Chapters Love’s Étude For Heartstrings; Opus One
CHAPTER ONE: School Chums
It was only a two hour ride but still it was going to be a long ride back from Canterlot. Twilight could’ve flown herself, but she was still used to the life of land-based ponies. Twilight usually went on these trips with at least one of her friends and/or her assistant Spike.
However, Spike was on an extended stay with her brother and Cadence in the Crystal Empire; Pinkie getting ready for a well-paying cute-ceañera; Angel, Fluttershy’s pet bunny was sick and Rainbow Dash was in Cloudsdale for an important weather meeting.
As for Rarity and Applejack, it wasn’t hard to figure out.knew what was going on between the two mares, and the ‘something important’ to take care of was each other. But Twilight figured if they wanted to tell ponies they were a couple, then it was their business and she’d remain silent. Plus she knew if in their place, she’d want to take time to be alone with somepony for whom she cared.
‘Like that will ever happen,’ thought Twilight quite often.
Yes, they carried on as if they were at each other’s throats most of the time. However, Twilight knew better. It was like the bard, William Ponyspear wrote:
"The mare doth protest too much, methinks! [1] "
Twilight didn’t even have family to visit on this trip; Twilight’s parents were on a second honeymoon (their fifth) in Neighagara Falls.
So being by herself for an entire weekend, plus being alone on the trip to and from Canterlot did make for a long and lonely time. It was perhaps the only negative effect of now having close friends. Before coming to Ponyville, Twilight would’ve relished the solitude.
Twilight had met with Princesses Celestia and Luna for a status meeting. All was well and Celestia was proud of her student. However, for some reason, they were concerned that despite her mastering having friends, there was another kind of friendship she wasn’t exploring. They wouldn’t go any further and explained it was something important for her to figure out herself.
The train had just started and Twilight was looking out the window at the waning of the late afternoon when a voice brought her focus back to the here and now.
“Twilight Sparkle!”
Twilight turned to see a very familiar mint green Unicorn with Lyre cutie mark. A pony she’d see around Ponyville all the time, a pony who also had attended the Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns and was in many of Twilight’s classes.
She could’ve been considered a friend back then, but not at all like the friends she has now.
However, thinking back, perhaps Lyra, Minuette, Twinkleshine, Lemon Hearts and Moon Dancer tried to be the kind of friends her friends were now. Well maybe not Moon Dancer, she had her muzzle stuck in books as much as herself.
Also, Lyra was a pony Twilight found to be quite pleasant to look at, in fact, Twilight thought that her rump was ‘hot’. Which was the reason Twilight had went to many sporting events Lyra was attending or participating in, despite the fact Twilight cared little for sports. Not that she didn’t understand them; she’d memorized almost every rulebook.
“Or do you prefer, Princess Twilight ?” said Lyra with a giggle.
“Hello Lyra,” said Twilight with a smile. “And I’ll always be Twilight to my friends.”
“Mind if I have a seat?” asked Lyra, she was glad that the pony she’d hung out with shared classes with in school, still considered her a friend.
“Please do,” said Twilight, “I’m glad to have the company.”
Lyra smiled and sat on the bench facing Twilight; she let out a heavy sigh as she did.
“I’m so glad to get off these hooves.” Said Lyra, “I don’t think I’ve sat down once since I got up this morning.”
“Goodness,” said Twilight, “didn’t you even stop to eat?”
“I knew there was something I forgot to do,” said Lyra with an odd look on her face.
Twilight realized Lyra wasn’t joking, she smiled and chuckled.
“I thought I was the only pony who’d get so into what I was doing I’d forget to eat,” said Twilight.
“I do it all the time,” said Lyra, “I’ll be studying or speaking at a symposium or working at a dig and I’ll completely forget to stop and eat. Sis is always on me about it, she says I’m going to make myself sick one day.”
“Sis?” asked Twilight.
“Yes,” said Lyra, “Sweetie Drops, she runs and owns the Sweet Shop.”
“Sweetie Drops?” said Twilight. “Oh! Bonbon, but I thought you and she were, were...
You know!”
“That’d really be creepy,” said Lyra starting to laugh hard, she wiped a tear from her eye.
Twilight was not sure if she should take the laughing personally.
“I don’t know why it’s so hard to believe she’s my sister. I guess ponies always make that mistake because she’s an Earth Pony and I’m a Unicorn, we live together and hang out a lot.
Plus we’re very close, as far as sisters go. Our parents died when I was a foal. She basically raised me and so there’s an almost mother-daughter relationship.
But I wish I had a bit for everypony who thought she and I were either marefriends or lovers. I’d have enough to get something to eat at the overpriced dining car.”
Twilight chuckled at her mistake, but something inside her was happy at the information.
Twilight stood up.
“Come on Lyra,” said Twilight, her mood greatly improving, “I’ll spring for some daisy sandwiches and tea.”
“I didn’t say that for somepony to feed me, I’m not a charity case,” said Lyra with an honest look of concern on her lovely face.
“Nothing like that,” said Twilight, “I didn’t realize you’re such a studious pony. It’d be nice to hear what you do and what you’ve done since school. I don’t get a lot of chances to have those kinds of conversations.”
“Okay, but you’ll have to promise to let me get you dessert at the sweet shop,” said Lyra holding out a hoof.
“Deal,” said Twilight giving a hoof bump.
Lyra and Twilight made their way to the dining car, they ordered sandwiches and tea and were served quickly.
For a while, the two talked about when they were in school. Lyra had been captain of the girl’s field hockey team, and she was taken aback because Twilight had actually attended matches. Twilight was able to recall some of the goals Lyra had made. Even the game winning one with which brought the C.S.G.U. the championship the last year they were there in undergraduate studies.
“I know I was always a big ‘stick-in-the-mud’ at school.” Said Twilight blushing, “and I missed out on so much; my time in Ponyville has taught me that. I know we were in many classes together, and I know I did interact with you, Minuette, Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine and Moon Dancer. I guess we were ‘friends’ but not in the way I’ve learned to be friends, I never did get to know anypony too well. Sorry if I was ever rude.”
Lyra reached a hoof out and rested it on Twilight’s.
“It’s okay, most ponies realized you had a great deal of pressure on you being the princess’ protégé. And it was mostly why you were the way you were.” said Lyra with a snicker. “But it did make you a bit of a ‘stick-in-the-mud’.
But from being around you in Ponyville, I think it would’ve been fun to have interacted with you more.”
The two ponies chuckled and Lyra drew her hoof away. It didn’t bother Twilight, the physical contact that is. Before coming to Ponyville, she probably would have pulled her hoof away instantly. However, with being around ponies like Pinkie Pie, who were very ‘touchy-feely’, it didn’t affect her. Twilight actually found it pleasant to have a pony who wanted to be close. Twilight was slightly disappointed when Lyra had withdrawn her hoof, Twilight had been getting a thrill at Lyra’s touch.
“So what is that you studied and what do you do now,” asked Twilight.
“Oh don’t get me started,” said Lyra with a smile, “My minor was in music. I love the lyre especially.
And even though the lyre is my special talent, there was another subject that took my interests. I majored in Paleohippology while in school. You know, the study of ancient equinekind, drawing and building upon knowledge from social and biological sciences, as well as the equinities and the natural sciences to place ancient species.”
“I never realized that you’re a scientist!” said Twilight excitedly, “That’s so cool! Is that what you do now?’
“Mostly,” said Lyra, “I’m just coming back from a dig in the Foal Mountains, east of Canterlot.”
“Wow,” said Twilight, “that must’ve been fun.”
“It was,” said Lyra, “if you don’t mind long hours, sleeping in the cold and eating what’s growing on the ground around you, almost like the ancient equines I’m studying. But, I enjoy the work.
I do get to indulge my other great passion when I’m in the field.”
“What passion?” asked Twilight.
Lyra suddenly got a strange look on her face.
“I... I don’t want to run you off Twilight,” said Lyra, “I’m sure you’ll look at me like most of the academic community. I don’t want to lose a friend as soon as I’ve renewed one.”
“Nonsense!” said Twilight, “if a scientific mind is interested in it, then I can’t see what the problem is.”
“Okay...
I’m interested in Cryptozoology...”
Lyra paused, Twilight didn’t react so she continued.
“Especially, Anthropology...”
Another pause;
“It’s the study of ...”
“A mythical, highly evolved hominid animal called humans, related to chimps and gorillas,” said Twilight, “thought to have been at least as intelligent as modern-day equines. It’s said they may have had a higher technological society than we, possibly because they didn’t possess magic.
It’s conjectured they were the cause of the cataclysm countless millennia ago. It’s also said if they existed, then the historical cataclysm led to their extinction.”
Lyra sat stunned; she didn’t realize Twilight would know of such an obscure science and animal.
“I didn’t know you’d take such study seriously,” said Lyra.
“I didn’t say I did,” said Twilight.
Lyra looked a little hurt. It was Twilight’s turn to reach a hoof out to Lyra.
“I didn’t say I didn’t either,” said Twilight with a smile. “I’d believe with firm evidence, which currently is anecdotal or circumstantial at best.”
Lyra looked into those beautiful purple eyes of Twilight. Should she drop the bomb? Did she want to scare off a pony she’d secretly liked for a long time, a pony who actually had a lot more in common with her than her other friends, Moon Dancer, Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine, or Minuette? A cute pony she’d watched in class and had and would still, check out her flanks at every opportunity.
She decided to chance it.
“Well, you’re right about all of that except one thing,” said Lyra.
“And that is?”
“They aren’t extinct,” said Lyra with a sly smile.
It was now Twilight’s turn to be stunned. Lyra just sat there smiling. Twilight didn’t react positively or negatively. And thrillingly, she was still holding Lyra’s hoof.
“I would certainly need firm evidence to believe that,” said Twilight. “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.”
“Said like a true academic,” said Lyra with a warm smile.
Twilight returned the smile and the two looked deep into the other’s eyes.
“Next stop, Ponyville. Ponyville next stop!”
The two ponies just looked at each other surprised.
“Have we really talked that long?” asked Lyra.
“Oh dear,” said Twilight, “I haven’t had a conversation like this in years. We must continue sometime.”
“You aren’t just saying that as a polite kiss off and we’re never going to talk again, are you?”
“I’m a pony of my word,” said Twilight proudly, “just ask any of my other friends. I’d most certainly love to talk about this subject some more.”
The train slowed to a stop and the two renewed friends got off, collected their bags, and started to go separate ways.
“I thought you wanted the dessert I promised,” said Lyra.
Twilight was about to make an excuse, but decided better. With one flash of magic, her bags disappeared.
“You need to teach me that,” said Lyra with a chuckle, as she was levitating her bags.
“I think I can arrange that,” replied Twilight with a smile.
The two walked to the Sweet Shop talking about more mundane topics. However, when they got to the Sweet Shop, there was an unexpected surprise.
“The sign says it’s closed for the week,” said Twilight.
“Oh pony-feathers!” said Lyra, “I forgot this was the week Bon was going to a confectioners convention in Baltamare. She’ll be back in the morning on the early train.”
“Well then, I’ll have to get a rain check,” said Twilight.
The two ponies hugged and even shared a girly kiss on the cheek. Twilight flew off toward Friendship Castle, but before she got halfway there, the rain started pouring hard. So Twilight teleported the rest of the way into the castle, there she lit the fires and turned on the evening lights.
When she was sure all was secure, Twilight went upstairs. After a quick trip to the bathroom, she climbed into bed and started to read a ‘purely entertaining’ book.
She didn’t like to let Spike know she had a stash of ‘Trashy Love Novels ’, mostly mare with mare.
She was starting to doze off but was suddenly startled awake with a frantic ringing of the front door bell.
Twilight levitated the book to her nightstand and teleported downstairs. She appeared in front of the door and opened it, there stood Lyra, soaking wet. She was still levitating her bags. The rain was pouring down.
“Get in here Lyra!”
“Thanks Twilight,” said Lyra. “I guess I didn’t remember to pack my keys to the shop. You were closer than any of my other friends; I hope you don’t mind me coming here.”
“I’m glad you did,” said Twilight with a smile.
Twilight summoned some towels and helped Lyra to dry off.
“Let me show you to the bathroom, you can take a hot shower to warm yourself, and then I’ve a guest bed in my room, you’re welcome to stay.
There are other bedrooms if the thought of that is uncomfortable, but they aren’t that well-furnished. My room would be warmer, if it wouldn’t bother you.”
Twilight found that she was hoping it wouldn’t.
“I’ve already been a bother to you, I don’t want to be a further disturbance,” said Lyra. “A nice comfy sofa would be fine after sleeping on the ground for the last two months.”
“Nonsense,” said Twilight chuckling, “come with me.”
Lyra took the shower offered and was soon dry.
As she was getting ready for bed, she quickly looked at the decor of Twilight’s room. It was what she’d expected, despite being in a castle, Twilight’s room was simple, utilitarian and tidy.
There were diplomas on the wall, including the largest one declaring Twilight’s Doctor of Magic Arts. Lyra remembered this because Twilight got her doctorate at the same commencement Lyra received her Ph.D. in Paleohippology.
Lyra smiled, not a lot of ponies thought of herself as a very academic pony but she truly was. Now here was a pony who could appreciate that part of her. A part she’d worked hard to get. Yet outside of her circle of Paleohippologist whom she worked with, no other pony appreciated it.
However, Twilight was a kindred spirit, if more reserved.
On Twilight’s bed, there was one well-worn pillow, the other was like brand new. This showed that Twilight was used to sleeping alone. By the lack of pictures of Twilight with anypony in particular which might suggest a deeper relationship, Lyra could deduce Twilight was without a Very Special Somepony in her life.
As she was headed to the bed Twilight offered her, her skills of detecting the smallest of details, honed from many years hunting fossils in the field, caught the title of a book on Twilight’s nightstand. It was open and pages down so Twilight wouldn’t lose her place, Lyra deduced that Twilight had been reading the book and had put it down when she went to the door.
The title was:
A Mare’s Holiday
The spine of the little paperback was well worn, telling Lyra Twilight favored this book especially.
Lyra understood why. This book kept her blood pumping on many lonely nights. Lyra had no idea Twilight would own such a book, much less read it.
Unless...
Twilight entered the room after putting Lyra’s bags away, Lyra turned and smiled at her hostess.
“Thank you Twilight,” said Lyra.
“No problem,” said Twilight with a smile.
Lyra returned the smile and surprised Twilight with a quick kiss on the lips.
“Good night Twilight,” said Lyra then she went to the guest bed and got in.
“Good night Lyra,” said Twilight, turning in as well. She was trying to understand why she felt the way she did, with Lyra kissing her.
Rarity, Pinkie Pie and believe-it-or-not Rainbow Dash had given a quick kiss every now and again. Just a simple girly thing between friends as thank you’s and hello/goodbye. However, this one felt different, it felt as if there were more than just the standard girly kiss.
On the other hoof, was she just being hopeful?
It was about midnight and Twilight woke up having to go pee, she must’ve drank more tea than she’d thought. When done, she returned to bed and rested her head on the pillow. That’s when a foreleg gently draped across her, and a warm soft body pressed against her back.
Twilight turned over to see Lyra looking at her, Lyra’s big amber eyes shining in the dark. Her foreleg was holding Twilight close.
It was actually quite pleasant.
“Why are you in my bed?” asked Twilight without anger or alarm.
Lyra chuckled.
“You got in bed with me ,” replied Lyra.
Twilight then realized she’d rearranged her room just before the trip to Canterlot. She’d switched position of the beds so she could avoid the early morning sun which shown through the window in her eyes this time of year. By habit, Twilight had gotten in the bed she was used to sleeping in.
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Because, to tell the truth,” said Lyra, “after catching the title of the book on your nightstand, I was hoping something like this would happen.”
Twilight could feel Lyra’s embrace tightening.
“Like what?” asked Twilight.
“Like this,” said Lyra.
Lyra then proceeded to kiss Twilight like the mares in her books do. Only for a nanosecond, Twilight considered resisting but this was exciting. She’d never kissed a pony like this, and she’d never been intimate with anypony either.
They kissed like this for several minutes. Twilight held Lyra so close it felt like she was trying to occupy the same physical space as Lyra. Lyra was pleased at the response from Twilight. She half feared Twilight would reject her right away or even be angry with her.
However, this was a school fantasy come true, Lyra had always had a crush on the purple mare that she shared many classes.
Soon Twilight felt a hoof at her marehood. It was barely entering her, rubbing on her clitoris. Twilight thought she’d go wild.
Twilight broke the kiss. Lyra saw a trace of fear in Twilight’s eyes.
“Lyra, I’ve never done this before,” said Twilight timidly.

