Inner Demons
Chapter 1

The room was almost pitch black. The only source of light in the room was a single candle. I sat on the floor, staring at a picture of a small colt with a sky blue coat, leaf green hair, and orange eyes full of life. A tear slid down my cheek looking at his smile.
This was all your fault.
"I'm sorry, I just couldn't..." I began to say, but more tears leaked out of my eyes.
He never cared for you. You were nothing to him.
"I was nothing, wasn't I?" I began. "And yet he still loved me, despite who I am." A single tear slid from my eye as I remembered all the fun memories I shared with him. He was always there for me, no matter what. He accepted me and saw past my flaws when no pony else could. I will never forget all those times he offered me his kindness...
It was autumn, and the leaves were already on the ground. I picked one of the leaves up and examined it. It once used to be a fresh green leaf, but as the colors changed, it grew wrinkled and fell to the ground, abandoned and forgotten, just like me. I sat at the edge of the cliff and looked the cliff.
Ponies of all ages were playing, their expressions showed pure happiness. I remembered the day when I, too, tried to be like them, but all they did was throw me away. They called me Demond Mare and treated me like an outcast, a freak. Perhaps I am. From that day I knew I was different. I knew that I could never be accepted into their society. So here I stay, hidden in the darkness. The shadows are where I belong, now.
I gazed towards the sky, admiring the perfect shade of blue and the soft, fluffy clouds that reminded me of cotton candy. I heard soft hoofsteps approaching near me. Curious, I turned to see a colt with a gray coat and blue hair with matching blue eyes. "What are you doing here?" The colt asked.
"Shouldn't I be asking *you that?" I said. It's not everyday that a small colt walks up to.*
"Are you all alone? I saw you from down there," he pointed below the cliff. When I didn't reply, he asked, "Will you be my friend?" My shock only lasted a mere second before I returned to my serious expression.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"My name is Silver Hoof," he replied.
"Why would you want to be friends with a monster like me?" I asked. I turned away and gazed at the sky once more.
"You seemed lonely, so I thought you could use a friend. I don't want anypony to be alone," Silver replied. I looked into his big, innocent eyes. He looked like he was at the age of eight. This small, little colt asked to be friends with me, something nopony has ever said to me before. Could he really like me for the way I am? Could he understand me like others never have?
"I am Violet Magic," I finally said. It was the day I made my first friend.
I looked at his picture with a smile. I didn't notice the river of tears that escaped my eyes. I hugged the picture tight and let an ocean of tears escape me. If only I could have protected him. If only I could keep him safe. If only that night never happened...
It has been five years since I met Silver. The flowers bloomed once more in the fresh summer sky. Soon, a dark blanket covered the sky, and twinkling lights sprung around.
"Where are you going, Silver?" I asked. I was barely able to keep up with him. He has grown fast over the years.
"I want to show you something!" He replied. Silver ran into the woods and jumped over all the rocks and fallen trees. I ran after him, the moon was my only guide. I dodged my obstacles and found him near a small pond. It was already midnight, it wasn't safe to be out in a time like this. That thing Silver wanted to show me better be important.
"You came here all the way to show me some pond?" I asked.
"It's not just a pond. It's a magical pond. There's a rumor in school that it shows you your future!" Silver replied. I crouched down next to him and looked at the pond. The reflection of the moon shined in the water.
"Since when did you believe rumors?" I asked. "There was a big rumor about me, and you didn't believe that, did you?"
"That's different since I know that you couldn't be the evil monster that everypony claimed you to be. Nopony's evil, they just need a friend, that's all," Silver replied. I chuckled lightly. After all these years, Silver hadn't changed one bit. He was still the innocent, naive pony that he was ever since he has young.
The was a calm stillness in the air. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Everything felt so calm. Until I suddenly, I heard twigs snapping. I quickly glanced around to see green glowing eyes in the dark. Timber wolves. They were common in the area and only came out at night. Before I had time to react, they growled and charged for Silver, holding their sharp claws and opening their pointy teeth to devour him.
"SILVER, LOOK OUT!" I yelled, but I was too late. My eyes changed into a dark shade of black as trickling purple and dark magic circled me. I cast my black magic at the timber wolves, wiping them out completely. My emotions consumed my until I made sure every one of them were dead and gone. Once my eyes turned back to their normal green, I rushed to Silver.
"Silver! Silver, wake up! Wake up!" I called out. His was leaking blood everywhere, his eyes were closed. By that time I knew it was too late. I carefully laid his head down and bent my head. I didn't protect him. This was all my fault, I didn't save him.
That's right, you didn't save him. He's gone because of you. Every pony who comes near you will suffer death. You are and always will be an evil monster.
I put my head in my hooves and cried an ocean of tears. I'm sorry, Silver, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry...
