Chapters Author's Note
This takes place in the Aurora Universe. https://www.fimfiction.net/story/339464/princess-aurora
Dash has Auroras magical abilities, is still fighting her depression and this is a TwiDash story. AGAIN!
I like the idea of ponies licking instead of kissing. If you don't like it, just pretend it says 'kiss' instead of 'lick'. It makes no difference.
And before anyone asks: YES. IT IS ONCE AGAIN ABOUT MY STUPID LIFE....
Chapter 1
Their anniversary was only a month away. It's the anniversary of being together for one whole year. Twilight and Dash were laying on their bed, preening each other's wings.
"Time sure flies by, huh?"
"Well I know a certain Pegasus that flies faster than time." Twilight said and gave Dash a quick lick on the cheek.
"Bleh!" They turned around to see Spike gagging. They giggled.
"Really Spike? It's almost an entire year and you're still not used to it?"
"Well you don't exactly have to do it right in front of me."
"You're just jealous because Rarity and you still aren't a thing." Dash teased.
"Am not!" His face burned up.
"You're forgetting that I can read you like a book."
Twilight smiled at Dashs statement.
"Don't forget who got you into reading."
"Yeah, like I'd ever forget my little bookworm."
"Little? I think you're talking about yourself, Dashie." Twi teased.
"Hey!"
"Hey she's right. Even I am taller than you." Spike joined in.
"Urgh! Guys! Two against one is not fair!"
Twilight wrapped her arms around the Pegasus and gave her another lick on the cheek.
"Relax, we were just teasing you."
"You're lucky you're cute."
"Urgh I'm outta here." He left the two lovebirds alone, who just smiled and went back to preening each other's wings.
And then tomorrow came.
It was rare that Dash was awake before Twilight. This time she woke up by something weird.
The bed felt so cold and.. soggy? She frowned. It was too wet for just sweating, and it wasn't even That hot. And her heat cycle just ended last week.
She rolled over, tossed and turned, trying to ignore the feeling.
She gave up and got up. She tried to be as silent as possible and checked the bed.
You've gotta be kidding me , she thought as she realized what it was. She quickly put away the sheets and put them into the laundry. She went back to get fresh sheets and put them on the bed.
She didn't want anyone to know about this. She's had phases like this randomly in her whole life. Sometimes it got worse, and then it was a long time where nothing happened.
But her pride was too strong to ever tell anyone. It was just way too embarrassing.
She went back to bed, snuggling up to Twilight.
The light crept through the curtains and burned into her eyes. She turned over, tried to hide under the sheets.
Groaning, she sat up, rubbing her eyes. She always hated these days where she woke up in the middle of the night, just because her bodily functions had issues from time to time. A good nights sleep was something she didn't know even existed at those times.
"Hey sleepyhead."
"Morning twi.. how long have you been awake?"
"A few hours. You slept like a rock, I was getting worried when you would wake up."
She wanted to respond to her marefriends teasing but remembered what happened last night.
First things first..
"I'm gonna take a shower.."
Twilight, being used to accompany her every time, followed her into the bathroom.
"..alone." She gave her a stern look, vanished behind the door and locked it.
Twilight was confused. Dash always loved it when she was showering or bathing with her. Dash hated water more than anything in the world, but she didn't mind getting wet so much when she was with Twilight.
"Are you sure?" Twilight called from outside.
"Yeah, I'll come down in a few."
Twilight was still confused but gave the Pegasus her privacy and went down.
In reality, Dash only didn't want Twilight with her because she had to try something. She needed to test how bad it currently was...
...and warm water was the worst trigger.
She filled the tub with hot water to the height of her ankles. She then stopped it and sat down. She always hated the feeling of water touching her skin. And especially at her private parts.
The situation made her a bit impatient, but to her luck, and misfortune, she didn't have to wait long until the first drops forced their way out of her body. She tried with all her strength to stop it. All she got was a sharp pain and lost the battle.
This is bad...
It just kept on flowing as she tried in vain to stop it. She bit her lip as anxiety filled her.
Two years without an accident and now, short before they had their anniversary, she just Had to get another bad phase. She hated herself for having to be a burden to her beloved marefriend.
She turned the water on from the shower to make it look like she had showered and let the water leave down the drain.
"I hope she's in the mood for pancakes."
"Oh you know her, she always is."
Dash came down the stairs.
"Hey guys."
"Heh, morning Dash." Spike tried not to laugh at how silly the Pegasus looked. She had tried to dry her wings with a towel. Now she looked worse than birds in mating season.
"Oh Dash! You know that the towel always ruffles your feathers." Twilight giggled.
Dash rolled her eyes.
Twilight came to her, walking gracefully like a cat around Dash.
"One more reason why you should let me take care of your wings." She winked at her.
"Fine. But after breakfast, I'm starving."
Twilight nodded. They went to the table and Spike brought plates with pancakes for each. Twilight wanted to cheer Dash up, still feeling like she did something wrong that made her lover want to shower alone. She levitated a bottle of non-alcoholic cider over to Dash and filled her glass.
Dash grinned.
"Whoa Twi, what's the occasion?"