They renewed the kiss; Lyra then gently rolled Twilight onto her back and started kissing down Twilight’s neck. When she got to Twilight’s chest, Twilight had to speak up.

“I’ll have to remember that for the future,” said Lyra giggling and then quickly kissed Twilight’s lips once more.
Then she returned to Twilight’s chest, she was doing her best not to tickle…

Soon she’d reached Twilight’s navel, Lyra spent some time kissing and licking deeply. Twilight felt herself becoming quite wet. She knew of the reaction, but she didn’t realize how it would feel. Her marehood was tingling as if Lyra was already there.

Twilight had been curious, she’d read all about this. Now here it was, Twilight decided there’d be no fun in just analyzing the situation so she started by kissing the outer lips, then she plunged her tongue in. Lyra stopped for a moment as she gasped and her hips twitched. This told Twilight she was doing it right.
Twilight had wondered while reading her books if the smell or taste would be something to be concerned. Now the taste and smell were driving her crazy.

Twilight returned the smile and started scooting down the bed.

Believe-it-or-not, I’d attend the school dances. I tried to convince myself I was there to study social interaction. However, I’d look to see if you were there. You’d be with our friends and I’d see you dance with them, laugh and having a good time. I so wanted to join you and have a dance or sit and talk. And when I’d see you leave with somepony, I’d leave as well, very hurt and disappointed. Not at you, but at myself. Because I could never work up the nerve to do the things I wanted to do.
But fear of rejection always kept me from reaching out to you. Otherwise, I might’ve tried to let you know my feelings then.
I know it probably doesn’t mean anything to most ponies, but I’d even skip some of my study times to go someplace you’d be.”
“Twilight, I know how much of a complement that is,” said Lyra giving Twilight a small kiss. “I’d see you at the dances, and I would’ve said something to you had I known you were interested in being with me. But the way you’d separate yourself from the other ponies, I always figured you didn’t want to interact, otherwise I’d have come over and asked you to dance and join us.
And the reason you did so much better in pop quizzes than me was perhaps because I would sit and look at you instead of paying attention to the lectures.
Truth be told, I had somewhat of a crush on you.”
Then blushing and giving Twilight another small kiss;
“And this wasn’t about getting a quick ‘piece of marehood’, I still have a crush on you, and your gorgeous flanks.
I hope you don’t feel like I was rushing this or that I’m some slut. I’ve had feelings for you for years. This was an answer to dreams and prayers. I was afraid to pass up the opportunity, in case it never came around again.”
“The same with me, Lyra. I’ve wanted you for years as well.”
Then Lyra started looking uncomfortable and Twilight couldn’t help but notice.
“Lyra?” said Twilight, “have I done or said something wrong?”
“No Twilight,” said Lyra, “I have a confession as well...
I want you to know I really feel close to you now, it’s something that I’ve desired since we were in school. And I hope to Luna, something more will come about. So I need to be as up front as I can with you.”
“You’re married? You have a family? I don’t make love good enough?” said Twilight starting to panic.
“No!” said Lyra hugging Twilight tightly, “most of that isn’t true.”
“Most of it?” asked Twilight afraid to hear, she was starting to have tears in her eyes. “I’m sorry if I’m not good enough, it was my first time, I promise that I’ll try harder!”
“No Honey,” said Lyra, giving Twilight another kiss, “you’ve read your books well. You make love splendidly.
I’ll just come out and say it.”
“I have a daughter.”
Twilight lay there quiet for a few moments. Lyra could tell Twilight was thinking.
“So you are married.” Said Twilight sadly.
Lyra saw Twilight looked like she felt she’d been used.
“No,” said Lyra giving Twilight another quick kiss, “it was the ‘I have a family’ part.
You need to know this if we’re to have a relationship. And by Celestia, I truly hope we will.
It happened like this:
I was on my first dig as a postgraduate student and still quite young. There was this one other postgraduate student, a Unicorn who believed himself to be Celestia’s gift to mares.
I won’t dignify anything about him by saying his name, I’ve sworn never to speak it ever .
He was convinced because there are ten mares for every one stallion in Equestria, all mares were desperate for any attention a stallion would give them.
He truly believed when a mare said ‘no’, she was just playing hard to get.
He’d constantly ‘hit on me’, but I made it known to him I wasn’t interested. What I didn’t realize at the time was with each rejection, it just made me more of challenge to him.”
Twilight could see tears starting to form in Lyra’s eyes, so she held the mint green Unicorn closer.
“I was at one part of the dig, a bit away from the others. It was dinnertime and as usual, I was too busy to think of eating. I was uncovering a particularly interesting fossil. I was on my knees, bend down to make sure of what I was doing wasn’t disturbing the fossil, the light was getting dim.
The next thing I knew was his voice from behind me saying, ‘I guess it’s your lucky day!’
Before I could get up or say anything, he was on me...
And in me.”
Lyra’s tears became a torrent.
“I screamed ‘No! No! STOP!’ He just kept humping me and calmly told me to quit acting like I didn’t want this and if I wasn’t quiet, the others would hear us! As if I was consenting to this.
He was so much heavier than I was so I couldn’t get out from under him. I screamed louder, because I could tell he was about to ejaculate.
We weren’t as isolated as he thought. Up came several of the other postgraduate students. One, a burly Earth Pony who realized what was going on, rushed and kicked the fiend so hard I heard ribs pop. He tumbled off me to the ground just to one side.
What I saw sent a chill through me, he was still dripping semen.
‘Not so rough!’ he said, ‘I’m finished with the little slut , you can have a turn if you want, I got her nice and loosened up.’
Others had arrived at the same time and heard his confession. He was tackled and bound by the male students.
“What are you doing,” he shouted. “Don’t let her fool you, all whores want it!”
That same Earth Pony back hoofed him across the mouth several times, the other students had to separate them. But all of the mares and most of the stallions cheered him. Little did the jerk know, that Earth Pony’s sister had been raped by a lowlife colt with the same mind set. Unfortunately, that view is becoming more prevalent.
The females comforted me until two carts were brought up. They wisely didn’t want to transport us together.
Sworn statements from the witness and DNA samples from the sperm removed from me during the medical exam would’ve prevented a long trial.
But he couldn’t face what he did was wrong. Believing himself persecuted for nothing, he cut an artery in his neck while waiting for trial in his cell.
There was a note left in the cell addressed to me saying something to the effect of: he hoped I was happy for causing all of this!”
Lyra started crying harder, she looked at Twilight:
“I swear! I hadn’t given him any reason to believe I wanted any attention from him.”
Twilight just held Lyra closer, she slowly stroked her blue-green and white mane and kissed her lightly on the top of her head as Lyra buried her face into Twilight’s chest. Twilight could feel the warm wetness of the flood of tears. Her heart was breaking for this pony she was feeling more for than she had any other pony.
Lyra soon had her crying under control and looked at Twilight and wiped the tears from her eyes:
“They couldn’t believe I wanted to return to the dig as soon as I did. I finished the season and returned home.
But it wasn’t the end of it.
Not long after coming home, Bon became concerned, as I was sick several mornings in a row. She insisted I go to the doctor with her. I really didn’t want to because I didn’t want to know the answer.
But the doctor confirmed it; I was pregnant. The only time I ever had intercourse with a stallion and it took.
Bon and I talked about it, we quickly decided it wasn’t the foal’s fault and perhaps this could be the only good thing to come out of the event.”
Lyra continued, starting to smile a bit:
“Melody, my darling daughter, lives with my sister and me. Bon watches her while I’m in the field.”
Twilight continued to hold Lyra, Lyra reached out and pulled Twilight close and kissed her with all her soul.
“Thank you for listening to me and not throwing me out.” Said Lyra resting her head on Twilight’s shoulder.
“Lyra,” said Twilight, “I am so sorry. And I’m honored you felt you could share that with me. And there’s no reason I’d throw you out for something you had no control over!
And to tell the truth, I can’t wait to meet Melody. I bet she’s as beautiful as her mother.”
“So you’d still want to be with me?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” asked Twilight.
“Because I’m a soiled pony. I’m tainted and dirty, not worthy of a princess like you,” said Lyra, looking as if she was reliving the past encounter which made her feel shame.
Twilight was alarmed that Lyra felt that way. She’d heard of ponies who let traumatic violation make them think that they did something to cause it or worse, to deserve it. Twilight knew that she needed to help Lyra out from under this, even if nothing else came out of this relationship.
“Don’t even think that! I may be a princess, but I’m no better than anypony, nor do I want to be.
The shame is on the beast that hurt you. His is the soiled soul. I’m sure the flames of Tartarus have convinced him of that by now.
And how can a beautiful child be the result of being soiled? She only proves that whatever power that guides pony’s lives gave you a blessing and all the dishonor is on the one who hurt you.
Don’t ever let anypony ever tell you anything different. If they do, tell them to see me.
So there’s no reason I wouldn’t want to be with you.
I’ve never felt like this for anypony. And if you have a daughter,” said Twilight with a smile, “then she’s part of you. Therefore, if I want to be with you, why wouldn’t I want her around as well?”
With Twilight’s words, Lyra felt something in her finally give up the shame, she had convinced herself that she should bear. Lyra and Twilight continued kissing and just stroking each other’s bodies. But after a while;
“Twilight,” said Lyra yawning, “I really want to go on, but it’s been a long trip and I’m really tired. And the talk has taken a lot out of me.
Do you mind?”
“I don’t mind,” said Twilight, “I just hope it’s the fatigue and not that I’m no longer of any interest to you.”
“Not of interest to me?” said Lyra, “don’t even think it! I don’t think I’ve ever had a pony make me feel this good. Are you sure you’ve never done this before?
I was trying to think of a polite and non-desperate way to let you know I’d really, really want to get together again, and soon.
If you’d want to.”
“Want to?” said Twilight, “try and stop me. I only now wish we’d hung out together in school.”
The two laughed and Twilight started to get out of the bed.
“Where’re you going?” asked Lyra.
“I was going to my bed so you could get some sleep.”
“Wouldn’t you rather cuddle?” asked Lyra with an alluring look on her face.
It was exactly what Twilight was yearning to hear. Twilight smiled as she lay back down with Lyra. The two mares embraced closely and were soon asleep.
Both were dreaming some very pleasant dreams.

