Meadville Pennsylvania

Early October, the sun has already started to set on a small highway, the rush of cars whooshes past. Richard Labonte had just recently finished his shift and was heading back home when an alert popped on his GPS.

“Warning accident reported ahead!” Said the GPS in a female monotone voice.

“So much for getting home on time,” Richard grumbled as he looked further through the windshield.

He was able to see flashing lights from emergency vehicles ahead and traffic was already slowing to a crawl. Not wanting to spend another hour on the road Richard reached up and pushed the detour option on his GPS. After a few seconds, it rerouted and gave him another way home.

To took a few minutes to exit the highway. “Turn right and then turn left onto service road 4,” The GPS said giving out directions.

Without much thought, Richard followed the directions and started to head down the side road. He looked over to his left looking at the flashing red and blue lights from a police car. It looked like a pickup truck flipped on its side and someone was being extracted by EMS onto a stretcher. Richard glanced once more in his rearview mirror and then returned his focus on the road ahead.

There was a flash of bright purple that caught Richard’s attention startling him. “Re.. re.. Rerouting,” The GPS said as the screen flickered. He looked to the right trying to see where the light came from but it was already gone like a flash of lightning.

Strange, I don’t remember a thunderstorm in the forecast tonight. He thought and then glanced up at the clear sky.

“At the next stop, turn right ,” GPS said as is screen flicker. He reached up and tapped on the GPS and the screen stopped flickering.

Richard turned onto the gravel road and drove on following the GPS directions. This road seemed to run between two large corn fields and there was a lack of street lights. Only the red glow in the western sky as the sun disappeared into the night. The radio was playing classical music as the minutes while driving. Richard looked again at the GPS wonder if it was sending him in the right direction. He reached up to check the directions when all of a sudden something large and white stepped out into the middle of the road.

“AHHh SHIT!!!!” He yelled out and instinctively grabbed the steering wheel with both hands and slammed down hard on the brake pedal. Time seemed to slow down as the adrenaline kick in.

All four wheels locked up and skidded along the gravel. There was a flash of blue light and then the feeling of something pushing against the front of the vehicle slowing it. Richard squinted because the light was very intense and then there was a dull thump and the light quickly blinked out like the flash of a camera. This all happened less than a second but seemed much longer to him.

Richard's heart was beating fast and loud in his ears. His knuckles were white gripping the top of the steering wheel. He looked left and then to the right, but was not able to see anything outside. Richard put the gear selector into park and turned on his 4-way flashers, he then turned off the radio. Slowly opening the door on the SUV he stepped out. The steady sound of the engine and the chirping of crickets outside filled the air. The gravel crunched under his shoes as he walked to the front of the SUV.

“Wonderful…” He said under his breath, noticing that part of the bumper was pushed in and the left front turning signal reflector was busted. But somehow the light bulb inside it survived. There may be more damage, but it was too dark outside to see much.

Did I hit a deer, maybe a small cow? Richard thought and started to look around. What he found in the left ditch behind his SUV was not a deer or a cow.

“Small horse or maybe a pony?” He said to himself trying to see more but it was getting dark. “That’s strange its muzzle is too short and purple hair?” Richard said to himself scratching his head trying to make sense of it. Looking closer he noticed that it was still breathing.

He walked back to his SUV where the lighting was better and took out his cell phone. Richard tried to call a local vet, but the office was closed for the night. He then tried another number, but the lines were busy.

Richard paced back and forth for a few minutes and then decided to mark the place on his GPS and then try to call again when he got back home. Walking back to the creature in the ditch he kneeled down and placed his hand on its chest.

“If you are in pain, I am sorry, I am no vet, but as soon as I get home, I will call for someone to get you,” He said not sure if talking to it would help, but it made him feel better.

Richard started walking back to his SUV and then heard a weak woman’s voice coming from behind him.

“Please help me, I 'm lost, I…” The voice pleaded.

He quickly turned around just in time to see two large blue eyes and a horn on its head. The white pony stumbled to its left and passed out falling onto its side, landing on the gravel.

“It talked?, You talked? Hey, can you hear me?” Richard said in a loud voice as he ran back.

He grabbed the muzzle and gently stroked its face, but the creature was not responding. After a few minutes, he gently laid her down and walked to the back of his vehicle.

This is crazy Richard, this better not be a mistake that you’ll regret. He thought to himself and opened the rear door and then folded the rear seats down. Reaching down, he slowly lifted the pony creature. She was heavy and he struggled to load her into the back of his SUV, grabbing her tail he pushed it inside just before the door closed. Richard climbed back into the driver's seat and then looked behind, noticing the horn on her head again.

“I hit a talking unicorn, oh my god,” He said closing the door and then put the SUV into drive and headed home.

Twilight's castle in Equestria

The mirror room is full of sparkling purple smoke. Twilight was busy trying to fan away the smoke with her wings while she coughed.

"Did everyone make it?" Twilight yelled out and started to see the outline of her friends.

"I'm over here Twilight," Applejack said and stepped forward now visible.

"Blah! This does not taste like cotton candy," Pinkie Pie said, trying to clean the sparkles from her tongue.

"Rarity? Where is Rarity?" Fluttershy asked as she flapped her wing, helping to clear the smoke.

"She was right behind us," Applejack said and stepped on a piece of broken glass.

"The Cristal Mirror!" Twilight said with a gasp.

She looked around and saw broken pieces of the mirror everywhere and it's frame split in half.

"Twilight where is Rarity?" Applejack asked, looking worried.

"I don't know," Twilight said and looking at the broken frame wonder what to do next.
