Chapter 1: Roughing it isn’t Comfort

Summer Vacation typically meant doing a whole lot of nothing, maybe going with Sunny Flare’s Family’s lakefront property and camping out for a week or two because her dad would spring and rent a truck and a travel trailer. It also meant wondering just how many had slept, and did other things, on the bed that she was supposed to claim.
It was a little different now. Sour wasn’t in a huge hurry to leave and head to a week of swimming, hiking, and hoping that she wasn’t sleeping in someone else’s genetic sacrifice to the sheet and sock gods. The past month had been a little crazy. Second’s cousin coming to live here in Canterlot City, his brother First coming out to his parents, and then the fact that he was spending more time with her than at home.
She thought that maybe he was getting into trouble, but a visit to the Person household ended with her being given a condom, Second’s mother looking pleadingly into her eyes, and begging her to please keep Second straight. The fact that they’d be starting college soon was sounding better and better. He needed away from that toxicity, and she wanted to see if she could make it in the real world.
Sunny Flare had already filled out an application, and been accepted, to Everton University’s fashion program. She’d put in, and been accepted, as an undeclared freshman on an archery scholarship. And her other friends had been accepted in programs in Everton. She sighed, leaned back, and looked up at the ceiling in her room.
It was odd, but she felt satisfied. It wasn’t like she was complete, or anything like that, but if this was her summer before heading off to college, she could take it. Of course Cinch had made a huge speech about how in the very near future we would need to be able to rely, deal with, and work with those of a lesser social standing that it was necessary for our graduation ceremony to be shared with Canterlot High. That was her excuse, but everyone had heard different. Superintendent Sombra had cracked down on her hard for turning the Friendship Games into straight up competition, and less about creating new friends. She could have swore that she heard Cinch mutter how Principal Celestia was having, improper relations, with Superintendent Sombra, but honestly Sour figured if that was the case then Principal Celestia would have said something about the games well before now.
Still, it wasn’t bad, and Fluttershy was actually more than happy to include her in on her friends festivities. Well include her, Sunny, Indigo, Lemon, Sugarcoat, Second, and Third on their after graduation party. It was fun, but now, now was a lazy summer, full of nothing much more to do than just relax, and enjoy the last summer she was going to have before going to college.
“Sour!”
She heard her mother’s voice, and she sighed. Getting up she walked down stairs, still dressed in her clothes from yesterday, the same clothes she went to sleep in, and looked at her mother who was busy grabbing three or four bags.
“Mom, what’s going on?”
Her mother walked toward her, the brightest most manic smile stretched across her face that she’d ever seen.
“We did it! I thought that your father was joking, completely joking, but he actually did it!”
“Mom, take a moment, breathe, and relax please. And then tell me why you’re acting like you’ve taken a year’s worth of sugar and caffeine!”
She smiled, and walked Sour over to the front door, where outside she saw the travel trailer they’d used last year. In front of it was the same truck they’d used last year as well. She raised her eyebrow at it, and part of her wanted to ask what her mother was getting so worked up about.
“We’re going camping?”
Her mother giggled, actually giggled, like a little girl, “Yes, but it’s more than that!”
She watched as her father came into the house. A bright smile on his face, and he looked out at the trailer.
“Well, it’s in better condition than it was last year, so that’s saying something,” he said before he smiled at Sour.
“Seriously, do you both secretly take meds and forget to tell me about it?!”
He shook his head, walked over, and took a seat, “Sour, they had that RV, or travel trailer, up for sale. It and the truck. The Trailer is eight years old, and at that point they like to get rid of them. It’s the same with the truck.
She tried to make some sense of what they were going on about, “We own a travel trailer?”
Her mother took a seat across from her, “We own an all season travel trailer. Sour, your father and I were talking about your living arrangements at Everton University. The dorms would be fine, but we thought that you might want your own space. The University actually has several places that allow hookups for small trailers like these, or those tiny houses, so students could live on campus, but no have to feel crowded.”
