The Unexpected Part 1

It was now almost 5 o'clock, and everypony was due to arrive any minute. Twilight was in her room mentally preparing for the upcoming revealing of her predicament. She had told Spike to wait in the library proper and let in everypony that was supposed to be there at that time. She was using an illusion spell to make her wings disappear until she was ready to unveil her news to her friends and family.

There was a knock on the front door, alerting Spike that somepony has arrived. He opened the door to reveal the rest of the main six; Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash. "Hey guys, come on in. Twilight's upstairs getting ready, and instructed me to tell you to wait here." he said, before remembering something. "Rainbow, she told me to tell you to go to her room when you arrived."

"Alright," came Rainbow's reply as she went to her friends room. She knocked on the door and said, "Twilight, it's me, Rainbow, can I come in?"

"Sure thing Rainbow," came Twilight's reply as she opened the door with her magic.

"How you holding up Twi'?" Rainbow asked in a gentle tone.

"Just thinking about what I'm going to say, and how they're going to react when they see me as I am." Twilight said.

****Meanwhile in the library proper****

Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie were confused when they heard that only Rainbow could go see Twilight. There was an uncomfortable silence until Rarity spoke up first. "Spike, why is only Rainbow allowed to go see Twilight and we're not?"

Spike sighed knowing this question was coming, "Because Rainbow already knows what's wrong with Twilight."

Rarity wasn't all that pleased with Spike's answer. "How does she know what's wrong with Twilight? We are her closest friends, we deserve the right to know what's wrong with our friend." Rarity said in an unpleasant tone that made Spike flinch.

"the reason you don't know is because this could change the face of Equestria forever. And to answer your question, Rainbow already knows because she caused it to happen." he said as a flash of bright light and the front door opening caught his attention.

"Spike, what do mean by, Rainbow Dash caused this incident to happen?" Celestia asked with a serious tone in her voice, while staring daggers at him.

He looked around the room looking for a way out of the situation he had just dug himself in. He was about to explain what Twilight had wanted him to say when Rainbow and her came down the stairs. Twilight froze when she saw everypony staring at her with a look saying, 'What is the meaning of this emergency?'

She sighed knowing she had to get it over with as soon as possible. "I will explain everything in just a moment, but first I would like for you to take a seat as you are going to need it." After everypony had found  a place to sit she decided to start from the beginning. "As you know princess, Shining Armor asked to look up a spell to help with gathering information from our neighboring countries without being noticed."

"I do remember this. Please, carry on," Princess Celestia said in a kind tone.

Looking around the room getting a nod from everypony, she reluctantly proceeded. "Anyway, as I was just about to practice the spell, Rainbow came flying through my window and crashed into me right when I was casting the spell."

Everypony looked at Rainbow who looked to the floor with disappointment in her eyes. "Sorry Twi'. I really didn't mean to crash into you."

"It's okay Rainbow. As I was saying she crashed into when I was casting the spell causing it to backfire," Twilight said as she dropped the illusion spell hiding her wings. "Turning me into the alicorn you see before you."

Everypony in the room except for Spike and Rainbow Dash went slack jawed when the spell was dropped. Princess Luna was the first to recover from the shock of the situation that just unfolded before her eyes. "Sister, what do we do now with Twilight being an alicorn?"

Princess Celestia shook her head to recover from what she had just heard and witnessed. "The first thing we need to do is not panic. The second thing is I need you to help her with her new-found abilities, alright Luna." she said in a clear calm voice.

"Understood sister, but where do we go while I help her with her new training?" princess Luna asked.

Celestia thought about that for a moment before stating her decision. "You will stay here in Ponyville with Twilight teaching her everything she needs to know. When I feel her training is done, both of you will return to the castle where Twilight will take control of the stars and you the moon. Am I understood?"

"I understand sister, but what about my royal duties back at the castle?" Princess Luna asked.

"You will still raise the moon from here, and as for your duties, I will take care of them." Princess Celestia said as she got up ready to leave. "Oh, I almost forgot. When Luna and Twilight return to the castle, the rest of the Elements of Harmony may choose to come be her royal adviser's for when she becomes a princess."
