“In nuclear war all men are cremated equal.”

Life’s funny. One day you’re enjoying the peaceful life of a Stable, the next you’re in hell on earth to chase the girl of your dreams. Or, you take something and run from your Stable to help save it from some raiders and leads to so much more…..both of which leads to a hell of a thing to tell.
But also, there are stories you have never heard, and while they’re blood-stained and grim, they’re no less inspiring and impressive, such as the Battle of Stalliongrad, which is both appalling because of the amount of ponies that died, (partially POWs, senselessly, because of their commander’s pride to not surrender, despite the guaranteed safety of his troops if he did, a rare gift for POWs of those particular victors). But it’s also an awe-inspiring story of bravery and dedication of the part of the Stallions, and even Mares, that forced their enemy to pay dearly for every foot gained among the rubble of their homes and the thousands of bodies of their comrades.
Life is full of these stories. Why do we tell them? They happened over 200 years ago, during a war that is vastly different from what you’re used to, and took place on the other side of the world. Maybe it’s that they give us a figurehead, someone to look up to and use as a role model, like a Butter Yellow Pegasus did for us all. Maybe it’s to prove to ourselves that there’s some good in everypony, somewhere, deep down.
Everypony, everyone, has a story. There are the bleak stories of slaves, the sadistic stories of raiders, the long, dark, and twisty stories of The Ministries and their Mares, and the Sad stories that belong to not just everypony, but everyone, as no one’s story ended on a happy note; the lucky ones died quickly, not being forced to keep living and witness the horrors of raiders and slavers, although some witnessed things almost as bad before.
However, there are also, very rarely, exceptional stories; stories of heroes, who strive to do better, many of which end leaving you depressed. But then, even more rarely, you have the stories of the heroes who survived; The Story of Lilpip, of Blackjack, Puppysmiles, Murky Number Seven, and Silver Storm.
This is my story.
Author's Note
This has been slowly working its way through my brain, and my terrible writing leading to major changes and about 10 different drafts.
But, let me know what I did right/wrong in the comments, I'd love to hear some constructive criticism.
Also, a warning: I write when I'm in the mood, the left side of my brain is working, and when I feel like it, so expect chapters to be few and far between.