She gratefully took it and took a nice long sip.
"I just want you to know how much I love my little Dashie."
Dash put the glass down. "Are you kidding? Like I could Ever forget that."
"Or me." Spike snapped.
Dash shrugged and Twilight giggled.
After they finished breakfast the lovebirds sat on the sofa, Twilight preening the beautiful wings of her marefriend.
Feather for feather.
Every single one.
Dash was impatient given her condition. It seemed like hours had passed and Twilight wasn't even halfway done with the first wing. She was becoming more and more antsy as time went on, and Twilight noticed.
Normally the Pegasus melted away when Twilight preened her wings. Sometimes she even got so relaxed that she fell asleep. Now she couldn't hold still for twenty seconds. Always twitched or moved a bit. The princess on the pea.
Around the time when Twilight was almost finished with the first wing, Dash jumped and pressed her hind legs together.
Why did you have to give me cider of all things when I'm like this?! She screamed in her mind and went to jump off the sofa, but the alicorn held her down.
"Dash, what's the matter with you today?" The Pegasus struggled to get free but soon realized that if she kept doing this she wouldn't make it in time.
"Let go! I gotta go!"
Twilight seemed to have gotten the message and let the Pegasus free. Dash stormed off the second she could.
Twilight was confused again. This never troubled her in the slightest. Not even when she drank a bottle of cider. And she often drank more than one or two. Something was off, and Twilight wanted to know what it was.
The next night was the same as the last one.
"Damnit..!" She whispered to herself as she sat up.
"Dash?"
"Twi? Why are you awake?"
"I could ask you the same thing." She said in a serious, yet questioning tone.
"Couldn't sleep." She lied.
"Rainbow, what's going on? You're acting really strange lately. Are you coming down with something?"
Dash didn't answer. She didn't want to.
"Rainbow, please, talk to me..." She crawled over to the Pegasus...
"Huh?" The alicorn stated when she noticed somethin odd.....
...and she put the pieces together.
"Dash..? You.."
The Pegasus stormed off before she could finish. She had locked herself in the bathroom again.
Twilight went to the door.
"Rainbow! Please come out!"
No answer.
"Rainbow, you know how much I hate it when you lock yourself in the bathroom when you're upset! Open the door!"
Then she heard a cabinet close...
"Rainbow!!! Don't you Dare!!! Open this door or I'll teleport inside!!!"
Still no reaction. Twilight had enough. Her horn glowed and she vanished, then appeared next to the Pegasus. She grabbed Dash in her magic, preventing her from cutting with a blade.
"Rainbow!! I told you No Cutting! Talk to me instead of on your skin!"
Dash sighed. Twilight grabbed the blade in her magic and levitated it back into the cabinet.
"Will you talk to me about what's been going on?" She asked with a soft voice.
Dash nodded, ears flat and eyes closed.
Twilight released her from the magical hold.
"So..?" She pushed.
"I..." The words died in her throat and she looked away.
"Rainbow please.. I can see that somethings been bugging you all day."
Dash said nothing.
"Would it be easier to write it down?"
Dash shook her head.
"I'll show you..."
She grabbed the sheets she'd stashed last night and gave them to the alicorn. Twilight took them in her magic in the air to get a full glance at it, and noticed what Dash had meant. She put them into the washer, she'd take care of that in the morning.
"Same happened again..." Said Dash lamely.
Twilight hugged her. Dash buried her head into the alicorns chest.
"Oh Rainbow.."
They stayed like that for a moment that felt like forever. Then they broke apart.
"Look.. it's really not a big deal. Some ponies still wet the bed at night. And I know how stressed you've been lately.."
Dash shook her head.
"There's more to it, isn't there?"
Dash looked away.
She didn't want to tell her. It was too hard to say something so embarrassing..
She looked at the shower and got an idea.
She turned the water on and let it fill the tub a bit like last time. Twilight gave her a confused glance.
"Come here, but don't get in. I'll... show you."
Twilight was a bit confused by all of this but stepped nearer.
Dash stopped the water and sat down, closing her eyes and ears flat.
"What are you doing?"
Dash shook her head. "You'll see.."
A few more seconds passed and Twilight saw how Dash completely tensed up and silently hissed in pain.
The Pegasus stood up, not daring to open her eyes and look at the alicorn.
Twilight saw what was happening, but she didn't understand entirely.
"Rainbow, why-"
"I can't."
"Can't what?"
Dash opened her eyes and looked Twilight in hers.
"Stop it..."
"Huh?"
"I can't.. can't stop.. it.."
Twilight started to understand.
"You mean, you can't.. control it?"
Dash shook her head.
"Since when? You never had problems like this."
"Happens randomly, really. It's been like that my entire life.."
"Rainbow... why'd you never tell anyone?"
Dash sighed. "It's not exactly cool, you know. And it's downright embarrassing... and, I guess, I was afraid of being made fun of because of it..." She hung her head.
"You know I would Never make fun of you! And neither would our friends."
"I know.. I just.. It didn't happen for some time so I never needed to bring it up..."
"And now that you do, you tried to hide it."
Dash nodded and looked down in shame.
