Chapters Ah.... I cant wait to get out of this carriage! I think to myself as I turn over what is about to unfold in my mind. The best tech school Equestria has to offer! And I got accepted! Equestria is riddled with various colleges that offer highly advanced technology courses, but Equestria Institute of Technology is the best. While most colleges are located around Canterlot, EIT is right outside Ponyville.
The carriage stops and the door swings open. I look up to see myself greeted by a gray coated pony with a black mane.
"Hello, Greetings, and Welcome to Equestria Institute of Technology!" The grey greeter beamed with enthusiasm. "My name is Cordial and I'll be your first friend here at EIT!"
A freshman's welcome Eh... I wonder how many times he has to repeat that one... I thought to myself and let out a sly grin.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Cordial, and I can't wait! I reply with a giddy smile.
"Alright lets see your Mr. ... Travis? Yes! Mr. Travis! from the United States. Welcome to Equestria Mr. Travis, have you been here before?" "Yes I Have, every few years I visit Equestria on vaction with my family." I respond while reminiscing on past visits to this beautiful land.
"Welcome back then...Ok Travis, can we begin our tour of the school?" Cordial asked with his face still smiling. I took a minute to pay the carriage, and agreed to walk with Cordial. Right before we set off, I took a moment to appreciate my surroundings... Flowers adorned the grass right in front of what appeared to be a main building. The main building was constructed with stone and marble, and shown signs of Greek architecture. Wow! This is much better than the brochure! I almost spoke out loud as Cordial received my attention.
"Shall we be off?" he asked as we walked towards the campus.
Humans...Stallions...Mares...Ponies...Griffons...Unicorns... I can't even list out the different species of intelligent animals conversing, laughing, and abiding in just the courtyard alone. The courtyard resided behind the main Student Center, and connected the various classroom buildings together. Each building displayed a different style of architectural taste, and sophistication.
"Right here is the Student Center! Everything from billiards tables to restaurants are housed in that building. Also note that if you find yourself in need of a class change, seek out the Student Services desk on the first floor." A green mare accompanied by her friend walked by me and both giggled.
"Omg you see that? ANOTHER human! They're taking over! hehe!" The green one muttered under her breath.
Really? are humans looked down upon here?! ... I don't know how I'm going to fit in here... I quickly think to myself in a panic.
"As you can see the student body here at EIT is as diverse as the classes we offer! We pride ourselves as the most forward thinking and accepting university in Equestria. Where other universities have policies against students dating, we let the individual be themselves without fear!" Cordial hailed as he lit up full of pride. My mind wondered off as he continued to ramble about buildings, policies, and classes. I couldn't stop thinking about what that mare had said....
Another human? Whats wrong with us humans...? I hope it was only a joke. For if it was not, my chances of landing a date are... slim to say the least!
"Hello." I hear someone say as I snap out of deep thought. A human girl about 5'11" with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes is standing in front of me with her arm extended.
"Oh Hello." I blurt out trying to recover from voiding out Cordial's rambling. Shaking her hand, I notice Something about this girl... We are the only humans in the courtyard at the moment.
"My name is Jane Elberton." she softly replies.
"Travis, so what brings you here?"
"Well that concludes my tour Travis... you can explore but remember to set up your apartment!" Cordial interrupted and then proceeds to trot off.
"I see you met Cordial." Jane responds seemingly not batting an eye to the interruption.
"Yeah he showed me around... hes a bit... enthusiastic." I say with a feeling of confusion.
"He's pretty much the school recruiter, even though the school is advanced... its not how they say it is." Jane warned with a sharp look.
"Make sure to drop by my dorm later. We need to talk about some things before you go out into public. For today, leave your interactions with other species at greetings only... Alright?" She whispered to me while leaning in close.
"That's fine by me..."
"Seven o' clock sharp, building 3, room 214." With that being said, she smiled and walked off.
Man... that was odd! What did she need to talk to ME for? Especially on the first day and make it so urgent? I'll just have to see... I begin walking to my dorm, fatefully, in building 3. Looking down at the card the room number displayed 460, on the fourth floor. Ponies, Griffons, Diamond Dawgs, even Zebras past me as I made my way to the dorm building. I noticed one pony in particular with a pinkish grey coat and a purple mane staring at me while I walked by the electronics building. She had what I would call a "mundane" purple color to her eyes. Is she eyeing me? I thought as I stared back trying to figure her out. I saw her giggle as I almost dropped the gaze... then she winked at me. My face started to feel hot and I realized... this pony made me blush! I quickly broke the gaze and walked with intent to building 3. she made me blush... remember what Jane said. I desperately reminded myself, really wanting to talk to people. I'm very social, and it's hard to control myself when new people Especially Ponies are around.
When I was a kid, my parents would take me on trips to Equestria because my old man loves to travel, and his employer gave free vacations here. The traveling industry has been pushing Equestria as a destination ever since it was discovered. We visited the beaches, toured the Canterlot Castle... we even met Princess Celestia! My dad almost embarassed all of humanity in front of her by not bowing! Although everything was fine, my mother especially got on his case. When I was a senior in High School, I heard of the Equestria Trade Student Program. The program sounded too good to be true, a full scholarship, live in Equestria, and tons of new ponies to make friends with. Princess Celestia hoof picks the 80 humans that get to each year. Not only did she pick me, she remembered my family! In the acceptance letter, she wrote how she was happy to welcome me back personally, and if I need anything to just ask. I plan on seeing her soon, the royal dinner for all the humans accepted is march 15th. Today is August 3rd. Although it is a long time off, I wrote a letter to her asking to meet whenever she might have the time for it. Unlike the Presedent of the United States, both Celestia and Luna will meet with ordinary citizens almost any time they have. With my trip down memory lane consuming my walk to my room, I arrived.
"Room 460." I said to myself out loud as I opened the door.
The room was pretty spacious, it looked like it could house two people at least, but my room key said it was just for me. A medium sized T.V. hung in the living room area with a three person couch sitting 5' back from it. The room was all carpet until it hit the kitchen area which was tile. Kicking off my shoes and feeling the carpet beneath my feet felt like heaven from all the walking I had just done. I took another look at the living room and noticed all my boxes of things stacked in the corner, waiting for me to unpack them. I walked over to the boxes and started to sort them. clothes... Office Supplies...Music...there all here. I picked up the box labeled music. Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Metallica, pantera, Anthrax, Trivium, Slayer, Rings of Saturn... What a relief! All my CD's arrived safely. I take music seriously. Although I like Metal, I do listen to other genres. With my music secured, I moved to take the box entitled "clothes" to the bedroom. The bed was at least a king size, and it was rather spacious. Alright! I like big beds and I can not lie! I wondered off as I began to hang my clothes in the closet. With my excitement still at maximum capacity, I began to wonder about what Jane had to tell me... It's 4:14 at the moment... 214 at 7 sharp.
