Chapter 1: Through The Ring

(Cue Egg Carrier A Song That Keeps Us on the Move - Sonic Adventure Music Extended)

It had been three months since Hyper Sonic had destroyed the Death Egg and returned the Master Emerald. The notorious Doctor Eggman, a scientist sporting a round body wearing a red and yellow jacket and black pants, was in his secret hideout, the remains of the Death Egg crashed onto the backside of the mountain. In his lair, Eggman was watching recorded footage of his past battles with his nemesis. Every fight ended in a loss for the doctor, and he was getting sick of it.

"Why must that horrid little hedgehog always get in my way?! Every time I launch my attacks, he's always there to stop me, along with his pathetic sidekick!" Eggman ranted. "They've stopped me in my own fortress, on a lost island, and even in space! There must be some way to make my empire a reality without them stopping me! Clearly destroying them isn't the best option. I need something else to back it up. If only I took over a place they didn't care for." Eggman turned his attention to the fallen "meteorite" that he acquired the night before. "Yes, that's it! In order to make my empire, I'll have to invade another world! It surely wouldn't be a concern for him if I took control of a world he didn't care for! But before I do this, I'll need to make sure the world I go to does not contain anything capable of fighting back." Grabbing his "meteorite", Eggman entered his testing chamber, where he through the object down on the ground. It floated momentarily before expanding in size and soon became a giant golden warp ring. While there were many other warp rings in this world, the one the doctor had was special. It was at least twice the size of the others and had a visible view of the other side, revealing what looked like a small town full of multi colored ponies in the distance. "Ugh, this display makes me shudder even more than the time I first saw that meddlesome hedgehog." the doctor cringed. "I don't think those two would mind if i just left their world alone, and instead took this one. I don't think that even they would want to save a world full of pastel colored ponies. Now that I have my location, I can put this new plan into action!"

"Not gonna happen Eggman!" a voice called out. Turning to look out a giant window showed what Eggman had feared the most: Sonic and Tails were here. Riding on the right wing of a red biplane, the Tornado, was a big blue hedgehog with five big spines on the back of his head and a pair on red shoes with white stripes down the middle of both of them. Flying the Tornado was an orange two-tailed fox.

"How did you know I was here!?" Eggman asked.

"We have our ways." Tails replied.

Two Hours Earlier...

Location: Green Hill Zone

(Cue Hub - Green Hill (Unused) - Sonic Generations Music Extended)

It was a peaceful time for Sonic and Tails. With three months of relaxation and no Eggman sightings, they were starting to wonder if he had finally given up. The famous blue blur was on the beach next to his house relaxing on a beach chair while bobbing his head to the music. For some reason, Sonic's world would play music on a regular basis, so having a radio usually wasn't necessary for listening to it.

"Ahh, this is the life, sun, sand, and most importantly, no Eggman." Sonic happily sighed. His "vacation" was cut sort when Tails ran outside with a worried look on his face. "Hey Tails! You come for some Eggman-free relaxation?" he joked.

"Sonic, this is no time for games. Something terrible could happen soon!" the two-tailed fox exclaimed. Sonic immediately jumped out of his seat and started running to the lab. When they got there, Tails immediately started typing on his keyboard connected to a giant monitor.

"What's going on? Is this about that meteor that landed a few days ago, because I told you, it's fine, and it's nothing Eggman would want. A fragment of meteor can't be used for world domination." Sonic stated while closing his eyes in amusement.

Tails sighed. "If only that was true." He the pulled up a graph of power signatures on his monitor. "After checking the readings on this so called  'meteor', I discovered that the object that had fallen was not a meteor, but a warp ring." he explained.

Sonic's eyes shot open. "But it's just a warp ring. How's that going to help him? We already have the Chaos Emeralds. Trying to enter it would just give him fifty rings!" Sonic said.

"That's what I thought at first. Until I took a closer look at the readings." Tails stated. "The numbers are in a much bigger quantity than normal warp rings. I checked the output of the warp location, and it says that the other side leads to an universe mainly inhabited by equines called Equestria."

"How do we know Eggman has his hands on this special warp ring? For all we know, he may not even know it exists." Sonic asked. Tails turned to Sonic and gave him a look that said 'Do you really think Eggman wouldn't know about this?'. "Uh, I see your point. Let's go!" the hedgehog exclaimed as Tails ran over to start the Tornado.  Sonic spin jumped onto wing of the biplane as it took off.

"As long as I have the warp ring's frequency. I can track it with the Miles Electric!" Tails exclaimed.

