The Sun was shining brightly today, a nice summer breeze streaming my mane.
The laughter of fillies and colts playing all around making my heart go erratic. A musical chime echoing in the distance.
The bustling town of Ponyville sure is ecstatic right now.
I sat there with my drink, specially made by Berry Punch, laying down comfortably on a smooth oak deck chair.
Beautiful golden trees surrounded my establishment. The pristine dark oak manor, with its framework an outline of obsidian enhancing its already immaculate shine, built by the finest constructors in all the land stood tall above even the crystal castle for the newly crowned Twilight Sparkle.
But there was something missing.
I waited before I searched into the deepest depths of my mind to figure out just what was missing.
Not finding anything out of the ordinary, I checked my surroundings for any sight of the difference.
...
Nothing.
Nothing different was going on here.
I swear that there was something different because I seemed to have a knack of knowing when something is gonna happen. Sort of like that sense that the energetic pony down the street seems to have. What does she call it? Pink sense? Something like that. I believe so anyway.
Looking around, I saw my sign still standing proudly outside my home.
Nightly abode of Nyx Moon
Seer of the Darkness
Heir to the Lunar throne
I loved how they put 'Heir to the Lunar throne' on the end, even though I told them not to.
The dedication that these ponies had was extraordinary.
Their faith to a pony such as me is quite amazing to say the least.
Dressed in my royal regalia, I strode out to the local market to see if they had any more celery.
Upon my trip, I stumbled on the one pony I would not have guessed would have come forth.
"Good afternoon Pinkamena Diane Pie." I said, straightening my posture, smiling unceremoniously.
"Hey there, Nyxie! Did you feel it too, Huh, huh, huh? That weird feeling?" She practically yelled into my face, jumping up and down in her usual excitement.
"Yes I did, my little pony. What made you guess that I knew?" The last part I said in a whisper.
"Because I felt a breeze on just my eyebrow! See, see, see?" She waved her eyebrow at me.
Taken aback by this, I just responded with an "O-ok..."
"So anyway, I found what the weirdness was!" She beamed, smiling, almost hypnotising me. Almost.
"It was just a few hours ago! A pony wasn't in her house! Also known as Melodyfinn, if my suspicions were correct..." She hoofed me a picture of this pony and I realised that this was one of my closest friends, excluding the princesses.
"Where is she?" I hurriedly asked.
"Oh! I thought you'd never ask! She's over at the Everfree Forest." Pinkie said, simply pointing east.
"Thanks!" I didn't pay attention to what she was going to say next as I was already on my way to the forest.
I ran with all my might, dodging trees and thorns as I swiftly followed hoofprints imbedded in the mossy grass.
I didn't pay any attention to any detail as my mind went circling on what might have happened.
'Oh sweet Celestia! She could be eaten by a Bugbear! Or be turned to stone by a Cockatrice!
Or has been eaten by a Manticore!' I panicked and whist in this state, I slammed headfirst into a tree.
The pain overwhelmed all my other senses so my sight and hearing were suddenly impaired and I started to feel numb. Faint whispers were heard from the corner of my mind. The insanity of the past.
My past was clouded of judgement and mercy. I never shed a tear of sorrow.
My past came rushing back to me over and over again. My mind slowly becoming a soulless husk as my memories were barely receding.
And I lost consciousness.
***
I woke up in darkness. I liked darkness. It was where all the thoughts go. Where the mind wanders the Oblivion Plains for eternity.
Where I feel safe.
I was deterred from my thoughts as I felt something cold and sharp nudge me awake.
"Just a few more minutes m-mom..." I muttered.
The nudging did not stop.
Realising that I had to get up to stop my foreleg from potentially getting numb, I slowly opened my eyes. My vision was slightly blurry as I struggled to make sense of my surroundings.
Nearly a minute past before my eyesight was back to normal.
The first thing I saw was a very worried blue pony staring at me.
I didn't bother with her for the moment as I focused to the sight around me.
I recognised a bunch of health equipment such as a thermometer and an IV line.
The walls were plastered in bright yellow, almost fluorescent.
There was a single bed that I was resting on, white covers and white pillows to match.
On my right was a bedside table with a flower pot and a little glass of water gently resting on it.
And only then did I realise that I was in a hospital wing.
