Sweet Fluttering Hearts

One fine summer day in Equestria, a winged filly was brought forth into the world. She was an odd-looking foal.

Her coat was yellow like the sun, but her right ear and her muzzle were a light gray like stone. The filly’s eyes were mismatched… not derpy-looking like the mailmare’s, but one iris was turquoise while the other was a chestnut brown. And her short mane and tail were pale pink like cherry blossoms with a dark brown stripe of hair.

The filly’s parents didn’t care if their foal looked a bit odd. All that mattered was that the little miracle was healthy. The butter yellow mare looked at the filly in her hooves and beamed. Her lover, a light gray mare, stroked the baby’s cheek with a gentle hoof. The gray mare was the first to speak.

“So, Fluttershy, what will we name her?”

“Um… I don’t know,” Fluttershy replied, “what do you think, Shattered Heart?” She kissed the foal’s forehead.

Shattered Heart adjusted her piercings and cooed, “She looks like both of us combined, so why not combine our names in a way?”

"Um, how about Hearts Aflutter?"

The filly cooed softly and sucked on her tiny hoof.

"Shy, that's beautiful," Shattered replied, grinning at the baby.
