Chapter 3: You Are Here

Previous Chapter

By the time I reached Ponyville, the moon took it's place amongst the stars. I'm glad it did as the night always gave me cover from watchful eyes. However I don't think it will matter as there is literally no one outside. I mean does no one just take a stroll or something.

I take no precaution as I simply walk though Ponyville where if anyone were actually outside they would see me. I tread down the dirt roads of Ponyville, letting my eyes wander to what ever caught there attention. Ponyville looks amazing, before I thought this place looked rather lackluster, but seeing it right here right now. Breathtaking. I finally see how grand the old style look of the town is.

On a side note, after walking some more I hear something from afar, it was muffled but I could tell from where it was coming from. The closer I got to this certain building with neon lights flashing inside I heard the techno music become less muffled. From what I could tell by the sign it had, which was just a disco ball and a pony laughing? So I assume it be a club. Well at least they party you know.

Moving on, the emptiness of the town still bothered me. I doubt every pony here was in that club so were they all a sleepin'. I start to take a good long look at my current location in Ponyville and I think I'm lost, as none of this looks familer to what I remember of the show. There's houses, and more houses then stores but nothing seems close to anywhere that would I recognize. I don't even see the town hall! I mean Twilight's castle sticks out so much that only a blind person wouldn't be able to see it. You'd think they would have a map of the town on a stand or even street names. So my options are wander around until I find a familiar destination or proceed to Twilight's castle first and then look for the rest.

"Damn these Crickets and Cicadas are starting to get unbearable!" I say out loud as no one would hear me anyways. The show makes this town seem so small but damn is it huge. I'm just now getting close to Twilight's castle.

At the entrance to her castle, I push one of the two heavyset doors open. I step inside the darkened castle that the rays of lunar light help brighten. I close the door quietly enveloping the whole place in darkness. My eyes begin to adjust a little but it was still hard to see, even for me. I take off my mask for the first time in a while to see if that would give me better sight. It did not help but I did see the lobby staircase. If I find a balcony i'll be able to see all of Ponyville making it easier for me to pinpoint where her home is. I would hope to get there before sunrise for obvious reasons.

Up the stairs I go and not long do I find myself tired from the long climb up. How does she go up and down these stairs everyday? jeez.

After what felt like a five story walk up the stairs, I find myself staring at a multitude of doors. I slouch and roll my eyes in exhaustion with a sigh. How does she remember which room is which, it's a maze up in here. The first door I open was a bedroom, then the next was a bedroom, and the one after that was...a bedroom. So pretty much these rooms are just filler or for guests. Well atleast the next room I checked wasn't a bedroom, instead it was a art room? It had a easel, paint, and paintings. Some of the paintings inside caught my eye as they resembled famous artworks from Earth, but ponyfied. One of which was facing me, the only one, and it felt as if it was placed there to mock me or something. It was The Scream painting. "Great to know that fate has a sense of humor", I say as I close the door to that room. I peak into more rooms and each was balconyless. Now I'm getting frustrated, as my patience is on its last leg. How many rooms can one castle have?!

I finally catch a break, finding a room with a balcony. The room I entered was small but only because it was filled with relaxing decore and furniture. I shuffled around said furniture to get out towards the balcony. The balcony here wasn't large as it served more as a huge open window were one could step inside. I whistled in astonishment, at how high above Ponyville I am. Looking above me I notice that we are near the final floors of the castle.

Which I question myself on how we got here for fast.

Setting my sights back on Ponyville, I observe the town from left to right. Focusing on no real destination. Town Hall was in the center, go figure.

I lean forward on the balconys rail. I ponder my situation.

This is all nuts! I'm in Ponyville, In fucking Equestria, a land filled with magical talking animals, that know more peace then my world ever could. Why am I here, me of all people. I didn't want a second chance, I've done nothing to deserve a second chance but I got one. I grasp my mask with both hands over the railing, staring hard at it. My eyebrows lower in anger the longer I gaze upon the mask of my undoing, my second face. I wanted to get rid of it, not just the mask but also this pit feeling inside that felt cold and warm, it made me weak in the bones, it stung me. Looking at the mask only increased the feeling, I felt like letting tears out but I forced them to stay. I inhaled sharply before putting my mask on and just like that the feelings were lessened, I felt different when the mask covered my face. I become Ghostface, I do the Ghostface voice impression, a darn good one too. I do it all but never could I do these things as my true self. Best not stay here, or else.

Looking over at Ponyville again, I notice a puff of odd smoke above the town approaching the castle, it slithered erratically in the air, twirling around sometimes as it neared. I raised an eyebrow in confusion, as I knew that the ponies could control clouds in a way, but this odd smoke cloud was moving on it own. I watched the cloud spiral into the castle through a window, a floor or two up.