Jane was nice but very precise with what she wanted. Room 412 at 7 Sharp. I thought to myself as I look at my watch. 5:30 PM.
"Time flies when your having fun." I sarcastically commented even though no one was around to hear.
What to do... what to do... I can watch T.V... I guess. I flipped on the Television and proceeded to flip through the channels. let's see what the news is talking about.
"Today in Equestria, EIT takes on multiple human students in whats coming to be called the 'Equestria Trade Student Program'. " A newspony stated.
No kidding...
"This program is giving hope to both the ponies of Equestria and the people of the various countries they hail from." The other mare newspony chimed.
"Let's hear from Storm Cloud with the local weather on the 8's."
This must be a big deal, or the news has nothing to talk about! Heh. I thought as I flipped the channel.
"I might as well take a quick nap, it's only 5:45 and I'm tired." I explained to myself, giving me even more justification to pass the time. I set an alarm and dosed off on the couch.
I burst awake in a panicked haze. Realizing my alarm was going off. Lamb of God - Redneck
stopping the song, I checked to make sure I was decent to meet Jane. 6:25 the time read. 25 minutes to get ready and leave. Looks like I need a new shirt, this won't do... I thought nervously as I checked out the sweat stains under my arms. My closet was full of various types of shirts for different social settings. This will fit the occasion. a red graphic tee with a black skull hung from the top right corner. I pulled it down and changed. Making my way over to the mirror, I noticed I looked casual enough.
This is usual. It's 6:41 and I'm not hungry. Weird. Even though my shorts were kind of wrinkled, I didn't have any others unpacked yet.
"Let's go see what this is all about." I sigh as I walk over to the door. The hallway looks empty with the EIT colors gold, black and white, painted to the walls.
The empty hallway reminded me off all the students off making friends on the first day, or maybe I was the only creature on this floor? It didn't matter as much as the tension that I felt while making my way to the elevator. I pressed the button a little harder than I normally would have under normal circumstances. But something doesn't feel normal about this... a girl I just met wants me to not talk to anyone, then tells me to show up at her apartment? Seems anything but sane to me. Maybe I was crazier by doing what she said? I couldn't tell...
*Ding!* The doors of the elevator slide open and I walked in. 4th floor I found the corresponding button and pressed it in.
My nerves caused me to pace around the elevator as it traveled down to Jane's floor. After a few seconds the doors open and I pace out to begin searching for room 412.
Over there on the right are the larger numbers, left.... Alright now were talkin' I seemed to almost yell out of my mind as my heart begins to race. 420....418....4.....12! I beam up having found my destination.... Time 6:53. Early.
I knocked on the door waiting for an answer. The response was quick, and the door cracked open.
"Hey Travis! Only a few minutes early... Come on in." Jane calmly smiles and opens the door completely open.
Jane's apartment was similar to mine...but decorated differently. The living room had about 5 humans in it, not including Jane and I. Two were female Asians, one was a Hispanic male, three were African american, and Jane and I were Caucasian. Each person seemed to be as nervous as I was... we sensed that we were brought here because of one thing. I took a seat on the couch next to the two Asian girls. Jane closed the door and moved to the middle of the room.
"Good, I see everyone made it... Welcome to my apartment! We all know what we are... Humans. " Jane remarked. "It's the first day and Kate and Juan know what I'm going to say. Humans are far outnumbered here. I'm going to be plain and simple. Most ponies look down on us. We can't do magic, we can't fly naturally, we can't run fast.... We are so different to them. I was the first transfer student to EIT, and I was met with hostility. The reason why they feel this way is simple... they feel threatened. This new world they discovered, humans, aircraft, technology that had not been thought of by ponies... They're scared of us. We are aliens. The humans that live in Equestria are judged harshly by their pony counterparts... It's bad. Guys we have to be careful out there. Everypony is tense and they are just now accepting us for who we are, another species to add to their diverse world. I believe it will get better as the year progress, but for now mind your words. We are all here for each other, but I don't expect anything bad to happen this year... especially after what happened last year. So get to know everybody, I'll put out some snacks and we can play just dance 4!"
Each person in the room suddenly felt at ease just at the mention of anything from home.
Each place I've visited before wasn't hostile... So why all this hate? I pondered as the snacks were being placed on the coffee table.
"Hi I'm Ling!" Suddenly my train of thought was derailed. One of the Asian girls was standing in front of me with her hand extended.
"Hello, I'm Travis." I say as I stood up and returned the handshake.
"You're new here am I right? It is my 2nd here." Ling said with a welcoming smile. Ling was about 5 foot tall with glasses. Behind her glasses were two dark brown eyes that perceptively stared into my own.
"Yeah I'm the new guy." I said kind of awkwardly back to her.
"We all know the feeling." She said with a chuckle. "I have a twin sister, Xiu... the one over there by James." She pointed over to the African American man standing next to the refrigerator. "You can tell us apart by the glasses. I wear glasses and she doesn't. Also Xiu is kind of reserved, so she will be a bit shy when you meet her. My mother always says she needs to talk more." Ling giggles. "So tell me about yourself."
"Well Ling, I am really into music and art... trying new things, and I like to be around people." I say trying to keep from being awkward.
"That's nice, do you play any instruments?"
"I Do! I play guitar, drums and bass." I respond more enthusiastically.
"Cool! A jack of all trades eh? " Right after she finished the Hispanic guy walks over to us.
"Hey Ling who is the freshman?" He asks.
"His name is Travis. Travis meet Juan, the tech geek." Ling replied as she looked at me.
"I'ts nice to meet you." I say shaking his hand.
"Yeah same! I'm more of an expert than a buff really. I once programmed a mac to run like a P.C. like seriously! Their firewalls are garbage." He said with confidence.
"That's cool, but it's all Greek to me man." I responded laughing.
"No sweat, you need anything just talk to me. Hey Jane you can't play M.J. without me!" Juan said as he rushed over to play just dance.
"Ok so over there in the corner, they are all from the country of South Africa. The girl is named Sarah, They don't really interact with anyone, or anypony. James, the one talking to my sister is from the States. He is cool, just can be a tad bit impulsive at times." Ling described to me.
