ESF: The Final Battle
Chapter 1: New Day, New Adventure
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was very busy at my Cafe one afternoon. Half of Ponyville was lined up to get some fresh coffee. A few years had passed since Melody's uncle, Comet, had been defeated. Now mortal, Comet was serving a life sentence in the Canterlot dungeons for a number of reasons. Attempted murder, forbidden use of time travel, attempted rape via plunder vines, the reasons were endless. Some reasons I do not wish to describe, because some might seem a little too violent, even for a standard pony.
So now, me and the gang just lived out our lives in peace. The only ones really excited were Galaxy and Quillton. They continued their science work while Crystal still worked alongside Nurse Redheart helping sick and injured ponies. Yes I know, Galaxy's got his own private nurse, OK? Ever since Val's death, I've moved on from my past and was now dating a unicorn by the name of Icy. He was a kind pony, and hell, Galaxy even approved of him! Galaxy came in and sat down, looking tired from work. "Tired, Gal?" I asked him. The blue pegasus nodded, adjusting his stetson.
"Mochy, you have no fucking idea." He told me. "Me and Quill are just working non-stop with this new plan of Celestia's. She wants a shield around the whole outside of Ponyville and Canterlot. Ponies like us can step through it easily, but monsters? Ha!" He chuckled. I giggled.
"That sounds like a lot of work. How far are you two in the project?" I asked. Galaxy looked at me with a serious look and that was all I needed. His look told me they were only in the beginning stages. "OK, how long until it's completed?" I asked him. The blue pegasus put a hoof to his chin.
"From the point me and Quill are on now? About 6 to 9 months." He said. My jaw dropped.
"69 months?!" I exclaimed. Galaxy face-hoofed and sighed.
"No, silly Mocha. 6 to 9 months." He explained. My face turned a rose red as I chuckled nervously.
"Heh, heh. Oh." I giggled. Galaxy sighed and ruffled my mane. I looked at the calendar and smirked. "Say, isn't today yours and Crystal's 15th anniversary?" I asked. Galaxy's ears flicked straight up at the mention of that.
"Holy shit, it is!" He gasped. I giggled. "Thanks for reminding me, Mochy. I have to get Crystal's gift!" The pegasus exclaimed, throwing two bits on the counter and darting out the door. My horn glowed a faint yellow as my magic aura picked up the bits and put them in the register.
"Same ol' Galaxy, always there for his friends and wife." I said to myself. It had been 5 years since Comet's defeat, and, well, not much has happened. Frosty was at least 6 now, and she was learning to use her magic. Melody helped her when she could. Speaking of Melody, she was now 15 and had her cutie mark. It was a purple microphone and treble-clef, signifying her passion for music. She had turned into quite the mare. Her aunt Crimson took her out for girl time whenever she could. At Canterlot, Galaxy's brother was pacing back and forth like crazy. Night fell and the guards kept switching every few hours.
"Got to get out of here somehow." Comet muttered to himself. Suddenly, shadows enveloped around Comet, causing the guards to gasp and drop dead. Apparently the shadows were toxic, but Comet didn't drop dead. The shadows teleported him to an old castle. A mare sat on the throne, smirking and staring at Comet with sultry eyes. "Nightmare....Moon?" Comet asked. Nightmare Moon nodded.
"Hello, sweetie." Nightmare Moon purred. Comet's heart was beating rapidly in his chest. His lover walked towards him, her tail swaying back and forth. "I heard how that awful Galaxy defeated you and you turned mortal." The alicorn pouted. "I miss vampire you. You were so terrifying." She whispered in Comet's ear. Comet just stared as Nightmare Moon circled around him, swaying her hips back and forth.
"I've been overly busy." He replied. Nightmare Moon put a hoof on her lover's shoulder. "Why did you free me?" Galaxy's brother asked. The alicorn giggled.
"What, I can't see my favorite pegasus?" She giggled again. Comet raised an eyebrow. "I have a plan." She groaned, her ears dropping.
"That doesn't surprise me." Comet said as Nightmare Moon began to pace around. "Tell me something I haven't heard before." He added. The alicorn sighed.
"I plan to conquer Equestria, but to do so, I need your help, and Haggarium." She said. Comet's wings sprung out in surprise.
"Uh, sweetie?" He asked. "Isn't all the Haggarium in Equestria gone?!" He asked the alicon. Nightmare Moon giggled.
"Don't worry, baby. I've been secretly keeping a stash hidden in Dragon's Cove, untouched by Celestia and Luna." She smirked. For a second, Comet's green eyes flashed red, causing him to smirk. Ever since he reverted to being mortal and alive, Comet's eyes were green, but sometimes, when in an evil situation, they flashed their dominant red color. Late that night, I was just closing up shop. About 10 years ago, give or take, Comet jump-scared me in this exact spot, causing me to be sent to the hospital. As far as I knew, Comet was locked up tight. That was until, Galaxy got a letter directly from Celestia. He called all of us over at his house.
"What's it say, buddy?" Quillton asked. Galaxy cleared his throat as his wife peered over his shoulder.
"Galaxy, I do not mean to disturb you. I know how much you've been through over the past few years after you and your brother's battle. I regret to inform you that somehow, your brother has escaped and apparently unclear to me, the guards that were watching him have ended up dead. Please come to Canterlot immediately, I believe your expertise and optimism may be required. Celestia." Galaxy sighed after reading the letter.
"So, all of us?" Crystal asked. "Or just my husband?" She wondered. Sunset face-hoofed.
"Crystal, dear?" She asked. Crystal looked up. "Celestia asked for just Galaxy. That means we have to stay behind." She said, before yelping as another letter flew in, catching me by surprise. Galaxy unrolled it and read.
"P.S., bring Crystal with you. I believe you coming alone might not be good for you. Just a thought." The letter read. Crystal read it and s'queed in delight. She turned to Sunset and smirked.
"What was that about us staying behind?" She asked. Sunset stuck out her tongue at the pegasus and pouted. Quillton patted her back and winked at Crystal. Soon, at the train station, the couple boarded the train to Canterlot and the rest of us watched as the train set off towards the palace.
