Love after the break up

It was a calm morning in Ponyville, inside a house/store called Carousell Boutique, Spike the dragon was in the kitchen, making breakfast for his marefriend Rarity. It was a simple one really, two scrambled eggs and a toast with some marmalade and cheese, and a glass of orange juice. He placed the food in a plate and carefully made his way to Rarity's bedroom. He knocked on the door softly, but heard snoring coming from inside, so he opened the door and shook Rarity lightly to wake her up.

-"Rarity love, I brought you breakfast in bed. Eat it before it gets cold."- Spike said.

-"Thank you my love,"- (she takes the toast and puts some egg on top, and takes a bite) -"It's really good".- she said.

-"I'm glad you liked it. I was worried I was going to burn it, but it turned out really well."- Spike said. He then asked: -"What are we going to do today?"-

-"I've got to work all morning, because I got a rather large order of dresses, but later I'm free, Sweetie Belle is staying at Applejack's house this week, so after I finish working we can enjoy ourselves and do something together."- Rarity answered.

-"Ok, so I'm going to go to Twilight's castle to see her and help her organize the library."- Spike said.

-"Splendid, darling, I should be free after 4:30."- His marefriend said.

After agreeing to return at 4:30 to the Boutique, Spike brushed his teeth, made himself a toast for breakfast and exited the shop. He walked calmly through the streets of Ponyville, clearly enjoying the sunny summer morning. He had a smile on his face when he arrived at his destination, the Palace of Friendship, and the home of his best friend, Twilight Sparkle. Not bothering to knock, he simply went inside, calling out Twilight's name.

-"I'll be down in a minute."- she said from above a staircase. -"Oh hey Spike, good to see you, how are things with you and Rarity."-

-"They are very good Twilight, how are you?"- he said hugging her.

-"I'm great Spike, what are you doing here?"- came the reply.

-"I came to see how are you and help you in anything you need."- Spike said with a warm smile.

They spend all morning and part of the afternoon organizing the castle's library. Spike basically held the books in his arms while Twilight levitated them with her magic and placed them in shelves. These where some new books that had only recently arrived at the castle, and Twilight had specifically marked this very day to store them correctly. After they finished, they ate together and talked about a lot of things. Unfortunately for Spike, he lost track of time and when he saw a clock, realized it was 7:30, and he was 3 hours late.

-"Oops I've got to go Twilight, Rarity told me to be at the Boutique at 4:30 and shy might get worried."- Spike said.

-"I's alright Spike, but do come back another time."- Twilight replied.

-"I will Twilight, I will. See you later."- Spike said, heading to the front door.

He realized the sun was about to set when he got outside, and became really worried that his marefriend would be upset. He didn't tell Twilight, but him and Rarity where having some issues. Although it was just some small discussions every now and then, Spike was worried a serious fight could happen, so he tried his best to not upset his marefriend, and this didn't help.

When he reached the house of Rarity, he knock, he went directly inside, and called his beloved's name. She told him to go upstairs, and her tone was very serious. So Spike gulped hard and wen up the stairs and into Rarity's bedroom. She was sitting on her bed, with an expression that seemed very upset, and she spoke with a tone that was flat out scary.

-"Why did you come so late, I was worried you wouldn't come at all."- she said.

-"I was just spending the day with Twilight, and lost track of time."- Spike answered.

-"That's no excuse, you scared me Spike. What did you do with Twilight that took you so long?"- she asked.

-"I just helped her organize some books and had lunch with her, then we started talking and I got carried away."- he answered.

-"But I told you to be here at 4:30, it's been 3 hours. I was going to call the police!"- she exclaimed. -"I even started to think that you didn't want to spend time with me."- she said with some tears in her eyes.

-"I always want to bee with you, no matter what."- he told her.

-"Yeah but it's not the same and you know it. We've had some problems."- she said. -"Maybe it's best if we sit down and talk about our relationship.

So Spike and Rarity sat down and talked for nearly an hour. She said some things that were true, but he didn't want to admit. They both said things about each other and as the conversation drew along, both began to fight the urge to cry. Finally after a full hour of  talking, Rarity said some words that made a scar so big in Spike's heart, he feared it would never heal.

-"I think it's best if we just call it quits and move on."- she said bluntly.

-"But I love you and you love me."- he answered.

-"No, things are just not the same again. Both you and me are to different to be a successful couple, it's best if we stop it."- she said.

-"Buf Rarity I love you with all my heart and you know it. Isn't that enough?"- he asked her.

-"Spike you don't understand, I don't love you anymore, and I'm breaking up with you. Could you please leave my house, I will send you your stuff later."- she answered.

And so Spike left Carrousel Boutique crying, running strait towards Fluttershy's cottage.