"Thanks for the heads up." I say with gratitude.
"Ok time to see what you're best move is!" Ling grabbed my arm and pulled me to the T.V. where the just dance game was playing.
The dance competition was very intense. I danced with the characters on the screen, but Ling and Juan seemed to be always a step ahead of Jane and I. As we moved around, I started to notice something... I felt... safe. I felt like I had people that cared for me, even though they don't really know me.... The night continued on. The dancing intensified. Sweat was amounting.
"BOOM! Juan wins again!" He shouts triumphantly as he marvels at his new high score.
I was starting to get very tired. All the dancing and novelty of meeting new people has me very worn out.
12:00 a.m. I need to go to bed soon... Tomorrow will be a very busy day.
I approached Jane who was drinking a gatorade next to the T.V. and said.
"Thank you for inviting me Jane, but I'm so tired..."
"No problem! a few people have already left. I'll see you tomorrow Travis... and thanks for coming!" Jane said as she gave me a tight hug. "Welcome to the family."
I said my goodbyes to my new friends and left for my own apartment. Made my way down the weirdly painted halls, and onto the elevator.
Floor 7. I pressed the button and the elevator took me up to my floor.
I opened the door to my apartment and noticed something on my bed... a letter. It wasn't like an ordinary letter. It had the seal of Celestia on it. I shut my door and curiously made my way over to the letter. With haste I peeled the scroll open.
Dear Travis,
I hope you have found your living arrangements suitable. Welcome back to Equestria! I am writing you for numerous reasons. You stood out from the rest of the candidates for my transfer program which I commend you, to ask you how you like EIT, and for personal reasons. I would enjoy your company when my schedule permits it and I would like to personally be your pen pall. If you don't mind of course. My sister has also expressed her desire to meet you at the next possible date. I will write you whenever something opens up. I really do hope you are enjoying yourself, write me if something is not in order. I have had installed into your apartment a special kind of mailbox, that sends me the letters you write. It looks kind of like the mailboxes you have at home, I thought it was a nice touch! Anyways, I'm eagerly awaiting your response.
Your Friend,
Princess Celestia
I looked at the mailbox looking thing in the corner and wonder why she wants to be pen pals with me.
A Princess... pen palls with me?! Gosh.... I feel so mixed about this! While I knew Celestia, I wasn't exactly on BFF status with her. Shes a pony, and royalty... why a pen pall with me? I decided not to question it. Just get ready for bed, and deal with it tomorrow. So that's what I did I went to bed.
Looking back, I probably could have lost my mind only on the first day! Think about it... Not only was I told most ponies look down on me, I only was told a few things about the whole picture. I have the feeling of looking at a white room suddenly exploding with colors. It's cool, but seriously... strange. That's how this whole place is. Strange! But to be fair, I like it a lot. It will take time to fully adjust to the social situation of the school but hey, I did sign up for a pony school.
I hate waking up on Sundays. I turned over to my alarm clock to see what time it was. 10:12 a.m. Not too bad. I could have slept all day though, it just felt like one of those days. The days that plagued my high school years. Boredom as well as a gloomy feeling of depression. Oh well, I came here to get away from that crap. Time to get some food. Let's see, how about the school cafeteria. In addition to a complete scholarship, the EIT plan includes FREE food, Whenever the school cafeteria is open. Pretty great yeah? I got out of my bed and looked at myself in the mirror. My jet black hair was ridden with bedhead, and long. I have been growing out my hair since the start of my senior year of High School, and now it sits at a little bit lower than my shoulders. My hair was complemented with a short chin beard that makes me look much older than I am. I'm 19 right now, but I'm usually offered beer when I eat out because of it. I'm not complaining but hey, it's funny to see how many people don't check. I'm wearing a tye dye tee with black sleeping pants, and I look somewhat hungover. After observing how I resemble a bum, I went in the bathroom and took a long shower. It is Sunday, and to me Sunday is long shower day.
I grabbed a towel and drying off, I noticed a feeling of peace sweep over me. Today feels good. For many unknown reasons, something is going to happen today, and I'm going to enjoy it. I make my way over to my closet and find my pair of knee length cargo shorts. Fitting it on myself, I went to grab my Megadeth 2016 tour t shirt, my favorite. Let's kick some ass... I tell myself as I put it on and brush my hair.
Carefully, I walk around my room looking for my Ipod and earbuds. There! I pick up the device and unravel the cord, sticking the earbuds in. Then the hardest task of the day ensued... Finding what I wanted to listen to. I know! Old School Trivium. With it being decided, I started up the album Ascendancy and opened the door to the hallway.
There were a couple of Yaks in the hallway talking, but I didn't care I was hungry. When I'm hungry, I can't think straight... I get tunnel vision until I get some food. I got a few stares of what seemed to be disgust from some stallions in the hallway. Eh, I'm not worried. I thought, dismissing the gnarly looks of the male ponies. Besides, I've got friends... Jane, Juan, Ling, and hopefully Xiu. I don't mind people staring at me, especially because I'm human and I'm living in this new world of ponies. On top of that, I'm a metalhead. I'm a guy that has long hair and a chin beard... It's normal to receive stares.
There's the elevator. A few ponies were waiting for the elevator, but they didn't seem like they wanted to talk. The elevator door retracted and we boarded. The ride down wasn't as awkward because I was buried in "Rain" by Trivium. As we got off of the elevator, I noticed a lack of life in the lobby. People were probably sleeping in, or out doing stuff already. Doesn't matter to me though, I need food. When I thought of a sandwich, my mouth watered. Gotta get to the cafeteria.
I walked through the EIT courtyard and noticed ponies were out doing things today. It seemed to me though that the majority were trying to meet people, and I guess I was one of them. Parts of me wanted to run into people, but I usually let the other person start the conversation. Mainly because I don't exactly like going up to people and talking... But a root of it might be in the fact that a part of me knows I can't be friends with Everybody. The courtyard was a nice place, I really enjoyed walking though it. I practically could care less about this place right now though, I need food!
I swung open the Student Center's door and immediately tried to get to the bottom level. EIT is a fairly large school, and extremely diverse... the food options reflect it. Most restaurants were catering to ponies, but a few reflected oriental themes, and even a Griffon joint was fairly popular. Since humans are weird with our diet, we don't have a restaurant... yet? I don't know though if we have rights, but whatever I don't care at the moment. I spot a pony place that sells sandwiches, and speed walk over there. All of the restaurants were fairly busy but this place was booming!
