An Amethyst Heist

Amethyst Bolt wandered through the clearing of the everfree forest, it seemed so peaceful and tranquil despite it's reputation for being completely notorious. For some odd reason he felt safer in the forest than out in ponyville, he thought it might be to do with his special talent which was Thievery and all things associated with it. From busting safes to finding hidden objects, he discovered he had a knack for it when he was only a filly. In fact he busted his first safe shortly after he started Junior Flight school to get bits to spend on snack food. But as the years progressed he began to want more for less, picking pockets and conning even the most disbelieving of ponies.

But it still bored him, he wanted an adventure. A thrill, some kind of dangerous mission that required such skills as his and if he could drag others down with him.... well... the more the merrier!

He had finally got through the clearing to the small hut which he lived in, it was suspended above the forest floor and was covered in leaves from the trees. Although he was pretty much exposed in Autumn and Winter, Summer and Spring meant he could hide without being noticed by anypony. Suddenly he felt dizzy, the clearing and hut spinning around him.

"I need you" a voice echoed through his head saying only that and suddenly everything went black.

Slowly but surely he opened his eyes, the last thing Amethyst remembered was being in the middle of the everfree forest looking for adventure. Which he guessed he had now, seen as he was in the middle of a seemingly ancient castle. To be more specific the castle courtyard, around him were the walls and in front of him the portcullis. Upon further examination there was a single tower above the entrance to the actual castle, and upon that tower was a balcony upon which stood an armoured pony. The armour however was not shining or silver at all instead it was rusted, worn and completely black

“Welcome” Began the pony “You are to follow my orders without resistance” Amethyst began to contemplate resistance but decided against it, who knows what kind of traps could be in this courtyard?

“And if I don’t?” Inquired Amethyst cautiously

“I have a device implanted inside of you, which if activated will explode leading you to an untimely demise” the ponies voice showed no emotion “I will now tell you why I have  chosen you to assist me” Amethyst was confused, assist? With what exactly

“Inside of the castle is a hidden room containing treasure beyond anyponies wildest dreams from gold to ancient tomes and countless scraps of knowledge. However I cannot leave this tower, I triggered a trap which caused the doors to lock with a magic seal. I can however, call other ponies to try and help, like you Amethyst. And I needed a Pegasus to complete the team. But anyway, your task is simple, assemble the team, which consists of 3 other ponies, 2 Unicorns and one Earth Pony. The Earth pony being called ‘Twisted Sprocket’ and his special talent being that of engineering, the 2 unicorns are relatives ‘Ruby Roulette’ and ‘Sapphire Solitaire’. Ruby’s special talent is deceit and Sapphire’s is lock picking.

However they all have other talents besides the one they excel in, and all of you have the ability to fight extraordinarily well. And then when you’ve assembled everypony, and only then I want you to enter the castle and obtain the treasure. You do that, I will allow you to leave. In fact, I’ll let all of you leave; you only have to complete that simple task and nothing more... so... are you in?” Asked the pony, Amethyst thought for a moment. And then grinned

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world”

Meanwhile in the gardens of the castle sat Ruby Roulette and Sapphire Solitaire both discussing the appearance of the newest team member

"I've heard he's a pegasus" Stated Ruby

"Well obviously, there needs to be a Pegasus, Earth Pony and Unicorn. But because we, as unicorns, are the most helpful and useful type of pony..." Boasted Sapphire, oblivious to the fact that Twisted Sprocket had just appeared behind them. Ominously silent as he always was

"Oh, hello Sprocket" Said Ruby, Sprocket glanced at the Unicorns and simply nodded before turning away and walking in the opposite direction

"Why does he never speak, it's not like we don't allow him to" Resumed Sapphire, the sound of hooves on the cracked stone slabs echoed around the gardens as Amethyst arrived. Ruby and Sapphire both turned their heads to examine the new team member

"Purple mane and coat..." muttered Ruby "May I ask if your name by any chance has the word "Amethyst" in it?"

"It does" Replied Amethyst "And I guess you two are Ruby Roulette and Sapphire Solitaire, because you are unicorns and you do have manes and you are the same colour as your names suggest"

"We are" Replied Sapphire

"So where is Twisted Sprocket?" Asked Amethyst, uninterested in anything besides the names of the two unicorns. Ruby simply just nodded towards Sprocket, who was sat at the edge of the garden watching them "Well then... let's perform this heist and get out of here"

The 4 of them lined up outside the rusted metal doors of the castle as they slowly creaked open sending a wave of dust out towards them

"What are you waiting for?" Demanded Amethyst, wandering towards the open doors "We have a heist to pull off"

So I hope to be writing more of this, though not as frequent as my other fic because I found writing this a tad of a challenge, but I still want to write more because I have so many ideas, I hope to be releasing this mainly on weekends and weekdays when I get spare time.
