King Sombra needed his name to live on. He uses his powers to create a filly, he finds out it's going to be impossible for him to take care of the tiny stallion. He calls upon the help of a willing young mare who gladly takes the filly under her wing. But he gets more attention then he bargened for when his father is a unicorn and his mother is a pegesus, usually he would be either a unicorn or a pegesus but he is a alicorn, which brings up lots questions surrounding him and Flurry Heart being born alicorns.

When he grows older he is invited by the Princesses to the Crystal Empire, there he is questioned and tested. As they are running tests he unleashes his dark power by accident causing havoc and a unexpected visit from the King himself.