CHAPTER TWO: A New Type Of Relationship
Twilight woke up holding Lyra close. It was apparent her partner was still asleep. Twilight reflected on the night’s lovemaking and how much of a school fantasy had been fulfilled. But there was more, as Twilight looked on Lyra’s comely face, her heart was feeling lighter than it ever had. Here was a mare Twilight had wanted since school. Perhaps more than she’d ever admitted to herself.
‘I hope to Celestia, Lyra is feeling the same,’ thought Twilight with a smile. ‘Because I sure could get used to this.’
And it was more than just the sex, although the sex was better than she’d ever imagined. No, it was just the feeling of having a pony lying next to her who wanted to be with herself. Twilight had never even considered such a thing. It wasn’t a part of ‘relationships’ Twilight had ever read about. But she was now sure this, the togetherness, was the most important part of being with a pony.
After about a half hour, the sun started to shine through the bedroom window.
The light shone on Lyra, she felt herself waking up. But she was realizing the feeling of being held and the afterglow of lovemaking wasn’t a dream. It was truly a school fantasy come true for herself as well. Lyra wasn’t disappointed, Twilight Sparkle turned out to be a better lover than Lyra thought she might be.
And it just now struck her that she was living the fillyhood dream of having a handsome prince (okay, a very cute princess) sweep her off her hooves and taken away to his (her) castle.
But there was something more to last night than Lyra had ever felt with past marefriends. In the past, it was fun and to a small degree, there was affection. But with Twilight, she felt more. She felt a pony was giving her heart and soul as well as her body.
Plus the way Twilight had comforted her as she told of her violent violation was more than even her sister had done. It was so intimate, a pony who truly felt her pain and in doing so, Twilight was giving to Lyra, Twilight’s own strength to ease her distress.
Lyra found herself wishing this could go on forever. But she wasn’t going to rush it and perhaps scare off Twilight. After all, this was new to her and Lyra had to be careful not to appear desperate or like some kind of whore.
As Lyra opened her eyes, she saw Twilight just looking at her.
“Didn’t you sleep?” asked Lyra smiling.
“Yes,” said Twilight, “but I’m thankful I’ve had about a half hour to just look at the pony I’d always dreamed of waking up next to.”
Lyra smiled even more, Twilight’s priority was being with her, not sex. It was refreshing to find this in a pony.
“Come here you,” said Lyra.
They pulled the other closer and indulged in some obligatory kissing.
After a bit, the two mares got up and showered together, it consisted of more kissing and some cleaning.
When finished, they went downstairs and Twilight fixed them breakfast. They talked, laughed and ate. Neither Lyra nor Twilight had ever felt so at ease with anypony ever. After breakfast, Lyra said she had to get going. She was sure Bonbon and Melody would be home by now and they’d be worried she wasn’t there.
Lyra was levitating her bags and about to go out the door, she was a little fearful of what Twilight’s answer to the next question would be. Lyra turned to Twilight and said:
“I suppose you want to keep this quiet for now.”
“Why,” asked Twilight “are you regretting this?”
“No!” said Lyra, thrilled at the reaction so far. “I just remember you were always so guarded about your personal life.”
“Step outside,” said Twilight with a smile.
The two went outside, there were ponies everywhere going about their morning chores. Twilight saw Rainbow Dash heading their way.
They walked down the steps and then Twilight put a foreleg around Lyra’s neck and kissed her quite passionately and long.
After they broke the kiss, they were all smiles. By now, Rainbow was right there and had stopped dead in her tracks, mouth open in shock.
“I’ll see you later,” said Lyra.
“You better,” said Twilight.
“Count on it,” said Lyra giving Twilight another quick kiss and then started to trot off.
“Morning Rainbow Dash,” said Lyra as she passed.
“Uh, good morning Lyra,” said Rainbow quite confused.
Both Rainbow and Twilight watched Lyra as she trotted away, although Twilight was more interested in the movement of Lyra’s flanks.
“Hello Rainbow,” said Twilight, “how was your weekend?”
“I was about to ask you the same thing,” said Rainbow, “but I don’t think I need to.”
Twilight laughed:
“Come inside and have some coffee.”
They were sitting in Twilight’s kitchen drinking coffee. They talked about the business each had gone on their trip for. Rainbow was stalling for time. It took Rainbow almost an hour to work up the nerve to ask her closest friend the big question.
As they sat quiet for a few minutes, Twilight noticed the puzzled look on Rainbow.
“Okay Rainbow, what’s wrong?” asked Twilight.
Although Twilight knew the answer.
Rainbow swallowed her coffee and then cleared her throat.
“Well Twi, to be honest,” said Rainbow, “I never expected to see a pony come out of the castle in the early morning and you give them a passionate goodbye kiss, especially a mare.”
“You’ve a problem with mares?” asked Twilight.
“No! No! Celestia no!” said Rainbow, “you know better than that. But it just doesn’t fit my preconceived ideas about you.”
“You don’t think I could ever have any intimate friends?” asked Twilight.
“Intimate as in...”
“Yes Rainbow,” said Twilight with a giggle, “we had sex. And if all goes well, it won’t be the last time.”
“So Lyra and Bonbon have broken up?” asked Rainbow.
“I know ponies can have troubles and not get along,” said Twilight with a knowing grin. “But I really don’t think you can actually break up with a sister.”
“Sister?” asked Rainbow.
“Yes, Bonbon is Lyra’s sister. I had the same reaction,” said Twilight.
Before there was anything else said, they heard that some pony had entered the castle and was calling out.
“Princess Twilight?” called a familiar voice, “are you here?”
Rainbow recognized the voice and became concerned.
“Speak of Discord and he shall appear,” said Rainbow quietly. Twilight just smirked at the comment.
Twilight walked out to the hall and called:
“Yes, back here. Please come on back.”
Into the kitchen came the very familiar pony. She looked quite serious.
“Bonbon, it’s just Twilight,” said Twilight, “did you need help with something? What can I do for you?”
“I’ll be blunt, so please forgive me. But did you put Lyra up for the night?” asked the Earth Pony.
“Yes I did, it was raining, she was locked out and came to see me,” said Twilight, “we’d rode together on the train from Canterlot.”
“And you bought her dinner?”
“If you can call it that, it was just daisy sandwiches and tea in the dining car. There was more talking than actual eating.”
“Did she tell you about Melody?”
“Yes,” said Twilight with a smile, “she told me all about her. And really, I can’t wait to meet her!”
“And you talked to her about her feelings of shame.” Asked the cream Earth Pony.
“Yes I did,” said Twilight proudly, “I let her know that there’s no shame if she herself didn’t do anything shameful. Some other pony’s sins are not hers.”
“And please tell me the truth,” said Bonbon quite seriously, “did you sleep with Lyra?”
Rainbow was starting to worry, perhaps Twilight didn’t have all the facts.
“Yes Bonbon,” said Twilight without the slightest concern, “we slept together. But if you’re really asking, then yes, we had sex.”
There was a quiet moment, but the only pony concerned was Rainbow Dash.
Bonbon took in and let out a cleansing breath, relaxed and smiled.
“Thank Celestia!” said Bonbon, “so many ponies have had the wrong idea about my sister and me that I’ve been afraid she’d never have any serious relationships.
Plus too many narrow minded ponies have tried to put a stigma on Ly because of being a victim of something she’d no control over.
And when they hear about Melody, they tend to be afraid to enter any relationship, as if Ly was looking for a live-in foal sitter.
She’s my baby sister and she’s always tried to spare me from worrying about her. Especially after the incident , so sometimes she exaggerates to placate me. I practically raised her, so I guess I can be a bit overprotective.
But with the way she was caring on this morning. Well forgive me, but I wanted to check it out and make sure.”
“I’m so glad Lyra has a sister who looks after her. My brother is the same way, and it’s as much proof as any that he loves me,” said Twilight.
Twilight got up and went over and hugged Bonbon, Bonbon returned the hug warmly.
“I may be ahead of myself, but I hope you’ve no problems with me being with your sister.”
“I’m so happy!” said Bonbon, “believe it or not, Ly has always talked about you ever since her classes back at C S G U.”
Twilight invited Bonbon to sit and have coffee.
“It sounds like somepony had a crush,” said Rainbow.
“I’d say it was more than a crush,” said Bonbon. “My sister’s had marefriends in the past, but she’s never acted this happy since she got her doctorate!”
“She’s excited?” asked Twilight hopefully.
“More than anything,” said Bonbon, “when I told her I was coming over here, she asked if it’d be okay to ask you to dinner tonight.”
“To tell the truth,” said Twilight. “I’m rather excited myself. I’ve had a crush on Lyra since school as well. I’d go to games just to see her play. And if it’s okay with you, I’d love to come to dinner.”
“Then we’ll see you about six,” said Bonbon finishing her coffee. “I need to open the shop but I’ll see you later.
I just hope Ly can keep it together until then.
I’ll show myself out. I can find the way.”
All the ponies laughed as Bonbon left.
After a few moments, Rainbow spoke up.
“Are you sure about all this?” asked Rainbow.
“What are you saying?” asked Twilight unsure of what her friend was suggesting.
“Well,” said Rainbow, “you’ve never had this kind of relationship. You’ve never been involved with anypony in the past, much less one with a child. I only want you to be sure you aren’t just thinking with your loins.”
“Are you saying I don’t know what I’m doing?”
“No Twi, I want you to be happy, I really do. But when it’s the first...
Relationship , it’s easy to get swept up in the emotions and not think about long term implications.”
“Oh no! Did Discord really appear?” laughed Twilight.
“Wait! What?” asked Rainbow.
“Do you know how weird it sounds with you cautioning me not to be overly emotional?” Said Twilight, Rainbow did chuckle at the irony, “but it’s true I’ve never been with a pony like this.
But we really do have a lot in common. She’s studious, we went to the same school, and we have a love of the advancement of knowledge.
And we did seem to click in bed.”
“Okay Twi,” said Rainbow, “I’m happy for both of you, really I am. Just be careful and try not to be swept up to the point you make mistakes.”
“Are you jealous? I know you’ve always wanted me,” said Twilight putting a hoof on Rainbow’s lap and rubbing Rainbow’s marehood and batting her eyes.
Rainbow looked shocked, but Twilight couldn’t keep a straight face. Rainbow realized her leg was being pulled. Most ponies didn’t think Twilight had a sense of humor, but Rainbow knew better. Twilight’s humor was a little ‘dry’ and quirky at best, but it was there and Rainbow appreciated it.
“Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!” Said Rainbow putting her own hoof on and rubbing Twilight’s marehood and laughing, “if I’d wanted you, you would’ve been had by now. Just another notch on my bedpost.”
The two withdrew their hoofs. Then to Twilight’s surprise, Rainbow tasted her hoof.
“So that’s what Lyra tastes like,” teased Rainbow.
Twilight tasted her own hoof:
“So that’s what your hoof tastes like.”
Rainbow and Twilight burst out laughing.
“Touché,” laughed Rainbow, “you’re probably not too far from wrong. But like I said, I’m happy for you. It’s just if things go wrong, as your best friend I’ll be the one That’ll have be there to help you through the crash.”
“I haven’t said this is a ‘love for the ages’ ,” said Twilight.
“Love ?” asked Rainbow with a raised eyebrow.
“It’s just a saying,” said Twilight blushing. “After all, we’ve only started being together just last night.”
“If you say so,” said Rainbow, “just don’t blindly rush into things.
I have to get to work but I’ll be available if you need me.
Or you feel the need to brag.”
Rainbow got up and gave her friend a warm hug.
“I’m truly happy for the two of you,” said Rainbow, “don’t think I’m not.”
Finish your coffee, I’ll show myself out. I can find the way.”
They both chuckled.
Twilight finished a second cup of coffee and got up and went about her daily business as normal. But there was the inclusion of taking time to stop and think of a marvelous night spent with and equally marvelous mare.
And she was getting anxious to meet Melody.
It was five-fifteen and Twilight couldn’t wait any longer. She stopped by the wine store and picked up a rather nice bottle of dessert wine and then went to Daisy, Rose and Lilly’s flower shop and picked up a bouquet of flowers. Then at Rich’s Barnyard Bargains, Twilight picked up a stuffed teddy bear.
Still Twilight showed up at the candy shop ten minutes early. The closed sign was on the door so she knocked.
When the door opened, both Bonbon and Lyra were there.
“Hello ladies,” said Twilight, “I hope being early isn’t an inconvenience.”
“Not at all,” said Bonbon, “it was all I could do to keep Ly from running out the door to fetch you for the last two hours.
Please come in.”
Twilight entered and after a quick hug from both mares, Twilight gave the wine to Bonbon and the flowers to Lyra.
Then Twilight saw a little light blue Unicorn filly with a darker blue and white mane and tail almost like Minuette, standing off to the side looking as timid as Fluttershy. She appeared to be about the same age as Scootaloo, Apple Bloom or Sweetie Belle.
Twilight offered the stuffed animal to the cute little filly, but she hesitated.
“Mommy,” said the filly sounding intimidated, “Miss Twilight is an Alicorn! Is she a princess?”
“I am,” said Twilight, “but I’m just a pony like you or your mom. So don’t worry about that.”
“It’s okay, Melody,” said Lyra. “Miss Twilight is a very nice pony and mommy’s friend. I trust her and so can you.”
The filly levitated the bear;
“Thank you Princess Twilight,” said Melody, who then whispered something to her mother.
“You can tell her that,” said Lyra, “I think she’d like it.”
The filly looked embarrassed but then said;
“I told mommy I thought you were a nice and pretty lady.”
“Thank you so much Melody,” said Twilight blushing slightly. “I think you’re a very pretty filly and I bet you’re nice as well. And please, you don’t have to call me princess.”
“Thank you for the present, Prince… Miss Twilight,” said Melody as she smiled and took off up the stairs.
Twilight thought the filly’s name was apropos, her voice was like music.
“She is as beautiful as her mom,” said Twilight with a smile.
This resulted in a large kiss from the mint green Unicorn.
“Okay you two,” said Bonbon chuckling, “time for that later, dinner is almost ready. Let’s go upstairs.”
Twilight had never been past the candy counter and was intrigued to see the rest of the dwelling.
The upstairs was like her old library in that there was a middle level which was the living room, family kitchen and dining area, and then another level housed the sleeping areas and the main bathroom.
“Very nice,” said Twilight.
“Thank you,” said Lyra standing very close to Twilight.
“Why don’t you take Twilight up to the upper level so she can wash up,” said Bonbon, “then come back down and dinner will be ready.
Try not to take too long.”
Lyra led Twilight up the narrow stairs to the third level. From the way Lyra was holding her tail, and her marehood partly relaxed, she knew exactly what Twilight was thinking.
“See anything you like?” asked Lyra.
“I see everything I like,” replied Twilight rushing forward enough to plant a kiss on Lyra’s exposed marehood.
“Don’t do that unless you plan to finish it,” said Lyra snickering.
“I have every intention,” said Twilight.
After a quick kissing session and an even quicker hoof washing, the two returned to the living area.
Bonbon had set the table for four, poured the wine and water for the filly. Bonbon had also prepared all the food, and all without magic. Twilight was truly impressed.
“It all looks so good and smells even better,” said Twilight.
“Thank you so much, Twilight,” said the Earth Pony blushing, “I try my best.”
“Well, I try my best,” said Twilight, “but I don’t do this good with magic.”
Bonbon blushed more, Lyra gave Twilight a little smile and nod of the head letting Twilight know she’d just said the right thing to her sister.
“Thank you Twilight,” said Bonbon, “if you use your tongue that good for other things, then I understand why my sister is so taken with you.”
It was Twilight’s turn to blush but all the ponies laughed, except Melody who didn’t get what the adults were laughing at.
They sat and ate and talked and drank wine for a good two hours.
Afterwards, they went to the living area. Melody was about to be taken by Lyra to the filly’s room for the night. But first she kissed her aunt and she even gave Twilight a hug.
“Goodnight Miss Twilight,” said Melody, “I’m glad my mommy has such a nice friend.”
“Thank you Melody,” said Twilight, “I hope I can be your friend too.”
The filly smiled and went upstairs with her mother. Twilight overheard the filly speaking to her mother:
“I really like Miss Twilight, mommy.”
Lyra came back down and Bonbon served some of her finest chocolates and the wine Twilight had brought.
Twilight and Lyra were sitting on a sofa, close and holding hooves. Bonbon was in an overstuffed chair facing them across a small coffee table.
They sat and talked about Ponyville, Canterlot, Lyra and Twilight’s school days, Lyra’s fieldwork, Twilight’s adventures with her five friends and Bonbon’s career with confection making.
They talked about everything.
Finally, it was getting late and Twilight was figuring she should start making her exit.
“Ladies,” said Twilight, “you both know my history with making friends. Before coming to Ponyville, I had friends but no idea what real friends were. Now I have five of the best friends ever. But as the Princess of Friendship, I see I’ve shortchanged myself. This evening with the two of you makes me regret not reaching out to you sooner.”
“Thank you Twilight,” said Bonbon, “I feel the same way, I’m sure you know how Lyra feels.”
“Yes,” said Twilight, “but it’s getting late and I don’t want to overstay my welcome, so I guess I need to be heading home.”
Lyra looked panicked.
“Surely you can stay, Spike is still away,” said Lyra to Twilight, then turning to her sister, “Bon, would you mind if Twilight stayed with me tonight?”
“Ly Sweetheart,” said Bonbon to her sister, “you’re an adult with a doctorate, not just my kid-sister anymore. For pony’s sake, you’ve a daughter of your own, I think it’d be a decision you can make for yourself. If Twilight wants to, and if you two don’t keep Melody and me up all night.”
The last comment was delivered with a wink.
“Twilight, would you like to stay with me tonight?’ said Lyra.
“I’d love to,” said Twilight, “as long as Bonbon doesn’t care. I don’t want to intrude.”
“Please stay,” said the Earth Pony, “I don’t think I could put up with my sister moping all night.”
“I’d love to stay,” said Twilight to Lyra.
Lyra’s response was a huge kiss.
“Then I insist I help clean up,” said Twilight.
“No,” said Bonbon. “This is your first time visiting, which makes you a guest. Next time you visit then you’re considered family. Moreover, it would be expected of you to help. That’s how I was raised.
Now the two of you get your flanks upstairs and get ready for bed. And don’t leave a mess in the bathroom.”
“Thank you sis,” said Lyra giving her sister a quick hug and kiss.
“Thank you Bonbon for a wonderful evening,” said Twilight giving the hostess a friendly hug.
“Thank you Twilight,” said Bonbon with a tear in her eye, “you’ve made Ly so very happy. This makes me happy for the two of you. Be good to my sis.”
“I will Bonbon,” said Twilight as she was dragged by the tail to the stairs.
After kissing in Lyra’s bedroom, Lyra suggested Twilight let her take a shower first. She said it was important.
As Twilight waited, she was looking at Lyra’s books, diplomas and awards. Lyra had almost as many degrees and accolades as herself. There were pictures of Lyra, apparently at one of her digs. She was wearing a khaki shirt and pith helmet, she looked like Daring Do.
‘Rainbow would get a kick out of that,’ thought Twilight.
There were also pictures of Melody, Bonbon and Lyra, at the beach, in the mountains and just hanging out in the park. It was truly a happy family, it made Twilight envious. It brought into sharp focus the isolation she’d imposed on herself, even with her five good friends and Spike.
As Twilight was distracted, Lyra crept quietly into the room and nipped Twilight’s flank and giggled.
“Oh!” said Twilight surprised.
“Your turn, and please take your time.” Said Lyra kissing Twilight.
Twilight went in the bathroom; there was a spare toothbrush, towels, soap and shampoo laid out for her. As she got in the shower, she heard a pony go down the stairs.
When she’d finished, she took her time drying off and brushing her teeth and mane.
Twilight then walked to Lyra’s bedroom and entered. Lyra was already in the bed, she was propped up with pillows in a semi-sitting position, her hind legs were bent and a blanket was across her lower half, making a kind of tent.
“Close the door and come closer.” Said Lyra with a sexy voice.
Twilight closed the door and walked closer.
“Are you ready for the dessert I promised?”
“You bet!” said Twilight.
Lyra levitated the blanket off and let her bent hind legs fall open.
Twilight saw it and never smiled so hard.
Lyra had spread chocolate icing on her marehood, and then added a dollop of whipped cream and on top was a single long stem cherry.
“I didn’t remember to bring a spoon,” purred Lyra with a cute little pout and batting her eyes, “I guess you’ll just have to lick it off!”
Twilight was officially more aroused than any of her books had ever made her.
Twilight went to the foot of the bed, and then on her belly, she scooted up to Lyra and her forelegs under Lyra’s bent hind legs making it easier to access Lyra’s ‘dessert’.
Twilight reached out her tongue and scooped up the cherry, Lyra was watching the whole thing.
Twilight was making a show of eating the cherry, and then Twilight stuck out her tongue. There was the cherry stem, Twilight levitated it so Lyra could get a better look, and it had two knots in it.
“Very nice!” said Lyra, “what else can you do with your tongue?”
Twilight proceeded to show her what she could do.
This time the two made love almost all night.

