Callsign: Fox, and Rooster

John stepped into the briefing room, and dropped his bag full of gear on the table. It made a loud thud, he took his body armor out first. John stared at the three diamonds sown into the shoulder. He teared up a little then choked them back, as he brought his foldable Ak-47 out. He set it carefully on the glass table. He heard the door behind him click open, and it was the young stallion from last night. The stallion blushed.

"Are you my partner?" The stallion asked.

John replied.

"I guess so."

John, and the stallion stared each other down until their superior marched in.

" Gentlemen, your assignment...." He paused.

                   Chief looked at the two.

" You two done, because we have two other agents who can do it."

John, and the stallion looked at each other.

" We'll be fine." the stallion stated putting his hand on John's shoulder.

                    John slapped his hand off.

" I don't even know who your are to begin with."

The stallion bowed and introduced himself.

" I'm SkirinFirespace."

"I'm John." He growled as he stuck out his hand.

Skirin ignored his hand as the chief explained Skirin's importance here. They both blocked out the talking, and focused on each other. The hate can be felt off one another as they mindlessly stared each other down. They both nodded agreeing with whatever the chief said.

The truck ride to Canterlot was mildly enjoyable, it was only mildly enjoyable because of Skirin's insane amount of talking.

John was pleased when the rest of the mercenaries told him to shut up. He did so, out fear he was going to be beat up in the locker room back at base. A radio filled the silent space. The mare on the radio was broadcasting the charity event where the mercenaries were going to be stationed. The radio flicked off, and somebody turned on the individual radio used to communicate with each other. Thunderlane spoke now.

"I think Rooster should lead us out."

John put his hand on his face, and sighed at his callsign.

"Why do you want me to lead out first?" John replied squinting.

"Well?" Thunderlane said quietly. "Because your a cold hearted son of a bitch."

                       John chuckled and replied.

"That's the reason."

Skirin looked at the two laughing beside him, wondering what they found funny. The driver looked back quickly.

"Welcome to the capital of Equestria." He chuckled afterwards.

Skirin looked out the window to see towering buildings, and he seen many different food stalls. Skirin then sat back into his seat itching to get out. John seen his impatience, and smiled a little bit. John then broke this new silence.

"Did you guys hear who the new dispatcher was?"

Everyone looked puzzled for a moment, then a stallion in the back said.

"Its Octavia."

                      John smiled and asked.

"You boys know what that means?"

All of them shook their heads, and stared at the light green stallion.

"She's probably going to ask anyone if they want private performance done." John laughed.

Some of the mercenaries laughed, but not Skirin. John noticed this as well, and he asked.

"Hey Skirin, do you have anyone back home?"

Now every stallion and mare in the Armored truck stared at the dark blue, and midnight purple stallion. Skirin blushed a little.

"Well..." He started. "I don't, but I'm in love with one."

Most of the mercenaries let out snickers, but not john. John had way to much respect, despite not liking this stallion. He gave a small smile.

"Who is it?" John asked.

Skirin blushed again, and said quietly.

"Twilight Sparkle."

John's face went from smiling to a very serious face. Before John could respond to the answer, Octavia's voice came on the radio.

"This is it boys, and girls. Get ready to depart."

John looked to the back of the truck to see the door open. The sun blinded all forms of vision that way. The guns for hire went out the back, and jumped to the ground. John went first followed by Thunderlane, Skirin, and then the rest of them. John, and Skirin peered around to see their surroundings. They heard, smell, and almost tasted the city. Now they all formed into two rows, and then they were split up to different  parts of the castle grounds, and parts of the city. John started to shake from excitement. This was John's ultimate adrenaline high. John was that war mongering person, that's why he was dishonorably discharged from the princesses army. John stood there remembering what lead him here.

He could hear the screams from the battle before his discharge. The sounds of guns rung in his head, as he had smashed in the heads of the fallen enemies.

"John! John!" Skirin yelled in his ear.

John snapped out of his daydream state.

"Yes, where to?"

Skirin pointed south towards the train station. John nodded, and started walking with his gear. Skirin followed close behind him, not wanting to startle him. He felt a little bit of uncomfortable being around him. John looked toward a very suspicious looking stallion going into the Saddle Arabian embassy. The stallion was now followed by at least ten more stallions dressed the same as him. John whispered to his unfortunate partner.

"Did you see them?"

He only nodded. He pressed a button on the side of his mask to radio this in.

"Hey Octavia, we have possible hostile targets entering the embassy."

                      Octavia responded.

"Ok confirmed. They are tagged."

Static now was the only sound. Skirin removed his finger from the button, and onto the trigger of his gun. He started the run over to the building, until John stopped him.

"What the hell are you doing!?" John yelled silently.

                       Skirin looked embarrassed now.

"I'm moving to eliminate a threat."

John shook his head, and said calmly.

"Those stallions are here for the charity event."

                     He sighed back.

"Ok, ok what 'ever you say."

John then let out a huff of displeasure, and walked on. They reached the train station, and reported in.

"Octavia, this is Rooster. No signs of any strange activity." John said sternly.

                   She replied instantly.

"Ok."

John couldn't help, but coo at her British accent. Skirin noticed this, and laughed.

"Man you are into her?"

                   John replied.

"No, I'm not." He denied.

Skirin shrugged, and continued to walk on until a loud boom rang through the air. Then after that the two heard the sound of enemy soldiers shouting in the distance, followed by gunfire.