I don't know what's with me but I found myself leaving the room I currently was in, and making my way up another flight of stairs to the floor I presume the smoke entered. Call it curiousity or ignorance of it, I wanted to know what that smoke was, it looked familiar to the smoke the plague doctor pony dissolveed into at the cottage.

I made extra care to stay well hidden since I have no idea where that odd smoke cloud went to. I shimmy briefly against the crystal wall, before dashing to the other side of the hall just close to the corner that the hall turned to. I take a peak into the branching hallway that lead to a room with two large blue glass doors. Facing the door was a silhouette that I couldn't completely make out who or what they were. It's making weird clicking sounds. I squint my eyes in an effort to see better but that failed. The clicking sounds obruptly stops and to my surprise I saw the silhouette vaporize itself into the odd smoke I say just minutes before. Then it seeped through the cracks of the doors entering the room. I blink hard a few times to make sure I say that correctly.

That thing evaporate into thin air before. Was it the same from before then. Did it just use magic to live? I bob my head thinking what to do, if this thing is like the one from before then I can't let them go. In a way I'll be doing the ponies a favor as I don't believe this thing is here for a cup of sugar. After all it the last one tied up Fluttershy and I presume it will do the same to Twilight. Again I was oblivious to it as it didn't take notice of me before it left. The dark hallway obscured me well, still I was cautious on how I moved near the door. By the door I press my ear against it doing my best to hear any unusual sounds.

Nothing came to my ear but silence. With no other way in I slowly push open the door enough so I can pass through then I close the door behind me. Once inside I carefully crouch down to avoid detection. From my view right now I can tell I'm in a master bedroom dimly lit by the lunar light allowing for more visability. Though before I can tell more about the room I quickly shuffle back as I take notice of the plague doctor pony who stood next to a grand purple bed. I move back until I meet a small bookshelf that hid with the shadow of the room, from there I stare at the masked pony.

From the look of it, this must be the same one from the cottage.

I gaze at the plague doctor who gazed upon a sleeping figure on the bed. I was to low to see who exactly it may be but I think it to be Twilight.

A guess at best.

I pulled the butcher knife out, holding it with the blade sticking up.

I observe the plague doctor more and notice it reach inside its coat, looking for something. Not long does it pull out a chrome sphere. I decide to make a move. I don't believe he going to play ball with that sphere. Again he's too distracted with whatever he doing to notice me or anything else. I draw near him as I intend to stab him the way I did before. I take time to notice who slept on the bed and my guess was best after all as it was Twilight. I'm glad she was asleep, it would be easier if I were left unknown.

I brought my hand back ready to drill the knife in his neck but before I could stab him. It immediately jerked is head back at me. My heart beat faster as I never expected him to just react like that. The pony stared at me through it mask with withered eyes. "I'm guessing you remembered huh?", I said with the Ghostface voice. I cautiously stepped away from the stallion, thoughts of what it could do filled my head. I never hesitate, so why now.

"You Mess up Master's plan. Who praytell are you. Who praytell are you. You poofed another. You poofed another. Why follow this one", It spoke with a soft echoing whisper. A whisper that seemed only to fall onto my ears. Taken abit back from it speaking I glanced over to Twilight who now, had a upward swirling patch of smoke on her face. The stallion cocked it's head slightly to one side before eerily looking back at Twilight. "I provide the Bio-Subject. Yes, I made sure Princess Friendship wasn't waking up while I provide the Bio-Subject", It spoke strangely again.

Provide Bio-Subject? Now I may not be from here but that doesn't sound right.

It whipped it's head back towards me. "Witnesses none. Master said. Witnesses none. Dispatch you this one will!", it said with a more eager speech. Now I know that doesn't sound good!

It began a charge before dissipating into smoke and swirling around me like a tornado.

"Oh shit!", I exclaimed as the floor beneath me left me. I was hovering over the crystal floor, the tornado was lifting me up. I flailed about while being lifted higher up. Soon the vortex of smoke serpantined around the room before erupting out the glassless window. The black and brown smoke cover much of my view, above and below. I had no clue as to where this fucker was taking me but my free ride came to an abrupted stop mid air as the smoke repulsed around me. Leaving me feets in the air. Pulmmeting down, I shrieked then I exclaimed in pain when the ground finally meet with me, mostly my face and chest. I swear I heard a crack!

The fall was survivable but not painless. I picked myself up from the dirt, pain shot through me as I felt like everything that kept me living left my body. Many seconds passed before I was able to breath and relax.

Until I saw a stream of smoke winding down a few feet in front of me before splashing onto the ground and reforming into the plague doctor again.

"This one didn't think, didn't think you would get up so fast. So fast", It sounded disappointed.

I pulled my knife out, holding it next to my head with the blade down. "This blades for you", I say with an extra sinister Ghostface voice.

"This one prefers you keep it!", it said boobing it's head erratically.

I spun the knife so the blade stood up and lunged.
