Frozen Heart
First Discourse
Previous ChapterRoughly an hour later, the creature opened its eyes and revealed two brilliant sapphires staring dead ahead, inspecting the newfound environment. Twilight was intensively searching for information about the thing in her living room, swiftly speeding through the pages. Unaware of the creature's consciousness, she allowed herself a deep sigh and some inaudible grumbling. Spike had already went to bed, sparing himself for the awkward situation to come.
"Oh, hello," a voice chirped behind Twilight. She instantly snapped out of her sleep-deprived state of mind and slowly turned towards the creature with an eccentric mix of excitement and fear stapled on her face. The creature had risen to a sitting position, inspecting Twilight with the same gaze as her own.
"Has anyone ever told you how much you resemble a unicorn?" it asked with a puzzled expression. The question caught Twilight entirely off-guard.
"I... wha-? I mean, I am a unicorn... well, alicorn actually, thank you. The name's Twilight Sparkle, Mister...?"
Twilight hoped she had gotten the gender right. By notion of the short blonde hair and body physique that was her assumption. Also, letting a female of any species dress like that would easily be described as "a crime against fashion" by her friend Rarity.
"Oh, where are my manners. Conley. Andrew Conley at your service, miss. Now, before anything, I would like to express my utmost gratitude as I understand from the circumstances that you have quite unceremoniously saved my life." He stated in an upbeat manner.
Twilight still found herself quite dumfounded by the entire situation. "I... uhh... now that we've gone over the formalities, can you tell me... what are you....?"
"Me? I'm no one less than fifth generation of the house of Conley, heir of..."
"No, no, no..." Twilight somewhat rudely interrupted. "Not who are you. What are you? I've never seen anything like you, not even in my books!" Twilight said and gestured wildly towards the booky mess behind her. This left the guest silent for a moment, thinking.
"Ah, you wish information about my species, as you are unfamiliar with it? Very well..." Andrew cleared his throat.
"Homo sapiens sapiens, the dominant species of the planet Earth in the Milky Way galaxy is believed to have descended from prehistoric monkeys in ancient Africa. Through the ages have we exceeded other species with our enormous brains and superior intellect, using our inventiveness to overcome the sheer strength of competitors. To this very day, human reigns supreme on Earth. Every day we develop new technology to improve our life as well those of the animals who also live on Earth. In short, I am human. Nice to meet you," he said and extended his arm in a friendly gesture. Twilight would gladly have met his hand with her hoof if it hadn't been for the fact that she was fast asleep, snoring audibly. Andrew took no offense in this. He was used to people falling asleep in his lectures. Besides, she looked exhausted. He couldn't blame her for letting the sweet embrace of slumber overcome her. Judging by the darkness outside, it was very late. Soon, he found himself asleep as well. Tomorrow was going to more eventful than any of them could imagine.