CHAPTER THREE: What The Morning Brings
Lyra awoke in Twilight’s forelegs. It was the best she’d ever felt with only two hours sleep. She opened her eyes to see Twilight just looking at her; Twilight was gently stroking her mane. Her heart jumped for joy.
“Don’t you ever sleep?” asked Lyra, the second morning in a row she opened her eyes to find Twilight holding and just looking at her.
“How could I sleep when I have the smartest, most beautiful mare in all Equestria in bed with me?” Asked Twilight with a most tender look on her face.
Tears started to form in Lyra’s eyes. Nopony had ever described her in those terms before. She could tell from the look in Twilight’s eyes it wasn’t some flattery, Twilight was really feeling that way.
“Be careful how you say things like that,” said Lyra snuggling closer to Twilight, “a pony might think you’re in love with me.”
Twilight moved her muzzle to within inches of Lyra’s.
“And they’d be right to think that,” whispered Twilight.
Lyra’s eyes shot open wide, a look of unbelievable joy shown in her face. As Twilight closed the distance and kissed Lyra the greatest kiss of her life. It was also the greatest of Twilight’s life as well.
After they broke the kiss, Lyra looked into Twilight’s eyes.
“Twilight, I’ve never believed in love at first sight or whirlwind romances.”
Twilight got a slight look of hurt in her eyes. Then Lyra continued:
“But I need to rethink all that...
Because, I love you too!”
The two embraced tightly and started crying with all the joy they felt. It was loud enough there was a knock at the door followed by it being opened enough to peek inside.
“Are you two alright?” asked Bonbon.
“Bon!” said Lyra, not even looking in her sister’s direction. She and Twilight were still embracing tightly. “Twilight loves me!”
“And Lyra loves me,” added Twilight.
There was a moment of silence.
“Well, Duh!” said Bonbon with a smirk. She came the rest of the way in the room. “For two smart ponies, you two took long enough to figure that out. Even Melody asked me this morning if you and Twilight were in love.”
There were three mares smiling. Bonbon continued:
“Breakfast will be ready in just a moment, so get up, clean up and come downstairs.
Oh, and Twilight, since this is technically a second day, you and Ly get to clean up after breakfast.”
“Yes ma’am,” said Twilight with a smile.
Bonbon smiled and then walked out, leaving the lovers to get ready for the day.
After breakfast, which was wonderful, Twilight and Lyra cleared the dishes, washed, dried and put them away. Bonbon was a bit jealous; Twilight and Lyra were sitting at the table drinking coffee, holding hooves and talking while their magic did all the work.
Seeing Bonbon enter the kitchen, Twilight said:
“Bonbon, if I eat here more often, I’m going to get fat.”
“Then there’d be more for Ly to love,” said Bonbon snickering.
Twilight had to go to the castle, there were some ponies stopping by for business. Lyra promised to come over there shortly; she had to talk to Bonbon about something.
Twilight had barely been home when Lyra came in the door, she had a full saddlebag.
“Twilight,” said Lyra timidly, she was flashing her big amber eyes at her, “may I stay with you for a few days?”
“You don’t know how happy that’d make me,” said Twilight.
Lyra kissed her deeply.
“As a matter of fact,” said Lyra, “I do know because I feel the same.”
“You know where the bedroom is; for putting your things away,” said Twilight with a smile. “When I’m done with the appointments today, we can have a nice little dinner. Read and talk and then...
Well, we’ll see.
By the way, where’s Melody?”
Lyra smiled and kissed Twilight a good passionate kiss.
“She’s outside with Bon. I didn’t know if you’d mind if she stayed as well. She’s very clingy right now; I’ve been in the field for two months.”
Twilight went to the door. There were Bonbon and Melody out on the lawn.
“Melody,” said Twilight. “Would you like to stay with your mommy and me?”
“In a castle?”
“Yes, Melody,” said Twilight, “it is my home.”
“Yes ma’am,” said the filly.
“Well come on in and help her with your stuff,” said Twilight.
Melody hugged Bonbon and then rushed to the door, her little saddlebag on her back.
“I’ll take good care of both of them,” said Twilight.
“You’d better,” said Bonbon kidding. Then she smiled and waved as she walked back to her shop.
Lyra and Melody went upstairs after Twilight told her to use any dresser and/or closet space she wanted. In addition, there were several unused bedrooms that Melody could use.
Melody rushed ahead, up the stairs. Lyra hung back, as she walked to the stairs; she looked back over her shoulder and flipped her tail to give a peek at her now relaxed marehood.
Both Twilight and Lyra giggled.
Lyra helped Melody put her things away and made sure the filly didn’t have any problem in the room that was much larger than her own room. The bed made hers look like dollhouse furniture. Melody was excited she was able to use such a room.
“Mommy,” said the little filly, “I really get to use this room?”
“Yes Sweetie,” replied the mother, “it’s for you to use as long as we stay here.”
“I really like it, Miss Twilight’s house is so big. Is she rich?”
“No,” said Lyra, “I don’t think so. But she’s the Princess of Friendship , so she lives in the castle.”
“How long are we going to stay here?” asked Melody.
Lyra didn’t have an answer. She knew what she wanted the answer to be, but she didn’t need to say anything to her daughter until things happened.
“We’ll be here at least a few days Honey,” said Lyra.
“I wouldn’t mind if we stayed here forever,” said Melody smiling, “I really like Miss Twilight, she’s such a nice pony.”
“I really like her too,” said Lyra.
“No you don’t,” said Melody.
Lyra was shocked at the statement.
“Why do you say that?” asked Lyra.
“You don’t like Miss Twilight,” answered the daughter, “you love her.”
Lyra smiled.
“Yes Sweetie,” said Lyra, “mommy loves Twilight.”
“I’m so glad,” said Melody. “I think I could love her too.”
Lyra hugged her daughter, so glad she approved of her marefriend.
Lyra showed Melody where to put her stuff and where the bathroom was. Then she told her daughter she had to put her own stuff away. Melody gave her mother a hug and a kiss. Then she and started to play with some of the toys she’d brought with her.
As Lyra was putting her things away, she started to feel tired from not getting a lot of sleep the last two nights and traveling before that.
However, that wasn’t what was on her mind right now. She kept thinking on Melody’s remark of wanting to stay here forever. To tell the truth, it’s exactly what she was thinking herself. After putting a few personal items away, Lyra looked at Twilight’s bed and smiled. She noticed Twilight had removed her bed and the ‘guest bed’. Now there was a slightly larger bed, Twilight had brought it up from the basement storeroom.
“Maybe Twilight is thinking the same,” said Lyra trying to use logic, “one bed for two ponies. Celestia bless you Twilight, I want to be with you just as badly.”
Lyra lay down on Twilight’s bed thinking of the first night there, along with last night. She took one of the pillows and held it, it smelled like Twilight.
She wasn’t exaggerating when she’d said nopony had ever made her feel this way. And she was sure it was more that an infatuation from a long held fantasy coming true. She could feel Twilight really did love her like nopony before. In addition, Lyra felt she loved Twilight the same.
Were they rushing it? Twilight confessed she’d a crush on Lyra at school, as did Lyra for Twilight. It could be argued this relationship was actually years in the making and only now had they admitted it to themselves the depth.
Lyra yawned.
‘I’ll just rest my eyes for a minute’ thought Lyra and closed her eyes, but she was soon asleep.
Melody came to find her mother and found her asleep on a bed in a large bedroom. She went to awaken her mommy to ask a question. But the filly was distracted by a funny old doll on a dresser. She cuddled the funny doll and lay down with her mommy. She really liked this new place.
Twilight realized Lyra and Melody had gone upstairs some time ago. She couldn’t hear anypony moving around.