She looked at them, and sighed, “Fine, but I’m getting a new mattress and bedding. I don’t want to lie where someone has given any sacrifices to the sheet and sock gods.”
Her mother looked at her and then shuddered, “Sour’s got a point. We’re getting new Mattresses for it.”
“Sweetheart..”
Her father shut up when her mother gave him a look.
“Right, new mattresses. We’ll do that before we head out. Which reminds me, the Flares have invited us back out to their campsite again this year, but apparently it’s going to be something of a larger undertaking.”
Sour’s eyes drifted over to her father.
“Well, from what I understand most of your friends are going. The last summer before college.”
Her eyes widened as she thought about it. Everyone would be there, and they would all get to hang out…
“What.. what about Second?”
Her mother gave her a half smile, “He’s been invited, and he wants to come…”
“But?”
Her father looked at her.
“Sour, we don’t know what’s going on in his family, and most likely that’s a good thing, but apparently there’s some kind of drama about his coming and his parents coming. I don’t know what it is, but it’s a fairly big deal. I like Second, exceptionally well, and I think that he’s good for you, but I can tell that he’s wary of having his parents around the rest of us.”
There it was. He wanted to come, but he didn’t want to subject everyone to his parent’s crap. She knew that he was dealing with all of their expectations, hopes, and talks about carrying on the family line from his mother and father. She sighed, pulled out her phone, and dialed.
“Sour?”
She loved the sound of his voice, “Sweetie, we’re going camping. All of us are going camping. And that means you too! So buck up and let your parents know!”
“Sour,” he began and she walked out of the room. She knew what was going through his head, what he was about to argue about, and she was going to cheat. It wasn’t often she did anything like this, especially since he’d seen everything already, but she walked upstairs, to her bedroom, opened the door, took off her top, and took a breath.
“I’m Skyping you.”
He didn’t finish before she pressed end, activated Skype, and she saw his face appear from the camera on his smartphone. His eyes widened as she stood there in her bra.
“You’re going camping. Tell your parents about the trip. Or this is the last time you see them without a top on them!”
He swallowed back his nervousness.
“O...Okay, I’ll tell them.”
“That’s my sweetie, I’ll see you tonight!”
She closed the app, grabbed her top, and walked down stairs.
“He’s coming!”
An Hour and a half Later
The mattress store, or actually Sorta Firm’s Mattress Emporium, was expansive. Sour could see her father looking toward some of the more generic mattresses available, but her mother was looking at pillowtop mattresses, really nice pillowtop mattresses. She followed behind them, thinking about college, about living alone, and she rubbed her right temple.
She was looking forward to going to college, to living on her own, but at the same time she had been planning on living in the dorms. Moreover she had planned on seeing if she could get a dorm room with Sunny. The trailer would have more room, and it would be better suited for long term stay. Slowly she began to wonder if Sunny would want to stay with her in it. At least that way she wouldn’t be completely alone, and at the same time they’d be able to have more room than they would in a dorm.
If nothing else she knew she could talk to Sunny about it.
“Sour, what do you think of this?”
She walked toward her mother and found that she’d found a decent mattress for the full sized bed, and what looked like a couple of nice twin mattresses as well. She watched her father come over, look at what she’d found, look at the prices, swallowed, and walked over to the salesman. After a short exchange, and apparently her father haggling for a better price, they left with four new mattresses, her mother did insist they get a three quarter mattress for the hanging bed, and left Sorta Firm with the old ones to be donated or discarded.
Over the next three hours they went Buy and Bag, the new chain Superstore, got over a week’s worth of groceries, new bedding, new pillows, and then finally they were on their way out. Sour sit on the rear bench seat of the super cab truck; she had her phone out sending a group text to everyone, and she was reading the responses.
Dude, like mom and dad so totally said we can do this camping thing, and dad’s digging out the family tent. Mom’s giggling and talking about some snake concert or something that they went to back in the day. Parents are weird, but it’s awesome that we’re going to be camping together. So, what do you dudes want to do when we get there?
A couple moments later another one popped up, this time from Indigo.
I say we hit the water, swim, and see who’s fastest!
