ESF: Galaxy & Nightmare

Sunset was with Twilight now, along with Stellar Bubbles and Thunderbolt Sentinel, racing to Canterlot to request an audience with Princess Celestia and Luna. Thunderbolt was confused. "Remind me why we're doing this again? " He asked. Bubbles sighed.

"We need to convince Celestia of Galaxy's innocence, idjit!" His marefriend told him. Thunderbolt chuckled.

"Oh, heh. Yeah. Right. Forgot." He said, then realized what Bubbles had called him. "Hey!" He exclaimed. Bubbles giggled. "I see the palace!" He told Sunset and Twilight. Shining Armor saw them coming. Twilight stopped with the other three ponies.

"Hey! Halt!" A guard shouted. Shining Armor looked at him, and he stood down.

"Came to see Princess Celestia to convince her of Galaxy's innocence and Nightmare's plan?" He asked. Twilight and Sunset nodded. "Alright. Follow me, I'll take you to her." Inside, Celestia was going through her mail. She was clearly bored.

"Cable bill." She tossed it aside. "Application for retirement homes." She tossed that aside too. Just as she was about to read another piece of mail, Sunset and Twilight came in the throne room. "Twilight. Sunset. I wasn't expecting you." She said, surprised. Sunset spoke.

"Forgive me, princess, but it's about our friend Galaxy. He's innocent, believe me. He wasn't the one who committed Soul Melody's murder, Nightmare did." She told her. Celestia's face turned grim.

"Nightmare. I haven't heard that name in a long time. And as for your friend Melody, she's alive." She smiled. Sunset and Twilight gasped. "The knife missed her heart, so she'll live. Mostly due to the reason that Galaxy had some control over it and made Nightmare miss, then he took off in a hurry." She explained. "Melody will be healed soon, then she'll be able to come home." Celestia promised. "Now, what is it Nightmare wants?" She asked. Luna was curious too. Sunset cleared her throat.

"About that." She started.

"..........What?!!!!" Luna shouted in surprise about an hour later. Sunset nodded. "No. No no no. He can't resurrect Nightmare Moon, there's no possible way to...." Luna trailed off, and gasped, putting a hoof to her neck. "Nightmare Moon's amulet. That's what he's after. It's a Horcrux, meaning that should your body be destroyed, you put part of your soul into an item of your choice, it can be anything, a book, an amulet, even a pony." Luna explained. "But there's only one way to rip your soul into pieces. Murder. I only killed once when I was Nightmare Moon, and part of her soul went into her amulet." She said.

"Is there anyway to destroy it?" Twilight asked. Luna shook her head.

"Sadly, no. Nightmare is going to get the amulet, then, he'll come for me. He needs a drop of my blood to complete the resurrection spell, that, and a unicorn to conjure the spell." She explained. "However, the unicorn needs to be very close to Galaxy." She added. Sunset's and Twilight's eyes widened, both of them looking at each other.

"Mocha!" They shouted in unison as they raced back to Ponyville. Luna looked at her sister.

"If Nightmare is to come, then we must prepare ourselves for battle, sister, even though he may be in Galaxy's body, he will still be powerful." Luna warned. Celestia nodded grimly.

"Shining Armor, prepare all of your guards if Nightmare is to come." She ordered. Shining Armor nodded. Meanwhile, Bubbles, Thunderbolt, Sunset, and Twilight were racing back to Ponyville.

"Hold on, what?!" Bubbles exclaimed. Sunset nodded. "So that's Nightmare's plan. Get the amulet, get a drop of Luna's blood, and use Mocha to complete the resurrection!" She said. "Great. How's he supposed to get the spell needed? Or is it in his mind already?" She asked, Twilight shook her head.

"No. He'll need the Dark Prognosticus to conjure the spell." She explained. Thunderbolt was confused.

"The Dark Whoji-Whaticus?" He asked. Twilight groaned.

"Dark Prognosticus. A forbidden spell book used by King Sombra himself." She explained.

"If it's forbidden, why the fuck would Nightmare want it?" Bubbles asked.

"Because if used correctly, it can be used not only for resurrection spells, but it can also be used for killing souls." Twilight said. "If Nightmare were to have it in his possession, he could kill Galaxy long before we could even stop him." She explained. Twilight was right. I didn't know it at the time, but that was exactly what Nightmare was planning. The four of them made it back to Mocha's cafe when Quillton, Crystal, Mocha, Valerium, Joy, Tacitus, Breeze, Paradise, and to their surprise, Starlight were all standing. "Starlight?" Twilight asked, confused. Starlight waved.

"I came to help Galaxy. He's helped me out, so now it's my turn to help him out." She explained. Quillton walked forward.

"That's all well and good, dearie, but I'm more inclined as to ask what exactly does Nightmare want?" He asked. Twilight told everypony what Nightmare's plan was. About an hour later, Mocha was being comforted by Valerium. "So that's what Nightmare is after. Quillton said. "Getting Nightmare Moon's amulet, drop of Luna's blood, Dark Prognosticus to conjure the resurrection spell and maybe kill Galaxy, and Mocha to actually say the spell. Smart move on his play. Are there any spells you know that can separate Nightmare from Galaxy?" He asked Twilight. She nodded.

"One. I know one. In order for it to work though, I need Crystal's help." She explained. Crystal walked up.

"What do I need to do?" She asked.

"You need to get Nightmare to stand still long enough for me to get him to stare into a mirror where theoretically Galaxy will be in his reflection. Then, conjuring the spell at the both of them, it should separate Galaxy and Nightmare." Twilight told her. Quillton raised an eyebrow.

"You seem highly doubtful, dearie." He theorized. Twilight nodded.

"I don't really know if it will actually work because I've never done the spell before." She admitted. Mocha walked up.

"If it does, Nightmare is mine." Mocha said, her sadness turning into hatred. "That little bastard is going to pay for killing Mel, and I don't care how I kill him, as long as I actually kill him." She told everypony. Valerium nodded.

"What if the spell doesn't work?" Tacitus asked. Joy agreed.

"I'm concerned for Galaxy as much as everypony else here, but Tacitus has a point. Say the spell doesn't work, what then?" She asked. "I mean, it's not like we can lure Nightmare into a false sense of security and then somehow free Galaxy." She said. Everypony looked at her with wide stares. "What? What'd I say?" She asked. Quillton laughed.

"Joy, you are a genius, dearie!" He exclaimed as he hugged her. Joy hesitated for a moment then hugged him back. "OK, gang, here's the plan....." Quillton started, everypony listening and and smirking.