CHAPTER FOUR: An Interesting Offer
After a meeting with Mayor Mare, Twilight went upstairs to check on her marefriend. Lyra had gone up to put things away almost two hours ago. Twilight was amused when she found Lyra was curled up on the bed, cuddling Melody who’d found Smarty-Pants and was cuddling the doll. Twilight chuckled and kissed them both lightly on the cheek.
“I never believed I’d ever have such wonderful ponies to love,” said Twilight lovingly to herself.
Her heart felt like it would explode from the joy she felt, and a tear of joy rolled down her cheek.
The thought was interrupted by voices coming from the lower level.
Twilight went back down stairs, there were Applejack and Rarity. Twilight couldn’t help but smirk; now she knew what it was like to truly love a pony.
“Twilight Darling,” said Rarity excitedly, “is it true what Rainbow said?”
Twilight had often wished for this opening line from somepony.
“I don’t know,” said Twilight with a snicker, “Rainbow says an awful lot.”
Twilight had actually wanted to say that for a long time.
“’Bout you an’ Lyra Heartstrings,” said Applejack with a chuckle, Rarity laughed too.
Twilight could tell both of her friends were excited.
“Is it true Rainbow found her leaving here yesterday, early in the morning and you kissing her ?” asked Rarity.
Applejack and Rarity looked at Twilight intently. Applejack liked gossip, Rarity liked juicy details.
Twilight smiled and paused to think of the best way to say it.
“It was more like we were kissing each other, I’d let her answer for herself, but I’d have to wake her up so she could. She’s up on my bed right now,” said Twilight, “however, I’d rather let her sleep a bit longer.”
Both Rarity and Applejack’s eyes popped open and their jaws hung down.
“She’s here!” asked Applejack.
“On your bed ?” asked Rarity.
“Yes, she’s not had a lot of sleep the last couple of nights. I’m afraid sex has been more of a priority,” said Twilight with a wink.
“Twilight Sparkle!” said Rarity, “I never thought you’d be so forward! To talk about something so intimate, so casually, I’d never have believed it of you.”
“I’ve no reserve about my feelings,” said Twilight, “and I’m proud to say I love Lyra, and she loves me.
I’ve never loved a pony before, not like this. It’s the most liberating experience ever! I don’t want to hide it ; I want the world to know!”
Rarity and Applejack looked at each other, they had caught to what Twilight was alluding.
“You know about us,” asked Rarity meekly, “don’t you?”
“Yes,” said Twilight with a smile, “I have for some time now, but it’s your business, so I’ve respected your privacy. If you want other ponies to know, then that’s up to you.”
“Well thank ya,” said Applejack.
“So do you two have any problem with me being in love with Lyra, a mare?” asked Twilight.
“Well Darling,” said Rarity, “with you knowing about us , I say it’d be somewhat hypocritical if we say we did.”
“Twi,” said Applejack, “Ah think it’d be fair to say we’re happy and plum proud of ya.”
“What about me?” asked a voice from the hall.
“Sweetheart,’ said Twilight, “did we wake you? I’m sorry.”
Lyra entered the room and walked up to Twilight then kissed her deeply. Applejack and Rarity were pleasantly surprised.
“No Honey,” said Lyra, “I wasn’t too deeply asleep. But keep it down, Melody is still asleep.”
“Well this is the library, My Love,” said Twilight with a chuckle.
Rarity and Applejack never ever thought they’d hear Twilight calling somepony endearments.
“Melody?” asked Applejack. “You mean Apple Bloom’s class mate?”
“Yes, she’s Lyra’s daughter,” said Twilight, “a beautiful little filly. As beautiful as her mother.”
“Oh Sweetie!” said Lyra giving Twilight a kiss.
Applejack and Rarity both smiled at the affection being shown. Their own relationship was, for the most part, satisfying. Now they saw the part that was perhaps missing, being able to share their joy with their friends.
“Lyra Darling,” said Rarity, “You’re a respected pony around Ponyville, a pony of unimpeachable character. I can’t think of anypony else who’d be as good of a match for our Twilight.”
Rarity and Lyra hugged.
“You don’t know how much you saying that means to me, me being accepted by Twilight’s friends. I know how much you mean to her.”
“Well count on all of us to be there fer ya,” said Applejack giving the mint green Unicorn a warm hug as well.
At that moment, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash came through the door. Seeing Applejack and Lyra hugging, Pinkie remarked:
“Dashie, I thought you said Lyra and Twilight were together.”
All the ponies laughed, not sure if Pinkie was kidding.
Rarity put a foreleg around Applejack.
“Sorry Lyra Darling,” said Rarity with a wicked smile, “but you’re stuck with Twilight. This one’s mine, I saw her first.”
Rarity and Applejack kissed in front of their friends for the first time.
“What is in the water?” asked Rainbow.
“Well, if that’s the way it is,” said Pinkie.
Pinkie turned and kissed Fluttershy a deep passionate kiss. When Pinkie broke the kiss, Fluttershy stood there a moment, with her eyes closed, her mouth slightly open and tongue slightly extended, looking as if she was still receiving the kiss. Then she opened her eyes, blushed a little and looked down.
“Not the two of you too!” said Rainbow, ready to fall over from shock.
“Nope,” said Pinkie Pie, “I just thought it looked like fun...
And it was!”
“Next time, at least take me to dinner first,” said Fluttershy blushing.
Everypony laughed, not sure if Fluttershy meant anything, especially the way she was looking at Pinkie.
“All kidding aside, Lyra Darling,” said Rarity, “we five friends of Twilight’s are now your friends. Our number one goal in life is to make sure the others are happy, safe and loved. You’re now part of our group as long as you and Twilight are together.”
“And we all hope that’ll be a long time,” said Applejack.
“Your friends are now our friends,” said Rainbow, “your concerns are now our concerns, your joys are now our joys.
And Celestia help them! But if you have any enemies, then they’re now our enemies!”
“I don’t know what to say girls,” said Lyra starting to have tears form in her eyes. Twilight is so special, and she talks of you all so highly. But to know now you put me on the same level, it humbles me.”
“Just be good to Twilight,” said Pinkie, “or we’ll hear about it.”
“And Twilight,” said Fluttershy, “It goes for you too, now Lyra is one of us.”
Then there was a group hug Lyra never thought she’d be participating. The love she felt for Twilight was immense, but the love these ponies were showing Twilight, and yes, herself was almost as great.
The friends had an exciting time of talk, gossip and just having fun being together. Many of the ponies wanted the full story of how Twilight and Lyra got together, not to mention Applejack and Rarity.
Melody came down stairs and into the library. All the gathered mares took time fussing over the little filly. Applejack and Rarity knew Melody because she was friends with their sisters. Melody smiled at the attention but she stuck close to her mom.
Soon enough, it was time for the rest of the ponies to go about their business and all said their congratulations to Lyra and Twilight (also Applejack and Rarity).
As they were leaving, most of the ponies didn’t know what to think when Pinkie asked Fluttershy if she’d want to go to dinner with her tonight. Even more amused when Fluttershy said she’d be glad to.
Then it was just Twilight, Lyra and Melody. Lyra walked Melody to school. Luckily, it was a ‘Late Start’ day. Lyra returned and busied herself around the castle helping her marefriend out.
Soon enough it was evening time. Lyra had put together a nice salad, which was delicious. Twilight and Lyra helped Melody with her homework and then they played a board game with Melody, which brought joy to the filly. She could tell Twilight really did like her and not just because she was her mommy’s friend.
Lyra then took out her lyre and played some original music for their pleasure.
But it got late and Melody couldn’t stop yawning, so she said goodnight to Twilight, and to Twilight’s delight, Melody gave her a kiss goodnight. After putting the little filly to bed, Lyra came back down and the two were sitting in the library just talking and sipping some wine.
Lyra and Twilight sat close. They were just holding hooves, Lyra’s head was resting on Twilight’s shoulder and Twilight’s head was resting lightly on Lyra’s head. They talked about their day and how nice it was to be together.
“I wish we could be together like this all the time,” said Twilight.
“Careful Twilight,” said Lyra sitting up, looking into Twilight’s eyes and giggling, “a pony might take that as a proposal.”
“Although the thought is appealing,” said Twilight, giving Lyra a little kiss, “I think it’s way too soon to talk about marriage.”
“I know,” giggled Lyra, “but, if it’s okay with you, perhaps a more short-term arrangement.”
“Like what?” asked Twilight.
“Well,” said Lyra blushing, “I’ve been a burden on my sister, though she won’t admit it. But she’s somehow felt guilty after the rape, like she should have been watching me closer. And she’s had to deal with Melody so much when I’m away she hasn’t had much of a personal and social life.
I don’t want to sound pushy or too forward, but would you object to Melody and I actually moving in with you for a time. Perhaps long enough to figure out if it’s just lust or if there’s really something there that needs to be permanent.”
Tears started to roll down Twilight’s face.
“I’m sorry Sweetie,” said Lyra, “I came on too strong and too quick, didn’t I? I don’t want to scare you off.”
“It’s not that,” said Twilight smiling and wiping away the tears.
“Then what?” asked Lyra.
Twilight drew Lyra close in her forelegs in a deep hug.
“It’s like I have my own family now,” said Twilight, “it isn’t like anything I ever expected.”
Twilight started kissing Lyra intensely. There was a purple aura around the two then a flash. Lyra realized that they were now in Twilight’s room.
“No need to mess up the sofas in the public area,” said Twilight with a smile as she led Lyra to the bed.
“You plan on getting messy?” asked Lyra with a twinkle in her eyes.
Twilight smiled, there was a flash of magic, and then there was a jar of honey and bowl of berries on the nightstand.
“I hope you like fruit salad,” said Twilight, as she rolled on the bed to her back.
The honey levitated and poured from her marehood, across her nipples and to her naval. Then the berries flew out of the bowl and spread across the honey.
Lyra worked on cleaning all the honey and berries off her love, starting from the naval down to the marehood. From the excitement, Twilight climaxed before Lyra even got to her marehood. Lyra made doubly sure that Twilight’s marehood was good and clean, which exacted another two climaxes.
When Lyra was done, a monster kissing session ensued. Then it was Lyra’s turn.
“Can’t have fruit salad without some wine,” said Lyra.
Lyra rolled on her back, her horn glowed. Out of her bag floated a bottle of Champaign. The top popped off and hovered above Lyra’s navel.
“Hope you’re thirsty!” said Lyra.
“Parched!” said Twilight who positioned herself between Lyra’s hind legs, forward enough to access her love’s naval.
The wine flowed slowly into Lyra’s bellybutton, then as Twilight lapped it up eagerly, the bottle started to drift down toward Lyra’s love organ.
As it was above it, the wine drizzled down the opening. The feel of the bubbling wine on her clitoris was almost as pleasing as Twilight’s tongue as she licked it up.

