chapter 28 behind bars

“I can't believe the nerve of that mare, I didn't even feed from her all that much and she betrays me by bringing my kind’s killer into the alliance circle,”

Metamorph paced around in front of Valour’s cell, and he just sighed,

“I don't know what you see in a relationship, why can't you just put her under a spell and move on after you're satisfied?”

He said as he leaned against the cell bars.

“I don't know, because there's something about her love that feels different, like it somehow feels stronger although it's damaged,”

Metamorph sat down and leaned against the wall behind him, and sighed,

“I just want to stay with her and be able to feed and not go hungry every few days,”

Valour sat up and smirked.

“so you've tasted the power haven't you? Now you know why I was trying to get to it,”

Metamorph sat up and stared at him,

“but it's different, she said that drinking blood is like taking a part of her, but love is like energy,”

Valour’s smirk only growed.

“but you still get a boost, yes? Haven't you tried to test it out and really feel the power”

Metamorph tilted his head to the side in confusion,

“what are you talking about? I mean, I've never tried to see if I was any stronger, but that wouldn't even matter anyways,”

He looked down at his hooves

“she's really into that changeling eater, and Sapphire likes him too,”

Valour rolled his eyes and stood up, tapping the bars with a hoof to get his attention.

“hey, don't beat yourself up about the other guy, if you like her than claim her and fight for her. Back in my horde, when we found a promising food source we'd defend it and fight anyone who tried to take it, if that dragon is taking your mate and supplier of food-”

He moved closer to the bars and leaned on them to emphasize the point,

“than take. him. down,”

Metamorph stood up and walked up to the bars and grabbed one of his hooves, before giving him a firm hoof-shake.

“thank you for the advice, it's a shame that you can't be out and about, we could have talked over a couple beers,”

Valour laughed and shrugged,

“maybe when you're reclaiming your mate you can convince her to let me go,”

Metamorph thought about it for a moment and looked away from him for a moment.

“I suppose I could try to convince her, but that's if she doesn't hate me for being a jerk earlier,”

Valour just nodded,

“just try not to get killed before that,”

Metamorph laughed as he began to walk out of the castle dungeons,

“I'll try to keep that in mind,”

And will that, the long corridor once again, fell silent. As Metamorph flew off to fight for his mate.