I open the door and take off my earbuds. WichWay. Hmm. What looks good?
"Hey are you one of those trade students?" I hear from the employee.
"Oh! Hi! Yeah that's me, say what's good here?" I ask in a hazy feeling.
"You see we have so many sandwiches, there are too many tasty ones for me to pick." The mare behind the counter tells.
"Surprise me, I'm very hungry. I don't care what's on it as long as there is no olives."
"Can do buddy! I do ask, how do you like Equestria?"
"I love it, I've been coming here for a long time... ever since I was a kid." I responded with a smile on my face.
"Interesting... what classes do you take?"
"Honestly, not sure yet. I immagine I'm going to be knocking out my core classes."
"Alrighty! Your total is 12 bits, how would you like to pay for this?"
I pull out my food card and swipe it on the credit card reader, take my food, and make my way back outside. I saw a nice place on the grass to sit and enjoy my first meal from the cafeteria. Reaching in my pocket, I pull out my earbuds and start listening to music again. Each bite of my Sandwich was very satisfying. It tasted like a salad on bread with ranch sauce included, I normally didn't enjoy salad, but this one was alright.
The same sight as yesterday, just less people in one area. The courtyard looked empty, but I enjoyed the absence. I looked over to where I saw the mare yesterday. Something caught my eye. The greyish pink mare was sitting by where she was yesterday... but with a book this time. She seemed to be really into reading, because she was making facial expressions that corresponded to the story! The pony seemed to be amused, then laughed and closed the book. Looking around she noticed me staring at her. Crap! That's awkward! Look away! My eyes darted to the bell tower that rang on the hour. Slowly turning my eyes towards the general direction of the greyish pink mare was, I noticed something. She had put the book in her bag and started walked towards me. She bared a look of curiosity as well as a sly smile. Pretending not to notice, I looked to the far right and waited for her to approach.
"Hi! May I sit with you?" The pony asked in a sincere tone.
"Hey, Yeah sure go ahead." I respond wearing a smile
"I can't help but notice you're new to EIT... My name is Starlight Glimmer." She beamed with enthusiasm.
"That's a pretty name. Mine is Travis." I commented as I saw her cheeks slightly blush.
"Thank you! I've been coming here for only two years now but I really like EIT."
"Oh wow I like what I've seen so far." I pitched in.
"Is this your first time coming to Equestria?"
"No, My family has visited every year since I can remember, It's kind of a tradition."
"Wow, It must have been rather grand to have had so many trips here."
"My father is a business man and he works for a company that sells here in Equestria. Have you heard of the brand Pepsi Cola?" I asked not expecting Starlight to know what cola even was.
"Yes! I drink it a few times a week, that cola stuff is kind of strong... but I enjoy it." She replied while looking me intently in the eyes.
"Wow a pony that drinks Pepsi... but anyway his position got us to meet many important ponies, even Princess Celestia!"
"...Must have been a great experience." Starlight Glimmer said after looking away in a semi-troubled manner.
"So yeah that's a tad bit about-.."
"What is that on your shirt?" The pony asked, quickly changing the subject.
"Oh. That is a band I listen to, Megadeth." I responded.
"Mind telling me about them, I'm a curious pony." She said trying to desperately get her mind off of something.
"Yeah they play metal music. Metal sounds kind of aggressive, it also is played with stringed instruments and drums rather than a computer."
"Cool! You simply have to let me listen to this... Do you have any CD's in your dorm?" She asked looking at me.
"Yeah, want to hang out soon?" I asked as she widened her eyes and got exited.
"Um Yeah! That would be great! Maybe I could cook and we could watch some Equestrian classic movies... Listen to this metal music, do stuff that friends do!" She over enthusiastically said.
"Totally I guess? How does 6 P.M. sound?"
"I can make it, I'll see you then Travis... What is your dorm by the way?." Starlight said as I asked about the time.
"Room 460, And I'm looking forward to it Starlight Glimmer." With that being said she perked up and trotted off seemingly very happy.
I took a minute to reflect on my thoughts, and on what had just went down. Not only did I make a new friend... She was apparently very interested in me. I don't know if it is that I'm a human or that I'm just new, but she seriously seems exited to get to know me. scratch exited... more like elated. This doesn't happen with many other people, let alone ponies. Just yesterday a pony literally dreaded my sight. Weird times I guess.
"Travis! Hey good to see you out today." Jane said as she walked up to me. "I had a great time at the party. So what's the news today?"
"Well I literally just met a pony, and last night after I went back to my dorm... I found this weird mailbox in my room with a letter on my bed."
"Wow, go on..." Jane said as she sat next to me.
"It wasn't just any letter right... It was from Celestia."
"Don't you mean Princess Celestia? Like the goddess pretty much?!" Jane responded in disbelief.
"Yeah the Princess. I met her a few years back and apparently, made a good impression. Celestia wants me to write her about my experiences here and about how I like it."
"No way man. No way! So what is the mailbox for, the letters?" She asked while intently listening.
"Yeah, it's pretty rad. She was talking about meeting and stuff, and she wanted to get to know me." I said trying to downplay the situation.
"You are so lucky! I met her once last year when I first came here... she's just... like... wow." Jane stammered in disbelieving shock.
"Something along those lines. Jane I have to go and fix some stuff at my dorm, I'll catch up later with you." I said as I got up with the rest of my sandwich and left her there... sill shocked.
I really hope I can get settled into this. I thought. Both Jane and Starlight both see something in me that isn't there... I hope they calm down.
I wandered in bouncing thought to each little thing that had happened today as I made my way in the dorm building. On the way up the elevator two mares seemed to be eyeballing me with flirty eyes as I just kept listening to music. Suddenly I felt fur on my right arm as one of the mares bumped into me.
"Oh I'm Soooo sorry... I must have tripped." The white mare said as she said in a flirty way.
"Accidents happen, It's ok." I said as I payed little attention to her.
"Well my name is Flutterheart-.." The white pony responded.
"My name is Daffodil-.." The second Light yellowed mare cuts in.
"I'm sorry about my friend Daffodil Cutting In Like That!"
"You know how much I like meeting new people Flutterheart-.."
The two ponies seemed to argue over my attention while the door opened up to my floor and I walked away,
"Call me!" One of the mares shouts as I leave the elivator.
Wow. Strange...... Very Strangeeee.
