holding out to her a three piece folded up paper. Celestia looked at him then down at his hand as he held out Luna’s letter to her. Celestia took the paper thanked the man then promptly closed the door. As Rainbow and Fluttershy both came out of Rainbows room each rubbing the sleep out of their eyes. Rainbow in her boxer shorts and Fluttershy in a pair of P.J’s that Rainbow had given her several weeks prior to all that had happened to them. Fluttershy said as she held onto Rainbow’s hand in her own while looking down at Principal Celestia.

“What is going on? We heard a what sounded like thunder a few moments ago.”

Principal Celestia looked at them while Twilight and Princess Celestia both looked at each other. As Principal Celestia looked away she then tucked the letter into her pants pocket as she said to Fluttershy and Rainbow.

“Uh, it was nothing girls let me get you two back to bed then I need to leave I will take Princess Celestia home first before I head back to my own home.”

Principal Celestia headed back up the stairs and led the girls back to Rainbows room. Rainbow was too tired to argue with her Principal and lightly tugged on her girl friend’s hand as she started to head towards her bedroom. Fluttershy sensing that her girlfriend was far too exhausted by the day's current events followed without any offered protest. When Rainbow and Fluttershy were safely back in bed and got tucked in by their Principal. Principal Celestia nodded to them both as they both yawned then gently fell back asleep she turned around and headed out of Rainbows bedroom then into the hallway and back down towards the front steps. Principal Celestia found both Twilight and Princess Celestia waiting for her down stairs. She nodded to them both then closed her eyes and slowly reopened them as she headed down stairs as well. Saying to her counterpart as she reopened her eyes while trying hard not to sound like a prude or being rude to her counterpart.

“Alright let’s get you home your majesty I am sure you will want to rest in your own sleeping uh, bed once you are back in your own world.”
