More Than Just Sisters

One month had passed since Flitter and Cloudchaser had their problems at work and much to Rainbow's delight, they had returned to their normal, productive selves. It was a Friday afternoon when they were getting off for the week and they looked at the upcoming weather schedule for the next two weeks and noticed that the most there was supposed to be for Ponyville was a minor sprinkle the following Wednesday and the first to notice this was Cloudchaser.

Cloudchaser swatted her sister's flank with her wing and asked, "Flittie, do you see that?"

Before she took a look at the schedule she reprimanded, "Cloudchaser, we can't do this in public, especially at work! We can't swat each other like that and we can't use our pet names!"

Cloudchaser sighed, "I know, I know." She pointed her hoof at the weather schedule and asked, "Do you see that? There is next to no serious work for the next two weeks!"

Flitter asked, "Yeah, and?"

Cloudchaser replied, "We have a lot of vacation built up! We should see if we could have the next two weeks off."

Flitter sighed, "Cloudchaser, we would have had to talk to Rainbow about this two weeks ago. You know how Rainbow is, you know we have to ask for time off two weeks in advance."

Cloudchaser again pointed at the weather schedule and emphasized, "Flitter, there is next to nothing going on for two weeks! Let's just go talk to her."

Flitter sighed, "Oh alright but don't be surprised if she says no."

Cloudchaser nodded and the two took off to find Rainbow. It did not take them long to find her and unlike she was a couple of weeks ago, she was happy to see them. She said, "Hi Cloudchaser, hi Flitter." She gave them a smile and continued, "I'm glad to see my two best workers are back to their old selves. I was getting worried there a couple weeks ago."

Cloudchaser said, "Thanks but we wanted to ask you a question."

Rainbow asked, "What is that?"

Cloudchaser replied, "Well we were looking at the weather schedule and given that we are only supposed to have a one minor sprinkle over the next two weeks we were wondering if we could take a couple weeks off?"

Flitter added, "I know it is on short notice but we just thought that with there going to be so little going on that it would be a good time."

Rainbow did a facehoof. She glared at the two and sighed, "Look, you two know the rules. You should know that you have to give two weeks notice when you ask for time off."

Cloudchaser asked, "Rainbow, how many ponies are you going to need over the next two weeks? There is next to nothing going on!"

Flitter added, "Just a minor sprinkle and on the other days it is supposed to be sunny!"

Rainbow put her wing up to her face and thought for a minute. After a minute of silence she said, "Well you do make a good point and I know you do have plenty of vacation time built up." She shrugged her shoulders and continued, "Oh alright, you can have the time off but you better work extra hard once you're back because that is when the late summer rainy season starts."

Both of them rushed to Rainbow and hugged her. Flitter exclaimed, "Thank you Rainbow! You have no idea how much we appreciate this!"

Rainbow hugged them back and replied, "Don't mention it." She looked back towards their house and said, "Well I'll let you two get going. I'm sure you have plans to make"

Cloudchaser wound up swatting Flitter's flank before they took off towards home. As Rainbow watched them fly off, she couldn't help but notice how again they were flying closer together than normal and was especially curious as to why Cloudchaser would swat Flitter's flank. At first she thought, "Are they...." She broke her thought and said to herself, "Come on Rainbow! You know they're not like that!"

When the two got home the first to say anything was Flitter, "Cloudchaser, why did you swat my flank right in front of Rainbow Dash? What if she was to suspect something? What if she was to fire us over our relationship?"

Cloudchaser replied, "Flittie sweetie, I doubt she'd do that and besides, I don't think she could fire us over that."

Flitter replied, "True but still, if everypony found out about us, they'd probably cut ties with us and *gasp* run us out of town!"

Cloudchaser couldn't help but laugh, "Oh Flittie, you're so cute!" Her laugh became louder, "They're not going to run us out of town just because of our relationship!"

Flitter nervously replied, "Well I am just nervous about it." She calmed down a bit and continued, "Well I suppose we should plan on what we are going to do for our vacation."

Cloudchaser embraced her and replied, "Well I was thinking maybe we could go out of town....perhaps to Las Pegasus for some sisterly bonding time."

Flitter returned the embrace and said, "Well I don't know. You know how it is down there, normally a pony has to have reservations in advance just to get a room."

Cloudchaser suggested, "Well how about we sleep on it and when tomorrow morning arrives, we just go wherever our wings take us."

Flitter sighed, "Well alright but we better not go anywhere expensive, you know we don't have a ton of money."

Cloudchaser replied, "I know. How about we eat some supper, unwind a bit and then go to sleep."

Flitter said, "Sounds good to me."

While it was much easier for them to get the time off they wanted than they thought, figuring out what to do during that time off would be much more difficult, especially since they simply decided to take time off on the spur of the moment. That night as the two turned in for some sleep, both had ideas on where to go but wondered, would the other want to go to the same place she did.
