You Reap What You Sow
Chapter 2: These Ain't My People
Previous ChapterNext ChapterStealth, something i've had a knack for ever since I put on this costume. Able to hide away in plain sight was a gift with this outfit. More like a curse then anything else to others though. I hear her, or rather I think I do as the sound of her footsteps appear different, like multiple steps more than the two we have. She stops, and from the sound of things she's in the kitchen. Making a sandwich probably. I should go while she's busy with her food, theres a window in her room so I'll leave through there. The fall won't hurt, I've survived worse after all. By no means am I Michael Myers but I do survive, or did, or do still, I don't know.
I step out of the shadows, if someone had seen me they would have thought I suddenly appeared out of thin air. This window wasn't closed either, and I take hold of it but before I open it. I see something outside, at the ground floor there's a costumed horse? It wore a black duster, topped with a matching farmers hat. I smiled underneath my mask because I found it quite funny to see an animal were clothes but what really got me was the mask it wore, a plague docter mask. A typical white one.
It remained motionless, and had it gaze set on the cottage. "Spooky", I say in a cracked whisper. It had ill intent, because no animal just stares like that and wears something of that form everyday. Also because I've done that motionless, staring contest with a building before. In my inner rambling I failed to notice that the horse had disappeared somehow. I raise an eybrow in confusion, not that I didn't see that coming, but...I didn't see it coming.
I'm still confused by the whole horse thing but I have to get out, no need to stay here and lose myself again. Just then I hear the stairs being climbed, and I quickly but silently open the window, exit and closed it. Honestly I should have paid attention to the surrounding area of the window as I found myself hanging by vines and leaves that grew on the building. They would give way at anytime as one had already began to snap, then another and another. I didn't panic but I did try my best to stay on the roof until both the vines I held onto failed me and ripped sending me to the ground below.
*Thud*
The nice soft grass broke my fall though...not really. Small pain slithered though my back as I get back up dusting myself off. Fortunately the grass did muffle my fall so I doubt I was heard. She must like animals, as not only was there a chicken coup but a variety of other animal homes as well as other sleeping animals who just slumber outside. They look so peaceful in the night.
*Clank* *Tap* *Clunk*
I hear a commotion at the first floor of the house, in the living room. I look up to see the faint shadow of the owner upstairs still. I start to walk away as this was no business of mine but I stop.
"It could just be a guest of hers. I mean come on, who would hurt a women who lives by herself near the woods with no help for miles", I say sarcastically to on one in particular. I really hope Its a guest, I can't be doing this or else I'll lose myself again and I don't want a repeat of before. Never again.
That's when I hear a sudden sceam before it's cut off almost immediately, followed by what I can assume to be a scuffle and then nothing. I sigh in defeat, as I make my way towards the cottage back door. I look through the small window on the door but I couldn't see anything past the hall and kitchen, they must be beyond it then. I turn the knob of the door and to no ones surprise it wasn't locked. She must have been asking for it then. I slither through the open door, as I approach the hall corner next to the stairs. I take peak from the edge. Thats when I saw the owner and soon I found myself confused and surprised by what I'm looking at.
I try to process the situation. That horse from before stood in the living room, guarding the homeowner who's tied up with duct tape around her mouth. That didn't surprise me but the species of the homeowner did. She was a horse too, or rather a pony now that I think hard about it. She was a yellow color with pink hair or mane. Glistening tears rolled down her face, she was scared. I smiled in joy at her fear and the tears that fell, it gave me pleasure see her like that. I smack myself in rage. She's hurt and afraid and there is nothing enjoyable about that!
Then it hit me. Fluttershy, that's her name. I remember her from before, somewhere, somewhere like the T.V. Yes! I remember her from the My Little Pony show. I used to watch that back before it ended, but how? Shes not supposed to be...real. I look again and see that the horse-pony thing began to drag her away. Real or not she seems to be in distress. I have a huge grin on my face right now as I begin my game.
