On a particularly cold winter's eve, Twilight discovers a strange creature outside her house. Confused and troubled by this, she desperately tries to make sense of it. However, there are bigger problems that require her attention. Canterlot is frozen in a giant block of ice. She is informed that dark magic is in the works and the only way to stop it and save Equestria from eternal winter is to confront the responsible ancient evil deep within the icy north. It is up to Twilight and her friends and an unexpected companion to bravely embark on the journey to stop this menace once and for all.