After a time, the two embraced and kissed hungrily.
“How did I ever live without you My Love,” said Twilight.

CHAPTER FIVE: You Only Thought You Knew Fluttershy
That same evening…
Pinkie walked Fluttershy to the yellow Pegasus’ cottage. Pinkie never understood why her friend, who was so shy and a bit of a scaredy-pony would choose to live so far away from Ponyville. And right against the Everfree Forest no less. But with her being able to fly and Sweet Apple Acres just a half a mile up the lane, she probably felt safe. Some of her animal friends probably wouldn’t be comfortable in town. Plus the townsponies probably would be nervous with the large bear that visited Fluttershy often. Harry loved Fluttershy and he made sure none of the dangers of the forest disturbed his friend, where else could a bear get his back adjusted?
They stopped at the cottage door, Pinkie smiled that smile of hers, Fluttershy smiled back.
“That was a funny movie and a very nice dinner, you didn’t have to spend so many bits Pinkie,” said Fluttershy, “but thank you.”
“It was the least I could do after embarrassing you at Twilight’s this morning.” Replied Pinkie, actually blushing.
“I wasn’t embarrassed, I was just caught off guard.” Fluttershy’s expression changed to slightly confused. “Was that all the kiss was? Just a joke?
I’d hoped...”
Fluttershy’s face reflected hurt as she looked at the ground and scratched at the dirt. Pinkie saw it and knew she needed to make sure Fluttershy didn’t have the wrong idea.
“No!” said Pinkie, if possible blushing even more. Pinkie reached out with her hoof and raised the shy Pegasus’ face to look at her. “I really wanted to try it for a long time now...
With you...
I’ve never been in the situation that I thought I could. I said it was fun, and I meant it. Not fun in a silly, game playing way, fun in a deep moving feeling way. Just how good of a kisser you are surprised me.”
Fluttershy smiled that little smile of hers. She was slightly embarrassed at the praise and couldn’t quite look into Pinkie’s eyes.
“Well it’s late and I guess I should be going,” continued Pinkie.
“Princess Celestia only just lowered the sun, surely you have time to stay and have a drink,” asked Fluttershy, “don’t you?”
“I’d like that,” said Pinkie, her smile expanding, hoping she was reading her friend correctly.
The two friends went inside. Fluttershy suggested that Pinkie have a seat on the couch while she went to retrieve the wine. As she left the room, Fluttershy extinguished most of the lights, there were enough left on to make it cozy. All of Fluttershy’s animal friends were asleep in their places. Even Angel was softly snoring in his little basket/bed.
The Pegasus returned with a bottle of wine and two glasses. Pinkie recognized the wine as some Twilight would bring her friends from time to time. It was a very special wine from Celestia’s own private stock. Alicorns have a higher tolerance of alcohol than the other ponies have, so they prefer a wine with a higher alcohol content.
The two sat and sipped the excellent wine and talked about minor things. They were discussing some of the times they’d had before Twilight came into their lives.
Pinkie noticed the wine was helping Fluttershy to be more outgoing and not hold back as usual, she was downright chatty. Pinkie had also noticed that Fluttershy had, when getting the wine, took the occasion to apply a light amount of perfume. Pinkie smiled hoping where this might be going.
Fluttershy would reach out and rest her hoof on Pinkie’s hind leg or shoulder when she would talk, her hind hoof brushing up against Pinkie’s as well. Pinkie was aware of the contact and she felt a thrill at every touch of Fluttershy.
But after the bottle was empty, Fluttershy got very quiet again.
“What’s wrong Fluttershy?” asked Pinkie, noticing the change.
“Shy-Shy,” responded the yellow Pegasus, “you used to call me Shy-Shy, remember?”
“I remember,” said Pinkie, “but I never knew you actually liked the nick-name.”
“It’s not so much that,” said Fluttershy, reaching out and taking Pinkie’s hoof, “it was something only you called me, that made it special.”
“Well, you’ve always been special,” said Pinkie, “to me.”
Pinkie wasn’t sure why she was suddenly feeling uncomfortable. The wine was breaking down barriers which kept Pinkie from saying and doing things she’d never have said or done in public...
If there were any.
Pinkie looked down at Fluttershy’s hoof and then into the big turquoise eyes of her longtime friend. Pinkie saw something she’d never seen in Fluttershy’s eyes before.
Pinkie thought at that moment she’d never seen a more beautiful mare ever…
Sorry about that Rarity.
Pinkie and Fluttershy held their gaze for a moment, both thinking of the happening at the castle. They were starting to suspect there’d been more to it than they wanted to admit at the time. Perhaps an excuse to act on something they’d secretly, secret even from themselves, hoped for.
Then as if drawn by the gravity of the other pony, they slowly closed the distance between their muzzles and were soon exploring each other’s tongue. There was no hurry, and there was nopony around to interrupt them.
Fluttershy let go of Pinkie’s hoof and put her forelegs around her pink friend. Pinkie did the same, they drew each other close. Fluttershy’s wings embraced Pinkie as well.
They kissed like this for some time, how long didn’t matter. Both found a great pleasure they’d never expected to find with their longtime friend. The warmth of the pony they were holding was the greatest feeling ever. Then they broke the kiss and held each other close.

“It’s no difference whose hoof does it.” Said Pinkie, “and it’s natural to wonder about such things and even experiment.”
Pinkie didn’t believe herself, she was starting to sound like Twilight!
“Does this mean I’m no longer a virgin?” asked Fluttershy.

Pinkie was sharper than most ponies gave her credit. In fact, Rainbow once commented to AJ that Pinkie might actually be the smartest of the group. Yes, Twilight was the brain and perhaps had more book learning than anypony in Equestria other than the Princesses. But Pinkie saw things from a different angle than anypony else. Very little deceived the pink Earth Pony. The way she reasoned things out was beyond most ponies, but Pinkie’s ‘Pinkie logic’ was 99.999% accurate, even in predicting the future.
Pinkie understood exactly what Fluttershy was asking, she wanted to experience sex; ‘all the way’ sex, with a pony she’d feel safe with and one that she trusted.
Pinkie had no problem with that.
“I think I’d really like that, Shy-Shy,” whispered Pinkie, kissing the yellow Pegasus’ neck. “What’d you have in mind?”

Fluttershy got up and walked to the stair and went up.