I let out a wicked cracked chuckle that was not my own. The masked pony heard it all too well as it let go of the mare and approached the direction of my chuckle. He quickly turned the corner but I was already gone.
"Close, but you have to be quicker then that!", I cackle from afar. The pony whipped it's head back and cautiously walked back to the living room. I always enjoyed making them wander aimlessly towards nothing. With him distracted I pulled open a drawer from her kitchen, even here they have questionable knives. I carefully select a butcher knife, not my preferred choice of weapon but the others seem dull or unorthodox to use. The grip is unusual, not feeling right in my hands, nonetheless It shall do for now. Silently I close the drawer and continue with my new prey.
The masked pony came into the kitchen. Again I was gone, hidden from his sight but not far from it. I should be thankful that Fluttershy's a animal lover as the wood beams that hold her bird friends nest gave me a hiding spot and a vantage point. Even bad ponies don't look up, not that he would notice me. He looked around the kitchen, never leaving the doorframe before he went back to the living room again. I drop down with perfect silence as his back was turned to me. I followed the oblivious pony into the room where Fluttershy be tied up, still on the floor, crying.
Her eyes widened upon noticing me hiding behind the plague doctor pony. I place one finger against my longated mouth, the shush gesture. Then I drive the knife deep inside the side of the masked pony's neck, I then twist it inside slowly. I didn't find it very thrilling as it felt like I stabbed a doll or something. The pony staggered to side a bit, it attempted to pull the knife out but gave up before going limp and falling over like a ragdoll, sprawling on the floor. I tilt my head slightly in confusion, before the body itself began to dissolve into some kind of black smoke which disappeared into the air shortly after. The blade was the only thing left behind by it, which I promptly pick up and inspect. No blood or any kind of liquid was on it, much to my disappointment. I whip my head back at Fluttershy who just stared at me with fear in her tear soaked eyes. I pick her up off the floor and place her on her couch. She wasn't very heavy, which surprised me.
It would be easy now, to just cut her. She wouldn't be able to scream, and seeing her blood spill would make up for my prior disappointment. I close in on her, i'm mere inches away from her face. I could hear and slightly feel her puffs of breaths that come out of her nose. I bring the knife to her cheek, she stared at it and tried to move her face from it but continued to press it against her cheek. I take the knife away from her cheek and move it closer to her gut. She closes her eyes upon seeing me pull my hand back expecting the worse.
Instead I start to cut her binds, the knife slowly but effectively cuts through the ropes and soon enough she was free. I can't do it, I can't end her life. She may be fake or not but I won't hurt her. I leave the duct tape on her though, can't have her scream now. I rub the back of my hand against her cheek this time, she recoils a bit. She stares at me with horror. I have gotten use to thay stare but it still stung. I quickly turn around, and head for the door, and leave.
I head down the road of the cottage, and I see much further down I see a town. Probably Ponyville, that further fuels the fact that i'm no longer in my world, or maybe i'm dreaming. Although I feel like this is unlikely and I ain't going to off myself just to see. I should do it, save this world from me. Come to think of it, I doubt this world would have a problem with me, magic and all. Or is all that wishful thinking. Should I be freaking out that I'm not at home no more? Even if there is no home for me anymore. Its a surprise that I'm here, but I am not going to freak. I see that the sun is setting bringing in dusk.
Maybe I can try to introduce myself, without the costume. Like try to be a normal human in Equestria type thing. From what I remember fanfics have told me, they'll be understanding and maybe accepting. Probably help me get home I guess and all that. I sigh, It won't be that easy especially when it comes to me. I stare at the distant Ponyville wondering what I should do now. That plague doctor looking pony is still a riddle to me. Why did it just dissolve away, was it real or not?
Now that I think about it, I don't think I can meet anypony with my appearances just like that. They'll freak. More for what I'm wearing actually or maybe just because i'm not a freaking pony. They can't be allowed to see me then.
So I guess Ghost-Face is in town.