I opened the door to my dorm and set my sandwich down on the kitchen's counter top and noticed the flag on my mailbox was up. I went to investigate. Slowly opening the lid, I pulled out a letter from Celestia. I opened the seal and took out the letter.
Dear Travis,
Hi Again! It is Celestia. I wanted to make known to you my intentions of not just getting to know you, but to have a close friendship with you. Whenever you write me, I ask that you refer to me as just... Celestia. There's no need for you to get all fancy with me, I have to do that enough you know? Do as you will with it, but you don't have to be formal. Today I went to a shop and had some more of that Pepsi cola your dad makes. I love the stuff! Maybe they should make a flavor that centers around ponies? Speaking of your dad, it was funny to see your mom's reaction to him not bowing! Honestly it would not have been a big deal if he didn't. Meet anyone new yet?
Your Friend,
Celestia
"Can this day stop surprising me. Seriously. I'm not exactly complaining.... but it is getting crazier every second." I mutter to myself as I finished reading the letter. I decided to write her back and tell her about today.
Dear PRINCESS Celestia,
It is great to hear from you especially so soon. I enjoyed my first sandwich from the food court today, It was pretty good. Gosh I thought you were offended by my dad, and hated Pepsi after what my dad did! I laugh at the thought now, but then my mom made me feel so embarrassed. I guess It is not a bad idea to market to ponies specifically but hey tell that to my dad haha. By the way, do not take the Princess part in the greeting seriously, I was only joking. I feel the same way and would love to get to know you better as a friend, and it would be awkward to be calling you "Your Highness, Princess, and Godess" all the time. I can if you desire though Your Highness. I have met a few new people, I met all the transfer humans and like them a lot. I met the pony that works at wichway. But what was really weird... three mare today flirted with me. I know these two in the elevator were but this one was trying to be friends too, her name is Starlight Glimmer. Maybe you can give me some more insight to all this attention?
Your Friend,
Travis
With that, I put the letter in the mailbox and sent it to Celestia and began eating my sandwich again.
College Sucks!
I just sat there wondering if I was in too deep. The only thing that really bothered me was the way that all this was falling into place. Can I just figure all this out before it implodes? The previous experience I've had with girls was when I was in high school. I remember a girl I knew asked me to the school's dance... but she wanted more than just a date to the dance. She wanted me to date her. I entertained the idea, but quickly I found out she was only interested in the idea of dating. She wanted to date me because her two sisters had boyfriends, and she didn't want to be left out. Not that I minded, but she was a body builder in highschool. It was a tad bit weird but it was kinda hot looking back on it... except I wasn't that fit.
*Knock* I heard someone at the door.
Starlight already? I thought to myself as I went to my door to see who was there.
"Hey Travis you forgot something!" The muffled sound of Jane's voice said as I unlocked the door. "Your wallet fell out of your pocket."
I felt my pocket and realized it wasn't there.
"My gosh... thank you so much." I say as I take my wallet from her hand.
"Dude, anytime." Jane responds with a grin.
"Hey why don't you hang out here with me for a while? I wanted to ask you some questions." I said thinking about the letter I recently sent to Celestia.
"Yeah I've got a few minutes." Jane said as she walked in. I saw her checking out my room... Especially my posters. "So what did you have on your mind Travis?"
"It just seems the female ponies here are a little bit... friendly to say the least." I said to her.
"What do you mean? Like... OHHH! That kind of friendly." Jane said laughing a little. "Well you see, if my theory is correct, I think it has something to do with the lack of males."
"So essentially more girls than guys?" I asked.
"I think so... I mean I do notice the mares are brutal." Jane seemed to blush a little. "Like one time I saw a few ponies fighting for the attention of a stallion.... It was rather funny!" She said with a laugh. "You see one was like 'I'm going to give him the best date anypony has ever had.' then the other commented 'she farts on the first date!' then they started almost punching each other!"
I laughed rather hard at the story Jane was telling me. That sounds like the elevator! Wait! I have to tell her about that.
"Jane that is so funny! But I was in the elevator earlier and two mares seemed to try to fight over me... It was kind of like that." I confessed.
"Ahh I see. Don't expect any of the ponies wanting you to ask them... they ask you first. Also make sure that you ignore any of them you don't want to date."
"I've only met a few ponies lately... all of them today."
"I saw you were talking to Starlight Glimmer."
"You know her?" I asked.
"I know of her." She commented while thinking. "You can say everyone knows of her..."
"What?" I ask confused.
"Well... a few years ago she how can I put this... introduced socialism to the nation of Equestria."
"How so?"
"Um... she might have.... kind of took the ponies butt tattoos away from them... then umm kind of like you know.... made a village where she was the only one in power then like made everyone miserable.."
"So she ran like a communist Russia in Equestria?" I said confused yet again.
"Yeah sort of... also not many people like her even though she doesn't act like she did anymore. Well thinking about it they more like distrust her than hate her." Jane said trying to recall all she knew about her.
Well. It seems I have invited a former villain to my apartment... wrote to the Princess about her... and Starlight probably thinks I have a crush on her. Wow. College sucks so far. My thoughts slapped me sarcastically.
"That's good to know." I say deep in thought about Starlight.
"Well yeah. I guess that is the short way of putting it. So anything else you wanted to ask?" Jane responded happily.
"Not particularly, but thanks for telling me about that. You want to play ps4 with me for a bit?" I ask holding a controller up in the air with a challenging smile.
"Yeah I do! You are so dead Travis!" Jane laughed as she took the controller from me.
We played video games for the next hour, and talked about Ponyville, the Everfree, and even a little about Earth. We laughed at how un-ordinary Call Of Equestria: Friendship missions was compared to the violent games of earth.
"Dude I think that these games they have here gush out sappiness... like no joke." Jane said as she shot me with a friendship cannon. "Just look at this Travis, a freaking rainbow CANNON! It's so adorable, yet deadly.... Just like Yours truly." She remarked over-sarcastically.
"Watch it Jane, looks like someone is getting cocky!" I reply preparing my secret weapon.... the wubanizor. "Hah HA! I have you where I want you now!"
"Not so fast Travs!" Jane exclaims desperately as she throws a celestial blinding grenade.
"Though I am blinded, My Wubanizor is not!" The music danced out of the weapon as I pacified her character, winning the match.
We laughed even though Jane had visibly been a little annoyed at losing the game. I turned the T.V. off and stood up to stretch. Though the game was somewhat relaxing, my back disagreed with a few pops. Jane got up and went to the fridge, taking out a Pepsi and started to drink the beverage.