From the reflection in the mirror, Pinkie saw Fluttershy smile as she looked at the reflection of Pinkie over her shoulder. The yellow Pegasus spread her wings and flew to the bed, embracing Pinkie as she knocked Pinkie to her back. The two kissed like this for a while.
“Good morning sleepy,” said Fluttershy in a voice of pure innocence. “I didn’t know you’d sleep so late. I’ve already been up to feed the chickens and my little forest friends. I told them about us and they’re all excited, except for Harry. I think he wants to meet you to make sure you’re good enough for me. He can get a bit protective.”
Pinkie had a look of shock. Meeting the parents for their approval was one thing, but to get the approval of a bear! Pinkie shuddered thinking what might happen if he didn’t approve. Fluttershy giggled at Pinkie’s reaction. But now the way she felt for Fluttershy, she could face a bear.
Pinkie looked at Fluttershy and winked.
“I don’t know what may’ve made me so tired.” said Pinkie, both mares giggled again, “but it looks as if I might have to start being an early riser.”
Fluttershy caught the hint, she hugged Pinkie even tighter.
“Are you saying you’d want to stay with me?” asked Fluttershy.
“I think it’s something we’ll talk about,” said Pinkie, giving Fluttershy a quick kiss. “I now know I love you Shy-Shy. Maybe I have for some time and not admitted it. I guess that’s why I had wanted to try to kiss you to begin with. And if I love you then I’d want to be around you as much as I can.”
“I’ve wanted you to kiss me for some time as well. And I love you,” said Fluttershy. “And I’d love to be with you too!”
The two kissed some more. Then there was a voice from downstairs.
“Fluttershy?” said the voice, “are you home?”
Fluttershy had a stunned look on her face.
“I forgot Rainbow Dash was coming over with Tank to have his nails trimmed this morning,” said Fluttershy. She was still embracing Pinkie and lying on top of her. “Do you want me to go down so she doesn’t see you.”
Pinkie smiled:
“I’ve got a better idea. Tell her to come up here.”
Fluttershy smiled remembering what Rainbow had told them about being surprised finding Lyra and Twilight kissing outside the castle. And remembering the blue Pegasus’ reaction to Rarity and Applejack kissing, she quickly got under the covers with Pinkie, but still on top of her new found love.
“Upstairs, Dashie,” called out Fluttershy smiling.
As soon as they heard hooves on the stair, Fluttershy and Pinkie pulled close and resumed the passionate kissing.

Pinkie and Fluttershy (still embracing) broke the kiss and looked at Rainbow Dash.
“Good morning Dashie,” said the two together.
“I thought you said yesterday morning there wasn’t anything between you two!” said Rainbow confused.
“There isn’t anything between us,” said Pinkie with a smirk. “I doubt you could put a hoof between us right now.”
Pinkie and Fluttershy giggled again. Fluttershy gave Pinkie a quick kiss and rubbed her lower abdomen against Pinkie’s, Rainbow didn’t miss it. Pinkie felt Fluttershy’s large pony breasts against hers, if not careful, Rainbow would get more than just an eyeful.

“I think I might have to stay just a bit longer,” said Pinkie, “at least until after you get Tank’s nails trimmed.”
“You’d better,” said Fluttershy smiling, “or I might have to use the rod again.”
“Yes Mistress Shy-Shy,” said Pinkie giving Fluttershy a most hungry and passionate kiss.
Fluttershy got out of the bed and headed to the stair.
“Shy-Shy,” said Pinkie.
“Yes,” said Fluttershy pausing.

CHAPTER SEVEN: Adjusting To New Lives
The next weeks went by uneventful. Twilight and Lyra’s joy continued to increase as did their love. Their friends, both Twilight’s and Lyra’s, were by often. It turned out that the Cutie Mark Crusaders were good friends with Melody, so the castle was often filled with visiting friends and joyful children.
Applejack wasn’t seen without Rarity, and the group of friends were so happy when they found out about Fluttershy and Pinkie.
After a few weeks of testing their relationship, they all got together to help Pinkie move in with Fluttershy. That is, after Pinkie and Fluttershy had a meeting with a large brown bear. To Pinkie’s delight and relief, Harry approved and even gave Pinkie a substantial hug.
Although a couple of the friends were curious about the amount of ropes and straps in Fluttershy’s bedroom along with some black clothing and a wicked looking black flexible rod.
Rainbow couldn’t stop laughing after they’d left, remembering Pinkie calling Fluttershy; Mistress Shy-Shy . I’ll just have to ‘accidently’ fly past Flutters’ window one night, she thought to herself.
The three couples had to make sure that Rainbow didn’t feel like a fifth wheel or the odd pony out. And all the friends tried their best to include their unattached friend in outings.
With the ‘dig season’ many months away, Lyra would regularly work on some research paper to be published and Twilight was there to help with any research she could do. In fact, Twilight started helping with the research so much that the name;

This thrilled Twilight to no end.
It was about six months later, Spike was returning from the Crystal Empire where he’d spent the better part of a year assisting Cadence and Shining Armor to renovate the library system. Spike was so well trained in library work, he didn’t need supervision from Twilight, and this made him so proud.
They’d been receiving messages from Twilight that often cryptically referred to;
‘The greatest thing that’s ever happened to me’ .
They were assured that the surprise was going to be worth the wait.
Finally, the day came for Spike to go home, he was pleased that Shining Armor and Cadence were going to go with him for a visit. They too were anxious to know what this event was.
When Spike, Cadence and Shining Armor arrived at the castle, they went looking for Twilight. Naturally they went into the library first. As they entered the library, they were in time to witness Lyra creep up behind Twilight, spin her around and plant a deep kiss on her lover. She was wont to do this a lot, her ‘surprise kiss attack’ as Lyra called it.
They broke the kiss when they heard ponies enter. The trio at the door were standing there dumbfounded.
Twilight, still in Lyra’s embrace, smiled a most innocent smile and said;
“Hi guys, what’s new?”
Cadence started squealing like a little filly. Then she rushed to the two mares and embraced them, her strength was greater than either mare expected. She just stood there holding Lyra and Twilight; bouncing, laughing and crying at the same time.
“What’s going on?” asked Melody hearing the ruckus and coming down the stair.
“Who’s that?” asked Cadence excitedly.
“My daughter, Melody,” said Lyra.
If possible, Cadence smiled even more, tears of joy flowed. A blue aura appeared around the filly and she levitated to Cadence. She released Twilight and Lyra and embraced the filly.
“You’re just so precious!” said Cadence crying. “I could eat you up!”
“Are you another princess,” asked Melody in awe, noticing that Cadence was an Alicorn and was wearing a tiara. The filly would’ve never believed that another real-life princess would be in her home (she now considered the castle as such) and hugging her.
“Yes Sweetie,” said Cadence, “but I’m also Twilight’s sister-in-law and I was her foalsitter when she was younger than you. So I’d really like it if you just called me Cadence or Aunt Cadence.”
Shining and Spike had entered the room and were talking to Twilight. Spike was also excited to have a young pony around. Though technically younger, because of their species development, the dragon was eager to be a big brother. Afterward, he and Melody hit it off great.
After dinner and the ‘kids’ had gone to bed, they sat around and talked. Cadence and Shining had to know every detail of the romance up to this point. How Lyra and Twilight shared classes in school, and was an academic just like Twilight and even had a doctorate in Paleohippology. Also the two had had secret crushes on the other for years.
Shining mentioned that he did remember Twilight saying something about a Lyra when she was in school.
“Two brains in love!” said Cadence snickering.
“We love each other’s brain,” said Twilight, “but we’re pretty taken with the bodies they’re attached to too!”
“You better believe it,” said Lyra leaning over and giving Twilight a kiss.
Then Shining thought of something.
“Excuse me,” said the stallion, “but are you the Dr. Heartstrings, the Paleohippologist with connections to the Cryptozoology community?”
Cadence shot a puzzled look at her husband.
“In fact,” said Lyra, “I am.”
“Honey,” said Shining to his wife, “she’s the pony I mentioned when we found that book in the library while doing the renovation.”

Twilight and Lyra froze, looking intently at Shining.
“There’s an actual book about humans in your library?” asked Lyra.
“Actually, we found an entire section,” said Cadence.
Lyra looked faint, Twilight held her hoof.
“These books appeared to be of very ancient origin. They were in a language that was close to Pony, but not quite. With a little diligence, you’re able to understand what it was saying. One of the books even had old illustrations, it appeared that the surroundings looked like the areas north of the Crystal Empire, without snow and ice. There was a picture of a human with a pony,” said Cadence.
“Not a pony,” said Shining, “a horse.”
“But the race of horses don’t live that far north,” said Twilight, “they live in and around the deserts of Saddle Arabia.”
“It wasn’t just the horse, it was also what the horse was wearing,” said Shining.
“What was he wearing?” asked Lyra.
“What appeared to be a saddle and bridle with bit and reins.” Said Cadence, “they appeared to be made for somepony or something to ride on him, perhaps the human. That’s the strangest part, it appeared that this is normal for this animal . I say animal not as an insult, but it appears that the poor creature was a throwback to ancient equines, or perhaps was an ancient equine, including no cutie mark, externally visible genitalia, and he also appeared to have been gelded.”
Lyra and Twilight gasped, Shining Armor cringed.
“Something that’d be right up your alley, Dr. Heartstrings,” said Shining Armor.
“Lyra, please!” said the green Unicorn with a smile and reaching out and taking Twilight’s hoof. “Twilight’s partner, remember. Hopefully the same as family.
We’re having our six-month anniversary party this weekend. And after that, we’re going to go to Canterlot to talk to Princesses Celestia and Luna, Twilight wants to introduce me. After that, perhaps I can talk to the Paleohippology Department at Canterlot Natural History Museum.”
“Better yet,” said Cadence. “After meeting with Aunt Celestia and Luna. We can go to the Crystal Empire. Our Natural History Museum is about a thousand years out of date.
Perhaps if you’d come there and check it out, we could see if there’s any validity to this or if it is just old fairy-pony stories and forgeries.
On the outside chance it’s real, we could convince our Natural History Museum to fund an expedition. Even if it was something true only in the past, perhaps evidence could be discovered and brought back for study and display.
We’d convince them just how big of a coup this would be for them and get them back on the level with the other Natural History Museums in Equestria.”
“But these are scientist,” said Twilight, “do you think that they’d fund an expedition for bragging rights?”
Lyra chuckled.
“Twilight, Sweetheart,” said Lyra, “you’re used to pure academics. Research for research sake, usually between the pages of a book and on the blackboard. Museums go in for research that’s more ‘active’. Think ‘Daring Do’, the bigger the find the more ponies come to see the exhibit, that means the more bits that come in.
You asked if they’d fund an expedition for bragging rights. The answer is ‘in a heartbeat’!”
Being it was only Tuesday, Cadence and Shining Armor took a side trip to Canterlot to check in with the Princesses. They promised not to say anything about Twilight and Lyra’s relationship. Plus Shining was going to drop in on the Museum of Natural History and see if there was any credible evidence of humans in their archives, as discretely as possible.
They promised they’d be back for the party.

CHAPTER EIGHT: A Pleasant Surprise
Lyra and Twilight enlisted Pinkie Pie to plan a big party for their six-month anniversary.
Twilight had big plans for this celebration, but she wasn’t sure how Lyra would receive it. Anytime Twilight got pensive about her plan, Lyra would notice and ask ‘what’s wrong?’ But Twilight would reply that it was just a passing thing and Lyra had no reason to worry. Then Twilight would kiss her lover with all her soul, Twilight was thinking how great it’d be if Lyra received the surprise positively.
However, Twilight noticed times when Lyra was quiet and to herself, but Twilight knew that when a pony is reflective then it’s best to give them space.
Finally the day arrived, the party wasn’t too wild because Melody, the CMC and several of the children of their friends were there like Muffins’ daughter Dinky, another good friend of Melody.
It was let known beforehoof that presents weren’t necessary, never the less, there were some, especially from their closest friends.
Some were simply good wishes items like a gift certificate to the Chez Pony and a promise of foal sitting from Bonbon.
There were other more practical gifts such as a set of bath towels marked Mare’s, Mare’s and Filly’s from Applejack.
Then there were some slightly naughty gifts such as lacy negligees for the couple, but Rarity feigned embarrassment when it was noticed that there were only the tops!
“Oh dear!” said the white Unicorn, “now however did that happen?”
Plenty of laughs followed that.
There were even some gifts for Melody, including a Cutie Mark Crusader cape and a hoof written certificate for her membership.
Twilight and Lyra thanked everypony for their good wishes and their friendship.
Then Twilight spoke up.
“Everypony! If it’s okay with all of you, I’ve one last gift for the mare I now couldn’t live without!”
“So do I,” said Lyra with a smile.
“Go ahead, My Love,” said Twilight.
“No, you go,” said Lyra.
This went back and forth for a minute or two until finally Rainbow shouted;
“Oh for pony sake! Do it at the same time, we ain’t got all night!”
Everypony laughed.
Twilight and Lyra nodded. Then they took a deep breath, their horns glowed, and there in front of both mares, surrounded by the other’s aura were diamond rings.
“Will you marry me,” the two said in unison.
Neither had had any idea what the other had been planning.
Dead silence from all gathered.
Twilight and Lyra looked at the ring in front of themselves and then at each other. It was a tie which pony was smiling harder.
“Yes!” they shouted together, the rings vanished and appeared on Lyra’s horn and Twilight’s left wing.
They hugged and kissed perhaps deeper than they’d ever kissed in public.
The cheers were deafening. The loudest were from Shining, Cadence and Bonbon!
“What does that mean?” asked Melody to Sweetie Belle who was starting to cry (she was as much a romantic as her sister).
“It means that you’re going to have a new mom,” said Sweetie Belle.
“My mommy isn’t going to be my mommy anymore?” asked Melody suddenly afraid. Tears were starting to form.
“No silly,” said Apple Bloom, “Twilight is gonna be yer second mom.”
Melody’s face lit up and she ran up to her mother and Twilight.
“Miss Twilight,” said the filly, “are you going to be my mommy too?”
“Only if you want me to be,” said Twilight.
“I’m gonna to have two moms!’ shouted the little blue filly.
The three hugged in front of the gather friends, the cheer was almost deafening, but all the three could hear was their hearts beating like base drums. They were really going to be a family!
The rest of the party was to die for, so much joy being expressed.
All their friends were already making wedding plans, but Twilight asked them to hold off on planning until she and Lyra could talk it over.
That night after Spike and melody had went to bed. Both Twilight and Lyra were worn out from the party and decided that with them getting married, there’d be plenty of time for sex later. They kissed and held each other as they drifted off to sleep.
Several hours later, Twilight thought she heard crying. She thought perhaps Melody was having a bad dream. As she opened her eyes, she noticed Lyra was on the far side of the bed with her back to Twilight. Twilight realized the crying was coming from Lyra.
Twilight turned and placed a hoof on her fiancée’s shoulder, Lyra jumped from the surprise but didn’t pull away.
“What’s wrong My Love,” said Twilight.
Lyra cried harder.
“What’s the matter Honey?” asked Twilight, “are you having second thoughts about us getting married?”
“No,” sobbed Lyra, “but you will and it frightens me!”
“What makes you say that?”
“I may’ve given Melody’s father reason to think I might’ve wanted him to have sex with me,” said Lyra. “You’re going to think I’m a liar and therefore you could never trust me!”
“Why do you say that?” asked Twilight.
Lyra turned and faced Twilight, she still didn’t move any closer to her lover, and she still had tears falling. Even in the low light, Twilight could see fear on her lover’s beautiful face.
“It was a couple of days before he raped me,” explained Lyra.

