(chapter 51) reconstruction

It took four full days for Sombra to fully fix his tangible body, and Nightshade tried her best to help him when she could. She was worried that someday he would go back to his evil ways, but she wanted to get her family back, and that's just what she was going to do. And after five full days it was finally happening; Sombra had fully materialized in front of Nightshade, while she sat in front of him and waited. His actual form came without the regalia she had seen him in so many times, but she didn't care, she hugged him as tightly as she could.

“I missed you so much, dad, I thought I'd never see you again,”

He hugged her back, and gently ran his hoof over her back.

“there there my child, we have no need for this type of welcome, and there are far more important things to do now.”

She stepped back and forced a tougher expression, nodding as she tried to hold back her tears, and led him out of her room.

As she walked towards Luna's room, she felt worry brimming her thoughts, and looked back at her father before turning to her mother's door.

“mom, there is someone here that would like to see you,”

Her voice cracked slightly, but she forced herself to stand strong and bold in front of her father. And the gentle clatter of hoof steps coming close to the door made a chill run down her spine, she had never felt this scared before, and it shook her very soul.

When Luna opened the door, and saw Sombra standing behind her, she felt like she was going to faint.

“y-you…you're supposed to be dead, why are you here? What have you done to get here?!”

Her mother's response to the situation made Nightshade back away slightly, but she could see that her mother was on the brink of tears. Even with the frightening grimace she wore, she looked relieved.

“mom, I brought him here, he needed me and made a promise to me, I think he deserves a chance, at least a little one,”

Luna's expression quickly turned to disappointed rage, and her eyes were focused on her daughter's.

“you brought this creature here? Nightshade, I typically love your surprises but this is one I can not be happy with. He enslaved hundreds of ponies and forced them to dig up umbrum, and you know what they would have done if they got free. You're trusting a tyrant who lies and cheats to get what he wants, he will ruin the harmony you tried so hard to build.”

Nightshade gasped, and took another step back as Luna lowered her horn,

“you can't be around him or trust him, he will just manipulate you into giving up your position in Equestria,”

She shot at him, but before the shot could reach him Nightshade threw up a shield around them both.

“this isn't right, you tried to overthrow your sister twice because of your selfish wants, he did something for his selfish wants too, but suddenly he can't be given a chance? You're being a hypocrite by doing this, you know better,”

She dropped the shield and lowered herself into a battle stance,

“he is my father and I will protect him with my life if I have to,”

Luna just stood there for a few minutes, trying to see if she was truly certain about her decision. And with an annoyed sigh, she said,

“he may stay here, but he will have to stay in a dungeon for a couple months before we properly let him have free run of the place. If he can't fix his habits before then, than we'll have no choice but to permanently rid Equestria of him,”

Nightshade didn't like the extent of the agreement, but she knew that it was at least worth her father's safety.

“fine, I will escort him there personally, if that makes you feel any better about this,”

Luna didn't say a word as she stared deeply into Nightshade's eyes, and she didn't break eye contact until she was certain that she would keep her word. And Nightshade slipped away silently, with her father at her side, as they headed to the Canterlot dungeons.