And then Sugarcoat decided to add her two cents in.
Actually, before we do anything our parents are most likely going to need us to help set up a camp. Plus I’m certain we’re going to be too exhausted to do much competition swimming.
And then Sunny finally chimed in.
Girls, there’s going to be plenty of time to swim, and anything else we want to do. We’ve got an entire week together, but tonight, I’m thinking that we should do s’mores and the campfire. It’s sort of a tradition, and I want want to share it with all of you.
They pulled up to the area where they were supposed to be staying, and she looked out to see the lake just off in the distance. Mr. and Mrs. Flare was there and both of them seemed more than happy to help her parents find a good spot to set up.
“Well, I must say this is the first time we’re going to have so many families out here. It’s actually quite refreshing.”
Sunny walked over to Sour and gave her a quick hug, “So, Second called and said that his parents are agreeing to come. I’m not sure what you did to change his mind, but Dearie, I’m glad you did. He needs this break just as much as the rest of us.”
Sour nodded, and turned around to see Lemon Zest’s family pull up in their family SUV, then Indigo Zapp’s family pulled up in a hi-bred pulling a popup trailer, not far behind them was Sugarcoat’s family pulling up in a motorhome. Finally she saw something she never would have expected to see.
A station wagon, an actual station wagon that was pulling a small trailer. The false wood paneled car pulled up to park, and stepping out of the driver’s seat was Mr. Person. Sour took a moment to really take in what she was seeing.
He was wearing slacks, a short sleeve white shirt, button-up vest, and a pair of dress shoes. On the passenger’s side Mrs. Person stepped out with a wind bonnet covering her hair, a pair of oversized sunglasses, a bright green skirt, white top, and a pair of flats that matched her skirt. From the back she saw Second getting out.
“Mr. Flare?”
Mr. Flare smiled and walked over.
“Thanks for the invitation.”
Sour stood there completely surprised at how personable Mr. Person was being. It didn’t take long for Mrs. Person to walk over and begin chatting with some of the mothers. For her part Sour almost wanted to see if it was going to be a trainwreck, but what was more important was her fiancé who was currently unhooking their trailer, blocking it, and setting it up. She walked toward him.
Since they started dating Second had grown as a person, and recently with his taking a part-time job he’d been getting a little more built, but he wasn’t showing it off. Most of the time if he wasn’t wearing his Crystal Prep uniform he was wearing some loose fitting t-shirts and jeans.
“Please, please, please don’t let them get started about anything while we’re here. Just, just let them get along with everyone, have fun, and not start any fights.”
She slowed down and listened to him.
“I just really don’t want to screw up anyone’s vacation, or anything like that, so please, just please let them behave.”
“Second?”
He stopped, his entire body stiffening, and then he turned around to face her with that smile of his.
“Hi Sour,” he said as he rubbed the back of his head, “Everything oka…”
She didn’t let him finish the sentence before she kissed him. She wasn’t one for PDAs, but she knew he needed it. He practically melted from the kiss, his arms wrapping around her and holding her tightly as they kissed.
After a moment she broke it and looked at him, “Now, stop worrying. Or I can really give you something to worry about!”
He grinned at her, “So, this is our first time camping.”
She smiled and took his hand, leading him over to where everyone else was at.
“Second! Good to see you dude!”
“It is pleasant to see that you’ve managed to get over your irrational phobia of your parents humiliating you.”
“Alright! We’re so going to make this an interesting Swimming competition!”
“Dearie, I believe what we’re attempting to say is that we’re very glad you’re here.”
He smiled, and Sour was glad to see him relax.
“After we get everyone set up, I believe we should start gathering wood for the bonfire. Afterwards we’ll get it going, make s’mores and maybe share a few campfire stories.”
The next three hours were spent on each family helping to get each other set up. After some serious work it was decided that Mr. Zest’s ‘family’ tent wasn’t suitable to house anyone. Mainly because of the huge hole he’d forgotten about when he put it away, in 1991. Since they couldn’t use the tent, and because they didn’t have much other choice, they almost considered living, until Sour’s mom spoke up.
