James Thompson moved to Equestria one year ago and went to Ponyville after his transfer completed looking for a new job and a new life. But being riddled with social anxiety and knowing hardly anyone there, James begins to retreat within himself and his life takes a turn for the worse. One year after his transfer, James finally goes to a therapist and is diagnosed with atypical depression.

But soon after, he meets a pony. A pony who's been going through a similar situation to him. Through meetings at a coffee shop, James and Caramel slowly connect and potentially come to see each other as friends, as well as something the other desperately needs.