"Look.. it's still night. Let's get you dry, fresh sheets and we talk about this in the morning."
Dash nodded and stepped out off the tub.
When they woke up, the sun was already shining. Twilight wanted to get it right out of the way.
"So, about this whole..thing?"
"Alright.. what do you want to know?"
"Well let's start with when this started?"
"When I was a filly, I had a crash and hurt my back. Ever since then I've been having these phases."
"Your back, huh? When you have these 'phases', do you feel different?"
"Well.. I, uh.. I can't feel it when I.. need to go."
"So you can't feel it, and can't control it?"
"Yeah?"
"So basically you're incontinent in those phases."
"Huh.."
"I wanna test something if you don't mind."
Dash was a bit unsure but she knew she could trust Twilight.
"Uh.. sure?"
"Come on, let's go to the bathroom."
"Alright, so, what did you wanna test?"
"I want to see how long you can hold it."
She magic-ed a stopwatch and held it in her magic.
"..why?"
"Better safe than sorry."
Dash shrugged.
"So, what'd you want me to do?"
"Get on the toilet."
Dash complied.
"And now?"
"We wait. And the second you notice something, you tell me."
"Uh..alright?"
Seconds passed.
More seconds passed.
A minute passed.
Another mi-
"Now!"
Twilight pressed the button.
She could see how Dash was straining.
She could also see how it got harder by the second...
...until...
..the first drops fell..
...Dash lost the fight again.
Twilight stopped the time.
"36 seconds..."
Something has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter. They were going on a trip.
With their friends.
That was, so far, everything that Dash knew.
She didn't know where they were going, how long, or what they were going to do. All this not knowing was making the Pegasus antsy.
Great. This trip outside was supposed to keep my mind off of this. And I can't stop worrying about it!
Twilight was leading them all to the train station.
"Where are we going, Twilight? Where are we going?" Pinkie kept asking.
"It's a surprise." The alicorn simply smiled.
They went on a train that would bring them to Canterlot. Dash took place at a window, Twilight sat next to her. On the other side were Applejack and Rarity and behind them were Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy.
Since she didn't get much sleep in the past few nights, Dash curled herself into a ball and slept through the the two hour train ride.
Meanwhile, Twilight had plans of her own. She waited for Dash to snore, then she gave the sleeping Pegasus one last glance.
Sorry Dash. This is for your own good... She thought before she went over to the rest.
"Girls, I have to tell you something..."
Twilight had to wake her marefriend up when the train came to a halt. "Wake up, sleepyhead. We have to get off." She said as she gently nudged the Pegasus.
Dash yawned and stretched herself. Then they all got off.
"So, what exactly are we gonna do?" Applejack asked.
"We are going for a nice boat ride." Twilight beamed.
Dash froze. "A boat ride? You mean, on water?"
"That's what boats are for." Twilight grinned.
You've gotta be kidding me...
"Come on, let's get to the river."
Dash hated water. To her, water was the worst possible enemy. And right now, they were on a boat. Surrounded and carried by water. She started wondering if Twilight was doing this on purpose to torture her.
"Man! All this water is making me have to pee !" Pinkie called and laughed. "Get it? It rhymes!"
Her friends laughed with the pink party pony. Dash, however, did not. The mentioning of that exact topic made her even more nervous, causing her to cross her legs while she leaned back.
Damn it stop being so nervous, that's only making it worse! Dash yelled at herself in her head.
Twilight was right next to the Pegasus and had caught on, of course. She was just hoping that her plan would work...
After being on the boat for half an hour, it was getting late. They all went to the Canterlot Castle. To Dash it seemed like this horror trip just wouldn't end. She just wanted to go home and only come out again after this stupid phase was finally over.
When they finally reached the castle they were awaited by two royal guards. Of course they bowed to Twilight while they greeted her. As much as Twilight hated it to be called by her title, she couldn't get anyone to stop. Besides her friends, of course.
They were all brought to rooms where they would stay for the night. Pinkie Pie and Applejack, Rarity and Fluttershy, and of course the inseparable pair of Twilight and Dash.
"Dinner will be ready in ten minutes." The guards said before they let them go to their rooms.
Dash was the first one to enter the room, threw her saddlebags on the floor and made a mad dash into the bathroom. She had been terribly nervous this whole time, and being back at the castle she so dreaded was certainly not helping.
She closed the door and practically ripped off her 'protection', taking off her necklace before to see it.
If she had the possibility to choose between the 'protection' or using the bathroom like a normal pony, she would always choose the bathroom.
"Dash? Are you alright?" Twilight asked from outside.
After flushing the toilet and washing her hooves, Dash emerged from the bathroom, completely bare like she was used to. "I am now." She grinned like a little filly.
Twilight gave her a stern look. "Dash, you have to wear it."
Dash's smile faded. "Please, just until dinner?"
"Fine. But I'm not letting you go out of this room without the diap-"
"Protection." Dash corrected her.
"Dash I know it's embarrassing for you but it's just a word."
"Still doesn't mean that I have to like it." Dash glared. She dreaded the word 'diaper' as much as this castle. Speaking of which...