“Nonsense, the three of you can share room with us. We don’t mind, and we’ve got plenty of bed space.”
Lemon grinned at Sour, “Roomie!”
The day turned to evening, evening to night, and the bonfire began to light up the area. A huge bag of Staypuff Marshmallow Mare Brand Marshmallows began to circulate along with several sharpened sticks for them to be shoved on. The group of parents and now recently graduated adults took a seat near the campfire, letting their marshmallows toast, laughing, putting the now melted marshmallow on chocolate and graham crackers, and after a few minutes it was Mr. Flare that stood up.
“We’re so glad to have all of you here. It’s no secret that we wanted to make this special for our children, and give them a chance to really spend some time together before college starts. Traditionally, we’d typically share a story or two, and tonight is no different. So please, if anyone has a good story we’re willing to listen.”
Indigo Zapp began with a story about a headless hiker out in the forest just outside of town. She grinned as she neared the end of the story, “And they say that the hiker knows her own head is forever missing, forever gone, so she’s determined to find another one. One that will fit her perfectly, so when you sleep tonight, and if you hear the sounds of hiking boots, don’t open the door,” she then jumped up and shouted causing nearly everyone to fall back, “Because it might be her!”
There was some giggles, and some laughs about the story, and slowly it went around until it finally came to Second. He breathed out and looked at them.
“I don’t know how much of a scary story it is, but I’ve got one. All of you know how I’m working over at Silly’s Pizza and Arcade right?”
There was a collection of nods.
“Okay, well, when I first started there I met Junebug. She’d been working there for about a year at that point, and she had to wear Silly Billy, the company mascot, when there was a pizza party. She told me that there was a day when it was really slow, and the manager and everyone else, was leaving early,” he looked at the fire, “So she had to close herself. It was quiet, the animatronics were shut down, the over was quiet, and the games were all stuck on their start up screens.”
He put the s’more in his hand on his lap, “She noticed how different that place looked when it was deserted, and she wanted out. She tried to finish up, walked back to the office with the counted up till, and that’s when she heard it. The laugh,” he stopped, “The laugh from Silly Billy. It’s a goofy sounding laugh, usually played with carousel music in the background. It freaked her out, and she closed the safe, walked out the office door, and shut it, and was heading out of the front door when the laugh sounded again, this time closer. She didn’t know what to do, does she run? Does she go and hide? Does she go back into the manager’s office?”
He shook his head, “she unlocked the manager’s office, opened it, noticing for the first time that it was a large steel door, and she said as she looked behind her she saw the silhouette of Silly Billy. The big animatronic gator was walking around, laughing, and it spotted her.”
He looked back at the figure, “She closed the door again, locking it, and then she heard the door knob rattling, fists pounding on the door, and that laughter, oh that hideous laughter from the other side of the door. It was hours before the store opened again, she was stuck in the office, the phone for it outside, the computer locked, and nothing to do but listen to the sounds of Silly Billy laughing just outside of the door.”
He picked up the s’more, “She said after a few hours the sound stopped, and she barely opened the door to see it was clear. Taking the chance, she ran from the office, to the front doors, unlocked them, relocked them from the outside, and then went home. She was tempted to quit, but she said that she had to work the job because she was helping to support herself and her sister. But to this day she says that if you’re alone near Silly Billy, and no one else is watching, his eyes will follow you, because he’s waiting, patiently waiting, for that chance.”
He took a seat near Sour, and it was quite, just the roar of the fire in front of them until a burning log popped which caused almost everyone to scream and jump. Slowly a round of chuckles began circulating, but Second felt Sour’s arms on his arm. He looked to see her face buried in his shoulder. After a few minutes everyone began getting up. Mr. Flare, Mr. Zest, and Mr. Zapp put the bonfire out, and once it completely dead they stretched,
“Get ready, we’re going to have a fun filled week!”
And with that everyone headed toward their respective RV’s and settled in.