Lyra was taking a rare break at the chow tent, she was sipping some strong coffee and eating some crackers and cheese. She was thinking about a particularly interesting formation that looked promising.

“What’s wrong with you?” asked the Unicorn stallion.
“What’re you talking about?” Lyra asked. “Not that I’m any concern of yours!”
The Stallion looked her over with unwanted interest.
“Here I am, strong, healthy and if you don’t mind me saying, a very good looking stallion.” Said the intruder, “I’m ready to make your most intimate dreams come true. And yet you keep saying no, when I know your body is saying yes.”
Lyra was disgusted by the way the stallion was looking at her. He reached out a hoof and rested it on a hoof Lyra had on the table. Lyra violently jerked her hoof away. He only smirked and chuckled at her distress.
“My body is no concern of yours and it only says yes to mares,” said Lyra with a voice that dripped disdain. “I don’t think you qualify.”
The stallion leaned forward to close for Lyra’s comfort. He rested his chin on his hoof. The look in his eyes sickened and frightened her.
“You’ve just never had the right stallion,” he bragged. “I’m sure I can change your mind, You’ll be begging for more.”
‘Why is it some stallions think that all a mare-lover needs is the right penis to change their sexual orientation?’ thought Lyra with loathing.
Lyra laughed in his face because she didn’t want to show that she just got a very bad feeling about this.

“As far as we are from the rest of civilization,” he replied smugly, “we might as well be the only ponies left on earth.”

CHAPTER NINE: A Search For What Doesn’t Exist
Twilight woke up warm and happy. She was used to it by now but it didn’t detract from the wonder of having a wonderful mare in her life. As she opened her eyes, she saw the top of her lover’s head. The engagement ring shining at the base of Lyra’s horn.
The love in her heart was without bound. Never had Twilight ever dreamed she’d settle down and marry. Now it was the only thing her heart desired. And with a pony her intellectual equal! Plus add the addition of a soon to be stepdaughter. Could life get any better?
Now they were about to go to Canterlot to meet with the Princesses so they could get the good news and meet with the loves of her life.
Twilight was sure that her parents would be happy as well. Twilight knew they were happy for Shining and herself and what their lives had become. But she also knew they were slightly disappointed that she didn’t appeared to have any interest in any relationships that would produce foals, so the prospects with Twilight were slim. So for now, Shining and Cadence were their only hope.
Twilight had invited her friends to accompany them to Canterlot. Especially since, they planned to go on to the Crystal Empire after to do research on the human books there. It might be a while before they came back to Ponyville.
“Sweetheart? What’re you grinning about?” said Lyra.
Twilight hadn’t realized Lyra was awake.
“I was thinking of us,” said Twilight, giving Lyra a kiss, “and how some beautiful and intelligent mare has made my life complete.”
“Oh,” said Lyra with that smirk of hers, “do I know her?”
“Do I know her ?” said Twilight sarcastically, Lyra just giggled, “if we didn’t have a train to catch...”
“We do have a train to catch, but we can do that later,” said Lyra kissing Twilight.
“You bet we will!” said Twilight getting out of the bed. “But for now, we need to make sure everything’s packed, Melody hasn’t forgotten anything and Spike has enough to keep him comfortable until our friends come back and Fluttershy and Pinkie help to watch the castle.”
“I bet you’ve already made out a check list,” said Lyra getting up and making the bed with her magic.
“You know me too well,” said Twilight giving Lyra a kiss.
“Honey,” said Lyra with a chuckle, “every pony in Ponyville knows about you.”
The two laughed as Twilight went to make breakfast and Lyra went to wake up Melody and Spike.
At the train station, Lyra, Twilight and Melody were met by Twilight’s five friends along with Bonbon and Minuette who was a friend to Lyra and Twilight from her school days. Lyra explained that Bonbon and Minuette wanted to go because they always saw her off when she went on excursions or to the field.
As always, most ponies packed lightly, but Rarity always packed as if she was going on an around the world cruise.
Oddly enough, Rainbow was quite excited to be going.
Twilight was starting to smell a rat; and Fluttershy hadn’t brought any of her animal friends with her.
She was even more suspicious so when her parents, Shining and Cadence were there to meet the group at the station.
The most amusing thing was when Melody was presented to Night Light and Twilight Velvet (Twilight and Shining’s parents). You would’ve thought the two older ponies had never seen a filly before!
Melody was as astonished as well. Bonbon and Lyra had no living parents and Lyra had no desire to make any contact with the family of the evil sperm donor who fathered the child. Therefore, Melody had grown up without grandparents. Now here were two ponies eager to fill the role with her.
Twilight had talked with Lyra about how or if she’d explained Melody’s father to the filly. Lyra said there was one day, not long after Melody had started the first grade, her daughter said, as a class activity, they had to give a small talk about their parents and what they did for a living. But she was unable to answer any questions about her father.
Lyra told Twilight she’d known that day would come. Lyra had hoped Melody would’ve been a few years older when the time came, but there was no way to put it off, and Lyra wanted to be perfectly honest with her child. But how do you explain rape and unplanned pregnancy to a first grader?

Lyra had her daughter sit down, she said they needed to talk. Bonbon was there with her to give moral support.
“Honey,” said Lyra, “what have they said about sex in your classes?”
“Miss Cheerilee said for now, all we needed to know was it takes a mommy and a daddy to make a baby,” said the filly.
“That’s right,” said Lyra, slightly disappointed the talk at school wasn’t deeper. Plus it meant another embarrassing talk to come later. But she went forward never the less.

“Like robbers?” said Melody.
“Yes Honey,” said Lyra, pleased that her child was sharp enough to catch on at such a young age. “Like robbers, but there are other things they can do to another pony which are worse.
I said that a mommy and daddy share their bodies in an act of love that can make the baby, this act of sharing their bodies is what we call sex. And if done for the right reasons, it’s very pleasurable.
However, there are ponies out there who only want the pleasure and they force themselves on another pony against their will. What can be an act of love becomes an act of violence.
And it too can produce a child.”

“Yes Honey,” said Lyra, a tear rolling down her cheek. “Mommy was raped.”
“So what happened to the pony who raped you?”
“He went to jail,” said Lyra bracing herself, not sure how her daughter would take the rest of it, “he was a very bad pony who didn’t believe what he did was wrong. So instead of letting them put him in prison, he killed himself.”
“What was my father’s name?”
“Honey, just because he made me pregnant, that doesn’t make him a father. A father is somepony who loves and cares for the family.
Your Aunt Bonbon is more of a father than that pony ever was or could’ve been.
I know this sounds weird,” said the mother, “but I swore to never ever say his name. He was evil and I want nothing to remind me of his evil, or how he hurt me.”
“If that’s the way you feel, then you never wanted me, because I remind you of him,” said Melody sadly starting to cry.
Lyra grabbed up her daughter and hugged her tightly.
“No Honey,” said Lyra crying, “no! Just because you weren’t planned and because some evil pony forced himself on me, it doesn’t mean you weren’t wanted.
Aunt Bonbon and I decided when we found out that I was pregnant you would be the only good thing to come out of the violence.
Yes, mommy wishes she was never raped. But I also know I wouldn’t want to be without my very special daughter.
You’re the Melody that my heart dances to. I love you more than anything, and I want you to believe that.”
“I believe you mommy, and I love you too.”
The two held each other crying, Bonbon joined the hug.
From then on, Melody had no doubts whether she was wanted or loved. And there were no more questions about a father.

Back in the present...
Twilight Velvet and Night Light were hugging Melody unmercifully, much to the delight of Lyra, Bonbon and Melody herself.
“Mom, dad,” said Twilight with a smile, “let the filly breathe! I know you’re excited, and I can assure you she is too.”
“Honey,” said Twilight Velvet, “you can’t blame us. This filly is a dream come true for us.”
“I know what you mean about dreams coming true.” Said Twilight the younger, “I guess I should introduce you to who you’re hugging. This beautiful little filly is Melody.”
The older ponies kissed her on the forehead.
“Welcome Sweetie,” said Twilight Velvet.
Melody could hardly stand it, real grandparents!
Then Twilight took Lyra’s hoof and brought her close.
“And this equally beautiful mare is Melody’s mother and my fiancée, Lyra Heartstrings.” Said Twilight, then motioning to her parents, “this is Twilight Velvet and Night Light, Shining’s and my parents.”
“A pleasure to finally get to meet you,” said Lyra extending a hoof.
“Sorry,” said Night Light with a smile, “that won’t do, we’re huggers!”
With that Night Light and Twilight Velvet hugged Lyra. Lyra hadn’t felt such warmth from older ponies in so very long.
“Mom, dad,” said Twilight continuing the introductions, “this is Sweetie Drops, Lyra’s sister.”
“Please call me Bonbon,” said Bonbon giving the two a small hug.
“And this is Minuette,” said Twilight, “a close friend from our days at school.”
“A pleasure,” said the blue Unicorn, giving a small hug to Twilight’s parents as well, “my friends call me Mini.”
“And of course you remember my friends,” said Twilight, “Pinkie Pie and her marefriend Fluttershy, Applejack and her marefriend Rarity. And what pony could forget Rainbow Dash?”
“So good to see you all again,” said Night Light.
“Gee,” said Twilight Velvet, “there’re two couples among them now? And you with Lyra, you’ve all been busy!”
“But I can’t for the life of me, understand why somepony hasn’t snatched up Rainbow Dash,” said Night Light.
“I wonder about that too,” said Rainbow laughing. But a pony could tell that there was some truth to what she was saying.
“It’s alright,” said Minuette walking close to Rainbow, “you can hang out with Bonbon and me, if you think you can keep up!”
“I love a challenge!” said Rainbow in her normal bravado.
“Aunts Celestia and Luna have obligations this afternoon and evening,” said Cadence, “but I’ve arranged rooms at the castle for your friends. We can have a nice meal together and then they can retire there while Twilight, Lyra, Melody, Shining and I will spend the night at the Sparkle home.
Then tomorrow, aunts Celestia and Luna have blocked off time just for all of us, so we don’t have to rush or be disturbed.”