"How did you get us to stay here so fast, anyways?"
"I had Spike send a letter to Princess Luna, remember?" Twilight then realized something. "Oh, right. You were pacing around when I wrote and sent it.."
Dash's hurt look made Twilight bite her lip.
"Come on now. We have to get you ready. You'll have to show us where the dining room is."
"Why aren't the guards doing that?"
"Because they know that you've been here before." Twilight said and rolled her eyes.
"Right.." Dash said with no emotion and her gaze fell to the floor.
"Come on. Let's get you ready." Twilight said and guided the Pegasus to the bathroom again.
Twilight was getting her marefriend ready. She knew that this was a lot that she was putting on her marefriend right now, but it was necessary. She was hoping that Dash would learn that she could trust the rest of her friends, by having her needing to trust them. She was also hoping that Dash wouldn't be so mad at her for doing this.
Author's Note
Twilight is evil.
The six ponies went through the halls to the dining room. Princess Luna was already there, waiting for them as she sat on her 'chair', that looked more like a throne.
"It is nice to see you again, Princess Aurora." Luna greeted the Pegasus as she took place.
"Please, I'm Rainbow Dash.."
"We apologize." Luna said. She then noticed that Dash was wearing a new necklace. "We didn't know you had a thing for jewelry." The princess of the night said before her magical aura was around the necklace.
Dash started to panic. "No! Don't!" She shrieked and held the necklace with her hooves, practically holding it in place for dear life.
Princess Luna was the only one confused by this. Dash realized this. "It's.. um.. it means a lot to me, Twi gave it to me."
Luna was able to detect the spell that was casted on the necklace with her magic. She knew what Dash was hiding, but figured that she would just play along.
"We are really happy for you, Lilo." She said with a smile. Dash only groaned at the old nickname.
Her friends, however, were confused. "Lilo?" They asked.
"Urgh. It's just a nickname Lulu gave me when I was little. Li-Lo, Little Loyalty." Dash explained.
Though it cleared one thing up, they were confused again. "Lulu?"
Dash groaned and buried her head in her forelegs while Luna blushed.
"Never mind." Twilight said. "Let's just get to eating."
"Sounds good to me!" Pinkie said, digging in.
After dinner they all went back to their rooms. Almost all of them. Twilight was asked to go with Luna.
"I get why you would give Dash a nickname, but really, Lilo?"
"Compared to our nickname, that is nothing."
"Why? What does Lulu stand for?"
Luna blushed a little. "Well.. when Aurora was a filly, she was completely into flying. But her stunts mostly ended in crashes." Luna chuckled a bit at the memory. "I think there was not one day that she came to me with bruises or other wounds." Her smile faded. "But one injury almost made her quit flying altogether..."
"The one on her back?" Twilight asked, presuming what Luna was getting at.
"You know?"
"Dash told me. She's having one of those 'phases' again, that's why we are here." Twilight explained.
"I am truly sorry, but there is nothing that we can do. We have tried everything we could. Magic can not heal this."
"We didn't come here for healing. I want her to learn that she can trust the rest of our friends with this, the same way she did with me. It was hard to even get her outside.. it's like she just wants to skip on life until the phase is over!"
"We know that very well. The first time we did not know that it could end. Aurora was so embarrassed and ashamed, she wanted to stop flying. You have to understand, Pegasi tend to, ahem, 'lose their water' while flying when they have a weak bladder for example."
Twilight went pale. Imagining the fastest flier alive practically raining through a Sonic Rainboom.
"Exactly." Luna commented.
"But how long was she like that? How long do these phases last?"
"That is a good question. From a few weeks to mere months. That depends. But it always ends the same. And we think it would do her good if you help her."
"Huh? I don't understand. How does it end? How can I help her? You said that spells don't work!"
Luna shook her head. "Not with magic. Let us tell you a story. When Little Loyalty had the first phase, she was completely against any kind of protection. So we tried it with the next stage, potty training. Since Tia only took care of her training to control her magic, it was our responsibility to help her.
But we soon had to figure something out, after the first tries ended in having to clean up. It appears that she is too embarrassed for her own good. Rather wet herself than tell us.
So instead of saying that she needs to go, we came up with a simple code word. That is why we are called 'Lulu'."
"Yeah.. that sound like Dash. So in order to help her through it I have to take her to the bathroom in time?"
Luna nodded.
Dash was laying curled up under the covers on the bed. She just wanted to go home.
Finally the door opened and Twilight came in. "Hey lilo." The alicorn said and laughed.
Dash groaned under the covers. "Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up."
"Why so grumpy?" Twilight asked after jumping on the bed.
The Pegasus stuck her head out and glared at the alicorn. "You're enjoying this, aren't you."
"Come on, I was just teasing you."
"Whatever. I'm going to sleep." The Pegasus said and turned away from the alicorn.
"Are you wearing your protection?" Twilight asked sternly. Dash groaned in response.
"Dash, it's only for your own good. You're always so disappointed in yourself when-"
Dash stopped her from talking by putting her hoof over Twilight's mouth. "Don't. Say it." She glared.