Once they were inside of her family’s new travel trailer Sour and Lemon Zest realized that they would actually be sharing the three quarter bed that was hanging over the kitchen table. The two of them got into it, and settled down. Sour watched as her friend dug out her earbuds.
“Dude, I didn’t realize that Second could tell such a good story.”
Sour nodded, glad to have her friend with her, but desperately wishing that it was Second in bed beside her.
“Want some relaxing music? Vinyl Scratch totally hooked me up with some great mixes.”
Sour shook her head, “Naw, I’m just going to catch some sleep.”
And with that her eyes closed, her mind relaxed, and she soon found herself in a peaceful place of dreams.
Out by the Camp Fire
Chapter 2: Nature Trails and you.

You moaned and stretched. The day had broke, and the bright light of it had decided to shine into your camper that you’re sharing with your parents. There was a hint of cherry lingering in the air, the smell of your father’s pipe tobacco. He only seemed to smoke when he was worried or stressed. In truth the entire thing with First had been the straw that broke the camel’s back. After they found out that he was gay it was like he died. Pictures of him were taken down, and the walls in your home was almost completely bare.
Third had mentioned it a time or two, and the fact that she was coming out tomorrow after she finished her make-up exams that Principal Celestia was allowing her to take so that she wouldn’t lag further behind. You got up, walked to the tiny bathroom and opened it. The RV rental guy had said that this was a fairly basic model, and he wasn’t joking. The entire bathroom basically doubled as a shower stall. Sighing you found the soap, a new washcloth, and a towel.
The memory of a tag line from a favorite Sci-fi book about the importance of towels comes to you and there’s a slightly nerdy laugh that escapes your lips. You turn the water on, and first thing in the morning you’re greeted with cold water. For a moment there was almost a shout from you, from the surprise, still there’s nothing but cold water, but after a few moments it slowly warmed up. The shower begins to turn warmer. You were quick, knowing that taking too long would end up draining the small hot water tank.
You finished your shower, get out, and dried off. You grabbed the clothes you brought in and hung up higher than the spray could reach. Soon you were dressed in a pair of shorts, a plain white t-shirt, and an old pair of shoes. You walked out before your parents completely woke up, and took a look around the area.
From the looks of things it appeared that nearly everyone else had gotten up early. That wasn’t such a bad thing, not really, although you did wonder what Sour was up to. A quick jog toward the lake rewarded you with seeing Sour laughing and splashing in the water. When she saw you she waved, and you returned it. You walked toward the small boat dock that stretched out to where they were, and took a seat on the side of it.
“Morning!”
“Dude! Morning! You should totally join us for a swim!”
You grin and look at them, “Actually I saw a nature trail, and how far does that thing go?”
Sunny Flare seems to think for a moment before she swims closer, “Well, I know that it goes back into the woods about half a mile, and then it splits off into two different trails. There’s one that goes further back to an old fishing cabin that my Dad built out here, and the other one just sort of loops back over here.”
“If it’s cool with you guys, I was thinking of exploring it a little bit. I really haven’t been camping before, and I’d like the chance to really look around.”
Sunny Flare smiled, “Go ahead, but Dearie, be careful. It’s not likely, since Daddy is so good about having it walked and maintained, but there could be some snakes. The last thing I’d want is for you to get snake bit.”
“Wait, I’ll come with,” Sour said as she swam over to the dock and climbed up it.
Her swimsuit was a two piece that made you think extremely impure things about your fiancée. You got to your feet, and the two of you walked toward the end of the dock where she slipped on a pair of rubber open toe sandals. As you walked you felt her hand slip into your own, and relaxed. So far your parents hadn’t done anything to embarrass themselves, or you, and that was a plus. The small camper wasn’t too bad, although the bed was a little hard, and to be honest you would have preferred to share it with Sour.
It was strange that you were actually sleeping at her house more and more often than at your own home. Well, maybe it wasn’t that strange. After all things at home just felt tense, and at least your parents weren’t trying to have you slow down on your relationship. If anything they wanted you to practically be attached to Sour. Their fears that you would turn out like your brother was written all over their faces.
