Equestria: The Crystal War

“When the Crystal Empire returned, it brought King Sombra with it. It didn't take long for him to force every one of his subjects to fight for him against Equestria. And even with Princess Celestia leading the charge, it still takes every last pony in Equestria doing their part, working day and night to keep up the fight.” –Applejack, Crystal War Timeline

King Sombra's return brought ruin onto Equestria. The war spread like wildfire, forcing ponies from their homes. The ponies who were not called into duty still had a part to play, making clothes, saving rations, building military equipment, and doing anything else they could to help against the fight with King Sombra and the Crystal Empire. The ponies called into service had to say goodbye to their families, some of them for the last time. The war was drastic, taking many lives from both sides. Some ponies were trained as foals to fight for Equestria. Princess Celestia tried to keep hope alive, but it was failing. Sombra's reign had grown over half of Equestria, taking with it innocent pony lives and military morale. This devastating war seemed to have no end in sight, and it seemed that Sombra might win.

There is another timeline where Sombra never came to power. Instead, Starnet and the machines rose up, destroying most of Equestria. Starnet had believed that the Equine race would be its downfall, so to combat the ponies, Starnet built search and destroy machines, called Terminators. These Terminators hunted down and killed most of the remaining ponies in Equestria. The small number of survivors banded together to form a resistance against the machines. The Resistance fought bravely, eventually crippling a major factory that manufactured cyborg T-800 Terminators. The leader of the Resistance, Velvet Remedy, has led many major victories since with the help of her father and closest friends. Now, the Resistance moves to strike Starnet’s central core, and bring down Starnet’s control of Equestria.