Twilight rolled her eyes and pushed Dash's hoof away. "You're so immature sometimes."
That was it. Dash turned away, got up from the bed and walked out of the room. Twilight quickly went after her.
"Dash, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that."
"I. Am not. A foal." Dash said as she glared at the alicorn with her wings flared in anger.
Twilight was confused for a moment. This was not the first time that Dash had reacted this way. And with this 'phase', it became clear to Twilight that the Pegasus felt insecure and every mentioning of her not being grown up was like a terrible insult.
"I'm sorry. Of course you are not a foal. I didn't mean to hurt you."
Dash seemingly relaxed at the words. She sighed and turned around, then they both went back to their room.
Twilight once again told Dash that wearing her 'protection' was not making her a foal. Only then the Pegasus let Twilight put her in it. After one stressful day, they finally drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Dash was once again greeted by a known feeling. She pressed her eyes tightly closed in annoyance. At least this time they wouldn't have to worry about the bed.
"Morning, sleepyhead." Twilight said in a cheerful voice.
Dash groaned. "Five more.. hours..."
Twilight pulled the blanket away from the Pegasus in a quick move with her horn. Magic sure was useful sometimes.
"Come on, I've already gone to wake up the others and you're still in bed." Twilight said as she went over to the Pegasus. "Besides, if you stay in that for 'five hours' you're only going to get a rash."
That got her attention. Her eyes snapped open and she sat up, which turned out as a stupid idea, and she was disgusted by the weird feeling. In high speed the Pegasus was on the ground and practically teleported into the bathroom, closing the door.
Twilight couldn't help but chuckle. As much as this 'phase' was a bad thing, it got Dash out of bed pretty easy.
Suddenly a knock came from the door. Twilight went over to it and opened it with her magic.
There stood a royal guard. "Your highness, Princess Luna and the rest of your friends are waiting for you and Princess Aurora."
"Oh, um.." Twilight turned to the bathroom door. "Dash, the others are waiting for us!"
"Go ahead, I'll come after in a sec!"
Twilight nodded to herself and went with the guard.
Inside the bathroom, Dash had her own plans. That Twilight got called away was just the perfect opportunity. After having lived for so long in this castle, Dash knew very well when a meal was served.
Smirking to herself she got herself cleaned up and only put on her necklace. "Let's see who the real foal is." She said to herself and trotted with her hind legs kicking high for a few steps. She had felt trapped with that thing on. And if Dash loved one thing, it was her freedom.
"I don't need 'protection'. I can protect myself just fine." She laughed at her own joke.
Filled with confidence, the Pegasus trotted proudly into the dining room.
"Somepony is in a good mood today." Fluttershy observed. Twilight couldn't help but feel that something was off about this.
Her marefriend took place next to her, as usual. Every pony was enjoying their pancakes. Pinkie Pie had hers baked in syrup and cream.
Everything was going just fine. That is, until..
...a certain organ had to ruin everything, again.
Dash tried not to panic. She pressed her legs together and hoped for the best.
Okey. Just stay cool. You can do this. You are not a foal that needs to wear those things. You can hold it like the big pony you are.
Sadly all her confident thoughts were pulverized when she realized that she could not stop herself from leaking.
It was only a little bit, but the rising anxiety made it all worse.
Think fast! There is no way I'm having an accident in front of my friends!!!
Like on auto pilot, her magic was activated and she had a telepathic connection to Luna for one word.
"LULU!!!"
Within a second the two ponies vanished in a flash of dark blue light.
It didn't take long for Twilight to realize what just happened. One glance at the seat next to her and the vanishing of the two told her everything.
She groaned in frustration. "I can't believe her! She can be so stubborn sometimes."
Applejack, sitting on the other side next to the alicorn, laid a hoof on her shoulder. She knew all too well how stubborn the Pegasus could be. Sometimes even more than her.
Inside a room that Dash was very familiar with, she and Luna appeared through a flash of dark blue light. One glance around the room was enough for Dash to realize where they were. It was the exact same room she was brought in every time she had those 'phases'.
The Pegasus whimpered in embarrassment with her eyes shut and ears flat as her bladder won and she wet herself right where she stood. At least it wasn't in front of her friends, but she had a thing against it all together.
Luna didn't say a word. But judging by the small amount of liquid and even shorter time until the unavoidable happened, she came to a conclusion. "Another bad phase?"
Dash only nodded and sniffed.
"We have been over this time and time again, Little Loyalty. There is no point in hiding it when you can not hide it in the first place." Luna lectured.
With a flash of her horn, the mess on the floor was cleaned up. She went over to her and put a hoof on her shoulder. "You know very well that you can not conquer bad phases on your own. You will have to let Twilight be your Lulu from now on."
That got the Pegasus' attention. She opened her eyes to look at the alicorn in front of her for a short moment. Then she shut her eyes again as tears fell down her face.
"Come now. The others must be worried. You are leaving soon." Luna continued. Dash hesitated but nodded.
"She's only hurting herself by being so damn stubborn. It's practically eating away her pride!" Twilight exclaimed. Her friends were giving her sad and sympathized glances.
