Midnight's Memoirs

Happy birthday! To who? Me of course, who else would I be writing about in my own journal? Why am I writing in this journal? Because it’s my birthday present from mom! She said I can write down whatever I want, but I’m not a sissy mare. I’m not gonna write down feelings or crushes or anything like that. Maybe I’ll write down some of my favorite spells or desserts. Oh! How about I write down my favorite princess? Wait, does that qualify as a crush? How old is Princess Luna anyway? Whatever, it’s my birthday. How about I write down what I wanna be when I get older? Yeah! I’ll do that! My name is Midnight Allister Star and I’m gonna be the greatest wizard Equestria has ever seen.

          Well next to Starswirl The Bearded, he was amazing! Mom has been reading me all kinds of books and there are so many spells I can already do only at the age of 6! Aren’t I great? Mom says, when I get older, and the school gets done, I’ll be able to learn even more! I can’t wait, I’ll make so many friends and then it won’t just be me playing by myself anymore. What I mean by that is, mom never let’s me play with any of the other ponies who stay in a nearby town. She just always tells me that “now isn’t the time” or something.

          Maybe it’s because she’d prefer me to study than make friends, but I mean seriously. I can’t even leave the area around our home or she’ll use a teleportation spell to bring me back. It’s a bit of a drag, but I know she’s just doing it for my own protection. I’d love to keep writing, but I still got more presents to open and cake to eat! Guess I’ll just finish with my signature or something.

Today was my best birthday ever! Funny, I don’t really remember any of my other birthday parties. Probably because they weren’t as awesome as the one I had today. Me and mom walked down to beach and had a picnic, and then mom showed me this one spell that turned some magical bolts into fireworks! It was SO awesome!

          Aside from this journal, mom got me 3 new spell books, 2 of which are by Starswirl The Bearded! I’m not too sure where she got them but I didn’t bother to ask. She probably asked Princess Celestia for them, the Canterlot library has tons of books. Oh, did I forget to mention that my mom was once a student of Princess Celestia herself? Mom says that when I get older, Princess Celestia might be willing to teach me too!

          Mom said that tomorrow, she’ll help me learn a few new spells from the books she got me. Now I’m so excited for tomorrow I’m not sure if I’ll be able to sleep tonight!
