“I figured she'd act that way towards you, but you always said negotiations always have a chance of working if you have a good argument.”
Nightshade said, as she walked with her father down to the dungeons. His quiet stoic stature made talking to him awkward, and short after saying that she remained quiet.
“you shouldn't have to do this to me, but your mother will understand in due time, she can't avoid my existence forever,”
He said, as they reached the first magic restricting cell. And nightshade couldn't help but sigh as she lock the door after he had walked into it,
“now tell me, what is this ‘family’ you referred to earlier?”
Nightshade sat in front of the cell and looked up at him,
“well, I'm married to the changeling Prince, and we had a foal together, his name is Mantis. And sapphire has grown into the most responsible big sister I have ever seen, it's almost hard to believe that she was just learning how to speak a couple years ago.”
She sighed, and a warm smile crossed her lips, until her father snorted.
“what's wrong?”
She asked him, and he leaned on the bars as he peered out at her,
“you’re with a changeling? What a waste of a strong and powerful bloodline,”
Nightshade's expression hardened, and quickly turned to a look of anger.
“he's not weak, and neither is Mantis, changelings are not a waste to be with. How dare you say such a thing? I've had a good life with him thus far, and we're showing no signs of falling apart.”
She got to her hooves and stared into her father's eyes,
“and for the record, at least changelings didn't enslave anyone to free a dangerous and deadly tribe of ponies,”
Sombra shot up and glared down at her, making her back out of hooves reach.
“don't you dare disgrace my kind, just because you were too weak minded to do something as easy as freeing the very legion of ponies that could have aided you in the take over, does not mean you have the right to insult them.”
“it's not a take over! It was a plan to truly unite Equestria and it's creatures, creatures like you. And is it weak minded of me not to want all that power forced onto me and my sister's backs? Because, last time I checked, you congratulated me on our attempt with your plan.”
Nightshade's chest heaved heavily as she tried her best to keep her composure, and avoid yelling at him.
“I wanted you back so much, and I can't have you back, not truly, if you don't stop thinking like that,”
Her throat hurt, the burning feeling of the strain on her own voice made her go quiet. And with a small sigh and a final glance at her father, she began to walk away, going back up to the castle's main level.
