Prolog

It was snowing in The small port town of pony-stone, in fact, it never seemed to stop snowing some locals would say, But regardless it was snowing when the cloaked figure walked into town, the figure was wearing a black cloak, torn all along the bottom with some holes in it here And there, his head was covered by a hood his footprints indicated he was wearing boots, he was also, for some particular reason, leaning slightly to the left. No one in the town had ever seen him before. He said nothing, walking through the main street and down yet another street, as if he had been there before, right to the door of the Hydra-Head Bar, and in he went, the bar itself was nothing special, it was damp and drafty, a few of the locals-3 earth ponies and a Minotaur- were playing darts in the corner, a female Griffin and a unicorn were chatting by the fire rocking back and forth in their rocking chairs, and the bartender ,a brown pelted earth pony with a blue main, was serving an elderly Pegasus a drink when the figure sat down.

“What can I get for you?” the bartender asked as the figure sat down

“Id like some Vodka if youve got it,” the figure said. “and Id like to know if youve heard of a pony named Rusty Tom?” The change in the bar's atmosphere was almost immediate. The elderly Pegasus dropped his drink, the Griffin stopped rocking and the unicorn fell out of her chair, the 3 earth pony and the Minotaur, still in mid-throw, all stopped and stared at the figure as if he had just said an extra foul swear word. The figure, as if he had not noticed every pony else`s reaction, continued “I wish to visit him, so we can talk about something of the up-most important” the Bartender said nothing, nobody moved, everyone just stared at him, the figure looked around and said in mock surprise “I see you have heard of him, well if you would kindly tell me where he is, I can be o-” quick as a flash the figure moved to his left as the bartender attempted to stab him with a small knife that had been concealed beneath the counter,"-n my way" the figure finished as if nothing had happened.

The figure then, without any warning, dropped to the floor as a dart came sailing through the air, right where the figure's head had been, and hit the wall behind the bar, and again the figure rolled to the side, and almost at one a spiked metal bat hit the floor right where his head has been a mere moment beforehand, and still acting as if nothing had happened the figure stood up. the three earth pony ran at him, the figure murmured “that it.” and quick as a flash hi clawed hand emerged from his cloak and in an instant, as if by magic, he pulled a sword out of his hood and struck the 3 earth pony down in one mighty stroke, knocking them out, but not killing them, he stood there and said,"let`s all calm down and talk this out in peace." nobody moved, nobody spoke, everyone was holding a weapon. After a few minutes of silence, the door to the bar burst open and 2 Guards came in. After look at the figure and the 3 ponies on the floor, they drew their swords and one of the guards yelled

“drop your weapon and put your hands on your head” the figure looked at them and said

"why the hell would I do that?" and in a flash the figure jumped over the bar counter, grabbed a bottle of Vodka, threw the Bar-tender over the counter for good measure and ducked under the bar counter. the Guards ran over to the counter and found, in absolute surprise, that the figure was gone. on the roof of the bar, the figure was drinking the Vodka, his hood down.

"well shit" Spike said as he took another drink  "I finally find a connection to that dammed Tom and the Guards show up" if Spike was still in Equestria he could of talked his way out of the situation, as it was he was in the Frozen North, there was no high ruler, no king, queens, princes, or princess, no there were only Mayors, or at least that's what they called themselves, in actuality each and every town in The Frozen North had its own personal Dictator. Sometimes theyd wage war on a neighboring town for the stupidest of reasons, Spike had personally seen a town war star over something as simple as, who had the best main, who was taller, one was even started over a hat! To say the least Spike felt little to no hatred or love to any town, but there was one person he hated to the extent that he was planing to kill the stupid colt, his name was Rusty Tom, and he was the Kingpin in a black market that sold drugss and ill gotten goods, the was known as StarDuster by all, and it was the immediate death sentence to any who dare say his real name in the Frozen North, all were scared of him, he was a huge Unicorn, and had a rusty brown pelt and main at birth. but ,using his magic, he had changed his natural colors, His pelt was gold, and he had made his mane look and move like stardust, hence his kingpin name, but Spike refused to use said name, Tom had done something to Spike that he could never forgive.

It was Spikes first day in the Frozen North when he met Tom. he had seemed very nice, paying for Spikes meal and even offering to pay for his room, but when Spike had got to the directed room he found a storage room and Tom had covered Spike`s mouth with chloroformed rag, when spike awoke he was aware of 3 things, his luggage with everything he owned a money inside, he was in the middle of a snowy field covered in frost, but what Spike noticed the most was the extreme pain that was emanating form his left shoulder, when he turned to look, the scream of pain and anger was heard for miles, his left arm was gone, and the tiny stump was bleeding profoundly. After that day Spike had trained his body for revenge.

That had been 20 years ago, many things about Spike had changed, he could make weapons in his atomic from the metals he ate and pull them out through his mouth, he could teleport himself short distances with his dragon breath, and he was a skilled fighter, being able to dodge things other  wouldn't notice until it was to late to act. he wore a black cloak, a long black sleeved shirt with the left sleeve cut off, the collar and end the right sleeve being a dark red color,a dark red fingerless glove, long black pants, with a dark red tied in cloth like belt, and dark red boots. needless to say Spike stood out in a crowd. not that he cared. all in all he`d just beat the crap out of anypony who challenged him. the only place he was welcome was in a large village called Dimond cove. it was populated mainly by Dimond dogs. Spike had accidentally saved them from a rampaging snow yeti when he sneezed on it. but that is another story

Spike threw the empty Vodka bottle aside and teleported himself down the street(to a small unicorn filly across the way it looked like he just waked out of a wall) and started walking past the port, it was a short lived walk, Spike wasn't planning on stoping but he heard a mare scream and, seeing as he was all for justice he the ninja'd his way towards the scream, getting to the source within a few seconds, granted he was now in the crows nest of a ship but still, close enough to hear the next yell for help followed by a loud slap and a colt saying

"did I give you permission to make a sound you little bit-" he had to stop there cause by then Spike had hit him full in the face with a mallet. as it turned out it was a Pirate ship, Spike had no time to stop as the rest of the crew was there too, the battle was short and halfway over before the other side even realized there was a battle at all. Spike then saw the beautiful creature the pirate captain had slapped, she had a green pelt with a sea blue main, but the most shocking part was that from the waist down she was a dolphin.

"HOLY CRAP!" Spike yelled in absolute shock. the Merpony looked at Spike and said with a sniff

" thank you kind dragon." Spike just stood there as he looked at the Merpony. after a minute Spike managed to say

"noting to it ma'am". The Merpony looked at Spike and said

"I am Emerald star, and might I know your name my savior?",

"Names Spike" Spike said, managing to get over his shock and walked over to the  Emerald "im guessing youll need my help getting back in the water then" Spike said

"yes" Emerald replied. without another word Spike went to the side of the ship and punched a hole few holes in the bottom to make sure it would sink ,then, holding her in a award way, took Emerald above deck, leaving the Pirates to their watery grave. Once upon deck Spike put Emerald on a dingy and lowered it to the water where she promptly returned to the water, resurfacing only to say "I shall tell the others of what you have done  today dearest Spike." and then swim away leaving Spike staring after her in wonder and confusion.
