Chapter 1
Load Full Story“Monsters aren’t born- They’re made.”
That quote is a good way to start off the story. Now, let me make this clear- When we talk about monsters, we aren’t talking about the boogeyman, chupacabras, or even the creatures of Grimm. When we talk about monsters, we mean Humans- More specifically, human mentality.
This quote holds true in all situations, even the ones that have to do with colorful ponies in a colorful world. No monster can be born, but depending on how their life is lived, they can snap from Human to Monster in a fraction of a second. It’s the same thing with heroes. When someone is brought into the world, they are in a dull, grey area. When they go through their life, the decisions that they make, and their mentality or philosophy is what makes them who they are. But that brings us to an interesting question- What if someone stays in the grey area? The answer is simple- They get forced onto the side that wants them most. Even though it’s outside of their jurisdiction, they will get shoved onto one of the sides, because the grey gap is too small to hold them in.
"You've got spirit, Red, but this is the real world!" The sky was dark, as creatures of Grimm soared through the air in hopes of engorging on the innocent citizens of Remnent. The fear of the citizens heightened their senses, making them only hungrier. "The real world is COLD!!" Along with the Grimm, members of the terrorist Organization known as the White Fang struck fear into the hearts of the innocent civilians- human and Faunus alike. In a way, they were in a partnership with the Grimm. "The real world doesn't CARE ABOUT SPIRIT!!" As long as the innocent people were full of fear, the White Fang wouldn't have to get their hands too dirty. After all, the Grimm would do all of the dirty work for them. "You want to be a hero?! Then play the part AND DIE LIKE EVER HUNTSMAN IN HISTORY!!" Shouted Roman Torchwick, the criminal mastermind who was fighting his arch nemesis- Ruby Rose- atop a hijacked airship. Normally, she could miraculously defeat him in a display of luck and bravado, but this time, luck wasn't on her side. "As for me, I'll do what I do best!" Ruby was now on the ground, her head was beating inside from all the times that Roman hit her with his cane. She could barely pick up what he was saying. "Lie," he began. Ruby could see her end now. After she'd die at Torchwick's hand, Griffons would pick at her decaying flesh. Envisioning it made the thoughts all the more horrifying. "Steal," Torchwick was happy. He could finally have his happy ending with Neo, now that Red would be out of the way. "CHEAT" his voice had gotten louder, as his hands emphasized how serious he was about killing the girl. He lifted his cane up, and prepared to deliver the finishing blow. "AND SURVI-" he began, before he was cut off by darkness surrounding him. Quickly, he was lifted off of the ground and went down. He suddenly realized it before everything went black- he was eaten.
Darkness hailed over the skies of Equestria, no light piercing through the black curtain surrounding the celestial sphere. The alicorn known as Nightmare Moon stood at the top of her old castle, looking to the horizon. Six ponies were heading her way, and they would soon stop her if she didn’t do anything about them.
“Are you grateful for everything that I have gifted you?” A cold voice said from behind, causing Nightmare Moon to shiver. It was as if she could feel the voice pierce her hide.
“Yes ma’am. I owe you everything for doing this, and setting me free 100 years early.” She turned around and bowed her head in a sign of respect. A dark figure with blood-red eyes looked down on her. Her plan was coming into action, and it would be a dastardly plan at that. She knew for a fact that soon, Nightmare Moon would be no more.
“My final order for you is to kill those wretched ponies who will try to save Equestria. There will also be one of my kind joining them- bring him to me alive.” Nightmare Moon lifted her head and looked the witch in her cold, dead eyes. Another of her kind? Did that mean another witch? Regardless, she acknowledged the witch’s orders. After that, her body that was made of darkness disappeared into the shadows. Nightmare Moon looked back at the horizon. She continued to think about the incoming ponies when she suddenly felt a surge of power. This must’ve been the being the dark witch was talking about. Another of her kind.
Darkness. Everything looked dark to Roman. He felt that he had his eyes open, yet he couldn’t see a thing. Maybe his muscles were lying to him. Maybe he didn't exist anymore. He looked down, only to see his shirt plain as day. He could also see Melodic Cudgel floating around as if they were on the broken moon of Remnant. Suddenly, he heard 3 voices speak simultaneously.
“A broken role.” They were all female. He looked around, noticing 3 dim lights in the distance. One was green, one yellow, and one white. “A broken heart.” As the lights got closer, their voices got louder. He tried to speak, but failed to. He could breathe, but his voice was not heard. When the lights came in closely, he could see that they were shaped like 3 women. They all gathered around him, touching all over his limp body. Suddenly, the yellow and white lights seized his arms, and the green one grabbed his head. Simultaneously, they yelled out their final line before power seized him. “A broken soul, healed by a new life!” Suddenly, a bright light flashed in his eyes, and he felt as if he was falling. After exactly ten seconds, he felt his body hit the ground as if he’d fallen from a ladder. He sat up and groaned, opening his emerald eyes. He looked around to see that he was surrounded by trees and shrubbery. Looking around, he saw that Melodic Cudgel was next to him. Reaching to grab his weapon and stand up, he heard a low growl coming from his surroundings. He stood up to see that green eyes stared at him. Figures then walked out of the shrubbery, only to see that they were Grimm made of timber. Reaching for a cigar from his pocket, he said his first line of dialogue while in this strange new world.
“You cannot be serious!”