Back In The Present

(Cue Egg Carrier A Song That Keeps Us on the Move - Sonic Adventure Music Extended)

"Why would you even want to rescue a world like- like THAT!" the doctor yelled while he pointed to the view of the other side of the portal.

"Do you really want to play this gave with me? I'd recuse anyone on any world, no matter what!" Sonic quipped.

"Grrr! No matter, once I step through, there will be no way for you to stop me!" Eggman boasted as he hopped into his floating Egg Mobile.

"Yeah, if you can step through before we take it." Sonic joked as the Tornado charged at the window. With quick thinking, Dr. Eggman pulled out a small laser blaster and shot a purple beam of energy at the top right wing of the biplane before he escaped through the warp ring. Tails tried to maneuver the plane away from the blast, but the wing was broken clear off when it struck. Sonic, who was on the other side of the plane, grabbed on to the wing with all his might as the plane spiraled out of control.

"Hold on!!!" Tails screamed as he tried to regain control the Tornado. The two tailed fox managed to keep the plane steady enough to barely pass through the warp ring. As the plane passed through, one of the wheels on the plane clipped the bottom of the warp ring, causing the Chaos Emeralds stashed next to Tails to fly out of reach and into the portal. Sonic also lost his balance and fell off the wing of the Tornado. The last thing Sonic heard before going unconscious was Tails screaming his name.

Location: Equestria

Ponyville

It was an beautiful afternoon in the land of Equestria and Twilight Sparkle and her friends were out in a grassy meadow for their weekly picnic.

"I do so enjoy our weekly get together." a Rarity stated as she sipped on some tea.

"It's nice to see you too, Rarity" Starlight giggled.

"I still can't believe that there's a changeling in Canterlot that wants to make friends." Fluttershy said.

"If it weren't for Spike here, he may not have gotten to make friends." Twilight stated as she pointed her hoof to her baby dragon assistant.

"Aw shucks, it was nothing, really. I bet you would've done the same thing, Twilight." Spike chuckled.

"Um, hate to break up the chat, but I think we may have a problem." Applejack said pointing towards the sky as seven strange lights gathered in the sky before shooting off in different directions, one heading right next to their location.

"Duck and cover!" Pinkie shouted as they all hit the ground as the light smashed into the dirt. When the dust cleared, a blue perfectly cut gem laid in the crater that had formed from the impact.

"What do you think it is?" Rainbow Dash asked the others.

"It's clearly the most gorgeous and perfectly cut gem I have ever laid my eyes on!" Rarity exclaimed.

"Deep breaths, Rarity." Applejack sighed as she walked over to calm the unicorn down.

"Do you think I can eat it?" Spike asked.

"We need to figure out what it is first." Twilight stated.

"I know what it is!" Pinkie Pie shouted.

"Well, here comes the bizarre assumption that somehow manages to be right." Starlight joked.

"That's a... Cha- Twitchy Tail! Twitchy Tail! " Pinkie screamed. The others knew what this meant and immediately covered their heads. After a few seconds, they all lowered their hooves and looked at Pinkie Pie.

"Where's the falling object?" Spike asked.

"That's weird... Usually this situation only happens when-" Pinkie Pie was cut off when a loud explosion was heard coming in the direction of Twilight's Castle. "- it's falling towards Twilight's Castle." Pinkie Pie finished.

"Let's grab the gem and go." Twilight sighed and motioned for the others to get to the castle as fast as they could. When they arrived at the crystal structure, lying at the front of the entrance was an orange two tailed fox wearing shoes and gloves weakly climbing out of the red object before falling onto the ground. There was black scorch marks all over his body. Most noticeably, his right eyelid and the backs of his ears.  Fluttershy immediately ran over to the poor creature for fear of his safety.

"Don't worry little guy, mama Fluttershy's is going to take good care of you." she said timidly. As if by magic, several gold sparkles briefly formed around his body while making a chiming sound for each sparkle. When the sparkles stopped, the black marks on its body had faded away and were no longer visible. "He can heal himself?" Fluttershy asked.

"Sonic, are you okay?" Tails quietly mumbled.

"Who's Sonic?" Twilight asked. Opening his eyes, the first thing Tails saw was a yellow pegasus' face five inches away from him. Beside her were six other multi-colored equine creatures and a baby dragon.

"So I made it to Equestria. Definitely not the strangest awakening, but still." the fox murmured to himself. Fluttershy was immediately two inches in front of Tails' face.

"You can talk? This is so exciting to meet a talking fox! Tell me, what are you thinking?!" the normally timid pony exclaimed while giving one of the biggest smiles Tails had ever seen.

"I take it back, this is definitely the strangest awakening I've ever had."
