Love.

One of the most complicated things of ponykind.

It was a beautiful, terrible thing.

It tore down mountains, and it built up cities.

Ponies used it as a facade, to hide themselves behind a mask. They hid from the rest of the world, saying that they were loved, yet, not believing it in their own heart.

Davian was one of those ponies.

"Wake up Davian!" Someone shouted.

I blearily looked up from my pillow and stared at the wall.

"What Dad?" I yelled back, my hoarse throat aching.

"Get up, you're going to be late for school!" He said.

I could hear his heavy hooves coming up the stairs.

My eyes widened, and I tumbled out of bed, then ran to the bathroom. My caramel-colored hooves fumbled around for the comb. As I brushed through my curly,  I stared at the mirror. The young stallion in it looked back at me with his vivid green eyes.

Myeh. I thought.

When I finished washing up, I trotted downstairs to the smell of hay bacon.

"Wow d-d-Dad, th-that smells nice!" I stuttered out.

"Sure does, boy. Sit down and eat up. You got a long day." He replied, from inside the kitchen.

I waited impatiently, then he came out with a plate on his back. The glory of hay bacon and eggs shone down upon me from the heavens of the Kitchen-Gods.

Dad chuckled as he looked at me, his dark red coat rippling.

"W-what?" I asked when I was done.

"Nothing Davian," he shook his head, still laughing, "Just get out of here."

I ran upstairs, grabbed my saddlebag, and headed out the door.

But before the door closed behind me, my dad gave me a hearty slap on my rump.

I meeped and got out of there, running down the busy sidewalk.