You began to realize why First had acted like such a dick for so long. Having that kind of pressure on you was getting to you, but you had Sour to talk to, be with, and that helped keep you sane. First didn’t have someone like that. He had a different girl every week, and most of them seemed to like him well enough, but really it was only because he was one of the big men on campus. The only one that even got close to being what you’d consider dating material for him was Prim Hemline.
She liked your brother well enough, and they seemed to get along, but neither of them really seemed to like to sit right after they’d gotten back from a date. The realization hit you. Undoubtedly First was experimenting then, and Prim was more than willing to return the favor. You didn’t even want to know how she returned it, but it obviously helped your brother realize what it was that he really wanted.
As you walked you felt Sour leaning against you. It was nice, even if she was still pretty wet. You also realized that you had found that place that Sunny had talked about. There was the split in the path.
“Want to loop back to camp?”
Sour smiled at you, “Actually sweetie, you don’t mind I’d like to head toward the cabin. Mama’s got an itch to scratch!”
Realizing that you were going to go along with it anyway, the two of you headed deeper toward the cabin. The path wasn’t overgrown, but like the rest of the nature trail it was well cared for and maintained. That’s when you saw the cabin in the distance. Even for something that was obviously built to be nothing more than a little shack the cabin had the same care and style that he’d come to see with all of Sunny Flare’s parent’s possessions. They neared the cabin, and it was Sour that tried the door, saw it was unlocked, and pulled you into it.
She closed the door, and you felt her hands moving yours toward her hips. She then leaned in and kissed you deeply, pressing her entire body against your own. You’d learned fairly early on in this relationship that Sour was the more dominate one. Normally she was the more dominate one, almost always, but that’s when she did something out of the norm.
She broke the kiss and giggled as she looked behind you. You turned your head to see the lenght of Nylon rope hanging on a rubber covered hook.
“I want to try something,” she said before she sauntered over to the rope. She took it off, moved toward the small twin bed on a metal frame, and then grinned at you.
“Sour?”
She looked at you, then at the rope, and then again at the bed, “I want you to be in charge. I want you to tie me to the bed frame,” she said as you stared at her completely dumbfounded, “and then I want you to do what you want.”
The idea filled you with so many thoughts, but before you even began you looked at her, “How will I know if you don’t like something?”
She grinned, “I’ll say Banana. And I know you’ll listen to me. Right?!”
You nodded, and then you watched as she took off her top, followed by her bottoms. Again you were floored with just how beautiful she was. Sour’s body was a wonderland you didn’t believe you’d ever get tired of. She walked over to the bed, and you followed her. She laid down, on her stomach, and stretched out her arms. You took off your socks, Wrapping one around her right wrist before tying the rope there. You did the same to her left wrist. You backed up, your hand moving down the smoothness of her back, coming to the small of it, and then right to her athletic and wonderful rump.
You gave it just a playful slap, nothing hard, not like the first time she had you spank her, and then you spread her cheeks apart. She didn’t tense, but instead she moved her knees forward, pressing her shapely bottom into the air, and letting you see her starfish even closer.
“Anything?”
She nodded, and you looked around. It wasn’t like you carried lube, and you certainly weren’t going to do anything to hurt Sour. That’s when you saw a bottle of baby oil sitting on a dresser. You opened it, pouring some on your hand, and smearing it between her cheeks. You prodded her, gently, with a finger, seeing her reaction, and she seemed to be relaxed, or as much as you believed she would be.
Your finger slipped in further and she took in a gasp, but she didn’t say the word. Slowly you pushed in until your finger was completely inside of her. Your other hand moved down to her slit, finding her nub, and you begin to play with it. Soon one finger became two, and she was grunting, but not saying anything. You kept at it until you couldn’t handle it anymore. To their credit they moved and the two of you got dressed. Sour was slowly getting around. She wasn’t wanting to really sit directly on her rump, and to be honest that made you feel a little guilty.
“It’s okay,” she smiled, “It’s just not something we’re going do often, at all.”
