Vengeance at nightfall
chapter 47 a cold grip

It took a couple days for Nightshade to fully recover, and although she was bed ridden until she was told it was okay to leave, she enjoyed the occasional visitors she had. Luna would always be there before and after nightfall to sing a lullaby and tuck her in. Sapphire would bring her little treats and tell her stories. And Pyrite made it a mission to look after her and get her opinion on small decisions, and Nightshade always complied, and took his concerns for her to heart. After the third day, the doctor said it should be fine for her to go, and she made her way up to her room. When she got there, Metamorph was in there, peering at the crystallized mound on the floor.
“what is this? And why is it in our room?”
He nudged it curiously with a hoof, seeing it again just made her feel a little sick, and she folded her ears back as she approached him.
“I want to talk to you about something, it's important and totally related to this, but it may also concern you as my mate,”
He gave her a confused look, tilting his head slightly,
“why? Is there a pony trapped in there or something?”
Nightshade looked away from him as she stopped and placed a hoof on his shoulder.
“actually, it's a changeling, a changeling your mother sent to me while you were gone. At first he was only annoying, but then he started craving sex, and than I found out that he was a breeder changeling.”
She said, avoiding his eyes until she was finished,
“he forced me into and it felt so wrong, so I tried to avoid him to avoid it from happening again, but then he began to follow me. I kicked him in the muzzle when he tried to do it again, but the second time I broke his nose.”
Metamorph jumped slightly and she rested her head on his chest as she squeezed her eyes shut.
“the third time he tried, he was angry, and insisted on taking it by force. So I fought him and encased him in crystal, so I wouldn't have to kill him or see him around anymore.”
She waited a little before looking up at him, and got the expected response: shock, fear, and confusion filled his features.
“you..he...but my mom would never do that, why would she do that?”
He leaned down to her level to meet her eyes,
“breeder changelings are only meant to mount changeling queen’s, does she consider you a queen?”
Nightshade stayed silent, she didn't know how to answer him, or if she should even speak.
“is it wrong to be mounted by a breeder changeling when your mate is gone?”
She asked him, that one question could make or break her, and she was determined to know, even if it hurt her.
“for queen’s it's ok, but you aren't a queen, you are a princess and a mother. Did she even consider Sapphire or even Mantis? We have kids, she can't just do this to us,”
He leaned in closer to nuzzle her cheek softly, and she wanted so bad to hug him. But the pain in her side practically screamed not to, so she figured it wasn't the time.
“we should talk it through with her, I'm sure that she will understand why this can't happen, especially with us,”
He nodded and pulled her close, noticing the bandages on her side.
“Nightshade, why do you have bandages on your side?”
He let go of her and stepped back, and she folded her ears back and looked away again.
“he may have bit me in the fight, I just left the medical ward so it still stings a little bit,”
His facial expressions changed drastically, and he glared at the mound of crystal beside him. Before hissing at it and standing over her in a protective stance, she looked up at him and held one of his hooves.
“it's fine, I heal better when I move around anyways, so this should be fine for me to muscle through,”
She said and he stood down a little bit, still glaring at the mound.
“which one did she send to you?”
He said, his tone was cold and set off alarm bells in Nightshade's head.
“32,”
The name seemed to be familiar to him, and he looked down at her, a frown and look of worry clearly visible on his face.
“what's wrong?”
She asked him, still gripping his foreleg tightly,
“that changeling is trained to weaken Queen's and kill the ones who don't fall at her hooves, so my mom, sent you a killer.”
Nightshade's eyes widened, it all suddenly made sense; he kept staring at her, learning her habits, her angles, her behaviours, everything that would make breaking her easier if she was more weak minded. It would have worked if she hadn't had experience with those types of tactics before, but thankfully, she was a bounty hunter before she initiated the plan.