Another flash and the two ponies were back with them. "Twilight, you might want to speak with her in private." Luna said. They were already done with breakfast, anyways.
Twilight nodded and took Dash with her to their room.
The door closed.
Dash feared for the worst.
"I can't believe you did that." The alicorn started. Dash could feel the anger the alicorn was trying to hide.
"I'm sorry.. I just.." Dash trailed off.
"You just?" Twilight urged her on.
"I'm not a foal!!!" Dash exclaimed and the tears were once again flowing down her face.
Twilight was taken by surprise. Her anger had completely vanished and was replaced by confusion and sympathy. She hugged the Pegasus and stroke her back in a calming matter.
"Of course you aren't a foal.. I never said you were."
Dash only cried into the alicorn's shoulder.
"Having to wear protection has nothing to do with that. In fact a lot of ponies have to deal with this sort of thing. And I am here to help you. You are not alone in this."
Dash calmed down after Twilight said that. She let her get dressed and soon a knock was on their door.
"You guys ready to go? The train ain't waiting." Applejack said from outside.
"We're coming!" Twilight called.
At least we are going home again...
Dash was silent on the entire train ride back home. Twilight was getting worried about her. It was never a good sign if Dash was silent. That meant only one thing: she was thinking. And whenever Dash was thinking... she didn't have good thoughts.
"Rainbow?" Twilight started.
The Pegasus turned to her. Sometimes the alicorn wished she had abilities like her marefriend, just so she could feel how she was feeling and hear her thoughts...
"It's alright. You are not alone in this. I am here for you. Forever." The alicorn said and pulled the Pegasus into a hug.
"Mares and Gentlecolts, we have reached Ponyville Station."
"That's us! We are home!" Pinkie cheered.
Finally..
---Friendship Castle---
Twilight was busy unpacking her bags when suddenly a 'whoosh ' sound was heard, followed by a door being slammed shut. Twilight shook her head. I can't leave her alone for five minutes .
The alicorn got up and went over to the bathroom door. She knocked.
"Dash when you're done, we have to talk." Twilight called with a stern voice. Then she went back to continue unpacking. For a moment she wondered why she took all those things with her. But what made her wonder the most was why she took the checklist with her too.
While Twilight was in thought, her marefriend silently approached her.
"Twi?" The sudden sound of her voice almost startled her to death. "You wanted to talk with me?"
Twilight finally turned to the Pegasus behind her.
"Um, yes. I wanted to talk with you about something Luna told me."
The simple thought of what they could have possibly been talking about made the Pegasus blush.
"Dash, I want you to use me as your Lulu. You can't do this on your own. And I won't just sit and watch, either. I'm going to help you. But you have to do your part, too." Twilight lectured.
Dash sighed. "Yeah.. I know.."
Twilight put her fore legs on the Pegasus shoulders. "We can get through this. Together."
Dash let the words sink in, then she nodded. Determination masked her face.
The two ponies laid on their bed, Twilight was preening Dash's wings again. And for the first time in a long while, the Pegasus seemed to relax a bit. She had been so tense these last few days and had not once used her wings. Which was probably the reason the Pegasus rarely ate anything.
It was a scene the alicorn was all too familiar with by now. All of the sudden, the Pegasus was completely tense again. When Twilight stopped preening and turned her head around, she noticed that the Pegasus was biting her lip nervously.
"Dash, you only have to say the word." Twilight said softly.
The Pegasus sighed. "Lulu..."
Twilight couldn't help but smile. Her horn glowed and with a flash the Pegasus was in the bathroom.
At least Twilight is kind enough to give me privacy. Luna always stayed with me..
Thinking back, Dash shuddered at the thought of being watched. Wasting no time at all, she got rid of her 'protection', which was visible since they had gotten home because she didn't feel the need to hide it from Twilight and Spike.
Twilight found herself writing in her diary.
Rainbows trust is growing, I can feel it. I hate what I had to put her through, but I hope in the end it was worth it. Hopefully she soon just says the word without me having to tell her to.
Twilight smiled. She heard hooves coming and put her things away.
"Ready to continue preening those beautiful wings of yours?" Twilight asked.
"You bet!" Dash said and jumped back on the bed.
Spike was on his way to bed. He opened the door to the bedroom and was met by a sight he really did not want to see.
"Urgh! Seriously you two! Twilight, when do I get my own room?!"
The two ponies on the bed could help but laugh at the dragon.
"You're still not over it? Seriously?" Dash laughed.
Spike groaned, grabbed his pillow and blanket. "I'm sleeping in the living room!" He called angrily and left the room, slamming the door.
Twilight and Dash exchanged glances before Dash burst out in laughing. Twilight only smirked knowingly at her marefriend. She knew that Dash had not meant their relationship, but Spike und Rarity's.
"Come on, we should probably get to sleep." Twilight said.
The next day was gonna be hard for Rainbow.
"Hey Rainbow?" Twilight started.
"Yeah?"
"What do you think about telling our friends?"
"..tell our friends what?"
"Well, about your little problem."
"No way."
"Why not?"
"They would laugh at me!"
"Why would they? None of it is your fault."
