Midnight's Memoirs

          January 13th

          Sunday 8:47 AM

Mom left early this morning to help oversee the development of the school, so that means my lessons are on hold until she gets back. But it’s okay though, the school is almost done and that means I’m one step closer to making friends! Maybe I’ll practice a few of the spells in my book by myself. Mom has a few advanced spell books in her room, she won’t mind if a take a peek. I think I’m ready for advanced studies anyway.

Mom came home for lunch a few moments ago, but she left as quick as she came. When she got home, she got pretty upset because of the book I was reading. I thought it was a book of magical advanced studies, but it turns out it was actually an arcane book that talked about “dark magic” or something like that. Mom said she doesn’t want me reading about it because dark magic is very, very bad, and only the evilest of ponies use it. Then she told me about some old king who utilized dark magic, but I wasn’t listening very well. I was too busy with my nose buried in my Starswirl The Bearded books, did you know he created a spell for time travel? That’s so cool! I hope I grow up to be an amazing wizard like him. No. Scratch that. I’m going to be even better!

Moms not coming home tonight, she said she’ll be staying at the school because she’s gotta read through tons of paperwork for the academy. This is the first time I’ve been alone, but it’s not all that bad. I usually cook for the both of us, so dinner wasn’t a problem. I think the thing that will bother me the most will be me having to tuck myself in tonight.