"Hey have you heard anything from Juan, Xiu, or any of them?" I asked Jane casually, secretly wanting to know if they were talking about me.
"Not really, they are going to be out of town until the start of the semester. Just you and I are staying at EIT until classes start." Jane replied after taking a big sip of the drink. "By the way... how did you get all these Pepsi drinks, like only select places sell these not to mention in small quantities."
"My Dad works for the company. I don't have much brand loyalty when it comes to Cola, but it is nice to have connections." I laughed. "He wrote a note when he sent all those that said 'Make sure to give a few to your new pony friends!'."
Jane sighed. "It must be nice to get free soda, here you have to pay import taxes for them." After saying that she looked at me and asked "Could you maybe hook me up with a shipment? Maybe just a 12 pack if it isn't much trouble... it's a little too expensive for me to buy at the price they are here in Equestria."
I took out a pen and paper out from the kitchen counter and started writing my Earth address. "Ok so just write a letter to my dad explaning all that and how the prices are too high and he probably will send you some for free. Just say you're friends with me, no need to be formal." I said giving Jane the address.
"Sweet, thanks again Travs." Jane says as she gives me a hug.
I tense up not expecting this... I slowly recover and return the hug as she seems to enjoy it a little more than I do. After what seems to be a full minute Jane withdrew with what seemed to be a blush on her face.
"I wasn't expecting a hug, but you're welcome!" I say totally caught off-guard.
"What's wrong Travis... afraid of a little hug?" She shot back, capitalizing on my fears of being attacked.
"Maybe, but that's none of your business!" laughter ensued from the both of us as we looked at each other. The clock on the wall reminds me about my upcoming 'date' with Starlight. My face turned to a cold and uneasy smile.
"I don't want to kick you out Jane, but Starlight will be over soon... and I need to clean this place up." My hands gesture, showing the rather clean dorm apartment. Well.... clean by my standards. Which means, it looks like a nuke dropped.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was fun hanging out, I'll see you around!" I say goodbye to Jane and close the door and let out a sigh. A socialistic pony-villain in my dorm, plus I can imagine she has the hots for me. I begin to walk over to my boxes, and fix them up to look presentable. My mind can't stop thinking about this Starlight Glimmer as I organize my room, shaping it up for this pony. Looks like I have a lot of cleaning left...
Two hours later...
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
I race over to the door with total anxiety. My heart is beating out of my chest... I can't stop my palms from sweating... Please Lord help me. With that silent prayer, I opened the door.
"H-hello Travis!" She smiles showing a nervous smile. "Can I come in?"
"Hey Starlight! Nice to have you, come on in." I reply, trying to break down an obvious tension. Starlight walks in looking around at my living space.
"It's nice to see what you've done with the place... very spacious, I knew that they gave the transfer students the biggest."
"At least I can have people over comfortably." I say responding to the talk of the room. "So did you do something with your mane? It looks different than earlier... It looks pretty." My compliment brightens up her face as she smiles, looking me in the eyes.
"Yea, I just thought... you know... it would be nice to spruce it up." She says as her cheeks give an obvious blush. "So I know you probably have a lot of questions about me, so... I'll just say it. I used to not exactly be the best pony. I just want you to know that I've changed and I'm ready to come into this second chance as a new pony." Her ears drop low and her head soon follows. "I just wanted you to know that Travis, you know... before we seriously became 'friends'..."
"Hey Starlight, thank you for your honesty. I can see that it really affected you, and I want to be your friend. What happened, happened. No need to further bring up past mistakes." I say and smile towards her.
"R-really?" she stutters in disbelief.
"Yes, really." Her ears perk up to normal and her face wears a grin of happiness. Suddenly, she trots up and hugs me.
"Thank you, that means a lot... Travis." Starlight grabs me and softly hugs me while slowly rubbing her face on my chest.
That's forward... but very cute. I might have to see how this goes... I gently hug her back and after a few seconds break it off.
"So, Starlight, tell me more about you. " I say, implying the new her.
"Oh you know, I just enjoy the sunsets, making every moment great." She says still smiling.
"Hey have a seat on the couch. Have you ever tried human sodas?" I ask remembering the Pepsi in the fridge.
"Oooh! No I have not! I'm guessing you have some..." Her voice perks up as she takes a seat on the couch, hearing the word soda.
"You would be right! My dad works for a soda company, so... I don't have to pay the import tax!" I say as I walk over to the fridge to grab two of the foreign drinks.
"I'm guessing that's how you got that meeting with the Princess."
"Yes, you would be correct. The taste is a bit strong, but still very sweet. Go on! Try it!" I laugh as I open it for her, while she grabs it in her magic. Woah! I can never get over how cool magic is!
Starlight puts the can up to her lips and takes a sip...
"Wow, that was pretty good! I'm impressed. Strong, sweet, sparkly, with a hint of ginger. I love it!" She says as she takes a much bigger swig of the drink.
"Yeah I practically grew up with this stuff. That and metal!"
"I have to listen to this metal music... I've been hearing a lot of students... especially ponies, talking about it."
"I can promise it will be life changing, just make sure to have an open mind to the screaming."
"Wait. Screaming? You're telling me they scream in this music?" Starlight glimmer hovered her drink in front of her face, jaw dropped, completely baffled.
"Yes..?" I say uncertain of her response.
"I'm amazed! That's so radical! Put it on! I like a challenge."
Hearing this, I set my drink down and walk over to my stereo. Carefully, I flip through my CDs, making sure to select the best band for Starlight's first experience with metal. Lamb of God... no. Hmm. Metallica? no. I know! Megadeth! My fingers traverse the row of music and pick out 'Rust In Peace' by Megadeth.
The song "Holy Wars... the Punishment Due" begins to play as I sit down next to Starlight.
"This is Megadeth. The song is about fighting pointless wars." The music had Starlight Glimmer hostage. Her eyes widened and her ears shifted directions as she tried to understand what was going on. Her face looked puzzled as the intricate riffs pierced her ears.
"I kinda like it... a lot actually. Has a lot more soul than Sapphire Shores that's for sure..."
Three Megadeth Songs Later.....
"I really enjoyed that Travis!"
"I'm really glad, many people; let alone ponies, like it." I say with a large grin, impressed by her openness.
"Hey want to go out into town for dinner? Don't worry, I will pay." Starlight says with confidence as I look at her unsure of what to do.
"Well I don't want to impose, but I would love to go."
