Flitter and Cloudchaser Read a Whole Box of Stories
Flitter stared at the last move Cloudchaser had made. Should she capture Cloudchaser's king while overthrowing her queen, or just take the king before Cloudchaser did? Suddenly a loud knock on the door shattered Flitter's thoughts. Cloudchaser zoomed over to answer it. Without a moment to lose Flitter took Cloud's king and screamed "Check!"
"Nopony's here!" Cloud called from the door. "It's just a silly brown paper box!" Flitter looked at her.
"Then bring it in here! And are you sure Derpy isn't there? If she really is, do say hello for me!" Flitter called.
"Fine, I'll bring it in, but Derpy wasn't there, I tell you. Nopony was." Cloud said, shaking her head.
"C'mon open it, I wanna see what it is!" Said Flitter, who had shoved the chess board into it's box messily. Cloud got a sharp knife from the kitchen and tore the the box open.
"It's just paper!" Cloud exclaimed. Flitter grabbed the box and looked in it.
"No, stupid! It's a bunch of notes and stories. The note on top says: My dear Cloudchaser and Flitter, I want you to read every single story in this box. But there are rules. #1, you may only read one story a day. #2, you must burn THIS NOTE ONLY. Happy reading! Wow. The first one's called, The Box. Odd."
The Box
The doorbell rang. Thunderlane and Flitter raced to the door. There on the doorstep was an enormous, brown paper box. What could be inside? They took the box into the bathroom. Flitter carefully put her ear close to the box. She thought she heard a voice whisper, “CAKE!”
“Hurry. Open the box!” screamed Thunderlane. To their amazement, Princess Celestia leaped out of the box and started singing “On A Cake Break, Bro.” There was nothing else to do but sing along.
Flitter and Cloud looked at eachother quietly.
"Who wrote this?" Flitter whispered after a while. Cloud shook her head, confused.

Cloudchaser awoke with a start in the night. She rubbed her eyes sleepily. Cloud looked outside the window. It was still dark out. Cloud flung her comforter over itself and stepped into her slippers and pulled on her bathrobe, tying a hard knot. She padded into her bathroom and filled a glass with cold, refreshing water. She gulped the water down and put the cup down where she had left it before, and padded back to bed. She gave her wings a couple of much needed stretches and climbed bank into her warm, cozy bed. But Cloud couldn't sleep. She turned this way, and then that way. She sighed. It was gonna be a lonnng night.

"Morning Cloud! Today you can read the story." Flitter greeted. Cloud gave a sleepy nod. She flew to the dining room and got the box.
"Ahem. Today's story is called: The Great Dough Disaster As you put it, odd."
The Great Dough Disaster
Last summer, my friend Thunderlane got a job at Sugarcube Corner. For the first few weeks, he scrubbed the floors, dusted on the shelves, and unloaded 40-pound sacks of flour from the delivery trucks.
Finally, Pinkie Pie told Thunderlane that she would teach him to make bread. “Now, pay attention, Thunderlane,” she said. “I'll make the first batch of dough. Then you can make the next batch while I go to Sweet Apple Acres.”
Poor Thunderlane! He had a habit of letting his mind wander. When Pinkie Pie left for Sweet Apple Acres, he started to mix the ingredients. “Let me see,” he said. “I think she put in 20 packages of yeast.”
A short while later, the dough started rising. It kept on rising. Thunderlane tried to cover it with a lid, but the dough wouldn't stop rising. It was everywhere! “What can I do?” thought Thunderlane.
Just then, Pinkie Pie returned from Sweet Apple Acres. "Thunderlane!" she screamed. “What have you done?”
“It's not my fault!” cried Thunderlane. “The dough just started rising and wouldn't stop!”
Pinkie Pie had to let him go. Now Thunderlane has a job making rainbows. I don't think he'll ever eat bread again, let alone make it.
"Why do all these stories have Thunderlane in them?" Cloud wondered, suddenly wide awake.
"I have no idea. . . ." Flitter said, wide eyed.