"It.. Well.. I..."
"I'll be right by your side. Just like when you told the rest of us about your magic. It's gonna be fine." Twilight reassured.
Dash hesitated. But after a moment, she nodded.
Later that day they had all of their friends over.
"So, did ya finally get her to tell us?" Applejack whispered to Twilight as she walked by. What she didn't know was how amazing Dash's hearing was.
"Yeah. After this whole trip, I think she trusts you guys more now." Twilight answered in the same silent whisper.
"You did that on purpose?!?!" Rainbow suddenly stood right behind the alicorn, her yell almost startling the alicorn to death.
"Well.." Twilight thought for a moment. Lying wouldn't get her anywhere, Dash would know. "Yes. Yes I did. But let me explain."
"You better have a really good reason for torturing me." She glared at the alicorn.
"Alright. The way you reacted when the girls came over after you told me about it, I knew you didn't trust them as much as me. But you really shouldn't keep secrets from your best friends. You know we would never make fun of you for anything."
Dash's glare softened and she looked around into the smiling faces of her friends.
"Twilight has a point, darling. And it would have been an honor if you would have come to me. I would love to design you some outfits that can hide your, um, protection in a stylish way."
Dash looked down at the enchanted necklace around her neck.
"We all love you soooo much, Dashie!!!"
"You mean way too much for us to ever make fun of you. We will always help you wherever we can. If you want us to, that is."
Dash couldn't help but tear up from her friends words. She took the necklace off and threw it on the floor. They all came together in one colorful group hug.
Maybe some secrets don't need to be secrets after all?
This was the day.
The day they were together for one whole year.
The day her whole life took a turn.
A turn for the best that could have possibly happened.
Rainbow Dash smiled when she woke up. Because the first thing she saw was the beautiful sight of her sleeping marefriend.
It's an entire year today, and I still can't believe it. I still can't believe what happened. How it happened. Why it happened. I guess there are some good things in my life after all.
Dash gave the purple alicorn before her face a soft lick on the nose. "Wake up, sleeping beauty. It's a beautiful new day. A special day. And I don't wanna waste even one second of it." She whispered into her ear.
Twilight opened her eyes. She was surprised at the Pegasus' behavior. "You're awfully happy this morning. Did you take your anti depressants again?" She asked curiously.
"Of course I'm happy! And no. I'm happy because I've got you." The Pegasus said, snuggling into the fur of the alicorn. Twilight smiled and wrapped the Pegasus in her wing. Sometimes she felt like she was the mother of the Pegasus. Rainbow acted that way a lot around her. Maybe because she never really had her mother as a 'mother'?
A knock on the door got their attention. The door opened and Spike went inside with breakfast.
"Morning you two. Still in bed? On a day like this?" He asked, placing the plates on the bedside table.
Twilight sat up, leaving the Pegasus to fall back into the bed.
"Just five more.. urgh actually, let's stay like this forever..." Dash mumbled into a pillow. Twilight giggled, Spike crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head.
"I still don't know how in Equestria you fell for her." Spikes statement got Dash an idea. She turned on her back and smirked at the dragon. "At least she didn't fall for Rarity. That way she is still free for you."
Spike grew a massive blush, opened his mouth to answer but couldn't find the words. In the end he only left the two alone, shutting the door.
The two ponies shared a laugh at that.
Twilight got serious when they were done a few moments later. She turned her gaze to the breakfast that Spike had brought them.
"You think you can eat something?" She asked.
Dash hesitated. "I guess i could try..?"
Twilight grinned. "Only a little bit. I don't like how thin you look. Rarity might have to cut your dress if you keep this up." She joked.
"Oh yeah, cuz thats the biggest problem here. There is no way I am thinner than Rarity." Dash joked back, grabbing a slice of toast.
"Alright. We have to be at Sugarcube Corner in ten minutes. You wanna use the bathroom before we leave?"
"I'm fine."
"Are you sure? Because it would be bad if you had an accident on a special day like this."
"But Twilight! I don't even need to- never mind LULU !!!"
Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash entered Sugarcube Corner.
Everything was dark and empty...
"Oh great. Pinkie forgot to plan the par-"
"HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!"
"-.. AWESOME!!!!"
All their friends popped up from about everywhere and the lights switched on, revealing a fully decorated room with tons of streamers and balloons. Many cakes, fruit punch and even cider!
And the grant finally were the dresses that Rarity had made for them.
Life has its ups and downs, but the important thing is to savor the good moments for as long as they last.
Author's Note
Not gonna lie, this story was really embarrassing for me to write.
If it wouldn't help me with some situations in my life, I would never write about it xD
"I still can't believe you got me into this thing." Rainbow stated as she circled on the floor, trying to get a good look at her padded rear. They were back in their bedroom and Dash had locked every door and window from sight and entrance.
"Well, I think it looks rather... adorable ." Twilight giggled.
"Hey! I am Not cute!" Dash snapped.
"I didn't say cute, I said adorable!" Twilight grinned. Dash growled at her.
"Look, I know this is just for protection and all, but can't you, I dunno, make it invisible or something? I don't want to be seen like this!" Dash exclaimed, pointing towards her 'protection'.