"Well... you are not imposing at all. I know this hayburger joint that would be perfect." Her voice reflected the eagerness in her eyes, excitement seemed to beam from her response.
"I can't eat hay, do they serve salads or human food?" I ask just a tad bit curious.
"Yes they have options for humans, quit your worrying!" Starlight teased at my expense, calming my nerves. I gathered some of my bits and we headed to the elevator. While we were walking, a few ponies started staring at Starlight. I do kinda feel bad for her... but she's really growing on me. I am defiantly going to like being her friend.
The elevator opened up, almost full of ponies, but we squeezed in anyways. We stood in the back corner. I looked over at a few mares that were on the opposite side of the small area, I noticed they looked at me and giggled. Starlight was slightly taken aback by the mares and decided to scoot a tad bit closer to me. The group of mares started whispering to each other and continued giggling.
"Were going to the ground floor." I say breaking the awkward silence, causing one of the ponies to push the button. The ride down got even more tense when Starlight began to rest her head on my shoulder. This brings a flurry of reactions from the group, mainly being surprised.
"Hey Travis, do you mind if we also go by Sugarcube corner after we eat? I'm really craving a cake."
"Anything you want Miss Glimmer." My reaction forces a smile from her muzzle.
Man these mares ARE brutal! That orange one over there was totally eyeing Starlight down. I just hope that Ponyville isn't all like that. I hate competition... and being stared at like a piece of meat. I have a feeling though Starlight is trying to send the message that we are together. I mean look at how she's resting her head on my shoulder! We walked out of the elevator and into the lobby. Starlight walked a little ahead of me, and lead me out to the courtyard.
"Wait, before we go to the restaurant I need to ask you something..."
"Travis, I have a question..." Starlight lets out after a second of thought.
"Ok, ask away." I respond after a painstakingly awkward second.
I bet this has to do with her feelings...
"So... There's no other way of saying this I'm afraid, so I'm just going to say it. I feel like I am interested in you..." Her face lets out a dramatic blush but her eyes remain locked with mine. "I understand we just met, but I just wanted to say that."
That was really sweet...
"Starlight... I-I don't know what to say..." I let out after wondering deep in thought for a few minutes.
"It's ok Travis... I shouldn't have said that this early."
"No I'm glad you did, I just need some time to think about how I feel. But I'm not saying I'm not open to it..." I look up back into her eyes to see her ears perk up again and a giddy smile shows on her muzzle.
"Really? Y-you're n-not d-discrediting it?"
"Nope, I'm considering it... AAAnd I'm sure we will have a wonderful time on our date. " That really stunned Starlight as her jaw hung open, baffled. I scooted closer to her on the grass and hugged her. "I think it's sweet of you to trust me with your feelings so early. Want to know how I feel?"
"U-uh Yeah!" Starlight placed her head on my chest as we sat in the grass, practically cuddling each-other.
"I think you're a very beautiful mare, and you seem to be very honest. Furthermore, I want to see how this date turns out." I felt Starlight sigh a breath of relief, and I did as well. It felt nice to be honest for once. Truthfully I have to say I really am interested in Starlight, even though she is a little bit of a misfit. Heck. I'M a misfit! Metalheads aren't exactly the biggest on fitting in.
I looked at starlight in her eyes and said "Let's go out to eat I'm getting pretty hungry."
"I agree, but I would really like for you to accompany me." She said as we got up.
"But I thought I was accompanying you?" I say confused at what she was getting at.
"Well... It's when a stallion extends his hoof, so that the mare can hold onto it while they walk."
"Like this?" I ask as I stick my elbow out, creating a triangular hole for Starlight's hoof.
"Yes! Do you do that on Earth too?" She asks as she puts her hoof in my arm and bends it towards herself.
"Well, we just call it being a gentleman." I ask as I laugh at the now blushing Starlight Glimmer. She takes a moment to get adjusted and starts uncontrollably giggling. "What's so funny?" I started laughing along.
"Oh it's nothing... hahaha!" She starts laughing again, but harder than last time.
"Really? Just nothing?" I say laughing along with her.
"Oh well I'm just happy, that's all." She says calming down as I look down in her eyes. She looks so happy right now... she's adorable...
"So let's continue to the restaurant then!" I say happily as we begin to walk to the eatery.
The walk over to the restaurant was very enjoyable. I really enjoyed accompanying Starlight, I found it very... chivalrous. It turned a lot of heads too, probably because I was a human and she was a pony. These bipedal relationships aren't exactly new, but I think that ponies just like staring. These ponies are generally very nice, but they like to gossip soooo.... they stare... a lot. We were almost at the restaurant when I noticed a flower stand in the street.
"Hey Starlight."
"Yes Travis?" she asks as I stop walking.
"I need to use the bathroom, can you wait here for me?"
"Well we aren't far from the restaurant...-"
"-Sorry some things can't wait!" I say as I walk off to go to the flower stand. I duck behind an ally until she sits down on a bench next to a lamppost. My demeanor shifts as I encounter the three mares running the stand.
"Hello! What can I do for you today?" The red maned mare asked.
"Hey I would like 13 roses."
"Aww, I would be delighted to get them for you!" She reached down behind the counter and asked "so might I ask who these are for?"
"They are for a certain mare I'm interested in..." I say slowly with a blush forming on my cheeks.
"oh I see, can't even say her name... I bet she's amazing..." She adds as she reemerges with the flowers. "Allrighty! That will be 5 bits."
I reach in my pocket and pull out the amount. "Thank you, and hopefully I'll be seeing you again."
"I hope so as well! Have fun!" And with that I grabbed the flowers and walked back the way I came. My footsteps quickened as I see Starlight looking the other direction. I quickly put the flowers behind my back and continue on my way to meet her.
"Hey Starlight! Sorry it took so long..."
"Is that something behind your back...?" She asks with a skeptical look on her face.
"It may be..."
"What is it?"
"It may be... Something to you..." I say as I pull out the flowers from behind my back. Starlight gasps and covers her muzzle.
"You... For M-me?!" She says panting as her face matched the color of the item in my hand.
"Yes Starlight, I got these for you! But wait there's more..." I reach in and grab the 13th rose and break most of the stem off. I put the dozen roses in her hoof, then take the shortened rose and place it in her mane. The now speechless Starlight, sat there looking at me with tears starting to form.
"You didn't have to do this..."
"I feel like I did. Besides, I thought you might enjoy your natural beauty being highlighted upon." I flirt as she sets her flowers down. I took a seat next to her on the bench and stared into her eyes. "You radiate more beauty than the stars out tonight..."
