Nightshade woke up to the feeling of a large, and slightly heavy, dragon wing draped over her body, and she yawned as she snuggled in closer to Pyrite’s side. But just as she was getting ready to fall asleep again, the sound of buzzing wings above her shook her out of her sleep, and she immediately sat up and looked around. When her eyes fell on the silhouette of Metamorph flying in to the cave she got up and picked up Sapphire, waking her and Pyrite up.

“what's going on? Are we going to go to my first meeting already?”

Pyrite said as he yawned and looked over at nightshade, before he noticed Metamorph standing a few feet away,

“so this is what you were doing with my mate? Cuddling her and my future daughter in your cave? Like some type of hoarder?!”

Nightshade put Sapphire down near Pyrite, and he picked her up as he sat up, and she began to walk over to him.

“when I said you needed time I meant time on your own, so you couldn't avoid the blind choice you made,”

She said as she stopped a few feet in front of him, but his expression only grew more violent when she did,

“dragons like him can't be trusted, and you're my source of love not his, especially since he would rather steal a mate than get one of his own,”

He lowered his stance and pointed his horn at Pyrite,

“it's time to end this,”

He shot a direct beam of green magic at him, but a light blue shield stopped it.

“no, do you even hear yourself? This isn't right and you know it, I'm still yours and I always will be, and killing a dragon would just make your problem worse,”

He shot a few more magic blasts and started to run at him, and in a quick moment of action Nightshade jumped in front of Pyrite and made a huge magic shield to protect him, before shooting her own magic back to slow him down. The more she held the shield the darker her magic seemed to get, and a purple, smoky ora began to come from her eyes as her already slitted pupils shrunk. The sight of her changing appearance shocked him, and short after he broke his focus her magic shot him into the wall behind him, and she collapsed after finally dropping the spell. Pyrite held Sapphire close to his chest and shielded her eyes from Metamorph’s weak and limp looking form as he laid there, unmoving but still smoking from where the magic hit him. After a few painfully silent minutes, Nightshade forced herself and walked over to him, sitting next to him and resting her head on his side as tears filled her eyes.

“why in Equestria did you think that this was a good idea? I could have killed you, Pyrite would have been no better, but still, this isn't easy for me to see,”

Metamorph groaned and lifted his head slightly, opening his eyes slowly as he rasped out a response.

“I talked to Valour about what I should do, I just thought that this would work since he's so small, and I thought that after, you could have considered freeing him,”

Nightshade lifted her head and quickly wiped away her tears,

“have you gone mad? Valour is a lying and manipulative prick who only cares for himself, why did you think he told you to do this?”

Metamorph just shrugged weakly, and nightshade got to her hooves and opened her wings, which looked as though her primary feathers were replaced with bat like membranes. And without a shred of hesitation she flew out and immediately back to the castle, bolting down the halls as she went directly for the dungeons, and threw open Valour’s cell door before slamming him against the back wall.

“you fucking pile of horse shit, give me one good reason why I shouldn't just end you right now and get a more respectable ally!”

He just laughed and leaned his head closer to hers,

“I'm too handsome to simply let die?”

She pulled him off the wall and slammed him against it harder, cracking some of the stones in it.

“don't test me, you nearly killed my coltfriend by sending him to kill a dragon, and had the audacity to ask for freedom, so give me one good reason why I shouldn't end your life before I make my decision,”

He started to struggle under her hooves but he couldn't find a way out of the situation without getting hurt somehow, so he just smiled,

“you know, I did like you, but your blood was too sweet to simply give up on, I still want a taste before I die for real. But since you were so dedicated to your little insect pet, I decided to get him out of the picture first,”

Nightshade slammed a hoof down on his throat and smiled a malicious smile.

“oh, is that all?”

She pressed her hoof into his throat a little harder and he began to choke slightly,

“than I'll make your undead life as excruciating as possible, since all you are is a blood sucking leech!”

With the last few words she grabbed his head and forced it through the bars, making him get stuck between them in the process. As she walked out and locked the door to his cell, she took a moment to look at him and just smirked as she grabbed his muzzle and wiggled his now stuck head,

“how's that for small?”

She let go of him and flew of the dungeons, quickly making her way back to Pyrite’s cave.