Twilight thought for a moment. "Hmm.. I guess I could think of something..."
"Then start thinking! I can't be a wonderbolt like this!" Dash gasped. "I can't let anyone see me like this!"
She jumped and crawled under the covers of the bed. Twilight rolled her eyes.
"Rainbow! Urgh!"
A knock on the door.
"The girls are waiting for you in the hall." Spike said as he peeked inside.
Dashs head perked up from the covers. "The girls are here?"
Twilight smiled sheepishly. "Weeeeell I think this might just be the perfect opportunity for you to tell the rest of us about your-"
She was interrupted by a cyan ball tackling her to the ground.
"YOU DID THIS ON PURPOSE?!?!"
Twilight gave a nervous giggle. "Okey.. I guess I can do that invisibility spell..."
Dash glared at her as she let the alicorn get up again. "Good."
Twilight took a necklace, performed a spell on it and put it around Dashs neck.
"I still can't believe you got me to wear this thing." Dash muttered as she and Twilight walked down the halls to their friends.
"Got you to wear what ?" Pinkie was suddenly in front of them, startling them. Then she saw Dashs necklace. "OOOOOH SHINY NECKLACE CAN I HAVE IT CAN I CAN I CAN I ?!?!"
Dash cringed as Pinkie grabbed it, but Twilight levitated the pink pony away from her. Dash still gave a short glance at her rear to make sure nothing had gotten visible.
"Soooo... you wanted to tell us somethin' sugarcube?" Applejack started. Dash gave a nervous glare at Twilight, who gave Dash a sheepish grin.
Think of something! Fast!
"Well... Twi and me are almost together for a year now.." Dash started, her friends grinning at her.
"Oh darling, we know that already." Rarity waved off with a hoof.
"We wanted to go on a nice trip and thought you might want to join us." Twilight said after she came up with a backup plan.
"We are?" Dash whispered to Twilight. Then realized what the alicorn was doing. "Uh, yeah. So, you guys wanna come?" The Pegasus quickly added.
"'Course we're comin'!" Applejack happily replied.
"Oh, that's a marvelous idea!" Rarity agreed.
Dash only smiled nervously. A trip? When she was like this? This just can't end well...
"Great! Then let's all pack our things and meet here in an hour." Twilight said. Their friends agreed and left to pack their things. Twilight closed the front door and turned around, meeting the glare of her marefriend.
"Are you bucking kidding me?!" Dash shouted and flared her wings.
Twilight froze. "What?" She asked.
"A trip?! A trip?! Any better ideas, egghead?!"
Twilight winced at her nickname being shouted. Was Dash trying to insult her with it?
"Relax. Some time outside the castle will do you some good. You're normally outside all day and now you suddenly lock yourself in the castle. Besides, spending some time with our friends might cheer you up and take your mind off for a while." She smiled.
Dash huffed at her and closed her wings, never turning her glare away from the alicorn.
"Come on now, we have to pack some supplies." Twilight said as she trotted past the mad Pegasus.
"Supplies?" Dash asked as she went after her.
"You didn't think I would let you go outside without protection, did you?" The purple alicorn almost grinned evilly. Dash stopped dead in her tracks.
Moments later, Twilig was tackled to the ground by a cyan ball of feathers.
"Seriously, get a room you two." Spike grumbled as he walked by.
It were fifteen minutes until their friends would come and Dash was pacing around in circles.
"Dash, calm down. It will be fun, I promise." Twilight tried to reassure the nervous Pegasus.
"Calm down? Calm down?! How do you expect me to-" the Pegasus cut herself off when she felt herself starting to leak into her invisible protection. Twilight noticed the pale look on her face.
"Rainbow? You okay?" She carefully asked. Dash was frozen in shock and blushed furiously as her misbehaving bladder simply cut loose.
Twilight walked over to her. Dash finally broke out off the shock and glanced down at the necklace, then took it off with her hoof, her ears flat as she turned her head to avoid Twilights gaze. It didn't take long for the alicorn to notice what was wrong and laid a hoof on Dash's shoulder.
"Come on, let's get you cleaned up before the girls are coming." The alicorn said in a soft voice as she smiled at the Pegasus.
It didn't take long for the two ponies to get ready. The others soon entered the castle and searched for them.
"Twi? Dash? Where are ya?" Applejack called.
Twilight emerged from the bathroom while Dash put the necklace around her neck again.
"We are here! Are you guys ready to go?" Twilight said. They all checked that they had their saddlebags on.
"Isn't little Spikey-Wikey coming with us?" Rarity asked.
The dragon in question leaned on a wall. "Nah. I think those two love birds need some time without me." He said, giving an annoyed glance at the pair. Their friends giggled.
"Are you sure it isn't the other way around?" Twilight smirked as Spike looked away.
"So, where are we going?" Pinkie asked, bouncing excited around.
"You'll see. Come on, let's go." Twilight said and lead them outside. Dash was walking next to Twilight but with every step she got more and more nervous about this. She didn't know what Twilight had planned.
And Twilight had planned quite some things.