Our eyes deadlocked on each other.
"Travis... I'm so happy right now... No pony has ever done this for me..."
"Well I'm glad I was able to."
We slowly inched closer to each other, then I felt Starlight put her hooves around my neck. We never broke eye contact, we were so in touch with one another, I felt like we were one. Her muzzle was almost pressed on my face when I realized what we were about to do... Her lips and my lips suddenly touched. She locked herself on me, and I on her... I closed my eyes and started to bask in the moment. For two whole minutes time stood still, no one around mattered... but her.
"That felt amazing Travis..." Starlight said breathlessly as we sat there in eachother's embrace.
"I could feel the fireworks launching!" I laughed along with her. The kiss was great, but something was off... I felt... Watched.
"Well Travis, we need to get to the restaurant before they close. Want to accompany me there?" She asked, breaking off my train of thought.
"Of course! Yes, Let's." I put my arm out again and we begin to stroll to the restaurant. As we walked, she began to rest her head on my arm. "I see you are making yourself comfortable." I said causing her to break out in laughter.
"I can stop if you want..." She says back in a teasing voice.
"Well... I may enjoy that you do that. Soooo you should do whatever you want."
"Fine by me Mr. handsome." She flirts as the eatery comes into view.
Five Minutes Later...
"I think I'll have the apple salad." I say looking at the stallion waiter.
"Very well, what you like ma'am?" The waiter asks Starlight.
"I'll take a hayburger, some hayfries, and water to drink."
"Wonderful! I'll have your drinks right out!"
Starlight looked up at me and smiled shyly. Her grin was very contagious, as I quickly smiled back at her. All things considered I felt like I liked her. She just sat there, and look at me. Her eyes let out the emotion of passive content, with a strong hint of admiration. I felt like I had found someone who I can love. No human has ever looked upon me like this... no one ever wanted to give me a chance to love them. Whatever, screw humans. Ponies are cuter. Starlight is cuter.
"What are you thinking about?" I ask after a couple seconds go by.
"I was just thinking about something, nothing too important. The moon looks nice tonight, wouldn't you say?"
"I agree. I sit under it and think sometimes."
"Wait, you do that too?" She asks in surprise.
"Yes I do."
"Wow, I thought I was the only pony." She giggles a little bit. "Do you have a favorite color?"
"Hmm... Maybe purple and blue?" I ask thinking about colors I liked. "I don't really have a favorite, but I do like those."
"I see, so what is your favorite hobby?" She asks as I slightly adjust the silverware on the table.
"I like metal music, attending concerts, and just do whatever pretty much. I like doing new things, getting new experiences."
"How noble, I have to say I like that attitude... Say if I was to knock on your door, and you were free... would you be up for whatever?" She asks as I look back up at her.
"Of course! Sounds like fun to me, I hate just sitting around." I say as I notice her exited posture. "I'm more than happy to go on adventures. I have a question for you now, Starlight."
"Yes?"
"Do mares always make the moves on the stallions?" I ask out of curiosity.
"Well, generally yes."
"Were you embarrassed when I invited you over to my dorm?" Her face blushed a little as her eyes darted off to the side.
"Not exactly... a very traditional mare might have been by that request. It's alright though, I'm pretty understanding." She said a little more confidently.
"Well do you want me to be relaxed? You know, let you lead." I ask nonchalantly.
"I kind of would... so yes. I read up about your culture... and to lay down the lead for me... thank you." She smiled as we noticed the waiter come back with our food and drinks.
"Your salad sir... and your hayburger with fries. Call me if you need anything! Enjoy!" The waiter placed our meals down and walked off.
One Salad Later...
"I feel I ate too much!" Starlight and I laughed.
"And somepony wants to go to sugarcube corner too..." I teased as she placed the bits on the table.
"Alright Mr. Handsome, just so you know, I'm always in the mood for sugarcube corner!" She teased back. "Now Travis, would you be kind enough to escort this young mare to said destination?" I saw her crack a grin as I extended my arm to her.
"Let's go Miss Beautiful..." I tease as she giggled. We walked over to the sweets shop, looking like a couple that had been together for months. When we arrived at sugarcube corner a pink pony opened the door for us.
"Hi pinkie!" Starlight says to the pink mare.
"Hi Starlight! Ooooh! Who's this?! Is he somepony new! I really like meeting new ponies! And WHAT!? He's accompanying you?! How in the whutah?!" Pinkie practically explodes with excitement on the spot.
"Pinkie Pie! Calm down! He's my date, and his name is Travis. Travis, meet Pinkie Pie.. a friend of mine."
"Nice to meet you Pinkie Pie." I say calmly, as I give her a smile.
"Nice to meet you too! In case you don't know I know EVERYPONY around here! I just like to know people."
"I see! You must be the life of the party as well." I say trying to get on her good side. I honestly don't want to know what happens when you piss her off...
"Party?! I'm the number one party pony ANYWHERE! We need to throw you a party Travis!"
"Umm, maybe a different day Pinkie, but I would love to attend if you did decide to throw one." I say nicely.
"So Pinkie, I want my usual... Travis dear, what would you like?" Starlight asked me as I looked through the glass at the sweets.
"I'll take that cupcake right there." I say as I point to a cupcake that has green frosting.
"Good Choice Travis! Mrs. Cupcake makes these with extra amounts of love!" The pink pony said as she took Starlights bits.
I took my cupcake and sat down at a table, waiting for Starlight to join me. Not too long afterwards, she sat down with a slice of haycake. Haycake seemed bland to me, like seriously, it was a hay flavored cake... with no icing. Starlight seemed to really enjoy it though, she was eating it very fast. On the other hand I was eating my cupcake rather slow. I liked cupcakes, but my salad had somewhat filled me up from earlier.
"You must like hay..." I say starting up a conversation.
"Yes, I do! The stuff is pretty great, the taste is not too exotic... but not too bland either. You should try some!" She offered me a piece of her cake.
"As much as I'd love to try... I can't digest it."
"Aww, I'm sorry... I didn't know..." Starlight looked very concerned. She must have thought that offended me...
"It's fine, it wasn't offensive." I smile back at her.
"That's nice to know, thank you dear." She smiled, reflecting my face. "I really enjoyed tonight... I also have a question..."
"I enjoyed tonight a lot as well... Ask away."
"Would you be my special somepony?" She blushed as we locked eyes.
"Yes, Yes I would."