My reaction wasn't all that pleasant.
"WHY AM I IN A HOSPITAL?!? WHAT HAVE I DONE?!? WHO ARE YOU?!?" I screamed, pointedly looking at the blue mare.
"You were knocked out. I found you in the Everfree forest barely conscious. Plus, you muttered something along the lines of:
'You foolish foal... You think you can defeat me... But you don't have the sixth element...' and the last one... 'Noooooo!!!'." The mare raised her hooves and pretended to faint as if to emphasize the point.
"What? I never said any of those things..." I muttered, calmer now, but obviously not happy.
Looking around, I tried to find an escape route.
All there was were windows barred from the outside, a vent that was too high up, but too low down to fly to, and a sturdy looking door that was just behind this crazy blue mare.
"If you're worrying about how long you will be here, don't worry! You're getting released as soon as you sign this paper stating that you will be under Melodyfinn's care for a few weeks." She handed me the paper, and I read it, smallprint and everything. All it said was that I stay at this Melodyfinn's house and she must take care of me. I should obey the rules and don't walk or carry too much, due to the stress it may induce.
I wanted to decide against it, but I needed to get out of here.
I looked more carefully at the small print before signing it.
Handing it back, I asked, "Who are you? You still didn't answer my question."
All she did was giggle and point to the name on the piece of paper.
"That's me!" She said, smiling happily.
"I presume that you're Meldyfinn then." I determined.
"Yup! You're my buddy for a few days!"
I sighed. This was gonna be a long week.
***
"Hurry up! You're gonna be late!"
"I'm going as fast as my hooves can take me!"
"Which isn't that fast!"
"Cut me some slack!" *Huff* "I'm the one carrying the equipment!"
Two little fillies, that were shaded colours of orange and slightly darker pale yellow, scuttled around, unknown objects in hoof.
It seemed like they were heading towards a circular building structured of white powdered bricks decorated with woven silk in all sorts of different colours.
It seemed like they were in a hurry.
I decided to pay more attention to the stunning building that I was headed towards.
It was a generic Ponyville home, but it wasn't at the same time. Its walls were slightly painted blue, contrasting well with the sky that the pegasi gratefully made.
The door was made of well polished silver-birch wood that was somewhat tinged grey.
The tidiness of the front porch was at the point that Twilight herself would have asked how she kept it so clean.
Flowers of all types were surrounding the entrance, including Asters, Carnations, Hydrangeas and peonies, lined in perfect order.
Walking inside the building, I noticed some different changes that weren't there before.
The rooms all had a revamp. On the floor, there were luxurious carpets made of the finest material known in Equestria.
Tables and chairs were also changed, as they had a regal tone in their length. Soft and smooth cushions gently settled on top of them.
Candles were situated in an orderly fashion all around the house.
The thing that surprised me the most was... Basically all of it.
Melodyfinn was known for her subtleness and the natural look of things. Sort of like an environmentalist. She wouldn't like the royal look of things. At least, that's what I thought.
I turned around to see a very sinister smile emanating from her face.
"Do you like it? Princess Celestia recommended it!" Melodyfinn announced. "She even paid for it fully! Isn't this great?!?"
"W-Who is Princess Celestia?" I promptly stammered. "I feel kinda ill..." That, of which, was true.
All of this was new to me. Who is this pony? Who is Princess Celestia? How did I know what she liked? Who am I?
"Ok! The guest bedroom is down there to the right. I sleep across the hall from you. Have a good night!" Melodyfinn said, not even fazed by the fact I was feeling ill.
"I have one more question for you before I hit the hay. Who am I?" I questioned the last part being barely a whisper.
The mare just stared at me, her jaw so wide, she could have swallowed a pony.
Eyeing me more carefully this time, she decided to say, "Did you lose your memory?" her right eyebrow slightly higher than the other.
I was taken aback from that. Did I really lose my memory? Is this mare my friend? How did I lose my memory? What was my life before today? Does she know the answer? Who is Princess Celestia? Is she like the Queen of this place?
"Uhh... Maybe?" My ears shrunk back and my cheeks turned a slight tinge of pink, embarrassed.
"The pony identified as Melodyfinn appeared to facehoof as I admitted to having amnesia.
"What am I going to do now?" She sighed in discontent.
